Full description of the 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa, specifications and prices

It's finished! Tens of thousands of people around the world have been eagerly awaiting the return of the updated 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 3 hyperbike for several years! In 22 years, this is only 3 times when the legend is updated, and in 2022, the new Hayabusa 2022 becomes the only representative of the class, because competitors were simply discontinued due to non-compliance with Euro 5 standards.

Those who have been waiting for a turbocharged, supercharged, hybrid or any other motorcycle with 210+ hp can stop reading here and just scroll through the photos, but those who are simply glad that the iconic Hayabusa is back can continue reading while dripping drool onto the floor.

The Japanese did not reinvent the wheel and managed to maintain the recognition of the model, only slightly changing the appearance. Of course, we see a completely new tail that meets all the modern canons of aerodynamics, the cyclopean front optics are now LED, in fact, like everything else, the brakes now work and this is a combined system with 320 mm discs and Brembo Stylema calipers, a lot of electronics will now allow you to ride on it even a schoolchild, but the frame and engine remained almost unchanged.

Moreover, the engine is not only from the previous generation, it also lost a little power and torque at the peak, but gained a little more “meat” exactly where it was needed - at the bottom and in the middle range.

“We believe that maximum power and torque alone do not determine the performance of a Hayabusa,” says engine designer Naoki Mizoguchi.

The decision to leave the old 1340 cc engine was not made based on laziness or lack of resources, the Japanese approached this issue with full responsibility, and on the way to this decision, both a turbocharged version of the Gen 2 inline four and an inline six were developed, but none of them These engines were not more balanced or reliable than the Gen 2 engine.

“There was an option to build the 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa from scratch with a new engine,” says Naoki Mizoguchi, Suzuki designer. “We made prototypes with larger displacements, turbochargers and different numbers of cylinders. But when we compared the prototypes to the second-generation model, we found that its engine delivered better performance across multiple modes than either prototype.

“In testing, the turbocharged engine's power characteristics were so harsh that it was only good on long straights and ideal roads. That's why we decided to use the Gen 2 motor as the basis for increased power and torque in the low-to-mid range. Balance is the key to success.”

In modern times this is a very strange statement, but these are the Japanese and it looks like they made a MOTORCYCLE, and not a marketing product full of headlines about unimaginable power. This is great!

In addition, Suzuki decided not to use the GSX-R1000's variable valve timing (VVT) to improve reliability and ease of maintenance. Engineers say that the new Bus is faster than the previous one even without VVT, and the absence of this mechanism will also affect the cost for the better.

“If I had to do a drag race, I wouldn't hesitate to choose the new Hayabusa,” says engine test engineer Shunya Togo.

“We made customers wait a very long time – but we are confident that the new Hayabusa 2022 will meet all their expectations,” says chief engineer Fumihiro Onishi.

Suzuki didn't go crazy with the suspension either. No semi-active or electronic systems. Just a good old KYB fork, with a full range of adjustments and the same monoshock absorber. The suspension is designed for use in the mixed cycle, and not on highways, which will add both comfort and clear feedback, especially on Russian roads.

Why is it so simple? The answer is obvious: It’s not difficult to make an excellent new motorcycle with top-end components for 50,000 Euros, which only a few will buy, but for 18,500 – that’s another question...

In terms of electronics, everything is standard by modern standards: the Bosch IMU unit in Suzuki’s interpretation is SDMS. Assistants include 10-level traction control, corner ABS system, multi-level launch control, engine braking, cruise control, multi-level wheelie control, hill assist system, rear wheel lift control system, etc.

All this is controlled through a small TFT display located in the middle of the iconic analog instrument panel, the design of which has been retained but rethought so that all Hayabusa connoisseurs should be pleased.

The bottom line is that the Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 3 2022 is a real hyperbike that has been awaited for a long time, which was able to maintain recognition, satisfy all fans of modern electronics and safety systems, who chose between marketing and the client, while remaining affordable, which will definitely remain in history and which I really want to ride!

Suzuki

After a short break, the Suzuki Hayabusa is back.
We all hoped for a new generation, but in essence we are dealing with a significant update and improvement of the 2nd generation, although in fact there are a lot of changes. Hayabusa is, first and foremost, a motor. The main improvement is that the new bike accelerates better despite the less power. To pass the Euro5 standard, Suzuki's engineers had to do a lot: reduce peak power and improve low- to mid-range performance. The second generation engine wins in power and torque at high speeds and loses at low/medium speeds.

The 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa is faster by 1/8 mile (6.8 seconds) as it has better acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of 3.2 seconds. At the same time, fans of dyno testing will be disappointed, as the motorcycle produces only 188 hp. at 9700 rpm, and peak torque decreased by 5.5 Nm at 7000 rpm. At the same time, the maximum speed is limited to 299 km/h.

Externally, the engine has not changed at all, but almost all internal parts have been modernized. New cams have reduced valve travel, only the exhaust valve has more lift. New valve springs are stiffer to compensate for the changes. New, reshaped pistons are 26 grams lighter. Piston studs are shorter and lighter. As before, stamped pistons with PVD coating are used. The combustion chamber was also modernized. The connecting rods have become stronger and lighter by 3 grams. A new timing chain tensioner was installed to reduce friction. The rollers on needle bearings on the right and left supports are 2 mm longer. The new 13mm wide bearings should last longer, increasing reliability.

The new quickshifter forced some changes to the gear shift mechanism. The width of the gears has been changed for a better shifting feel. The clutch now has an assist and slip function. Clutch pushrod new length.

The new exhaust system has a 4-2-1-2 design. The system is approximately 2 kg lighter. Next, we can note an important element of the power system - electronic throttle control. Suzuki engineers also redesigned the intake pipes to increase boost air pressure.

The intake length is now almost 12 mm longer. The throttle body has increased by 1 mm to 44 mm. The new Hayabusa motorcycle has a dual-injector design.

An important improvement is the six-axis IMU system, which controls the motorcycle modes (Active, Basic, Comfort), electronic fuel injection, traction control (10 levels plus OFF), wheelie control (10 levels plus OFF), engine braking system (3 levels plus OFF), lunch control (3 levels), speed limiter and quickshifter response (2 levels). The electronics package also includes RPM Assist, Hill Hold Control System and cruise control.

Other changes:

  • Brembo Stylema calipers on 320 mm discs
  • Latest generation corner ABS system
  • linked braking system
  • Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tires
  • frame unchanged
  • new pendulum 0.5 kg lighter
  • new KYB fork
  • new KYB shock absorber
  • new handlebar (installed approximately 12 mm closer to the rider, with rubber bands to reduce vibrations)
  • new tidy
  • new body kit
  • LED optics
  • new colors

Full description of the 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa, specifications and prices

2022 Suzuki Hayabusa

2022 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa There is no doubt that the Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa is a modern motorcycle legend that I have a particular affection for.
From winding a first generation Hayabusa at 200mph on the speedo in Western Australia to sticking Bridgestone stripes on a second generation Victorian High Country, I have many memorable Hayabusa experiences. 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa

I can't wait to do even more on this new third-generation Hayabusa when it arrives in Australia mid this year, where it will cost $27,690 Ride Away. The white color scheme seen on some sites will not be rolling out to Australia.

The third generation Hayabusa is priced at $27,690 to drive.

True horsepower fans may be disappointed that there are no new incredible numbers to show off. This engine update was more about the performance of its predecessors, which are now over 20 years old, while significantly updating the engine to meet Euro 5 emissions standards and improve durability.

Borrowing technology from the GSX-R1000, changes to the crankshaft oil passages provide a more efficient flow of oil to the connecting rods. This allows for a 54% improvement in flow and crank pressure without any changes to the oil pump, with the overall result being improved engine lubrication.

I know from experience that many high performance engines equipped with new cylinder heads that boast the latest generation combustion chamber design coupled with more sophisticated electronic control systems tend to be much better than their predecessors, as you would hope and expect!

Hayabusa power/torque comparison by generation

Suzuki says peak power and torque are slightly less than the second-generation Hayabusa. However, I don't see too many people complaining when they see that big boost in mid-range torque, which results in Suzuki claiming a quicker 0-200 time of 6.8 seconds than its immediate predecessor, which takes a tenth more time. A new two-way speed selector could help in this regard...

Comparison of torque spread

187 horsepower for the new motorcycle versus 194 horsepower for the second generation and 173 horsepower for the original. Torque drops from 5 to 150 Nm at a slightly lower 7000 rpm. Curb weight is down 2kg to 264kg, ready to ride with a full 20-litre tank and one liter less fuel than before.

2022 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa
I love that the look isn't too radically different from the original, and even more so that the Hayabusa still boasts a regular watch. There's nothing quite like watching the speedometer needle spin relentlessly as the tachometer rises and falls with every gear change. The fuel and temperature gauges also retain their analogue look, love it!

I love a somewhat old school watch, there is nothing better than watching the speedometer needle spin the watch at a ridiculous rate of knots.

The instrument panel has some modern tweaks, but with a small LCD display located between the large speedometer and tachometer that displays ride mode, traction control map, lean angles achieved, as well as clock and ambient temperature. The bright indicator light located above this LCD is much more of a gimmick than some dull, sticky bar graph LCD. Cruise control is also a welcome addition, although it can only be used up to 200 km/h….

2022 Suzuki Hayabusa

I'm not sure about the color schemes... I'm glad the graphics aren't too wild, but I would have preferred the color schemes to be even simpler. The contrasting color belts are something I could do without, and the same goes for the color treatment that runs under the seat and on the rear hood. However, the overall profile looks much more modern than the previous model and can surprise in the flesh. I hope so.

2022 Suzuki Hayabusa

In keeping with the original, the styling was somewhat dictated by aerodynamics for both low drag and high-speed stability. Ergonomics have been changed: the steering wheel is now located 12 mm closer to the driver.

Cabin

The KYB suspension at both ends has new settings, while premium four-piston Brembo Stylema calipers and 320mm discs promise improved braking performance. The latest Bosch ABS system also links the brakes.

Can't wait to ride the big girl!

2021 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa Specifications 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa

Updated Suzuki Hayabusa 2022

Suzuki is different from everyone else in the motorcycle industry. For a manufacturer, time flows too slowly, conservative developments can be used in factories for years, and the release of new models is a rare occurrence. In addition, the company releases new models, but in reality they are well-redesigned old models. This is precisely the fate of the third generation of the Suzuki Hayabusa hyperbike.

Such motorcycles are quite heavy, but they have a comfortable fit and can expertly cover hundreds of kilometers.

The Suzuki Hayabusa has many of the aerodynamic features that are associated with sportbikes. However, the company's project is included in the list of hyperbikes. Such motorcycles are quite heavy, but they have a comfortable fit and can expertly cover hundreds of kilometers. Their environment is unlimited tracks that can unleash the full potential of the models.

Let us recall that back in 2022, information appeared that Suzuki would cease production of the Hayabusa bike. And now, after a short break, the fate of the model became known. When the manufacturer announced that it was returning the model to the market, many fans hoped that it would be a completely new generation. But in reality it turned out to be the same hyperbike with minor modifications.

Hayabusa is, first and foremost, an engine. The main improvement is that the bike accelerates faster. And this despite the lower power of the power unit. To pass standard Euro 5, the company's engineers had to work hard. The first step was to reduce the peak power, and then improve the characteristics to mid-range speeds. The second generation motor is superior in power.

If fans want to test the performance on the dyno, they will be disappointed, as maximum power is now only 188 hp.

The new Suzuki Hayabusa was faster by 6.8 seconds. The manufacturer managed to achieve acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. If fans want to test the performance on the dyno, they will be disappointed, as maximum power is now only 188 hp. Speed is limited to 299 km/h.

Externally, the power unit has not changed at all. However, all parts inside the structure have been modernized. The new cams have shortened the valve travel, and only the exhaust has a little play. The new pistons have a different shape and weigh 26 grams less. As before, the manufacturer uses stamped pistons with PVD coating. The combustion chamber has also been modernized. The connecting rods are now more durable.

The quickshifter made it possible to make changes to the gear shift mechanism. The width of the gears was changed in order to better feel the shifts. The clutch pusher has a new length. The exhaust system received a 4-2-1-2 design. As a result, the system is almost 2 kg lighter. There is another important element in the power system - electronic throttle control.

The company calls an important improvement the IMU system, which can control the motorcycle's riding modes, fuel injection, wheelie control, engine braking system and speed limiter. The electronics package also includes RPM Assist and Hill Hold Control System.

Other changes include Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 rubber, KYB forks, KYB shock, handlebars, instrument panel and the latest generation corner ABS system.

Bottom line . Suzuki presented an updated version of the Hayabusa hyperbike. Despite the fact that the motorcycle has remained virtually unchanged in appearance, many updates have been made to its design.
