Motorcycle SL750 Shiver (2007): technical specifications, photos, videos

Sportbike Aprilia Shiver SL 750 (2008)

Without any doubt, the Italians are specialists in V-twin engines. And Aprilia motorcycles are motorcycles to be reckoned with on the road. And in the spring of 2008, Aprilla introduced a new entry-level sportbike, the Aprilia Shiver 750, “awe-inspiring” (translated from English as “Shiver”). We can immediately say that the Aprilia Shiver is equipped with good suspension, excellent brakes and provides good driver comfort.

But the small volume of the fuel tank and the lack of choice of colors are not arguments in favor of the new Aprilia Shiver 750... but let’s not draw quick conclusions and let’s look into everything in more detail...

Name, appearance and essence of Aprilia Shiver 750.

And the name and appearance of the Aprilia Shiver 750 are “pretentious.” Firstly, “Shiver” is translated as “trembling” or “trembling”. And this name goes very well with the aggressive appearance of the sportbike. Even despite the impossibility of choosing colors, the motorcycle looks more than impressive. And, the aggressive metallic color of the motorcycle, combined with a transformers-style design, can really inspire awe and make opponents tremble in the knees... and attract the attention of female representatives (as Aprilia advertising motifs hint).

The Aprilia Shiver 750 is a mid-size naked sports bike for the entry level.

Aprilia's latest engine, the Shiver 750, is a liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin four-cylinder engine with two spark plugs per cylinder. The engine is capable of developing 95 hp. at 9000 rpm. and torque 8.25 kg/m at 7000 rpm. Due to the need to meet EURO-2 emissions requirements, as well as to provide tuning flexibility, the Aprilia Shiver engine is equipped with an injection system and twin Ride-by-Wire throttle bodies. In general, the latest and sophisticated electronic control of the Aprilia Shiver 750 sets new standards for naked motorcycles. For example, the use of Ride-by-Wire technology, for the first time in the motorcycle industry, has become part of standard equipment. And the electronic accelerator control of the Aprilia Shiver 750 optimizes the opening of the throttle valves according to numerous parameters, including engine speed, current gear and throttle position. Therefore, the Aprilia Shiver 750 engine is always able to provide optimal acceleration performance combined with low fuel consumption. These and many other innovative solutions used in the Aprilia Shiver 750 guarantee an even more complete and correct delivery of torque at low and medium speeds, optimizing acceleration.

The Aprilia Shiver 750's ultra-compact engine is neatly housed in a modular frame with two die-cast aluminum rear sections and a trellis-like tubular steel front section. The swingarm pivots in aluminum sections, with the right section forming the front mount for the Sachs single shock, which is adjustable for preload and rebound. The Aprilia Shiver shock absorber is complemented by a non-adjustable inverted fork. The impressive Aprilia Shiver 750 radial brakes are actually a copy of the Taiwanese Brembo with dual 320mm floating discs. At the rear there is a regular 245 mm disc and a two-cylinder caliper.

As we have already noted, the Aprilia Shiver 750 stands out with the so-called “transformers” style, which is most noticeable in the example of the Suzuki B-King. What can we say - the styling is good, looks impressive and especially suits the class. But the opportunity to choose from at least a couple of colors would be very useful.

Test drive Aprilia Shiver SL 750.

If you forget for a while about the appearance of the Aprilia Shiver 750 (some people like it, but others don’t), and focus on how this motorcycle behaves on the road, then it becomes clear “without any buts” that the Aprilia Shiver The 750 demonstrates amazing handling... and in general completely justifies and characterizes (only on the positive side) the great work that Aprilia engineers did in creating the Aprilia Shiver 750. The engine capacity is 750 cc. cm for Aprilia Shiver is not a problem. Of course, it doesn’t have the same low-end power as motorcycles with engines a liter larger in volume, but, to be honest, the Aprilia Shiver 750 doesn’t need it.

All you have to do is release the clutch for a “sharp start from a traffic light” and, in the first two gears, the front wheel of the Aprilia Shiver 750 lifts off the ground. For a more relaxed ride, the Aprilia Shiver 750's engine is responsive and smooth, making it easy to get around town. By the way, in the city, in fact, regardless of the full power of the motorcycle, in 90% of cases you will need only 50

85 hp, and how you use this power will determine whether you go really fast or achieve nothing. On the Aprilia Shiver 750, the tachometer can be cranked up to 9000 rpm. Despite the fact that real pickup is achieved already at 6000 rpm, and at the same time, gears are changed very easily. But “in close combat” (on winding village roads), when it is especially necessary to balance speed and grip, the Aprilia Shiver 750 is unlikely to be a winner.

I would like to note the vertical position of the driver (as on superbikes) ... it’s a pity that the small volume of the fuel tank (15 liters) is not at all conducive to long trips.

The steering of the Aprilia Shiver 750 is light and the geometry of the motorcycle combines equal parts agility, responsiveness and even forgives the driver for minor mistakes.

Description Aprilia SL 750 Shiver 2010

Description of the Aprilia SL 750 Shiver 2010 motorcycle is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls.

Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.

A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.

Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the Aprilia SL 750 Shiver, whose technical characteristics make it possible to call the model a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 749 cc. see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of more than 400 kb. cm, which includes the Aprilia SL 750 Shiver - this category of motorcycles simply cannot claim the title of “motorcycle for a beginner.” On the contrary, this is already a serious technique that requires certain control of motorcycle equipment with a smaller engine capacity. Yes, she attracts more attention, she is the most beautiful, fast, interesting and there is a huge selection of models. But as power increases, the weight of the motorcycle inevitably increases. In this class you are unlikely to find motorcycles lighter than 180 kg, unless they are the latest motorcycle models.

Development of a two-stroke motorcycle engine (Java 634)

Found power The magazine has already talked a lot about the operation of a motorcycle - about the care of electrical equipment, wheel balancing, and fuel consumption. This article is devoted to fine-tuning a two-stroke motorcycle engine. Many motorcyclists believe that to restore the engine's former power, it is enough to replace worn parts with new ones and carefully break in the car. This usually happens, but often, after completing the repair, they note with bewilderment its low efficiency and, having unsuccessfully tested various adjustment options, they conclude that it is impossible to get more from this engine. In fact, if all other systems are in good working order, very often it is possible to significantly increase the main parameters (power, throttle response, efficiency) of such a motor by fine-tuning, or rather, mutual adjustment of some of its parts. The fact is that, due to the requirements of mass production, As is the motorcycle industry, some sizes of parts, especially those produced by casting, have a fairly significant spread. EU.

To prevent the fork from knocking

How to eliminate play in the front fork rod in the upper bridge On some YAVA motorcycles, after 30 - 50 thousand kilometers, wear leads to play in the front fork rod in the upper bridge. It reveals itself with unpleasant knocking noises when driving on bad roads. Using foil to reduce the gap is ineffective, and tightening the nut does nothing. It was possible to eliminate the backlash using a special nut and a conical ring (Fig. 1). They are made of tool steel (you can, for example, use 40X) with hardening to a hardness of 45 - 50 HRC. We install new parts instead of the round nut, as shown in Fig. 2. When the upper nut is tightened, the split ring opens and tightly fixes the fork rod in the upper bridge. In this case, you do not need to install the lock washer. Rice. 1. Nut (left) and ring. Rice. 2. How to remove cylinders easier in Java. Protective pads for studs

Protective gaskets for studs After long-term use of a YAVA motorcycle, especially in rural areas, it can be difficult to remove the cylinders: dust and sand, mixing with oil, tightly clog the holes for the studs. In addition, during disassembly, some of this dirt gets into the crankcase, no matter how hard you try to close it. Head gasket I got rid of this trouble in the following way. I cut out six gaskets from raw rubber about 2 mm thick (according to the picture) and put them on the studs before installing the head. When the engine heats up, they vulcanize and reliably close the holes from dust. I have been successfully using this method for several years now. V. KOROTCHIKOV Gomel region, Ozerany 1989N07P33

Cross CZ – Chezet 980, 981, 984

Chezet 980, 981, 984 Soviet riders are well familiar with the Chezet-980 motorcycles, which are in service with many sports clubs. The Czechoslovakian production program, along with road motorcycles of the 125 and 175 cm3 classes, also includes sports motorcycles intended for cross-country racing. These machines are the most widely known. Many racers from the Soviet Union, East Germany, Poland, Austria, Belgium, the USA and other countries compete at them. To meet the demand of the export market, the company had to sharply increase the production of motocross cars. If in 1970 2,000 of them came out of the factory in Strakonice, then in 1971 there were already 5,000. This year it is planned to produce more than 8,000 cross-country “chesets” of different models. Today the company produces machines of three international classes: 125, 250 and 500 cm3. These models have “980” and “981” respectively. They are all quite similar in design, and two .

Aprilia Shiver 750. Nimble Italian

Italy... When you mention this word, the melodic language immediately comes to mind, and pictures of masterpieces of art by famous artists and sculptors appear in your head. It is not surprising that it was in this country that automobile and motorcycle models were created, which later went down in history as the most stylish and high-tech in the world.

Motorcycles are extremely popular in this picturesque country. Did you know that the first motor scooter came from Italy? But today is not about that. Today we would like to talk about a motorcycle from one of the most famous brands from Michelangelo’s homeland – Aprilia. In 2007, the Shiver 750 premiered, which subsequently became the manufacturer’s calling card among urban street fighters.

Our test park turned out to be a far from new device from the same year when it was presented to the world community. But, despite this, this model is still produced without significant changes in design and construction.

Appearance

The Aprilia Shiver 750 looks simply gorgeous! The angular headlight is divided transversely for high and low beam, and on the sides there are flat vertical dimensions. Above it, the small “burlap” of the instrument panel fits perfectly. More recent modifications already have a small fairing. The fuel tank is hidden under many plastic parts, visually enhancing its massiveness. Beneath it is an unconcealed trellis frame that envelops the bike from the rear wheel to the handlebars. As conceived by the designers, the embossed aluminum pendulum has small longitudinal cutouts on both sides.

The back of Shiver deserves special attention. Two triangular-shaped mufflers peek out from under the seat, externally sewn into a plastic heat-insulating shell. For greater effect, they are not located parallel to each other, but are directed to one point slightly above the motorcycle itself. A small brake light flows around them on top, extending the tail of the body.

This whole idyll is completed by branded multi-spoke 17-inch wheels, which are traditionally equipped with almost all Aprilia models.

Comfort and ergonomics

Sitting behind the wheel of the Shiver, the first thing you will notice is that this is a motorcycle for people of medium and large build. This is not surprising, because, for the most part, European manufacturers make equipment specifically for such people, unlike their colleagues from Asian countries.

The overall fit is quite comfortable, the body is in a natural position, movements are not constrained in any way. Large foot wells make it easy to grip the car. By the way, the plastic decor in these places is intentionally painted.

Thanks to the wide handlebars, the bike is easy to control at low speeds, and its turnout does not make you feel much discomfort when maneuvering between rows.

The well-shaped two-tier seat is quite soft, although there is not as much space for the passenger as we would like. In addition, it has two large handles on the sides, which perfectly match the overall design of the motorcycle. True, since they are made of plastic, none of my passengers risked completely trusting them.

As for the controls, everything is in its place, no comments. The instrument panel consists of a central monitor with large speedometer digits, as well as an analogue odometer.

There is so much to see on the main display of our horse... In addition to the classic indicators of speed, mileage, clock and engine temperature, here you can see such things as ambient temperature, fuel consumption, and also, attention, a chronometer! Well, why measure lap times on the street? Perhaps the Shiver 750 tidy was inherited from his sports brother Aprilia RSV4. The designers decided not to remove this function, thinking, let the owners of the Shivers “blame”...? In general, we have not found an answer to this question.

The massive selector on the left grip is designed to manipulate the on-board computer. The rider can change the brightness of the red backlight of the central display, control the indicators displayed on it, and most importantly, control the Drive by Wire system. Our device is not equipped with it, but we simply have to tell you about it. This system is responsible for the throttle position and, in fact, changes the behavior of the bike itself depending on the selected mode. There are only three of them, each designed for its own specific use. Thus, if we select the “Rain” parameter, “aprishka” will be as flexible as possible. The middle “Touring” mode is best suited for everyday driving in economy mode, although it can still take off quite nicely from traffic lights. And, of course, “Sport” - it reveals all the agility of this Italian stallion, but more on that a little later.

Drive

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the Aprilia Shiver 750 is its engine. This is a V-shaped setup with a 90-degree camber angle, located along the motorcycle. Each of the two cylinders has four valves, two spark plugs and two camshafts, the drive of which is carried out according to a mixed scheme, in which there is a chain and gears. It was this arrangement that allowed engineers to make the engine extremely compact.

As for its main characteristics, 95 horsepower is available at 9000 rpm, and the maximum torque of 81 Nm is achieved at 7000 rpm.

After pressing the “Start” button, the pleasant rumble of the engine and the sound coming from a pair of rear pipes make the hair on your arms involuntarily stand on end. The first thoughts are that there is no need for forward flow here! You immediately understand why the model was called Shiver (literally translated it means Trembling).

We remove the side stand, the special indicator goes out, squeeze the hydraulic clutch, engage the gear... So, let's go!

The “Vashka” spins up very quickly and instantly lifts the motorcycle from its place. It cheerfully picks up speed for a hundred or more, just have time to switch short gears, which, by the way, stick in easily and accurately. Neutral can also be felt without any problems.

Acceleration to 170-180 km/h occurs quickly and evenly. The electronics ensure a linear distribution of power and traction, but here the problem of all naked bikes is already felt - the lack of wind protection. That’s why I didn’t fire up the Shiver 750 even more, even though it asked for it. I can say that even at such speeds you feel quite confident, the bike does not force you to catch yourself with every gust of wind. This is another plus for the engineers of the Italian concern, because the center of gravity of our bike is relatively high, and according to the laws of physics, the higher the center of gravity, the worse the stability.

To sum up the conversation about dynamics, it must be said that the power plant does not allow the Shiver to compete with its four-cylinder brothers on long straights, but in short-distance shooting it is difficult for it to find a rival.

Regarding fuel consumption, it can be noted that our iron friend consumes it in moderate quantities. The average in the city was 6.5-7 liters per 100 km, and on the highway it was less than five. Quite decent numbers for such power.

The motorcycle slows down just as confidently as it accelerates. Even during emergency braking, it won't make you sweat. Two floating 320 mm front discs with radial 2-piston calipers, as well as a rear 240 mm disc with a 1-piston caliper, work just fine. In addition, those interested can purchase a modification equipped with an ABS system.

Speaking of the chassis, it is worth saying that at the front of the Shiver 750 there are 41-mm upside-down fork stays, the pendulum is connected to the frame via a monoshock absorber, shifted to the right side relative to the longitudinal axis of the motorcycle.

When driving on “our” roads (as you might guess, it’s not for nothing that I put this word in quotes), the suspensions handle unevenness truly perfectly. Even big potholes and potholes will be given to you with the smallest cost. In addition, it is worth noting the relatively high ground clearance, which allows you to easily climb curbs, as well as overcome a lot of other high obstacles. The only nuance is the protruding exhaust manifold pipe, which is always ready to take the blow of a flying stone or catch some obstacle.

Let's sum it up

So what can we say about the Aprilia Shiver 750? In my opinion, this is a truly unique device that perfectly complements the list of middle-class urban naked bikes. It will be appreciated by riders who love to ride, as they say, “according to the mood,” ranging from leisurely walks to driving rides.

The Italians have definitely achieved their goal by creating a motorcycle that will attract the admiring glances of people passing by, as well as delight its owner with ease of control, a high level of comfort and the dynamic characteristics of the power plant.

25.04.2014
I'll start my review by saying that I sold my stallion a week ago. Having safely ridden it for 2 and a half seasons, driving a total of something like 12,000 thousand km. From the very first lines of this review I can say with confidence that the spendthrift is gorgeous! While selling the motorcycle, I couldn’t shake the feeling of parting with something close and dear, with a part of myself. I was prompted to write this review by some sense of duty, perhaps, to an old friend who faithfully served me all this wonderful time. This motorcycle opened up Italy to me, that Italy where Aprilia and Ducati, Ferrari and Armani are born... A country where every business is approached with passion and fanaticism, unique only to this small piece of land. Well, perhaps that’s enough of the lyrics, let’s get on with the review: I got my motorcycle with a full direct-flow LeoVinci system, I still can’t explain the sound, and the video on YouTube probably won’t convey it either, for me it evokes an association with the ROAR OF A FURIOUS LION, so much strength and emotions in it... The landing is straight, high, the steering wheel is wide with a variable section, you can feel the quality and solidity (I immediately remembered the Yamaha sabotage steering wheel - wow!) The rear swingarm and wheel are beautiful!!! (unlike even the larger Japanese counterparts of the same class (I won’t name names)) The front fork, although without adjustments, worked out to five points, my 74 kg even with a passenger. The clutch is hydraulic, soft, maybe even a little flimsy. The box is clear and at the same time soft, the moves are short, just super. In the city, every now and then I caught myself thinking that I was looking for 7th gear, you know what I’m getting at... The engine is torquey, the traction is smooth with a nice revival after 5500 t rpm. up to 7500. The cutoff is somewhere around 9000 thousand. I was pleasantly surprised by the fuel consumption, highway 120-130 - 5.5 liters. In the city 6.5 liters. I refueled about every 200 km. In comparison with the same Hornet, the suspension is significantly more energy-intensive... where I braked in panic on the Hornet in front of a hole or a recumbent, on the Shiver I just stood up on the pegs and added gas)). From time to time I drove onto the dirt road outside the city, because... The asphalt is not suitable for the dacha, at first I was spectacled, but then I was driving like on an endura)))) standing with my legs clamped to the bike, if the tires were on my heels, I would have knocked down like on a cross-country))). It reaches the maximum speed of 213, not too readily, but up to 170-180 without straining. It starts to deflate somewhere around 160 km/h, then it’s a struggle with the flow. 150 is a thrill without stress, you need to speed up, click down, lean over, and disappear))) The brakes are excellent in the front at any speed, I used the back at half strength, because... The VE unit brakes well on reset (and without blocks, softly and predictably). I’m 173 cm tall in the morning, I’m not short, I warn you right away, I don’t stand with a full foot, but this is a matter of habit... but then you get a thrill when you fly past the sun loungers, etc... Whoever is thinking about taking it or not, TAKE IT! the spendthrift is FREAKY!
