2022 MOTOCROSS SCHEDULE
The 2022 Motocross Championship is underway and after two rounds of racing, Red Plate and Points-based Ken Roczen leads by 1 point over 450 rookie and last year's 250 National Champion Dylan Ferrandis. Ken and Dylan were the fastest and most consistent, with Aaron Plessinger the next best driver. He is in third place after two rounds, 14 points behind Roczen. Two other standout riders were 450 youngsters Adam Cianciarulo and Chase Sexton. They were also fast, but both suffered from errors and glitches.
Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb were expected to step up right away, but they struggled. Tomac trails Ken Roczen by 44 points and Cooper Webb trails by 38 points. Last year's champion Zach Osborne entered the season still nursing an injury, and he's still coping with the lingering effects from it, which resulted in his second DNF at Thunder Valley. It's been an exciting season and we still have ten races to go.
The 2021 round 12 Pro Motocross Championship schedule is unique as it starts with slow racing two weekends in a row, then one weekend before heading to High Point on June 19 and taking another week off. A slow start to the series will help drivers like Osborne, Webb and Tomac who haven't been ahead before. After three race weekends and two days off, things will look up. Round four on July 3 at RedBud will kick off the four-week race every Saturday. The series will then have two weekends as the MX Sports team heads to the Loretta Lynn National Amateur Championship. Finally, the series will resume again on August 14 at Unadilla and will race for five consecutive weeks to conclude the 2021 national season.

The Russian national motocross team took 9th place (group “B”) in the World Team Championship.
On October 5, the World Team Motocross Championship was held in Belgium on the territory of the Formula 1 racing track. Inside the ring track there is a track for motocross racing. The World Team Championship is a one-stage race held at the end of the season.
The top 3 riders in the country are allowed to participate in the race. The Team World Championship is a more prestigious race than the individual “Moto Grand Prix”. And one of the oldest (the Team World Championship has been held since 1947, while the individual World Championship has been held only since 1957.)
The Team World Championship is traditionally held in one class - “open”, in which motorcycles with an engine capacity from 125 to 450 cc are allowed. cm.
Cross-athletes from the USA, Belgium, Slovenia, Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Russia and others took part in the 2003 World Cup. The Russian team included: Alexander Ivanyutin
(YUKOS Motorsport, 250 cc),
Vitaly Tonkov
(Lukoil, 450 cc) and
Andrey Safronov
(STK Cross, 250 cc).
All cross-athletes who passed the qualification were divided into two groups - “A” and “B” - 12 people in each. The Russians were in Group B. The qualifying selection was very tough - out of 40 declared teams, only 24 were allowed to participate in the race. Ivanyutin was very worried before the start - the failures of the past seasons affected, when our guys could not qualify and get into the main race. 2001 was a bad year for the guys - the same Alexander Ivanyutin and Sergey Garin
. Garin then broke his arm and left the race, which is why the guys were unable to score the required number of points.
Therefore, qualification turned out to be the most important. Ivanyutin has never been so worried at the start. “My hands even started shaking. I was afraid that I might fail - I already had similar failures this season, when I could not qualify for the European Championship. I understood that not only the possibility of further performances of other Russian racers, but also the honor of the country depended on me. “But when the riders started, Ivanyutin’s excitement disappeared. He seemed to think about nothing more than speed. He fought like a lion, turning the throttle to the limit. Sometimes I drove at maximum speed on my Yamaha YZ-250. And the result was achieved - out of 120 racers, 21 of our cross-country racers qualified, which perplexed the panel of judges - for more than 20 years the Russians had not shown such results in the world. Our riders let ahead only the “monsters of cross-country”, Champions and medalists of the World Championship - Stefan Everts, Joel Smets, Avo Leok, Steve Ramon, Maximilian Nagl
.
It was easier in the main race. Our guys went to the start motivated to win after successful qualification. Because having gone through such a tough selection, they no longer had the right to arrive last.
All three were driving at full speed. And the result was deserved - 9th place in its group and 20th in the world ranking of countries. The first three places are traditionally occupied by Belgium, America and Finland.
Evgeniy Borisovich Parshin
, Chairman of the IRF cross-country commission: “The World Team Championship shows the country’s level in the development of motorcycle sports. And the fact that our guys took 9th place, and Russia was in the top twenty countries, is a great achievement. I sincerely thank you for your support of motorsport - over the last three years we have really moved up several levels.”
From history
The Russian team won the World Team Championship for the first time in 1968.
Composition: Shinkarenko, Petushkov, Pogrebnyak, Angers. The second time - only 10 years later, in 1978. Composition: Gennady Moiseev, Vladimir Kavinov, Valery Korneev, Vladimir Khudyakov. Since the mid-80s, when it was prohibited to use foreign equipment, our cross-country athletes stopped even qualifying. The new generation of riders first appeared in the Championship in 2001. Composition: Tonkov, Garin, Ivanyutin. Then Garin broke his arm and did not qualify. In 2002 – too. 2003 was the first successful year for Russia in the last 20 years.
