Ignition circuit elements.

One of the most important electrical circuits in a scooter is the ignition circuit. It includes a CDI ignition module (1), an ignition coil (2), a spark plug (3).

CDI ignition module.

The CDI ignition module (1) is made in the form of a small box filled with compound. This makes it difficult to disassemble the CDI unit if it malfunctions. Although the modular design of this unit simplifies the process of replacing it.

There are 5 wires connected to the CDI module. The CDI module itself is located in the bottom of the scooter body near the battery compartment and is secured to the frame with a rubber clamp. Access to the CDI block is made difficult by the fact that it is located in the bottom part and is covered with decorative plastic, which has to be completely removed.

Ignition coil.

Ignition coil (2). The ignition coil itself is located on the right side of the scooter and is mounted on the frame. It is a kind of plastic barrel with two connectors for connection and a high-voltage wire output that goes to the spark plug.

Structurally, the ignition coil is located next to the start relay. To protect against dust, dirt and accidental short circuits, the coil is covered with a rubber cover.

Spark plug.

The ignition coil is connected to the A7TC spark plug (3) using a high-voltage wire.

The spark plug turned out to be cleverly hidden on the scooter, and it can take quite a long time to find it the first time. But if we “walk” along the high-voltage wire from the ignition coil, the wire will lead us straight to the spark plug cap.

The cap is removed from the candle with a little effort. It is fixed to the spark plug contact with an elastic metal latch.

It is worth noting that the high-voltage wire is connected to the cap without soldering. The insulated stranded wire is simply screwed onto the screw contact built into the cap. Therefore, you should not pull the wire too hard, otherwise you can pull the wire out of the cap. This can be easily fixed, but the wire will have to be shortened by 0.5 - 1 cm.

It's not so easy to get to the spark plug itself. To dismantle it, a socket wrench is required. With its help, the candle is simply unscrewed from its seat.

Starter.

Starter (8). The starter is used to start the engine. It is located in the middle part of the scooter next to the engine. It's not easy to get to.

The starting of the starter is controlled by the starting relay (10).

The start relay is located on the right side of the scooter frame. The starting relay receives a thick red wire from the positive terminal of the battery. This is how the start relay is energized.

Fuel gauge and indicator.

The fuel level sensor (14) is built into the fuel tank.

There are three wires coming from the sensor. Green is common (minus power), and the other two sensors are connected to the fuel level indicator (11), which is installed on the dashboard of the scooter.

The fuel sensor (14) and indicator (11) are one device and are powered by a constant stabilized voltage. Since these two devices are spaced apart, they are connected by a three-pin connector. The positive supply voltage is supplied to the fuel indicator and sensor via the black wire from the ignition switch.

If you open the three-pin connector coming from the fuel sensor, the fuel indicator will no longer show the fuel level in the tank. Therefore, if your fuel indicator does not work, then check the connecting connector between the sensor and the fuel indicator, and also make sure that they are receiving power.

It is also worth remembering that the supply voltage is supplied to the sensor and indicator when the ignition switch (12) is closed. According to the diagram, this is the right position.

Characteristics of Viper Storm models

The main thing that you should immediately understand is that all variations differ only in plastic:

  1. Viper Storm is the first model in this line. It can be recognized by the small double headlights at the front compared to other models in the line. That's it, the clutch is loose. The engine with its getinaks disks rotates on its own, the steel ones with the gearbox stand still.

Now about the adjustments.

The clutch is adjusted NOT ON THE HANDLE, but by changing the force of pressing the discs against each other. The free play of the cable is simply selected on the handle.

According to practical data, the average gasoline consumption of the GY6 engine is 5 liters per 100 kilometers. The engine is combined with a classic variator, which provides speed modes D, N and R. The last mode is reversible, making it possible to make a reverse turn. This significantly improves maneuverability.

Clutch operating principle

Thus, the main structural elements of the clutch include drive and driven discs, springs, and drive mechanisms. Dry single-disc or double-disc clutches have drive discs connected to the flywheel. For proper operation of the second type of clutch discs, a moped clutch basket is required, into which the discs are placed. The basket is also called a casing, which is driven by a primary transmission. In order to increase the friction of the discs, a special friction material is applied to their working parts. It often happens that high-strength plastic is used to make several disks of the same type.

The role of the crankshaft

The crankshaft transmits torque to the gearbox through the operation of the engaged clutch. This is due to the fact that in this case the clutch discs, both driving and driven, are tightly pressed to each other using springs.

If the pilot exerts force on the moped lever located on the handlebar, which disengages the clutch, then he thereby influences the drive (mechanical or hydraulic). The operation of this drive is as follows - it moves the clutch release rod or bearing, which separates the clutch discs from each other. Thus, the discs stop rubbing strongly against each other, as a result of which torque stops being transmitted from the crankshaft to the gearbox.

Most mopeds are equipped with a clutch, which is controlled manually by operating a lever located on the left handlebar. However, there are also models that are equipped with an automatic clutch. In the case of the latter, there is no lever on the steering wheel; the engine and transmission are connected and disconnected through the operation of a centrifugal machine. In such designs, the engine crankshaft speed acts as a setting parameter. It is worth noting that mopeds, as well as scooters in combination with a V-belt variator, are very often equipped with an automatic transmission.

Thus, the clutch performs an extremely important function in the operation and movement of the vehicle. It requires, like all other parts, careful care and timely adjustment and replacement. However, no matter how good the clutch care is, there still comes a time when it becomes necessary to adjust it or even change it altogether. The clutch is replaced in cases where there are very specific indications for this or when the adjustment did not help.

How to check PP with a multimeter on a moped?

The relay regulator on a Chinese scooter is checked using a multimeter with a voltmeter function. For this purpose, a simple DT-830 (or equivalent) is usually used. It is better to carry out diagnostics and measurement of output voltage with the device removed.

Verification algorithm:

  1. You need to unscrew the fairing with the central phase and find on the frame a device with 4 wires: red, green, yellow and white.
  2. Then start the scooter and check the voltage at idle: measure it between the green and red wires, setting the multimeter to the maximum value of 20 V.
  3. If the multimeter display shows a figure of 14.6-14.8 V, this is normal. For stabilizers on Chinese mopeds, this is the operating standard voltage. If at idle the multimeter shows a value of 15-16 V, this is a high voltage indicator. This indicates a malfunction of the relay regulator.
  4. Then you need to check the voltage supplied to the lighting lamps. An alternating voltage is supplied to the central low beam (high beam) lamp, so the multimeter should be switched to the alternating current measurement mode with a parameter of 20 V.
  5. Next, we measure the voltage between the green and yellow wires (green is the general electrical network of the moped). If the multimeter shows a network voltage of up to 12 V, then the electrical appliances are operating without additional load.

  • the remaining measurements have no contact and are not checked. The indicator when checking them should be zero.

In this way, regulators are tested on popular Japanese models with small engine volumes from brands such as Honda (Leard, Dio, Tact), Suzuki, Yamaha.

To begin with, I would like to present a wiring diagram for a Chinese scooter.

Since all Chinese scooters are very similar, like Siamese twins, their electrical circuits are practically no different.

The diagram was found on the Internet and is, in my opinion, one of the most successful, since it shows the color of the connecting conductors. This greatly simplifies the diagram and makes it more comfortable to read.

It is worth noting that in the electrical circuit of a scooter, just like in any electronic circuit, there is a common wire. On a scooter, the common wire is the minus (—). In the diagram, the common wire is shown in green. If you look more closely, you will notice that it is connected to all the electrical equipment of the scooter: headlight (16), turn relay (24), instrument panel backlight lamp (15), indicator lamps (20, 36, 22, 17), tachometer (18 ), fuel level sensor (14), horn (31), tail light/brake light (13), start relay (10) and other devices.

First, let's go over the main elements of the Chinese scooter circuit.

Egnition lock.

Ignition switch (12) or “Main switch”. The ignition switch is nothing more than a regular multi-position switch. Even though the ignition switch has 3 positions, the electrical circuit uses only 2.

When the key is in the first position, the red and black wires are connected. In this case, the voltage from the battery enters the electric circuit of the scooter, the scooter is ready to start. The fuel level indicator, tachometer, sound signal, turn relay, and ignition circuit are also ready for operation. They are supplied with power from the battery.

If the ignition switch malfunctions, it can be safely replaced with some kind of switch like a toggle switch. The toggle switch must be powerful enough, because the entire electrical circuit of the scooter is, in fact, switched through the ignition switch. Of course, you can do without a toggle switch if you limit yourself to short-circuiting the red and black wires, as the heroes of Hollywood action films once did

In the other two positions, the black and white wire from the CDI ignition module (1) is shorted to the housing (common wire). In this case, engine operation is blocked. In some scooter models, to block the engine, there is an engine stop button (27), which, like the ignition switch, connects the white-black and green (common, body) wire.

Generator.

The generator (4) produces alternating electric current to power all current consumers and charge the battery (6).

There are 5 wires coming from the generator. One of them is connected to a common wire (frame). The alternating voltage is removed from the white wire and supplied to the relay regulator for subsequent straightening and stabilization. The yellow wire removes voltage, which is used to power the low/high beam lamp, which is installed in the front fairing of the scooter.

The well-thought-out design and build quality make it possible to operate a motorized snowmobile at fairly low temperatures, and its light weight and modest dimensions during transport make it possible to transport it in passenger cars without the use of a trailer.

A reasonable price, stylish exterior, modular design, trouble-free engine and a number of other advantages allowed the Wells 200 modification to gain popularity among Russian consumers. Heated handles and carburetor, automatic transmission, the functions of which are assigned to a reliable variator, the presence of reverse gear and a tow bar made this version useful on the farm and a comfortable vehicle for moving on snow cover and frozen surfaces of water bodies.

The snowmobile is equipped with a gasoline four-stroke, two-valve, air-cooled engine with a power of 11 hp. The working volume of the single cylinder is 170 cm³. On the flat surface of straight sections, the snowmobile can reach a maximum speed of up to 40 km/h. The power unit is started in two ways - manual or electric starter. Pre-heating of the carburetor throttle valve facilitates trouble-free engine starting even in very severe frosts.

The automatic transmission with a V-belt variator has only three positions: Forward – Neutral – Back. A rubber caterpillar track with large lugs, 23 mm high, allows you to move a snowmobile without slipping on thick snow cover up to 50...70 cm thick. To increase comfort, it is possible to adjust the stiffness of the shock absorbers. To stop the engine in an emergency, an emergency stop system is used using an emergency safety check in the form of a cord.

The snowmobile is equipped with high-quality optics with long-range and short-range illumination modes. The fairing with windshield gives the Wels 200 a sporty look. The electronic instrument panel informs the driver about the current speed, the number of kilometers traveled, the engine oil temperature and the remaining fuel in the gas tank. Heated grips, a cigarette lighter and ample space under the seat add to the ease of use. The metal rack in the back can carry payloads, just like a sled that clips to a tow bar.

Peculiarities

The VIPER-R1 motorcycle is one of the most popular and anticipated two-wheeled transporters. The exterior of the model looks impressive and modern. The steering column of the V250-R1 is on non-adjustable clip-ons, that is, the steering is always tuned to a sporty style. The modern instrument panel will appeal to even experienced bikers. The speed indicators are visible on the left; the tachometer has found its place in the middle. The clutch discs in this video are in excellent condition and there was no point in replacing them. The whole point of this clutch slipping is a slightly incorrect design. There is no provision for adjusting the disk preload when worn. And as a result of wear of all discs by a total of 0.5 mm, the clutch begins to slip. Moreover, in addition, the Chinese skimped on the thickness of the locking ring that secures the discs. It is too thin, although the grooves may be cut too wide where this ring fits. As a result, the disks are not compressed by centrifugal weights. And even the clutch, new from the factory, slips a little. To fix this, you do not need to remove the clutch basket from the crankshaft. I tell you what needs to be done. Drain the oil and remove the side cover on the clutch side. Now we see the clutch basket. And there are four bolts with semicircular heads around the perimeter. We check their tightness. They must be tightened all the way. Now we put the kickstarter foot on the kickstarter shaft and try to turn the crankshaft. Usually, when the clutch slips, the foot does not immediately grab and falls, and only if you press sharply, then the clutch turns. So, to remove the slipping, we take and unscrew these four bolts a little at a time. First, turn each one a quarter of a turn, and check the slippage with the kickstarter foot; if it slips, then unscrew the four bolts another quarter of a turn. Usually this is enough and the clutch starts working perfectly. It turns out that we turned each bolt half a turn. Half a turn of this bolt is 0.5 mm. Now we need to find washers 0.5 mm thick, and place them under each bolt and tighten them. We completely unscrew one of the bolts and, without removing the bushing and the large washer, put a small washer 0.5 mm thick on this bolt. The diameter of this washer must be such that it fits freely into the hole on the clutch drum cover. We tighten this bolt until it stops and repeat with the other three. After this procedure, the clutch will work better than new. You can easily make the washers yourself from any tin can of suitable thickness. We punch the hole with a 10 mm bolt and nut, then cut out the washer with ordinary scissors. A cheap repair and everything will work great. After a few thousand km it will start to slip again, then add another washer again. And so on until the disks are really worn out. That is, when there are no teeth on them.
