Verdict

Bars Dakar is a reliable (by Chinese standards) and inexpensive motorcycle for beginner motorcyclists who prefer riding on rough terrain.

Bars Dakar 250 is one of the most successful light class motorcycles in terms of price-quality ratio. The reason for this ratio is more due to the price, since the quality is not the best, more on that below.

Motorcycle Avantis Dakar 250 TwinCam with PTS (2021)

Detailed description

Exclusive model!

We present to you a new model of the full-size motorcycle Avantis Dakar 250 TwinCam with a 250cc twin-shaft water-cooled engine on FastAce suspension. With PTS!

— A full-size enduro motorcycle equipped with a fairly powerful engine.

— Perfect for people over 170 cm tall who are demanding of the traction and power properties of a motorcycle.

— The motorcycle is equipped with passenger footrests and can withstand loads of up to 250 kg

— The main direction of operation of the motorcycle is light off-road, forests, fields, but without “hard enduro” elements

This is a full-fledged classmate of Avantis Enduro Pro, but is not so much closer to the sports direction as to civilian-amateur enduro.

— A metal gas tank of increased volume (10 liters) will allow long trips without refueling.

ENGINE

— The motorcycle is equipped with a very powerful and high-torque engine with two camshafts located directly above the valves. Power from the crankshaft is 26 hp. at 24 N.m. torque!

— This timing design makes it possible to eliminate unnecessary friction parts and the use of rocker arms. It also makes it possible to open the valves as quickly and high as possible.

— This engine is a licensed copy of the Honda AX-1 NX 250 engine. Serial production was placed in China directly by Honda. Therefore, this engine began to be often used not only on Honda motorcycles, but also on equipment from some Chinese manufacturers who bought a license.

— In addition to power characteristics, the engine has several more quite necessary features, including a balancer shaft and a six-speed gearbox.

— The motorcycle is equipped with an exhaust pipe with a diameter of 38 mm. made of stainless steel and an aluminum muffler of increased length, which reduces the noise level without interfering with the movement of exhaust gases and thereby avoiding a loss of power.

— The drive to the rear wheel is carried out by a 520th chain from the well-known

— The chain catcher is made of strong aluminum alloy with a plastic liner. This solution allows you to maintain the strength of the unit, while reducing the cost of servicing the drive during operation.

CHASSIS

- A full-fledged enduro chassis - tall, with long-travel, energy-intensive suspension and huge ground clearance.

— Frame made of chrome-magnesium alloy, duplex with a reinforced subframe that protects the engine from damage. The supporting part of the frame is made of rectangular pipe. This design made it possible to increase rigidity in the vertical direction and make the load-bearing part of the body lighter and stronger

- A strong, lightweight, extended aluminum swingarm paired with a fully adjustable Fastase shock absorber gives the rear suspension enormous energy capacity, excellent torsional and flexural rigidity, and a wide range of adjustments.

— The front fork, although it does not have compression and rebound speed adjustments, nevertheless copes excellently with handling unevenness. After all, this is a fork with a huge power reserve, as well as a shock absorber from the well-known company Fastase. Oil of different viscosities can be used to adjust the stiffness of shock absorbers.

— 21/18 wheels have a high-strength hub, reinforced spokes and high-strength aluminum rims.

— Tires also of size 21/18 have an enduroprotector with a fairly high and frequent checker, which allows you to overcome soft soils and mud quite confidently, but do not hum or vibrate on hard surfaces

— The wheel axles are made in tubular form with an increased diameter from high-alloy steel. This design reduces weight while increasing bending strength.

Brakes

— The brakes have perforated brake discs. The front disc is protected from stones and road obstacles by a protective cover.

— The brakes are equipped with a two-piston caliper at the front and a single-piston caliper at the rear.

— Aluminum brake pedal of the correct shape with adjustable position and free play.

Competitors

By price

Compared to equipment of the same price category, for example Stels 250 Enduro or Baltmotors Enduro 250 DD, the bike has a more reliable engine and frame, as well as a more stylish aggressive design.

By class

In terms of its characteristics, it can be put on a par (but it’s better not to do this) with cars of a higher class - Honda XR 230, Kawasaki KLX250 or Kawasaki kx250f 2014, which cost 2 times more. The Bars Dakar 250 is in no way superior to its Japanese counterparts.

Duck Schools

So. The motor was purchased and assembled. registered and has currently driven only 100 km. On the ChinaMoto forum, a lot has been written about this moto. After reading it, I concluded that it is not so bad. at least it’s worth its 93 thousand rubles (with PTS). but having received the motorcycle and assembled it, it seemed to me that the owners were somewhat overpraising it.

The taillight is fully LED. Unfortunately, turn signals are not very visible on a sunny day and you shouldn’t hope that those around you will notice them 100%. Each turn signal inside consists of 3 boards with 2 and 3 LEDs. So, specifically for my copy, one board with 3 LEDs does not work. I don’t understand a damn thing about electronics, I took the flashlight apart, hoping that the wiring had come loose, but no. I decided to replace the capacitor with an identical one, according to the principle: what if it works, it doesn’t work. Fortunately, capacitors cost 5 rubles per pair. It’s time to look for a person who understands this. but I want to ride. Therefore, for now, this is full and put until winter. By the way, it wouldn't hurt to seal it. I glued the glass with sanitary sealant. should help. does not affect disassembly in any way.

next, a cover for the pendulum under the chain. I don’t know what her scientific name is. in the photo the mileage is 100 km!! and has already faded into trash. perhaps because the motor is 14 years old, but was bought a couple of months ago, and the rubber has dried out. The chain was not overtightened and did not sag. so that they lied because of her. I'll have to farm something. unpleasant, but not fatal.

before Dak there was Motoland XR and it was also assembled out of the box. so, in comparison with Daka, it was practically assembled! It was almost completely disassembled from the box. The photo didn't survive, unfortunately. All plastic was removed except for 1 element of the rear right side. It was so dismantled that even the left passenger handle was separate, and the rear brake foot was in a heap. in principle, it’s not difficult to assemble, but it won’t work out right the first time)) anyway, you won’t see anything, you’ll forget, and you’ll take it apart and reassemble a couple more times until you bring the process to the point of automaticity, damn it)) at least that’s how it was with my friend and I. The cool thing about this moto is that in order to remove the seat you must first unscrew the rear plastic. Both sides need to be removed. then unscrew the bolts holding the seat, there are only two of them. but under the seat there is a glove compartment, just for tools; you just need to unscrew 8 bolts to get there. what bullshit. However, the glove compartment is useful for installing an alarm; there is just enough space and it fits comfortably. To remove the side plastic on the tank you need to: unscrew the rear plastic, it is advisable to remove the seat, then unscrew the side one. and by the way, the bolts that hold the side plastic also hold the muzzle. those. if you take it apart, then from beginning to end every time. in reality it’s not so scary, but the scheme is somewhat infuriating.

a tail with a wing where the rear light and number are attached. he's crooked. here's the curve and that's it. so cast. It is impossible to screw this part of the plastic straight. The flashlight always stands somewhat asymmetrically and the grooves where the ears of the rear side plastic are inserted are larger than necessary on one side and smaller on the other. I hope it's just me. the price of this thing is about 600-800 re. I’ll probably order it in winter because I want it to be normal, and not as usual.

The dirt protection of the battery compartment is completely missing. The battery is located under the rear left plastic. and is in no way protected from dirt flying from under the wheel. the gap is approximately 5-7cm. everything that flies from the back will be there. and there are no protections from the jerker either. well at least there is enough space for a collective farm. Now I’ve already managed to cover up some of it and wrapped up all the electrics to the point of being a mummy. I'll probably take a photo later. The air filter housing is also located in front of the rear wheel. can pierce with a stone, but that's unless you're very lucky. although if you strengthen or close it with something, it won’t be superfluous.

and finally, the standard Chinese shortcomings. namely the stars. First gear is needed to pull the hippopotamus and swamps. In short, you need to set the leading one to 14, the factory one to 13. There are plenty of machinations about this on the forum, no matter how perverted they are, adjusting them to their needs. Well, the chain is not sealed. We'll see how it goes. This is also all in winter, I wish I had time to ride.

Although there are a lot of minor flaws, Daka is a pleasant carriage overall. I needed a simple, lightweight, versatile bike with docks for roads and dry dirt. a rustic motik in short. I think it will be quite suitable for these purposes. although time will tell.
