Ducati Panigale V4 S 2022

The 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 and V4 S will receive updates in terms of aerodynamics, ergonomics, chassis and electronics. These revisions represent the biggest update to the V4 since the models debuted in 2022, and are backed by research carried out within the Ducati racing program.

Ducati Panigale V4 and V4 S 2022

Visually, the 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 is similar to its predecessor. The most obvious difference is the new shape of the aerodynamic wings: they are thinner and more compact, while still producing the same 37kg of downforce at 300km/h. The lower part of the fairing has also been slightly modified: new air ducts in it improve the performance of the cooling system, and just before the exhaust the lining has been slightly widened.

The 1103 cc 90-degree V4 Desmosedici Stradale received a new oil pump and lubrication system. The muffler outlets have been increased in diameter to improve engine flow and performance. For markets with current Euro 5 regulations, these changes resulted in an increase in power output to 215.5 hp at 13,000 rpm (up 1.5 hp from the 2022 version), while peak torque remained unchanged at 124 Nm. The American version, as always, is a little weaker - it produces 210 horsepower at 12,500 rpm and 123.7 Nm at 9,500 rpm.

The transmission was also modified, receiving more racing gear ratios. First gear is 11.6% longer (which, according to Ducati, improves engine braking and acceleration out of corners), second is 5.6% longer so that the recalibrated quickshifter works more efficiently with a longer first gear, and sixth is longer. 1.8% longer, which, combined with increased engine power, led to an increase in top speed by 5 km/h.

A new Akrapovic exhaust for the Panigale V4 has appeared in the factory accessories catalogue. The full exhaust tract also includes raised-up mufflers, and the performance increase when installing it is 12.5 hp and 7 Nm, and in addition, a reduction in the weight of the motorcycle by 5 kg is achieved.


Ducati Panigale V4 2022

The 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 will receive updated on-board electronics equipped with four riding modes. The driving modes are simply named according to the nature of the power: Full, High, Medium and Low. In Full Power mode, the engine operates unrestricted in all gears except first, while High and Medium Power modes use specially calculated fuel maps for each of the six gears. Low Power mode is for road driving, limiting peak engine power to 150 horsepower and muting throttle response to a comfortable level.

The front suspension of the Ducati Panigale V4 has not changed since 2022: it is the 43rd Showa BPF fork with a full range of adjustments, but on the V4 S the previous NIX30 fork has been replaced with an electronically controlled Ohlins NPX25/30. Developed from Ohlins racing forks, the NPX 25/30 features a new high-pressure cartridge smoothing system that Ducati says improves braking support, improved bump absorption and crisp feedback.

The rear suspension on both variants remains the same: on the V4 there is a Sachs monoshock absorber with a full range of adjustments, and on the V4 S there is an Ohlins TTX36 with an electronic control system Smart EC 2.0. To reduce rear sag during acceleration, Ducati raised the location of the swingarm axis by 4mm.

The braking system remains unchanged for 2022: both V4 variants are equipped with two Brembo Stylema M4.30 radial monoblock four-piston calipers at the front and one two-piston caliper at the rear. Both trims include Bosch EVO inclined ABS. In addition, both V4s are equipped with traction control, wheelie control, slide control, engine braking control, launch control and quickshifter.

The full-color 5-inch TFT display has a new Track EVO layout for 2022 - here the tachometer is implemented as a horizontal scale along the top edge of the screen, and the gear indicator is located in the center. Four indicators, traction control, wheelie control, slide control and engine braking, located to the right of the gear indicator, illuminate when the respective systems are activated, giving the rider more information to adjust their settings.

The electronic systems of the new Panigale V4 R include:

The degree of intervention of each of these systems in the control process depends on the selected driving mode, of which there are three on the Panigale V4 R. The settings for the DTC, DWC, DSC and EBC systems can be easily changed on the switchgear located on the left.

Anti-lock braking system Bosch Cornering ABS EVO

The Bosch ABS anti-lock braking system with cornering function continues to operate even if the motorcycle is in a sharp turn. The Bosch Cornering ABS EVO system has three levels of impact to suit the needs of any pilot.

Level 3 is recommended for driving in low grip conditions, while levels 1 and 2 are tuned to enhance braking and are suitable for riding in good grip conditions.

Selecting level 2 activates the brake stall function, which allows the driver to corner with a moderate, safe drift.

Level 1 is recommended for experienced riders, as the ABS system at this level only controls the front brake. However, the cornering function remains active and allows for sharp braking when entering and exiting corners, and also compensates for the consequences of driver errors.

Traction control system Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC) EVO

DTC EVO traction control interfaces with the IMU and continuously monitors the bike's lean angle, using this information to more accurately select the actions that need to be taken to ensure that the amount of rear wheel slip that is currently needed and tolerated is appropriate for the selected mode. DTC EVO.

At levels 1 and 2, DTC EVO enables the “spin on demand” function (controlled skidding). It allows the rider to use the throttle while leaning the motorcycle to drift further and drift through a turn while keeping the motorcycle on the front wheel.

DTC EVO controls not only the ignition and injection, but also the throttle valve, so that traction control intervention in non-critical situations is smoother and more delicate.

Ducati Slide Control (DSC)

Developed in collaboration with Ducati Corse, this new system helps control the motorcycle by controlling the torque produced by the engine depending on the drift angle. Its purpose is to improve turn exit and prevent a drift angle that would be difficult for the driver to handle.

The DSC function has two levels, and when switching from first to second, it becomes easier to control difficult-to-control sliding performance.

Like the DTC EVO traction control, the DSC slip control function regulates torque by adjusting the degree of throttle opening, as well as reducing ignition and fuel injection.

Ducati Wheelie Control EVO (DWC) EVO

The Panigale V4 R also features the latest version of Ducati Wheelie Control EVO (DWC EVO). Thanks to information from the IMU 6D, the DWC EVO more accurately registers the front wheelie, which increases control and speeds up the bike's response to rider input.

Ducati Power Launch (DPL)

This system has three operating modes and guarantees a lightning-fast and yet safe start, during which the pilot only needs to release the clutch. When starting quickly, the DPL system works with the DWC wheelie control and the DTC traction control to guarantee maximum safety at all times.

DPL can be switched to one of 3 modes, and it is turned on by pressing the corresponding button on the right control unit. Level 1 allows you to start especially effectively, and level 3 is safer and more stable.

Quickshifter up/down Ducati Quick Shift EVO (DQS) EVO

In addition to reducing gear change time, the DQS EVO with up/down function allows you to downshift without using the clutch. The EVO version fitted to the V4 R uses the bike's lean angle data to improve shift stability during cornering. When downshifting, the system works seamlessly with the slipper clutch and Engine Brake Control (EBC) to ensure timely gear engagement, even during extreme edge driving.

Engine Brake Control EVO (EBC) EVO

EBC engine braking control helps the rider improve the bike's stability during the tightest turns. The EBC EVO system, depending on the angle of inclination of the motorcycle, monitors the position of the throttle valve, the gear engaged and the deceleration of the crankshaft during aggressive braking, adjusting the degree of throttle opening and leveling the torque transmitted to the wheel.

New concept of Ducati riding modes

The driving modes represent three different riding styles with pre-set parameters. Selecting one of the modes allows you to adjust the behavior of the Panigale V4 R in accordance with the rider's riding style, type of surface and weather conditions.

Race mode is designed to unleash the full potential of the Panigale V4 R in conditions of good grip. When this mode is selected, all 221 hp become available to the pilot. and direct throttle response thanks to the Ride-by-Wire system. In Race mode, the electronics interfere minimally with the control process. For example, to improve braking performance, the ABS system is activated only on the front wheel, although the cornering function remains active.

The Sport riding mode allows less experienced riders to enjoy all the impressive qualities of the motorcycle. In this mode, all 221 hp are also available, but the throttle behavior under Ride-by-Wire control already corresponds to a sporty driving style. Slide by Brake and Cornering ABS are included to help the driver successfully attack corners.

the city driving mode (Street) when driving in conditions of poor road grip, as well as on public roads. In this mode, 221 hp is also available, but, like in Sport mode, the throttle response is smoother. Electronic control systems ensure good traction and stability for maximum safety.

Ducati Lap Timer GPS (DLT GPS)

The Panigale V4 R's dashboard features a lap timer, which is more advanced than the Panigale V4. The DLT GPS timer on the V4 R automatically detects more than just lap times - it can also record two split times and display them each time the driver passes the target point. If the next lap time is the best for the current race, the “best lap” function will notify you of this by flashing the indicator for 5 seconds. On each lap, the system tracks not only the time, but also the maximum number of revolutions per minute, the highest speed (assessed independently by GPS), split times and yaw angle.

GPS data analysis system Ducati Data Analyzer + GPS (DDA+ GPS)

The GPS data analysis system Ducati Data Analyzer + GPS (DDA+ GPS) evaluates the performance of the motorcycle and the rider, storing certain indicators. DDA + GPS is the most important metering device. It not only automatically stores and displays lap times, but also records information about throttle openings, motorcycle speed, engine speed, gear selected, engine temperature, distance traveled and traction control intervention.

Ducati Multimedia System (DMS)

The Panigale V4 R can optionally be equipped with the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS). If you download the application to your smartphone and connect the gadget to the motorcycle via Bluetooth, you can receive calls, select and listen to music tracks, and also receive text messages.
