Motorcycle Ural Tourist T: technical specifications, photos, videos

On impassable Russian roads, only tanks and 3-wheeled motorcycles produced at the Irbit Motorcycle Plant are not afraid of dirt. Talented factory designers managed to create reliable, modern equipment intended for professional travelers and extreme drivers - the Ural “Tourist” motorcycle.

Ural Tourist is a Russian motorcycle with a sidecar and 19-inch wheels. A stylish bike allows you to easily and comfortably travel over rough terrain, which is especially appreciated by lovers of outdoor activities, fishing and hunting.

Ural Tourist

Purpose

In the Russian outback, the Ural “Tourist T” has become a desirable and, importantly, inexpensive “trophy” for avid bikers, hunters, fishermen, farmers and foresters. A durable front suspension will ensure fast and trouble-free driving on forest paths and curved paths, damaged asphalt and potholes on the highway. Without much difficulty, a 335-kilogram transport with a sidecar overcomes rough terrain with viscous soils or swamps.

Three passengers (with backpacks and luggage, total weight up to 285 kg) riding this massive motorcycle will get a lot of pleasure from an active holiday spent together with the “Tourist”. Its maximum speed is 120 km/h, which the bike can only reach on a good road.

Equipment and technical characteristics

Specialists of the Irbit plant equipped their main universal motorcycle Ural “Tourist T” with imported parts and components of high quality:

  • carburetor from ;
  • brakes from the Brembo brand;
  • rear shock absorbers of the Sachs brand;
  • telescopic front forks from .

Agricultural workers and rural residents will appreciate in practice the quality of the driver's mudguards, comfortable passenger handles and reliable parking brakes with a windshield, which are included in the additional equipment of this motorcycle. Manufacturers offer owners to purchase wheels with off-road tread (for improved cross-country ability) and a road kit with tubes of lubricants and oils.

The motorcycle will be a good gift for true connoisseurs of domestic technology.

A spacious, water-resistant case will be the icing on the cake. A 2.5-meter Ural “Tourist T”, having a height of more than 1 m and a width of 1.7 m, can easily fit under it. The black color of the motorbike and spoked 19-inch wheels give it brutality and additional power, which the “Ural” does not too needy. A 2-cylinder four-stroke engine with a volume of 750 cm3 and a power of 45 l/s, as well as a 4-speed reverse gearbox and a fuel tank with a capacity of 19 liters of gasoline are its main technical advantages.

Question about assembling a wheel for a Brembo disc brake. We need to clarify one point, don’t pass it by.

Need your advice. There is an option to purchase a hub from a modern Brembo wheel, as far as I could identify it. But there is no rim or spokes for it. For some reason, the person who currently has it said that a standard rim would not work. I would like to assemble a 19 wheel so that I don’t have to worry about replacing all the others. By knitting needles - 40 pieces. But they won’t fit on a regular wheel, as I understand it. Where can I pick it up? Is it worth it to start such an assembly at all, or to seriously overpay, but buy it assembled?

Photo of the same type of wheel, as I understand it.

What does a Brembo hub mean? You can buy a hub, the size of which fits the Ural spokes, screw a brake disc (Orion for example) to it and assemble the wheel. But install the Brembo caliper.

intruder86 Wed, 07/10/2015 — 20:44

So, making knitting needles of the required length is not a problem even without a thread-rolling die. But will, for example, a new removable spline fit on the old hub?

Antokha Wed, 07/10/2015 — 20:46

I won't need the splined part, because... the wheel is made purely for the front. Unfortunately, I don’t have a tool for rolling threads or knitting needles for experiments.

Antokha Wed, 07/10/2015 — 20:45

The hub is native to the Urals. Installed on models with Brembo disc brakes: tourist, retro, solo st. In the next topic I wrote about the fork and learned other subtleties about the wheels in general. Now the question is different - will a regular rim from regular wheels fit on such a hub? And what kind of knitting needles can be used to knit?

Antokha Wed, 07/10/2015 — 20:48

Internet searches yielded this photo. The rim is 19 and is very similar to the regular production version for old Urals. But this is just a photo. It will be a painfully expensive experiment.

KMZ Wed, 07/10/2015 — 20:58

A set of spokes with nipples from such a wheel costs RUR 1,800 and is available.

Antokha Wed, 07/10/2015 — 21:07

Can we match it with a chrome 19 rim? What's the price ?

molodoi-90 Wed, 07/10/2015 — 21:01

Judging by the spokes, a chamomile rim would be suitable

Antokha Wed, 07/10/2015 — 21:09

I would like to know this point more precisely. A mistake will be quite expensive) For some reason the person says that a regular rim did not fit. I'm not really sure what he was checking. And if I did, I don’t know which rim I tried.

molodoi-90 Wed, 07/10/2015 — 21:47

Compare the rim from the chamomile and the one you threw off in the photo above. On the rim under an aluminum hub there are 4 spokes tilted in one direction - 4 in the other. On the daisy there are 2 spokes

Mr_Vlad Wed, 07/10/2015 — 21:41

In the photo, the rim drilling angles are not quite chamomile - there is a difference in the short spokes, but it is small, chamomile should be knitted

Schatten Wed, 07/10/2015 — 22:38

A chamomile rim will not fit on this hub.

Antokha Wed, 07/10/2015 — 22:52

Can you find out in more detail the reason and where this information comes from? Something similar to a regular rim with this hub. Where is the catch? Has the distance between the holes for the spokes in the rim changed?

Schatten Wed, 07/10/2015 — 23:13

Below about the wheel with an aluminum drum hub - it’s right. The catch is this: if we look at the wheel from the side and start counting the crossed spokes, for example, starting from the nipple, then the odd pair in a wheel with a daisy will always be the farthest pair of spokes, and in a wheel with a disc (and in a “tourist” drum one) it will be the near one . To put it simply, they have a mirrored rim design.

Roadbreaker Wed, 07/10/2015 — 22:50

+1 will be assembled with the rim only from a luminous drum, I took a hub with spokes from Peter and spoke it onto a tourist rim, everything is fine.

Antokha Wed, 07/10/2015 — 22:54

Rim 19 was taken from such a wheel, right?

Roadbreaker Thu, 08/10/2015 — 05:10 interceptor Wed, 07/10/2015 — 23:24

Your hub is not the latest year of manufacture. It has normal tapered roller bearings and a brake disc... not a Spanish NG, apparently, although IMZ produced motorcycles with such discs, but it doesn’t matter.

The spokes for this hub are only your own. Or try shortening and bending long chamomile ones.

a lot of information on Brembes

Antokha Thu, 08/10/2015 — 21:17

Thank you everyone, I understood everything! I hope the rim will fit without any issues.

Antokha Sat, 10/10/2015 — 21:59

Yes, the trees are green. This is the answer I received from the seller today: “The rims don’t fit. The weld seam on a regular cast wheel is next to the hole for the camera. On the wheel you need, the weld seam is located further from this hole. We have such rims. I'll try to give it away. But I don't think it will work. There's a different angle on the spokes." Who is right? Who else has connected with this topic?

Mr_Vlad Sun, 11/10/2015 — 07:41 Antokha Sun, 11/10/2015 — 12:11

The majority were convinced that everything was going well. I contacted the seller and he wrote that they are different. Although he doesn’t even have 19-gauge knitting needles on hand to check. But they had the wheels assembled at the beginning of the year, incl. his words were also worth listening to. I'll most likely pick it up and try to assemble it myself. Then it will become clear whether it will come together or not. Otherwise, with this assembly of the Brembo fork, I got a lot of people here))) But the next assemblers will have information.

interceptor Sun, 11/10/2015 — 19:38

I'll tell you one thing for sure, in this blurry photo all the rims are the same in the location of the points under the spokes

Only on the front one the spokes are located at a slightly different angle.

APD. I just checked the rims especially for you. My wheels are assembled on absolutely identical rims, I can say that for sure. On the front one, the angle of the spokes is slightly different, but due to the rounded nipple and spherical point, everything comes together.

Antokha Sun, 11/10/2015 — 22:36

Is it yours in the photo? Somehow the rims on them don’t quite look like tourist ones. For tourists, the marking was always a stamp inside. The production date was marked there, apparently.

interceptor Sun, 11/10/2015 — 23:09

Badge! Antokha! These are 2013 rims! Have you seen many Ural rims younger than the 20th century?

VasyaPZ Sun, 11/10/2015 — 23:37

Max, don't confuse people. The rear aluminum rim fits poorly onto the front hub, and the front rim fits poorly onto the rear hub. You have to drill holes and bend the spokes. What for? You still need to match the rims to the hubs.

interceptor Mon, 12/10/2015 — 07:38

So Guru came and lied and still didn’t answer anything on the topic)))

He is disingenuous and silent))))

So, WHAT is the difference between aluminum front rims and rear ones? It remains to be assumed that only the angle of the spokes. The rear ones on my “tourist” drum hub are perfectly assembled, the spokes coincide in the direction of the points. And the front one is either assembled on the rear rim (as we found out earlier, it’s not factory, so anything is possible) or that’s how it should be.

PS. By the way, the bearings in the rear are ball bearings 62042RS SKF and there is no seal in the nut (I’ll install it myself). Wheels URAL May 2013.

PPP. You'll need to compare the catalog number.

PPPPS. I will buy an aluminum 19″ rim for the front/wheelchair hub in silver.

VasyaPZ Mon, 12/10/2015 — 11:53

In order not to multiply the tree, I answer Max with a separate branch. In addition to the direction of the spokes, the rear aluminum rim is also different from the front. pubs! The thickness of the material! Info from factory specialists. You've probably heard that the front hub was designed as a universal hub, for complete replacement of drums both front and rear. However, during the tests it turned out that the rear wheel is destroyed when the stroller is fully loaded. The spokes are torn out of the hub, the rim falls apart in half along the spokes. Therefore, changes were made: the hub was made according to the model of a time-tested drum one, and the rim profile was strengthened. This reinforced wheel handles the load well. BUT. The wheels are no longer replaceable. Now the problem has been conditionally solved with the help of a spare wheel, which is front-mounted in design, but with the possibility of installing a rear brake disc. There is a warning on this spare tire: do not go faster than 60 km/h and no further than 80 km until the first tire fitting. Clearly, they are playing it safe. But a fact is a fact. Now they have launched a new Citi model, it’s like a tourist, but with a retro stroller and on 18 wheels. There's a front wheel at the back. We decided to take a risk. But the design provides for no more than 2 crew members; there are not even any holes in the rear wing for a second saddle. It is possible that recently the rim profile has been unified and now the front one is the same in thickness as the rear one, I haven’t checked to be honest. In any case, the option you have: the front hub assembled on the rear rim is much more reliable than the opposite option: the rear hub on the front rim. The second option is a direct path to an accident.

ans: this is not a May 2013 wheel, but a rim. The wheel can be reassembled later. I already talked about seals. They were abolished when bearings with rubber seals were introduced. True, seals are reinstalled on modern wheels.

Modifications

The diverse motorcycle fleet of IMZ was decorated with new modifications of the “Tourist”:

  1. The khaki-colored “uniform” and special equipment are the distinctive features of the “Gear-Up” heavy motorcycle, which has been in service in the Russian Armed Forces for almost 18 years.
  2. Going for export, Ural “Retro”, which is still successfully sold in the car market of Western countries. It is created on the basis of the basic model of the "Tourist".
  3. Ural "Tourist 2WD", equipped with all-wheel drive.
  4. Choppers are one of the design ideas of IMZ. For example, the “Wolf” model is available with an extended frame and front fork.
  5. “Tourist T” is the main novelty of Uralmoto for the last 10 years. This motorcycle model, intended for foreign buyers, has become the most popular and sought-after brand of heavyweight bike “over there.”

People's motorcycle: a success story

In 1955, the military order was transferred to the Kiev Motorcycle Plant (it produced cars under the Dnepr ). The Urals had no choice but to switch to civilian consumers. And it is in this market segment that Irbit motorcycles have achieved incredible success. The first civilian model was the M-72M .

“It was a real workhorse.” In villages and small towns, this motorcycle literally performed the function of a horse: it was easy to bring a haystack or bags of potatoes for fishing. Take it anywhere! - says Alexander Bulanov .

At first, Irbit motorcycles did not have their own brand - only letter designations. The first car with a name was the M-61 model - it was called “Irbit” .

And only in 1961, when the M-62 model , Irbit motorcycles received the name “Ural” . At the same time, large-scale production of motorcycles began.

— Our most popular model over the years was probably the M-63 motorcycle. It was produced for 8 years: from 1963 to 1971,” says former plant director Nikolai Volozhanin .

Nikolai Volozhanin

Nikolai Ivanovich will turn 80 this year. He is a living legend of the Irbit Motor Plant ; he was its director twice. The first time was from 1979 to 1983, and the second time was at the end of the enterprise’s glory, from 1987 to 1995. He himself had three Urals , in which he participated in long-distance runs.

The most famous of them took place in 1968. Then a team of Irbitsk residents went to an international gathering of, as they would say today, bikers, which took place in Italy . According to the memoirs of Nikolai Volozhanin , nine motorcycle plant workers left Irbit on eight locally produced motorcycles . to Italian Perugia , where the rally took place, and back, driving 11 thousand kilometers - and with virtually no breakdowns. Probably, then “abroad” saw the Ural motorcycle . As Nikolai Ivanovich , even in the company of eminent brothers, “Ural” looked good. The technical lag of the Irbit motorcycle began later...
