Snowmobile Tundra

Externally, the Tundra has an attractive design and an original yellow-gray color. The machine is equipped with a single-cylinder two-stroke engine with a power of 27 hp. and a working volume of 269 cm? with air-type cooling, thanks to which utilitarian snowmobiles can move on ice. Standard equipment on this model includes heated grips, a tow bar and a fuel gauge. The engine is started using an electric starter. The brake system is represented by a reliable hydraulic mechanism. The snowmobile weighs 172 kg, and the fuel tank capacity is 34 liters.

Requirements for operating the Skido Tundra 2 snowmobile

Throughout the entire testing of the model in different conditions, all breakdowns that occur with the snowmobile are associated with improper operation. The most common cause of malfunction is the replacement of spare parts, or rather their incorrect selection.

For Ski Doo Tundra to work perfectly and without failures, you must adhere to the following requirements:

  1. Strict control of oil in the fuel mixture.
  2. The equipment must be handled with care, otherwise water will penetrate into the oil tank and settle. If frozen, it will block the oil line.
  3. Loss of elasticity of oil seals is a common problem when snowmobiles are not properly preserved. In the future, during operation, the engine will overheat and seize.
  4. Spark plugs should be installed only original ones, this will avoid burning out the engine piston.

You need to carefully monitor the tracks; you can replace them yourself at the first sign of wear.

The lineup

Snowmobiles in the Ski-Doo Tundra 550 line are available in only one color scheme, which combines yellow and black. Body lines remain unchanged for all modifications. Also a distinctive feature of this snowmobile bike is its “predatory” pointed “muzzle” with a sharp cut of the headlights.

In addition to the 550 model, the Tundra line includes variations of the 300F and LT 800, which have engines with 27 and 65 horsepower. The 550th model represents the golden mean. A 57-horsepower power unit is installed under the hood of this truck. Despite the fact that this truck is positioned as utilitarian, it combines elements of a sports and mountain bike.

Other types of snowmobiles BRP Tundra

Tundra Ski Doo snowmobiles are manufactured by the Canadian company Bombardier. The brand released its first snowmobile back in the late 50s of the last century and is still considered one of the best manufacturers of such equipment in the world.

Nowadays, several series are put on stream, each of which implies use under certain conditions. The characteristics of the models allow us to distinguish the following main divisions:

  • types for recreation and tourism are divided into three subtypes: crossovers for deep snow, tourist and utilitarian-tourist;
  • utilitarian models are distinguished by greater weight, reliable operation in any conditions, greater traction and excellent cross-country ability; special gears will help you climb various slopes and carry maximum luggage;
  • High-strength mining products are distinguished by excellent quality components, all parts have a wear margin;
  • sports models are made from heavy-duty materials, because for such products a lot of weight can play a cruel joke; most of them weigh only about 200 kg.

The technical aspect is important for the manufacturer, so each model is tested after assembly.

Tundra Series

Ski-Doo Tundra snowmobile models belong to the utilitarian-touring class. They are successfully used in conditions of low temperatures and increased snowfall, easily overcoming climbs and snowdrifts, feeling confident on a compacted road.

The line includes snowmobiles Tundra 300F, Tundra LT 550, Tundra WT 550F, Tundra LT 600 ACE, Tundra Xtreme 600 E-TEC, Tundra LT V-800, which differ in engine power and some options. Thus, the 300 F model is equipped with a 27 hp engine, while the LT 550 and LT 600 already have 57 hp. The Tundra Xtreme has 117 hp, while the LT V-800 has ? 65 hp Almost all Tundra snowmobiles are equipped with a two-stroke engine, with the exception of the V-800. But considering that the cars are operated in difficult climatic conditions, this is even a plus; they start faster.

The entire series is considered to be a light machine because it is light in weight. The Tundra 300 F weighs only 172 kg. The most stable model is considered to be the WT 550F, since it has the widest (50 cm) track, which is reflected in the name WT? wide track.

As for the engine, the main models use the ROTAX 550 F, carburetor, air-cooled. The air is supplied by a fan and enters with a counter flow of air. The motor is generally reliable, but requires suction during startup at very low temperatures. For this purpose, there is a manual starter on the panel. The ROTAX 600 E-TEC installed on the Tundra Xtreme has the most reliable oil delivery system, directing it exactly to the places that need lubrication most? on the cylinder walls and crankshaft. An injection system with precise dosage ensures smooth engine operation even at idle. [ads-pc-1]

Market price

The pricing policy for products of this type has always been quite high, it is worth understanding that a real snowmobile from Canada cannot be cheap. Depending on the year of manufacture and mileage, the price will decrease or increase.

Now a snowmobile in perfect condition can be bought from many exporters, the price will vary from 400,000 rubles. When purchasing, you should pay attention to the “filling” of the product, as the cost may vary. You can buy a secondhand product cheaper, some sell it for 200,000 rubles, and if you’re lucky, you can buy a snowmobile of this type in good condition for 100,000 rubles.

Price and where to buy

Since the production of this series has already ceased, it is almost impossible to find a new snowmobile without mileage. On ad sites for BRP Ski-Doo Tundra WT 550, the price for this and earlier models varies between 400 - 750 thousand rubles. The cost of the truck depends on the technical condition, year of manufacture, as well as the kilometers traveled. Thus, an LT 550 all-terrain vehicle manufactured in 2010 with a range of 5,000 km will cost 460 thousand rubles, and a VT 550 model from 2014, which has covered 1,000 km, will cost 750 thousand rubles.

You can also find bikes that have virtually no mileage. In this case, the price even for a sample of an earlier year of manufacture will be higher than for a later one. Such a snowmobile will cost about 500 thousand rubles, even if it came off the assembly line in 2009.

Owner reviews

Snowmobiles from this manufacturer are popular, as evidenced by reviews, most of which are positive.

I bought it a long time ago, and at the first test I was impressed by its ease of control, powerful engine and excellent cross-country ability even in a dense forest. I was able to wipe the noses of my friends who don’t recognize anything other than Yamaha.

I hunt and for me there is no better option. Even if the Snowmobile sits down, two people can easily push it out. I'm glad that the engine starts without problems even when it's -40 outside.

This snowmobile model captivated me with its excellent cross-country ability and relatively low fuel consumption. Lighting at night is quite sufficient, a good option for both hunting and fishing.
