The BRP Outlander Max 650 XT ATV is a fairly versatile model, which is also designed for two people. Like many other models from this manufacturer, this model is equipped with air suspension. It should be noted that this element does not have special cylinders, like on cars, which significantly reduces the cost of ATV maintenance. Also, the available air suspension has six modes: with the hardest mode, the ATV can accommodate two people weighing 100 kilograms each and the equipment will not sag, while the softest mode is used when driving on small stones, since in this case it provides increased comfort.
The BRP Outlander Max 650 is equipped with a V-shaped two-cylinder power plant with a displacement of 62 horsepower or 45.6 kilowatts. This power is quite enough so that the equipment, in addition to the passenger, can also transport various cargoes. Speaking of carrying capacity, the front and rear luggage platforms can accommodate up to 163 kilograms, which is quite good. The capabilities of this ATV are also enhanced by its high traction force, which is 590 kilograms.
Already in the standard configuration, the model has a large number of different elements that help improve certain qualities of the ATV. The basic equipment of the machine includes:
- Winch.
- Reinforced front and rear bumpers made of high-strength alloy.
- Special protective wind shields for the hands, mounted on the steering wheel.
- Continuously variable transmission system (CVT).
- Rear torsion bar suspension with longitudinal wishbones.
- Front suspension with double A-arms.
- Pneumatics that provide increased comfort when driving on various types of surfaces.
- Lockable center differential, which locks the front wheels automatically in case of slipping.
- Multifunctional digital instrument panel.
- Fuel tank increased to 20.5 liters.

Utility ATV Outlander 650 MAX XT
Outlander 650 MAX XT ATV Information
It’s not for nothing that this quad is called “utilitarian”: an all-wheel drive all-terrain vehicle with racks and towbars is useful both for tourist forced marches and as a “racer” for country crosses, and equip it with a set of Apache tracks and an attached snow-removal bucket – it will be a good helper for snow removal .
Catchy design, moderately toothy tires, luggage racks on the tail and front shield, a full-fledged passenger seat for two! The ATV has an extended wheelbase, the passenger seat coexists peacefully with the trunk, and does not block it. In addition, there are footrests for the passenger. Actually, the presence of a passenger seat suggests that the quad is intended more for cruising. You can also clear snow near a country house or pull a trailer with firewood, but more often you want to drive around the dacha or go hunting together - what could be better?!

BRP Can-Am Outlander MAX 650 XT ATV
The XT configuration features even more technology features that provide significant improvements in handling and added control on ATVs that offer more power and the best power-to-weight ratio in its class. A new tri-range Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) system gives the driver full control over the level of steering assistance (available only on Outlander 650 and 500 models). In addition, these models are equipped with a heavy-duty winch, mud flaps (only available on the Outlander 650 model) and bumpers for situations when you want to use your ATV to its full potential.
The XT modification is the “golden mean” in the line. Unlike the basic version, which is more geared towards work and is quite ascetic, the “ikstishka” has: more “toothy” tires on cast alloy wheels, hand protection, harsh “knuckle bars”, electric power steering DPS (Dynamic Power Steerling) ) and a three-ton Warn winch. That is, all the off-road racing and entertainment stuffing is present. The quad is equipped with all-wheel drive with a proprietary Visco-Lok front limited-slip differential system.
All BRP quads for the 2013 model year are built on the completely new SST G2 (Surrounding Spar Technology Generation 2) platform. Our “Outlander” was no exception. The new frame is much more rigid and durable due to the unusual arrangement of elements, reducing the number of parts and welds. But the main goal when developing the platform was not lightness or a lower center of gravity, but improved handling and stability on the move. The front suspension on two A-arms is interesting in that the installation planes of the upper and lower arms are not parallel, and the attachment points of the pendulum arms of the rear independent suspension to the frame have noticeably shifted downward. According to the manufacturer, all these innovations have significantly improved the contact of the wheels with the coating, both simply on bumps and holes, and in corners.
The ATV engine is a two-cylinder liquid-cooled injection V-shaped engine and a variator with a reduction range. The engines were not affected by changes for the new model year, but the power system was slightly altered. The air filter housing is now located at the highest point of the quad - right behind the steering wheel, in the place where the gas tank is usually located. Getting to the filter is as easy as shelling pears - you just need to snap off the small part of the lining and open the airbox lid. No tools are required for this, so even if you happen to “swallow” water in some particularly deep ford, changing the filter will be a matter of three minutes.

Reviews
- I bought this ATV about three years ago. During its entire operation, it only once carried out a major overhaul of the engine and suspension. Maintenance is not as expensive as on some other motorized vehicles. The technical characteristics are excellent, the ATV has excellent handling, maneuverability and convenience. I especially liked its appearance, it looks quite modern and stylish. I don’t see any major shortcomings, although there are minor ones, but they can be found in any other technique.
- While choosing ATVs, I came across a rather interesting advertisement, where there was a BRP Outlander Max 650 XT. What I liked about this ad was the condition of the car and the very affordable price, which is why I decided to purchase it. The ATV fully justifies its cost, and if it’s new, then even more so. Comfortable fit, good cross-country ability and simple maintenance, that’s all I required from the equipment. This device still works without any complaints.

Technical characteristics of BRP Outlander 650
Starting from 2017-2018, every BRP 650 series ATV has been redesigned. Basically, the changes affected the transition from mechanical to electronic filling, but the manufacturer did not forget about the appearance, modernization of the body, frame and suspension. By equipping the new models with one or two electronic systems for monitoring injection and fuel consumption, it was possible to achieve a significant reduction in fuel consumption, which, according to users, saves on average 20% of gasoline.
Significant changes are noticeable in almost every modification, for example, starting with the BRP Outlander 650 XT, each ATV has hydraulic power steering and more advanced tires with deep treads, a special unique cut. This allows the driver to feel the road surface and maneuver even along narrow forest paths or marshy fields. If you discard the lyrics and look at the dry numbers, ATV lovers will be wildly delighted:
- The two-cylinder V-shaped engine of the BRP 650 quad bike provides a power of 649 cm3. Depending on the model and settings, the power of the unit varies around 60-64 hp, which is quite good for a utilitarian model.
- BRP 650 has all-wheel drive . Automatic switching between rear-wheel drive/all-wheel drive and a new product from the Canadian auto industry in the form of a differential locking system.
- Dimensions excluding body kits and tuning: 239x117x115. Dry weight - 320-356 kg. The weight partly depends on the fuel tank, which in early models is small, but after restyling the XT configuration and older have a gasoline reserve of 18-23 liters.
- The CVT transmission provides a smooth and measured ride. Despite the high maximum speed, automatic downshifting and upshifting while driving creates comfortable conditions for fans of high-speed travel on the highway.
- The high towing capacity makes the BRP X MR 650 ATV an excellent vehicle for long trips or hunting and fishing with an overnight stay. The ability to load a motorized vehicle weighing one and a half times its own is an excellent indicator for a utilitarian model.
Naturally, the presence of a pre-installed winch or disc brakes on all wheels, an injector and an electric starter does not make the model special of its kind. Today, most cheap analogues offer almost the same components on their vehicles, and from an ATV ten times more expensive than its Chinese counterparts, you should expect something more than just good technical parameters.

Model features
The double BRP Outlander 650 MAX XT, XT-P, CAMO and X MR have one main and main advantage - the quality of components and assembly. The manufacturer provides a guarantee both for the entire motorcycle vehicle and for its individual parts. Moreover, the guarantee is very long and will satisfy many fans of protecting their own investments. According to user reviews, there are no complaints about the quality of parts and assembly. All elements are well tightened, welded and fixed, electrical wiring is securely hidden from moisture, and moving parts are individually protected. The underside of the Outlander MAX 650 XT, X MR and Basic is protected by a lightweight, impact-resistant shield.
The equipment belongs to the premium category, because of this, a large number of tubes and connections does not allow quick access to parts. It is worth considering that even high ground clearance on both axles will not allow the breakdown to be quickly repaired. Often, the device itself identifies all possible and upcoming breakdowns or the need to replace, debug or calibrate a part and displays it as a technical error on the LCD display. This makes life much easier for the owner, but no one is immune from unforeseen situations, and it is not always possible to solve a problem with a malfunction in the field.
An additional bonus for the owner will be the presence of a number of improvements that the manufacturer has thought through for its ATVs. The entire BRP 650 MAX series: XT, XT-P, XT CAMO can be improved at the request of the owner even upon purchase. Although, in most cases there is no need for tuning itself, because it is much easier and cheaper to immediately buy a more modern model with an already pre-installed additional light, protection or winch. Such a solution will save time and money, because tuning after purchase is much more expensive than buying a model of a higher class.
The classification of models by category, type and amount of tuning distinguishes the Outlander 650 from its main competitor from Japan - the Yamaha GRIZZLY 700. In general, the models are very similar to each other, but for Yamaha the buyer will have to buy the desired body kits and tuning parts separately, which neutralizes its advantage over BRP in low price.
