The RM Lynx 150 model is the optimal utilitarian-tourist ATV. Although this model has a power plant with a displacement of 150 cubic meters, this does not in any way affect the cross-country ability. The equipment is capable of withstanding the most difficult tests, including off-road conditions. The maximum engine power is 9.52 horsepower or 7 kilowatts. The motor is paired with a CVT, which provides not only ease of use, but also fairly smooth acceleration. The engine has a forced air cooling system, thanks to which it is protected from overheating. The standard equipment of the Lynx 150 ATV is equipped with rubber with increased lugs, which provides high grip on any surface. There are also components such as diode lighting equipment, an information display, and a removable luggage case.
The model differs from most of its analogues mainly due to excellent maneuverability, easy and convenient control, high quality of individual elements and the entire structure as a whole, as well as increased stability and sporty design at a fairly reasonable cost.

Is the Lynx 500 ATV comfortable?
An equally important quality that buyers look for in ATVs is comfort. It may be inappropriate to think about comfort when you overcome mud and swamps, but the manufacturer still tried here too
The softness when riding the Lynx ATV is ensured by the independent suspension, which handles all unevenness well, taking into account that the weight of the device is 344 kg. People who have been using this model for several years now note good brakes. The braking system is hydraulic with discs on both the front and rear wheels. And it’s worth saying that the brakes performed really well off-road. Even after large puddles and sand, the brake pads never squeaked or failed. It is not surprising that the Lynx is considered one of the most reliable Russian-made ATVs. In order for you to be able to take everything you need with you on the road, racks were also installed on Russian ATVs and trots.
To summarize, we can say that the Lynx 500 ATV is a truly reliable and high-quality device, which is not scary to go on a long journey. A lot has been done for this - a 17-liter tank has been installed, on which you can drive 100 km, various luggage racks and pockets for small items. But the main calling card of this “quad” is its reliable engine and high ground clearance, which are responsible for high maneuverability on any road surface.
Adjusting the fuel level in the float chamber of ATVs
The performance of a four-wheeler depends on the correct level of gasoline in the carburetor. An excessive amount will flood the candles, spill on the ground and lead to unnecessary expenses. If too little fuel is supplied, the engine simply will not start.
How to optimally adjust the fuel supply
- 4-stroke ATVs have carburetors with an opaque drain hose tube hanging down. Therefore, first of all, replace it with transparent one.
- Lift the free end of the hose up.
- Unscrew the drain screw next to the tube to get rid of excess fuel. Based on the amount of liquid entering the tube, determine the level of gasoline in the carburetor. The norm is the line (1-1.5 mm below is allowed) between the housing and the float chamber.
- To adjust the fuel supply level, open the float chamber and find the tab that covers the shut-off needle.
- By bending the tongue down, you will increase the intensity of fuel delivery. By bending it up, on the contrary, lower it. Perform all manipulations with caution, as the structure is quite fragile.
How to adjust the carburetor on an ATV? What should you pay attention to? What are the signs that the device is not being used correctly? About this today in our article. Using the proposed instructions, you can set up the carburetor step by step without the help of specialists.

The equipment was tested in various regions. The main tests took place in Yakutia, where the model performed very well. The improvements made in the Lynx 440 modification improved maneuverability and maneuverability.
A snowmobile is intended for moving people or transporting goods off-road at temperatures from +5 to -40 degrees. The car confidently drives on the crust at high speed. The design of the snowmobile is simple, so even an inexperienced driver can operate it. Maintenance and repair of equipment is often performed at home or in the field. Similar qualities and excellent cross-country ability of the Lynx 440 model made it very popular among fishermen, hunters and consumers who need to move in difficult conditions.
Production of the snowmobile officially ended in 2009. However, many owners continue to actively use the model today.

Lynx snowmobile fuel consumption | October 2022. The Lynx snowmobile is designed to work in the harshest conditions; it is able to maintain normal performance even at ambient temperatures down to -40 degrees Celsius. When starting with a manual starter, you need to smoothly pull the handle until resistance is felt, and then jerk sharply, returning the handle to its original state, holding it with your hand. |
- The carburetor is dipped in kerosene for 15 minutes.
- The elements are washed well and cleared of resin.
- Washing is done with unleaded fuel. Nozzles with air ducts are blown with compressed air.
- If the nozzles are severely clogged, they should be cleaned with a wooden stick soaked in acetone. You should not clean the injectors with wire, as this leads to increased fuel consumption.
- During the assembly process, each jet is installed in its place.
- To prevent changes in the original shape of the flanges, the carburetor nuts will need to be tightened evenly.
Electronics malfunctions • Rear suspension type: roller-slide.
Operating experience and features
Despite the success of the 110 model, reviews of the Lynx 150 ATV are far from ideal. Equipment owners, tempted by the affordable price, found a number of design problems:
- Poor build quality. In almost all devices the bolts are not tightened properly. If you don't tighten them right away, the car begins to fall apart while driving. Basically, the anthers fall off and the chain tensioner unscrews.
- Shaking. At low speeds the device behaves perfectly, but after the 35 km/h mark the car begins to vibrate. Because of this, problems arise with the main lighting, bolts become loose, etc.
- Poorly designed brakes. The factory assembly leaves much to be desired, so the user needs to independently inspect the mechanism and carry out alignment.
- Low load capacity.
Immediately after purchase, the owner of the Lynx 150 is recommended to carry out a full technical inspection, tighten the boots, change the brake pads, front hub seals, and secure the tie rod boots. Spare parts for domestic devices are cheap, so you can spend a couple of thousand rubles. With proper operation and timely maintenance, the machine will operate without serious breakdowns for 1-2 years.
Advantages of the device:
- Good maneuverability. Lynx 150 drives through mud, sand, and confidently handles off-road conditions.
- Controllability. The ATV confidently takes turns and does not try to cover the rider. The playful and maneuverable horse is suitable for teenagers and children over 10 years old.
- Powerful LED lighting.
- Reasonable price. A new device costs about 90 thousand rubles.
The stylish device does not need tuning. Of course, users dream of installing a trunk, a comfortable seat, a durable bump stop and other body kit, but it all comes down to carrying capacity. The maximum load of the device is 75 kg, which eliminates the possibility of modernization in the bud.
Reviews
- I bought it for my son. Now the mileage is 60 kilometers, running-in is taking place in the garden. We do not raise the speed above 25 kilometers per hour. During one drive, we noticed that the front brakes seemed to be missing, they stopped working. Upon inspection, it turned out that there were simply no brake pads. The design is not at all thought out, because if the pads are worn out, they fall out and the piston presses on the disc itself. We also almost lost the front wheel; we noticed it in time. There were boots on the steering rods, which later fell off due to dirt. As it turned out, clamps were not used there. The chain tensioner also came loose. The front hub seals are pressed very crookedly. This is where the problems ended for now, but confidence in reliability has noticeably decreased. The only advantages I would like to note are simple controls, good dynamics, and a fairly comfortable suspension.
- We purchased a Lynx 150 ATV, but were left with mixed impressions. It seems that the model is quite good, but at the same time it has a lot of shortcomings and shortcomings. Perhaps I'll start with the latter. The bolts are not tightly tightened from the factory, so you should check everything and tighten it immediately after purchase. The electrical wiring is poorly done; in some places the wires are too tight, which can cause them to fray. The brake calipers need alignment; again, they were installed crookedly from the factory. The pads came off once, although everything was fine. Now I’ll move on to its advantages, fortunately there are such here. I especially liked the engine; it has excellent traction throughout almost the entire range. The suspension is quite comfortable and completely absorbs minor bumps. The front optics shine well, there are no complaints about it. Consumption is low, cross-country ability is normal.
- In 2014, I bought a Lynx 150 ATV for 60 thousand rubles. I've been using it for over 3 years now. It handles great on the road. The engine pulls great and climbs without straining at all. What I especially liked about this model is that the fuel consumption is quite low, and, of course, its compact size, thanks to which it can travel almost anywhere. And due to its light weight, you can independently pull the ATV out of the mud if it gets stuck; I did this once. Very good ATV, I recommend it.
Competitors of the all-terrain vehicle RM 650 2
Despite the relatively low cost of the device, only 397 thousand rubles, the ATV has more than enough competitors. Rural residents and farmers prefer the six-wheeled 650 2. Fans of fishing and hunting choose the more compact RM 500 2 all-terrain vehicle.
Also, the model became a serious opponent for the device:
- Stealth ATV Leopard 650, created by . Stels is slightly more powerful (43.5 hp) and more economical. The model consumes only 10 liters of fuel per 100 km. But the device has a noticeable drawback - the volume of the fuel tank. A gas tank with a capacity of 14 liters is enough for only 140 km. Leopard also loses in terms of price; a new car will cost 429-439 thousand rubles.
- Arctic Cat MudPro 700 Limited. The American surpasses the RM 650 2 in technical characteristics, design and comfort. Of course, you shouldn’t expect anything less from the market leader. The only drawback of the American quad is the cost. The device from the showroom will cost an exorbitant amount - 899 thousand rubles.
- CFmoto A good alternative to the Russian Mechanics 650 2 ATV will be a Chinese device equipped with an engine with a displacement of 594 cc. see Model CF 625 is equipped with an automatic transmission, electric starter and other pleasant options that simplify the use of equipment. Of course, the price is a little confusing; a used quad will cost 300-400 thousand rubles.
Judging by the reviews, the PM 650 2 ATV can compete even with such market giants as Polaris, Yamaha, Arctic Cat, etc. In fact, domestic equipment is let down by the build quality and rather meager “filling”. The machine is more like a workhorse, designed to perform agricultural tasks.

Why do you need carburetor adjustment at all?
For stable operation of the ATV, it is necessary that the engine receives the optimal amount of fuel mixture corresponding to its speed range. Otherwise, the following problems may occur:
- Difficulties with the factory, the engine constantly stalls.
- Weak power characteristics, sluggish response to the throttle trigger.
- Poor dynamics when accelerating from the bottom, accompanied by spontaneous jerks when moving.
- Dips observed mainly during overclocking.
- High fuel consumption.
- Excessive formation of carbon deposits on the walls of the combustion chamber and, as a result, overheating of the engine.
What needs to be done in this case:
- Adjust the idle speed using the mixture quality screw and the number of revolutions.
- Adjust the quality of the mixture using a needle.
- Adjust the fuel level.
Important! Make adjustments only when the carburetor is cleaned inside and out, and when the engine is warmed up to operating temperature.

119
The Lynx 119 model belongs to the class of tourist vehicles. It is distinguished by a powerful engine and a high level of design reliability and maneuverability.
The device is equipped with a two-stroke power unit with a forced air cooling system. The engine of this vehicle is made taking into account the Euro-3 environmental fuel standard. The maximum speed is 90 km/h. The instrument panel reflects only two parameters: speedometer; gasoline level sensor.
440
The machine's track mechanism is made of rubberized material and equipped with rods, which will help increase the period of its use.
The 4-stroke power unit is cooled by the penetration of snow into the intake device. If you drive for a long time in an area with little snow, the engine may overheat.
500
The snowmobile is equipped with a 6-gear gearbox and a powerful two-stroke engine. The vehicle is capable of towing a tow hitch whose weight does not exceed 250 kg.
A motor from a Japanese manufacturer is installed here; the engine is made in accordance with the international environmental standard Euro-3. The track device is made of rubber and fabric and equipped with a reinforced rod.
The starting system is powered by an electric starter, which helps start the unit even in low temperatures.
This snowmobile was released in several versions (modifications).
We invite you to familiarize yourself with them:
- 500+. This version is presented as a touring car, but not a work car. It uses a caterpillar track with a width of 500 mm, which ensures good maneuverability on different surfaces. This modification comes with an electric starter as standard.
- 500M. This device is a basic version with a modernized front part, instead of the old carburetor, a carburetor with a 1st chamber made in Japan of the Mikuni type was installed. The basic equipment of this modification includes an electric starter.
- 500MP. This modification has an improved hood and a single-chamber carburetor. In this version, a gear-type gearbox was installed. Externally, the device is completely identical to the previous modification. The basic equipment for the 500MP modification includes an electric starter.
Now “Lynx” has gained great popularity because it allows you to carry out all the necessary tasks, in particular, moving to difficult places.
Sports 121
The sports version is shortened. Due to this, the device increased its maneuverability.
The tracks of the Lynx Sport 121 snowmobile are created with an improved power core - this provides certain guarantees of high reliability of the developed design.
Adjusting the fuel level in the float chamber of ATVs

Technical characteristics Lynx 500
This ATV has a four-stroke engine with a volume of 500 cm3 and a power of 32 hp. To supply fuel, a well-known Chinese carburetor is installed here, which showed itself well when testing the “quad”. For high-quality engine cooling, a liquid cooling system is installed here. It is worth saying that it copes with its tasks very well, efficiently cooling the engine even in hot weather. The maximum speed of the ATV is 80 km/h and this is basically enough, because this is a class of utilitarian ATVs.
For better cross-country ability, of course, all four wheels work here, that is, the lynx is an all-wheel drive ATV. The transmission is controlled by a variator, which has a reverse speed, a low range, and a front differential lock. Twelve-radius wheels are more than enough to overcome various bumps, driving on gravel or sand, so there is no point in changing them immediately after purchase.
Description of the model “Lynx RM 150”
The Lynx RM 150 ATV of the domestic brand “Russian Mechanics” is in demand on tourist trips. The model is also suitable as a functional wheeled all-terrain vehicle. It was released in 2022 in Russia. The engine capacity is 150 cm³.
Thanks to a well-designed chassis and rubber with increased lug, the machine can easily overcome very difficult terrain. And thanks to the installed forced cooling system, engine overheating under increased loads is out of the question.
The vehicle is equipped with a removable trunk and LED headlights. Another feature is a more comfortable location of the gear shift lever.
Disadvantages of the Lynx snowmobile
Before purchasing, it is recommended to find out about the main disadvantages:
- chain transmission;
- large turning radius;
- rigid suspension;
- engine;
- electrician;
- fuel system.
Owners of Lynx, in particular the 500 model, are experiencing problems with the gearbox chain. It must be adjusted very often: first after traveling 25 km, and then 50 km, during break-in, then after 150 and every 300 km. After purchase, in the 2nd year of operation, the chain in the gearbox and the bolt on the ignition system may break.
Engine problems
Despite good technical characteristics, engines fail. The reason for this is wear and tear. Most often, owners encounter the following breakdowns:
- noises;
- malfunctions;
- increased fuel consumption;
- increased oil consumption;
- reduction in engine power.
Another cause of problems is carburetors; after the manufacturer switched to Japanese ones, most of the problems disappeared on their own.
Expert opinion
Rukin Daniil
Snowmobile specialist "Buran". I go fishing in my free time.
The weak point of 2-stroke engines is the spark plugs. Oil and gasoline, when mixed, can damage the spark plugs, making it impossible to start the engine cold. Because of this, it is recommended to use several extra spark plugs on a long snowmobile trip. Problems with the reed valves and carburetor can also cause the engine to not start properly.
Electronics malfunctions
The snowmobile begins to stall when there is no spark; if the spark plugs are working correctly, the cause of the malfunction may be the coil. The owner can replace these elements himself.
Fuel system: malfunctions
Incorrect fuel supply and increased or low gasoline consumption are signs of gasoline pump problems; in order to eliminate them, you need to thoroughly clean the part.
A positive quality of domestic snowmobiles is fast and inexpensive repairs that do not cause problems. Original spare parts for all-terrain vehicles can be purchased at many automobile stores, and some of them are similar to motorcycle parts.
How to adjust carburetor idle speed on an ATV
- To get rid of condensation that regularly appears in the carburetor, drain the fuel from the float chamber - close the fuel valve and unscrew screw No. 1 until it stops. Wait for the gasoline to drain completely and tighten screw No. 1 back.
Note. The location of the bolts may vary on each carburetor model, so check the instructions that came with your carburetor.
Design and functionality
The Lynx 119 model replaced the Lynx 113 modification and received major changes. The engine displacement has been reduced, and the purge windows have become wider. Powerful cooling and the appearance of sleeves have reduced the number of breakdowns associated with engine cylinders. The appearance of the equipment has also changed. Lynx 119 received a modernized hood and pan, the fragile fiberglass was replaced with plastic.
The Lynx 119 is comfortable to drive. The steering wheel does not touch your knees even during sharp turns. Roomy footrests prevent them from slipping. The seat is made soft. The instrument panel is minimalistic - it contains only a fuel level sensor and a speedometer.
Lynx 119 has a standard layout for utilitarian snowmobiles with a durable steel frame and a load-bearing welded metal hood. The dimensions of the car are average. The body comes in black, blue and white.

The caterpillar is a closed rubber-fabric tape with vulcanized rods that provide lateral rigidity. To obtain the necessary adhesion force to the ground, rubber lugs of a certain profile are molded on the outside of the track web.
On the inner surface of the track there are teeth (langes) to ensure the engagement of the sprocket teeth with the track surface and the transmission of the rotational motion of the transmission drive shaft into the translational movement of the track. There are rectangular windows on both sides of the track to ensure that the runner guide pads are lubricated with snow. Steel brackets are installed on the jumpers between the windows to strengthen the jumpers and serve as guides for the track suspension runners.
Riding a snowmobile with dropped or damaged brackets can result in excessive wear on the skid pads and rapid track failure due to abrasion and tearing of the bridges between the windows.
The track drive shaft serves to convert the rotational motion of the drive sprockets into forward motion of the snowmobile.
The shaft has two bearings. The left bearing is installed in the left half-crankcase of the gearbox, the right bearing is installed in the speedometer housing and is attached with a flange plate to the spar of the power unit. Four sprockets are pressed onto the shaft: two side sprockets 1, 4 and two central ones 3. At the left end of the shaft there is a groove through which rotation is transmitted to the speedometer drive gearbox, from where through a flexible shaft to the speedometer located on the snowmobile dashboard.
The track suspension, together with the drive sprockets and track, serves to convert the rotational motion of the drive sprockets into forward motion of the snowmobile. The suspension consists of two guide skids 5 with skid pads 6, connected to each other by the front bracket 1, brackets for attaching the road wheels 9, 32, link 17 and rear brackets 13, 15 and axle 18.
Engine
The Lynx 500 snowmobile is equipped with a gasoline two-stroke power plant. This unit has only two cylinders in the block, the total working volume of which is 0.431 liters. The rated output power reaches 29.42 kilowatts, which translates to 40 horsepower. An air-forced cooling system is used, which allows the machine to be operated not only at low temperatures, but also in warm conditions. The lubrication system uses a special mixture that includes gasoline and oil. This provides the lubricating fluid with frost resistance, which is one of the necessary parameters in harsh operating conditions. The engine consumes about 20 liters of gasoline for every hundred. It is unpretentious in terms of the quality of the fuel being poured, but it is worth noting that gasoline of at least AI-80 is required. The engine is started manually, however, an electric starter can also be included in the package. A non-contact electronic ignition system is used, ensuring smooth and stable operation of the unit under various operating conditions.
Due to the complete cessation of mass production of the Lynx 500 snowmobile, finding it in a completely new technical condition is quite a difficult task, and it is not a fact that there are still such ones left. Used cars are available for sale and their prices vary from 80 thousand rubles to 150 thousand Russian rubles. The cost for this snowmobile is quite low, since in terms of functionality and performance it can compete strongly with newer imported models of snowmobiles.
The lineup
The line of vehicles produced in 2015-2017 includes 5 all-terrain vehicles with an engine capacity of 500 and 650 cc. see. All ATVs in the series were created on the basis of the PM 500 model, released in 2014. The developers took into account the shortcomings of the predecessor and eliminated them.
The updated series consists of:
- Models RM 500 2. This is an analogue of the RM ATV. The models are almost identical, with the exception of dimensions and engine capacity. The device is equipped with a 493 cc engine and a gas tank with a capacity of 24 liters. The cost of the model is 349 thousand rubles.
- All-terrain vehicle RM 500 6x4. A special platform with two wheels was added to the all-wheel drive vehicle. If necessary, the trailer can be detached. This all-terrain vehicle is ideal for working in the field, transporting bulk cargo, etc. The load capacity of the machine is 590 kg.
- Russian Mechanics RM 650. An ATV with a short wheelbase can be used for recreational riding, cargo transportation and tourism. The single-seater car has good dynamics and high cross-country ability. Under the hood of the model hides 42.5 liters. With.
- RM 650 2. This is an improved 650 model, featuring a longer wheelbase, two-seater seat and high speed. The developers have increased the vehicle's comfort, dynamics and cross-country ability.
- ATV RM 650 2 6×4. A six-wheeled all-terrain vehicle created by is ideal for working in the field, transporting heavy loads and performing other agricultural tasks. In fact, the developers simply added a special removable platform to the PM 650 2 model, which acts as a trailer. Despite the increased power, the ATV can tow a load weighing 450 kg. Its version with a 500 cc engine is capable of carrying up to 590 kg.
Russian Mechanics RM 650 2 will be an ideal solution for rest and work. Thanks to its high power and good equipment, the machine can be used both off-road and on public roads.
Snowmobile price
Due to the cessation of mass production of the Lynx 500 snowmobile, finding it in a completely new technical condition is quite a difficult task (the model is not for sale on the official website). If you are lucky enough to find a car in the warehouse of some store, you will have to pay 185,000-210,000 rubles for it.
It is much easier and more economical to get used snowmobiles. The cost for them varies from 80,000 to 150,000 rubles (depending on mileage). As a rule, even Lynxes that have been used for a couple of seasons still serve well, as they retain their excellent driving and cargo qualities for several decades.

I have wanted to buy a pump-action shotgun “Lynx” for a long time.
I liked it both externally and constructively. Its unusual performance characteristics were also captivating. Mixed reviews on the Internet and in print publications only fueled the desire to become the owner of this unusual shotgun. This
was not easy to do - the production of Lynx rifles ceased in 2007. Not many of them have been collected, and there are now more people wanting to buy a copy in good condition than there are “cats” being sold. This is the rarest case in our arms market when demand exceeds supply.
So what
Is there something special about “Lynx”? How is it different from other pump-action shotguns and what can it do? This article is about the practical use of the RMO-93 shotgun.
The second part of the article is here
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
“Lynxes”
are different
In the public domain
there is a lot of information on the Lynx gun, which is extremely contradictory. This always happens when compilations for articles about weapons are made by people who have not even held them in their hands.
I read
a large volume of this mixture, after which I contacted TsKIB, and also consulted with well-informed specialists. I note that even this is not a guarantee of 100% reliability - largely due to the specifics of the work of the KBP and TsKIB.
Contrary to myths, reloading the Lynx is easier
than classic pump-action shotguns
On the Internet
There is a picture floating around depicting 5 versions of “Lynx”. These are two modifications with a folding metal butt, plastic forend and different barrel lengths (“K” and “F”) and three versions with a wooden non-folding butt and a wooden forend (“O”, “L” and “U”), barrels also different lengths.
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
The most
light and compact - this is the Lynx-K model, with a folding stock and a short barrel. "Lynx-F" has a long barrel and the ability to fire with a folded butt. The hunting version is the Lynx-O, which features a classic wooden stock and a long barrel.
Another option
with a hunting stock - this is the “L” version, but this gun already has a short barrel. The “U” modification combines a Dragunov-style orthopedic stock and a short barrel.
Shotgun "Lynx-U",
general view
Initially
The “Lynx” gun was called “Small combat gun” (RMB-93) and was intended to arm law enforcement officers. But the gun was not put into service. Therefore, the manufacturer made a logical and correct decision - to enter the civilian market.
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
As
3 models of “Lynx” were mass-produced for hunting rifles: “K” (RM-96), “F” (RMF-93) and “U” (RMO-93-2). The remaining two models existed only in experimental and exhibition samples, perhaps in rare cases they were produced to order.
Can
It’s safe to say that guns were sold in piece versions, incl. - with two trunks of different lengths. Contrary to popular legends, the Lynx gun was not produced with a trigger that would allow the hammer to be cocked by moving the fore-end.
The rifle "Lynx-U"
is disassembled for transportation
Shotgun "Lynx"
was developed under the leadership of designer V.P. Gryazev and was initially produced by JSC Instrument Design Bureau (KBP). This organization could not sell its products on the civilian market, so the sale of guns was carried out by a branch of the KBP - the legendary TsKIB.
Promotion
The Bureau's specialists began working on the Lynx project in 1998. Active sales began in 1999, and in 2000 more than two thousand copies of Lynx shotguns of all three modifications were sold.
The rifle "Lynx-U" disassembled.
The spring and magazine pusher have not been removed.
These guns are
They bought everything - from private security companies and hunters to “post-gunmen” and truck drivers. In many sources you can find information that “Lynxes” were allegedly not popular, which was the reason for the curtailment of their production in 2007.
This is wrong.
The reason for the cessation of production was the growing unprofitability, plus the KBP was instructed by the state to deal with more serious matters. In 2007, the last batch of 100 Lynx guns was assembled, which was sold by dealers at a price of 30-35 thousand rubles. They no longer took guns so willingly - for that time it was a lot of money.
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
For the entire period
production, the busiest demand was for the Lynx-F model, and it was assembled in appropriate volumes. Next in terms of the number of copies produced was the “Lynx-K”, but the least number of guns were made in the “U” version. In just 8-9 years of production, about 5 thousand Lynx guns were produced and sold. Even for the Russian market this is a drop in the ocean.
For comparison
- once upon a time, over approximately the same time period, more than half a million (503,402 pieces) of Izh-17 model guns were assembled. The well-known Izh-54 gun was replicated in the amount of almost 478 thousand units in 15 years, and more than 20 thousand of the now rare Izh-57 were collected in a year. Almost 312 thousand of the famous Izh-12 guns were produced over 12 years. Even sporting guns like the Izh-25 were assembled in thousands of units. So the technologically challenging Lynx is, by any standards, a rare gun.
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
In my opinion,
The most successful versions of the gun were the “Lynx-U” and “Lynx-K” variants. The folding “Ka” is the undoubted leader among the most compact and lightweight 12-gauge repeating shotguns. And “Ushka” is distinguished by its relative compactness and ease of use. Currently, the Lynx-U model is the rarest and most sought after. That's what I wanted to buy.
Instance
The “nultz” was found intact only in Moscow, but for a lover of rare weapons, driving to another city to get what you want is a normal occurrence. So I became the owner of a rather scarce “cat”, which I first wrote about in MR back in October 2007 (No. 127).

features of
the “Lynx”
This is a pump-action hunting shotgun
original design - the so-called “reverse” pump. The gun is reloaded by moving the fore-end along with the barrel back and forth. A unique design with a movable barrel located under the magazine made it possible to eliminate the need for a sliding bolt. This gave a noticeable gain in weight, dimensions and magazine capacity with an all-steel construction of the gun.

on the basis of the Lynx gun
Reflection of the sleeve
downwards makes it convenient to shoot from both the right and left shoulders. The self-cocking trigger makes the gun safe when there is a cartridge in the chamber. The magazine window cover and the absence of a window to reflect spent cartridges prevent dirt from getting into the gun's mechanisms.
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
I will outline the disadvantages
of the Lynx gun
your opinion on the issue of the advantages and disadvantages of “Lynx”. One of the main disadvantages is the relative inconvenience of loading a gun magazine.
For this
you need to open the spring-loaded receiver cover, which is located on top. Then you need to fill the tubular above-barrel magazine with cartridges.
Receiver cover
allowing access to the magazine
There are two options
this action. The first is a standard one, with the flange of the inserted cartridge inserted into a special groove in the wall of the magazine. The second - for advanced users - is stuffing the magazine “directly”, with partial insertion of the cartridge into the magazine and subsequent support of its bottom against the rear wall of the receiver.
Second way
requires chamfering the end of the magazine tube and grinding the upper part of the barrel coupling - so that the cartridge, when sent to the magazine, does not cling to anything with its front end.
Cartridges in the magazine and on the feed path, the receiver cover is open
After
With a little practice, the store is filled quickly and without difficulty.
You can cut off 5-10 turns of the magazine spring. This will not affect the reliability in any way (if you do not fill the inside of the gun with sand), and you will put in much less effort when filling the magazine. The next drawback
or feature of the gun is the “reverse” movement of the fore-end when reloading. Simply put, to load the gun you need to pull the fore-end not back and forth, but vice versa.
In my opinion
, all the “inconvenience” of this algorithm is contrived by theorists. I shoot equally quickly and confidently from both the classic “pump” and the “Lynx”. The brain instantly switches from one algorithm to another, no habituation is required. This is much easier than changing from a right-hand drive car to a left-hand drive vehicle.
From this position, when the fore-end is twitched,
the cartridge is forced downward, to the line of chambering
According to allegations
shooters on the Internet, the most important “jamb” of the Lynx gun design is a self-cocking trigger with a force of up to 9 kg. That’s what I thought until the moment I shot the RMO for the first time. It is possible that this is indeed a problem for some shooters, especially those who do not have experience in self-cocking shooting from a Nagant or Anix air pistol.
In fact
When firing shot or buckshot from the Lynx, the specifics of the trigger are the last thing you pay attention to. Especially when hunting or competing.
This photo
shows the principle of fixing the cartridge in the magazine tube - with a flange behind a special groove
When shooting
With a bullet, the problem of high trigger force is solved in a simple way: we select the “idle speed” all the way, after which we squeeze the trigger with a quick, confident movement. All. This algorithm allows me to place 5 Polev-3 bullets literally into one hole at a 50 m distance from the Lynx-U. But we’ll talk about this and the modification of the gun’s trigger in the second part of the article.
USM gun "Lynx"
More
The developers of the Lynx are blamed for the 70-mm chamber of the gun. Here, too, not everything is so simple. If an accidental shot or a series of shots are fired with a 76 mm cartridge, nothing bad will happen, although in the gun’s passport the maximum permitted pressure is no more than 650 MPa.
But better
Still, don’t take risks, “magnum” cartridges for “Lynx” are an extreme case. Moreover, a 70 mm cartridge is enough to solve almost any hunting problem. Modern gunpowders, a large selection of primers, wad containers and other things are now available, which allows you to independently assemble an effective 12x70 mm cartridge.
Assembled trigger for
the Lynx gun
Another point of criticism
— the “Lynx” gun lacks an aiming bar and a “dangling” rear sight. Probably, when hunting quail, having a bar would really not hurt. But, tell me, why take a military-style pump for quail hunting, which was originally sharpened for effectively firing buckshot at adversaries and knocking out door locks during an assault?
Yes and
You can hunt quail with anything, I used to shoot them with a TOZ-106 and catch them in the grass with my hands. And the supposedly “dangling rear sight” does not prevent the bullet from hitting the head target at a distance of 100 m.
Projection of the trigger
in the Lynx receiver
From theorists
There are a lot of complaints about the fact that when you twitch the forend, it moves along with the barrel, they say it’s heavy and inconvenient. Critics forget that with a conventional “pump”, rods/rods (which often break) and a steel bolt block move together with the forend, plus additional effort is required to cock the trigger. As a result, the force required when working with the Lynx’s forearm is less than that of the MP-133 or some Mossberg 500.
A set of standard Lynx muzzle devices -
a protective sleeve, a 0.5 mm choke and a 1.0 mm choke
I remembered
about another “jamb” of the “Lynx” gun voiced by the expert community - problems with reliability when shooting “smoking guns”. Yes, there are nuances here: personally, my gun does not “digest” domestic brass cartridges and some plastic cartridges when they are reused.
Wherein
“Lynx” easily reloads brass cartridges made in Brazil, as well as any plastic and folder cartridges during initial use.
It is better not to use brass cartridges in the Lynx gun.
But if you wish, you can, if you can find suitable “brass”. The photo shows Brazilian-made cartridge cases for a “Boxer” type capsule.
The reason is simple.
— when moving the cartridge down from the magazine, the sleeve flange passes through special vertical grooves. These grooves are milled on the sides of the “mirror” of the receiver and serve as guides and retaining elements of the feed path structure.
Most of
Soviet and Russian brass sleeves have a flange that is too thick, which simply does not fit into these grooves.
Brass sleeve
on the feed path
According to the same
This may cause problems with recycled plastic sleeves. In this case, in order to reload the gun normally, you have to vigorously work with the fore-end throughout the entire amplitude of its movement.
Problem
can be solved either by using only new cases (or factory cartridges) or by calibrating the case skirt as low as possible. I ordered this optional calibrator for my B-102 press, which solved the problem.
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
Many of those
Those who shot from the Lynx-K complain about the strong recoil of the gun and bruises on the cheekbone of the face. Yes, there is such a problem. It cannot be missing - the gun weighs 2.6 kg, and shoots full-fledged 12-gauge cartridges. On a hunt, when adrenaline rushes into the shooter’s blood like a fountain, no one pays attention to recoil and other nuances. But for shooting games it’s better to choose a different gun. Or “Lynx”, but in a different version.
This
was one of the reasons why I was looking for the performance of “U”. With a mass of exactly 3 kg, the Ushka has recoil at the level of the Izh-54 or even less. The barrel definitely doesn’t bounce like that – this is one of the advantages of the Lynx’s design.
The cartridge is lowered to the chambering line
when the fore-end moves forward
Objective
The disadvantage of the Lynx is the impossibility of directly chambering a cartridge before loading the magazine. If desired, this can be done, but then you need to carry out a whole series of manipulations: fold back the receiver cover, carefully move the fore-end with the barrel forward, insert the cartridge into the locking grooves, and push the fore-end with the barrel back. After which you can fill the store.
Front sight and rear sight of the Lynx shotgun
Another one
A specific feature of the Lynx is its fuse. Its ergonomics are unusual, but it copes with its duties perfectly. In principle, for a self-cocking trigger, a blocking fuse is useless. But in the Lynx it performs an important additional function - it prevents spontaneous disengagement of the barrel from the receiver.
Operation of the safety lever. Here it is on
This
can happen if you take a gun and make a sharp movement with your hand in the direction of the axis of the barrel. When moving through the forest, when the Lynx is hanging on your shoulder and it can be affected by elements of equipment or tree branches, the safety lock will also not hurt.
The safety lever works, in this photo it is off,
the gun is ready to fire
Advantages
of the Lynx gun
:
It’s also very subjective, but I’ll just state my point of view. I like everything about the Lynx shotgun, including its specific reloading algorithm - it’s like opening the receiver cover of a PKM machine gun. And inside everything is milled, brutal, steel. Weapons of the good old era, which require a large amount of metalworking operations and manual labor to manufacture.
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
"Lynx"
It is beautiful with its all-steel construction - no light alloys, no plastic (we do not take into account the forend and handles in the “K” and “F” versions). High-quality steel and wood, everything.
Bore
, chamber and trigger parts are chrome-plated. I admire the milled parts, high-quality surface treatment, unlined edges, and the reddish oxidation of the receiver and magazine.
In this position, the cartridge is securely fixed;
it cannot fall out.
Owners of the “Lynx”
It’s flattering that their guns are made of special steels, for which the legendary TsKIB weapons have always been famous. They say that the gun barrel is made of 30ХН2МФА steel.
In reference books
in mechanical engineering it is written that “high-quality structural steel chromium-nickel-molybdenum-vanadium 30ХН2МФА is used for the manufacture of shafts, solid-forged rotors, disks, gearbox parts, bolts, studs and other critical parts of turbines and compressor machines operating at elevated temperatures” (let’s add here the barrels of PKM/PKT machine guns , NSVT and automatic guns).
Briefly speaking,
this steel makes the Lynx pump-action shotgun eternal. In our era of disposable things with the so-called. “embedded resource” is great.
Spring-loaded "cartridge release"
located on the magazine
cover
I like the high quality of the gun. I am delighted with its bullet action, while I am quite satisfied with the characteristics of the shotshell using standard choke tubes (1.0 mm choke and 0.5 mm choke). Yes, yes, on the muzzle of the Lynx barrel there is a 22x1 thread (right) with a length of 10 mm, onto which, if desired, you can screw not only narrowings, but also attachments of a different design - from “paradox” to suppressors).
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
From "Lynx"
you can shoot very quickly, certainly no worse than from a classic “pump”. In terms of magazine loading speed, the Lynx may be somewhat inferior, but this issue is also determined by skill.
To a specific descent
You get used to the gun very quickly. The main thing is not to delay until the last minute; you need to operate the trigger with one quick movement of your finger. The grip of the gun and the insert are important here, but this is again a matter of training.
"Mirror" of the receiver.
The lower spring-loaded stop is clearly visible, which prevents the cartridge
Lynx receiver
— it is light, compact, it has no protruding parts, it is all “sleek” in a good sense. The gun does not have a protruding magazine, there are no windows where dirt could get in. My “Ear” can be disassembled in half in one movement and also assembled in a few seconds. Moreover, it has a 528 mm barrel, which can be extended by several cm with a choke choke.
On one's own
the assembled cartridge, even on the old-fashioned "Falcon", does not give a special flash, while we have normal shot and bullet speeds for a 12-gauge. More advanced powders will give even better results. And if the flash still interferes, you can order a flame arrester, which we will talk about in the second part of the article.
“Putting” the barrel onto the cartridge
during the reverse movement of the forend
One of the advantages of "Lynx"
— 8-place magazine, plus one more cartridge can be pre-placed in the chamber. Think for yourself - 9 rounds of 12 gauge in a 917 mm long gun! Plus 6 rounds can be placed in the bandolier on the butt.
When shooting
from the Lynx, the cartridges fall right under the shooter’s feet, without getting lost or distracting attention. This is considered an advantage, although, in my opinion, the direction of ejection of the cartridges is not important - as long as they don’t fly into your eyes.
Disassembling the gun
It is intuitive and simple, making it easier to maintain. With the exception of the trigger, the gun can be disassembled without the use of tools. Although I was able to remove the trigger simply with my fingers.
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
Conclusion to the first part
About the rifle "Lynx"
we can talk endlessly.
On Hansa there is a topic “RM-96, aka Lynx-K through the eyes of the owner
,” which began in 2004 and has already stretched to 650 pages. There are several other topics in parallel. There are groups on social networks that unite “cat” owners. There are many videos available with polarizing opinions.
People
they manage to hunt successfully and even compete with “Lynx” in practical shooting competitions in the “pump-action shotgun” class. “Lynx” can be sincerely loved or despised; no one is indifferent to it. And many people ask a rhetorical question - if “Lynx” is so good, why isn’t it released anymore?
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
Conversations
There have been discussions about resuming production of Lynx shotguns for a long time. But at the moment this is unlikely, from the point of view of TsKIB - the selling price is too high.
But this
the question is ambiguous. According to the information I have, in 2013-2014. Small new batches of “Lynxes” were released in the “F” and “K” versions. New batches were in the factory store for 23 thousand rubles, and later were sold in Klimovsk for 39 thousand rubles. Therefore, for those who want to buy this gun, there is only one option left - the secondary market.
Shotgun "Lynx-U"
On weapon forums
and on
the website gunsbroker.ru
various performances of “Lynx” appear quite often. The price tag is from 15 to 40 thousand rubles, depending on the model, the condition of the guns and the wishes of the seller. But those who wish can find the rarest modification “U” for a reasonable price.
In the second part of the article
we will talk about tuning Lynx shotguns, which cartridges are best suited for it, and what to do with the “roll-your-own” to avoid delays. We will also look at how true the information is that the Lynx is one of the best 12-gauge slug guns.
