On June 12–13, Russia will host a stage of the World Motocross Championship

MXGP 2022: Russian Motocross Grand Prix

This year, May Day became not only a holiday of spring and labor, but also a day of Russian motorsport, because it was on this day that the next annual stage of the MXGP 2018 World Motocross Championship took place.

The Russian stage of the international competition took place on the track of the sports and technical complex of the All-Russian Children's Center "Orlyonok" on April 30 and May 1. Its participants included more than a hundred racers from 28 countries: Russia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Great Britain and the USA.

Several domestic athletes took part in the Russian Grand Prix

The World Motocross Championship is a large and very important competition, the holding of which is supported at the level of the Government of the Russian Federation and the administration of the Krasnodar Territory. We took our preparations responsibly and hope that our joint work will once again prove its effectiveness. Last year we successfully held the Russian Motocross Grand Prix and are ready to further improve the track and improve the opportunities for riders and spectators. Thank you for your trust and a real holiday for Russia.

Director of the All-Russian Children's, Alexander Dzheus.

Unlike last year's stage, when the weather presented a surprise to the participants and organizers, this year in the first half of the May holidays in the Krasnodar region there was warm, sunny weather. Crossmen competed in four qualifying classes: EMX250, EMX300, MX2 and MXGP, and most of them were satisfied with the event.

Foreign guests were greeted with due hospitality

The audience enjoyed the enchanting show and cheered for their compatriots, Evgeniy Bobryshev, Vsevolod Brylyakov and other Russians, who simply had no end to fans these days. This kind of support really means a lot to our athletes, helping them overcome difficult stages in their careers.

Many participants liked the track in the Krasnodar region for its configuration

At the end of the weekend, Zhenya Bobryshev rose to twelfth place in the championship, and Seva Brylyakov dropped to seventh. In addition, at the Russian stage, Brylyakov injured his ligaments, and therefore the athlete required medical attention.

Even the most decorated athletes, such as Jeffrey Herlings and current world champion Antonio Cairoli, noted the complexity and intricacy of the course on which they had to compete.

“It is a great honor for us and a great responsibility to open the sports season in the World Championship,” said Alexander Dzheus, president of the Russian Motorcycle Federation. “And it’s doubly pleasant that this will take place here in Orlyonok, despite the great difficulties that the whole world has been facing for more than a year. We will have to work very hard to make this motorsport festival safe, but we will do it. All requirements and restrictions will be observed. Both spectators and drivers, I am sure, will have a real pleasure!”

This year the MXGP of Russia racing weekend will be held in a two-day format. Saturday, June 12, will be entirely Russian - the country's best athletes will compete for the Eaglet Cup. And on Sunday, June 13, the stars of the world motocross, including leading Russian pilots, will take to the track and show their skills in qualifying and racing races.

Spectators and fans will be able to enjoy not only the roar of racing engines and see the magnificent fight on the track: as always, at the Russian stage, the MXGP Village shopping and entertainment zone awaits them. Off-road motorsports news

In preparation for the Russian stage of the world motocross championship MXGP of Russia, from March 29 to 31, an international educational and sports seminar “MXGP ACADEMY FIM” was held in Orlyonok for instructors (coaches) and athletes. Specialists from different regions of Russia came to the seminar, ready to learn from world experience in organizing the training process, undergo training and receive an official certificate. Among them are 36 coaches and 26 riders, the youngest of whom is only eight years old.

On the first day of the seminar, MXGP ACADEMY coordinator and coach Martin Van Genderen

told Russian specialists about the development of a new classification system for coaches and athletes, comparing it to receiving belts of different colors in karate.

“MXGP ACADEMY will train and improve the skills of specialists and motorcycle racers,” said Martin. – Like last year, such training will be carried out as part of the Russian stage of the World Motocross Championship in Orlyonok. The new system will lead to stronger motivation for professional development for both coaches and athletes. Like a computer game, they will move from level to level, increasing their theoretical knowledge and practical skills.”

The seminar began with theoretical training, but the very next day its participants went out onto the track, where they received practical experience.

At the end of the theoretical classes, Martin Van Genderen, together with the President of the Russian Motorcycle Federation, Director of the Orlyonok All-Russia Children's Center Alexander Dzheus, presented the seminar participants with certificates of compliance with MXGP ACADEMY coaching activities.

“We must raise an athlete discretely - step by step, teach him to be not just a good motcross athlete, but also to be able to control his physical fitness, eat right, interact with sponsors, build relationships with the team and mechanics. MXGP ACADEMY teaches these elementary truths. We are also planning to hold a large seminar for mechanics, because now the level of our athletes is quite high, the equipment is complex, and in Russia, unfortunately, there are few trained specialists, which also hinders the development of motocross. Motorcycles have complex settings that depend on the type of track, weather, weight of the rider, and riding characteristics. Motocross is a very complex and synthetic sport that requires many people and specialists trained in the necessary competencies. We are now solving these problems,” commented Alexander Dzheus

.

The organizers of the seminar “MXGP ACADEMY FIM” were the Russian Motorcycling Federation, the All-Russian Children's and the Yakhnich Motorsport company.

We remind you that the Russian stage of the World Motocross Championship will be held on April 30 and May 1 on the track of the sports and technical complex of the All-Russian Children's Center "Orlyonok" (Krasnodar Territory, Tuapse district). Guests of MXGP of Russia 2022 will enjoy an unforgettable weekend, during which they will see 8 exciting races: 2 races in each of 4 classifications (MXGP and MX2 in the World Championship, as well as EMX250 and EMX300 in the European Championship). Real fans will have the opportunity to visit the racing paddock and see how world-class equipment is being prepared for competitions, get an autograph from the stars of world and Russian motocross and take a photo with them. And in the entertainment town MXGP Village you can always have a snack and buy souvenirs.
