General description of the Kawasaki ER-6f motorcycle
- Model designation: ER-6f
- Marketing designation: EX650 A
Why do we ride a motorcycle?
Because riding a motorcycle is fun. Because motorcycles allow us to experience the fullness of life. And also because there are few things in life more exciting than riding a Kawasaki motorcycle.
The new ER-6f is a motorcycle that could only be made by Kawasaki. Exciting, eye-catching and oozing with energy, this lightweight, responsive bike will be loved by all riders. For both beginners (or those who have recently ridden simpler models) and experienced riders, the ER-6f offers an irresistible combination of flexibility, quality and style.
Combining time-tested Kawasaki engineering with a refreshingly modern design, the all-new ER-6f is one of the most technically advanced motorcycles on the market today. Conceived at Kawasaki's design and development facility in Akashi, Japan, the ER-6f was a bold step forward for Kawasaki. The ER-6f, with its technically advanced engine and chassis, brings a fresh spirit to the world of motorcycles: a simple motorcycle, in terms of finishing, build quality and performance characteristics, it is not inferior to much more expensive machines.
This versatile machine is designed for riders of all ages and skill levels. For men and women, the core appeal of the ER-6f is that this cutting-edge design motorcycle is as beautiful to look at as it is easy to ride.
Powered by a compact twin-cylinder engine mounted on a sleek, lightweight chassis, the ER-6f is exceptionally agile and extremely comfortable to ride. And don't be fooled by the compact size of the engine - the energy it transfers to the ER-6f motorcycle will give you a lot of pleasure. With low-effort controls, wind and weather protection from the windshield and full fairing, and ergonomics that allow riders of all sizes to ride comfortably, the ER-6f is ideal for a wide range of riders.
The ER-6f represents Kawasaki's vision for the future of motorcycles, a vision born from a passion for bringing the joy of motorcycling to as many people as possible.
Unique combination
Fun to ride, comfortable to ride, and great looking, the ER-6f will bring joy to everyone, from beginner to seasoned rider. How did we manage to create such a versatile motorcycle? Let's not hide that we started not with a motorcycle, but with a racer. Our engineers carefully studied how riders handle the motorcycle. To determine which position gave a rider more confidence, they studied different types of riding positions. Reducing the distance between the footrests and using a lower seat allowed drivers to easily reach the ground with their feet. And low-effort handle controls make the machine easier to operate.
The ER-6f is very easy to ride. A narrow, lightweight trellis frame with an offset rear shock attached to a triangular swingarm ensures high agility. This technically advanced short wheelbase frame (together with the compact engine) is the key to the ER-6f's high comfort and easy handling.
No less progressive is the motorcycle engine. Since the main goals we set for ourselves at the design stage were light weight and compactness, the possibility of using V-twin and single-row four-cylinder engines was no longer an option. Our engineering team has developed a revolutionary new parallel twin engine that delivers high, smooth, variable power across a wide rpm range. With a displacement of 649 cc, this liquid-cooled engine is the most compact engine in its class. And don’t let its dimensions confuse you, this “baby” produces more than enough power for a car in this class. The electronic fuel injection system ensures uninterrupted power delivery throughout the entire engine speed range. The ER-6f is an environmentally friendly model, it is the only car in its class that meets strict Euro-III emission standards.
Enjoyable and easy to ride, the ER-6f's intimidating dimensions and comfortable ergonomics will appeal to beginners, while experienced riders are sure to love its superb engine performance and effortless handling. The ER-6f is the size and look of a 400-class motorcycle with the power of a 650-class motorcycle.
The ER-6f motorcycle is suitable for anyone. Women, new riders, and riders who haven't ridden a motorcycle in a while will appreciate the low seat, light weight, and low-effort controls. Those who use the motorcycle for regular commuting will appreciate the easy handling and extremely economical fuel consumption. And riders looking for a second bike will be surprised by the ER-6f's impressive all-round performance.
Riding with pleasure
If riding a motorcycle is not fun for you, then the brand of the motorcycle is not Kawasaki. The ER-6f's torquey engine is designed specifically for smooth power delivery at low and mid-range speeds. The lightweight chassis and body fit the rider like a pair of favorite jeans, allowing the rider to feel the bike as an extension of his own body. The short wheelbase and concentrated mass (another advantage provided by the centrally located muffler) provide exceptional control response, high stability and a tight turning radius. Whether you're on busy city streets or on the freeway, you'll always enjoy the ER-6f.
Easy ride for everyone
The ER-6f is very easy to ride. The combination of a compact and powerful parallel twin engine and a lightweight trellis frame with offset shock absorber results in a narrow, compact design that doesn't give the full picture of the machine's impressive performance characteristics. Add in a windshield, a low seat, a comfortable riding position and low-effort controls, and the result is a bike that's easy for a beginner to ride while still satisfying for an experienced rider.
Sophisticated style
Sleek as a jungle cat and just as dynamic, the ER-6f has the appearance of a much more expensive motorcycle. Featuring the finest design in the middleweight class, the ER-6f is the perfect example of how form follows substance; The clean, flowing lines of the car blend perfectly with the lines of the driver's body. A centrally located muffler, offset shock absorber and 6-spoke racing wheels give the ER-6f that unique appearance that is unmistakably Kawasaki.
Advantages and disadvantages
pros
- stylish design;
- high reliability (2-year warranty from the manufacturer without mileage restrictions); (moto.auto.ru/motorcycle/new/sale).
- convenient gearbox (it is impossible to mix up gears);
- reduced level of emissions (thanks to the honeycomb catalyst, maximum neutralization is achieved);
- good handling compared to other motorcycles of the same class, for example, the Yamaha XJ6;
- safe braking system (twin 300 mm discs at the front and single 200 mm discs at the rear, as well as the built-in ABS system allow you to control the bike in any bad weather).
Minuses
- front suspension too soft;
- controversial quality of welding and rigidity of the frame structure;
- vibrations when driving from 5 thousand revolutions;
- discomfort of driving outside the city due to the lack of massive fairings.
Advantages and disadvantages of the Kawasaki ER-6N motorcycle
Competitors
- Honda CB 600F Hornet. Despite its more classic appearance, this extremely popular motorcycle competes in the same field as the Kawasaki EP 6H. On the secondary market it costs on average a little more than a Kawasaki of the same production.
- Honda NC700/NC750. This model has in common with the ER 6N a 2-cylinder in-line engine and general similarity in technical characteristics. The Kawasaki EP 6H, however, is cheaper.
- Stels 600 Benelli. Chinese-Italian naked bike, inexpensive and well-proven. In general, the characteristics are slightly superior to the “Japanese”, and it also costs less, but there are more available tuning options on the Kawasaki ER 6N than on the Stels.
- Suzuki Gladius 650. It differs from Kawasaki mainly in its V-shaped twin. This bike is designed based on the engine of the old SV 650 model, which has proven itself well.
- Yamaha XJ6N, also known as Diversion for some markets. In terms of price and technical characteristics, the Kawasaki EP 6H roughly corresponds to it, so choosing a specific model is a matter of taste. Just don’t confuse the mentioned model with the Diversion 600 - this is a completely different motorcycle, originally from the 90s of the last century.
Comparison with analogues
In comparison with the Honda NC700X (costs 50 thousand rubles less than the “ruff”) and Yamaha XJ6, the cost ranges from 7800 to 8500 dollars. The motorcycle is small in size, with a wider handlebar, which ensures easy handling. In terms of acceleration to hundreds, the Kawasaki Ruff is faster than the Yamaha XJ6 by 0.9 seconds and the engine has enough thrust for any gear and revolutions (up to 7000 per minute).

Tuning features
Every owner wants his bike to have a unique styling. To achieve this result, tuning is used. It can be external, engine tuning and chassis. External work includes painting, replacing fairings, handles, stickers, and mirrors. It is done mainly for “show-off” or to give the motorcycle an aesthetic appearance. A motor conversion is an improvement in the power output of a bike by replacing some of the factory parts with others or eliminating them if necessary. When the chassis is replaced, the wheels, brake system, clutch, suspension, or, in other words, everything that can improve its technical capabilities are replaced.
