Snowmobile "Rybinka": technical characteristics

Rybinka 4 is a universal snowmobile for professional fishermen and hunters, in demand throughout the post-Soviet space. This relatively modern model will satisfy the needs of the most demanding users, for whom, when purchasing, the most important things are carrying capacity, maintainability and reliability. The model in question is capable of reaching its destination through huge deep snowdrifts and covering long distances, being many kilometers away from civilization. Rybinka 4 is a relatively compact car that costs little money, and at the same time is a universal transport. Before us is a so-called mini-snowmobile, created at an enterprise in the city of Rybinsk. The machine is presented in the form of a small-sized “transformer” that can be placed in the trunk of a car without much effort, and its assembly and disassembly takes a matter of minutes. In addition, this procedure does not require the use of professional tools - it is enough to use the basic set included in the package. Based on this, we can conclude that Rybinka 4 is a worthy offer for lovers of winter fishing and hunting.

It must be admitted that compared to its competitors, Rybinka 4 has rather modest technical characteristics. Despite this, the machine is considered a full-fledged snowmobile with excellent ergonomics of the driver's workplace. When driving this snowmobile, the driver does not stand or lie down, but rather sits with sufficient comfort for this price category. The seating is comfortable and spacious, it will accommodate a person of any height and build. If necessary, the seat can be adjusted in height. There are no conventional instrumentation, since the main goal of the developers was to reduce the cost of the design as much as possible and make the machine accessible to the mass consumer and to novice users. Therefore, you should not be surprised if the driver notices that this car does not even have a fuel gauge. There is also no windshield, which is not provided as an option. However, the developers still installed a halogen headlight in front, which is located quite high and provides good illumination in any bad weather.

The snowmobile of the same name weighs more than 100 kilograms, is equipped with one track and two skis. The chassis is of the roller type. The dimensions of the track are quite impressive for this class - the length is 2070 mm, and the width and height of the lug are 280 and 25 mm, respectively. Thanks to these parameters, it was possible to provide good ride quality, comparable to more expensive snowmobiles from the next price category. In the front part there are two skis mounted on “telescopes”. The power plant is located in the rear, and is rigidly fixed to the “stern”.

The Rybinka 4 snowmobile has optimal useful properties in terms of load capacity. The machine is capable of transporting up to 150 kg of cargo. In addition, the maximum speed of the Rybinka 4 snowmobile is 20 km/h. In addition to electric start, the device is equipped with wind protection and a heated steering wheel. These basic options will come in handy in harsh climates. As practice has shown, the car performs excellently on loose snow, as well as on an icy road or simple ground. Such good driving characteristics were achieved thanks to the track roller suspension, which can withstand heavy loads without any serious damage. The car will have a more difficult time in deep snow, but its chassis can cope with such obstacles.

Mini snowmobile “Rybinka”: toy or assistant?

- Help me, I need to unload the trunk... - What do you have there?
— Snowmobile. More precisely, the snowmobile is “Rybinka”... When talking about this vehicle, it is difficult not to use diminutive forms such as “snowmobile”, so the creators chose the right name. And the concept too: “Rybinka” differs from other snowmobiles in its “pocket” format - if desired, it can fit into the trunk of a passenger station wagon.

Everything has its pros and cons. A variety of snowmobiles, from utilitarian to turbocharged sports, allows you to choose a model to suit your taste and budget. But since not everyone lives on farms and in remote villages, along with the purchase of the desired equipment, the need arises to organize “infrastructure”. To transport and sometimes store a snowmobile, you will need a trailer, possibly a closed one, and most likely a category “B+E” for it. The trailer also needs a technical inspection, you need to pay a toll, monitor its condition, etc. In general, every trip from the city or suburb “to the forests” turns into an expedition. And all this for the sake of sometimes getting to your favorite fishing/hunting spot or just taking a ride through the forest? A mini-snowmobile of a “pocket” format like “Rybinka” deprives you of all these problems.

Firstly, according to the Russian classification, this is a means of small-scale mechanization; it does not need to be registered. What will happen to us is not yet clear, since certain changes to laws and traffic rules are being prepared. There is hope that this “gap” will remain, since the Rybinka is not classified as a snowmobile.

Secondly, it is very compact and relatively light (110 kg of dry weight), which allows you to “drive” into the trunk of an SUV, crossover, minivan and even a passenger station wagon.

And thirdly, “Rybinka” is a transformer, and if it does not fit in the trunk of your car entirely, it can be disassembled into 8 elements: engine with sub-motor frame, electric starter, steering wheel with column, skis with tie rods and hood, running boards, casing chains, side frame and propulsion (suspension with track). The largest element weighs 40 kg, which allows even the weakest man to handle the process of loading and unloading into the trunk alone. The assembly or disassembly process, as the creators assure, takes about 10 minutes.

According to its characteristics, “Rybinka” exactly corresponds to the definition of “means of small-scale mechanization”. It is equipped with a 1-cylinder 208 cc Kohler gasoline engine with a power of 7 hp, transmitting torque to the track via a centrifugal clutch. By the way, until this year, “Rybinka” was produced in a different specification - with a Subaru engine and a CVT. For some reason, the designers of Russian Mechanics decided to abandon them. Probably for the sake of cost, because the Rybinka costs like a Chinese scooter - 2800 BYN. rubles What do we get for this money?

Outwardly, “Rybinka” looks cute, even touching. Prefabricated structural elements are attached to each other securely, without backlash. But the build quality of individual “communications” is slightly disappointing: protruding connectors, carelessly fastened wires, gas and brake lever cables jammed into a common “pack”... Perhaps you can’t do anything else on a transforming snowmobile, but it doesn’t look so great.

Let's start the engine. This is done easily, literally in one jerk. Why jerk? Because there is no other way: although the electric starter is included in the standard equipment, the battery is an option. Like, if you want, you can buy more. In the meantime, the old fashioned way, “with a shoelace.” Fortunately, the American engine starts easily, after a couple of minutes of warming up, you’re good to go!

Feels funny! “Rybinka” starts briskly, but on compacted snow it quickly reaches the “maximum speed”, which is about 20 km/h. By the way, there is no tachometer or speedometer here either, so you just drive with full throttle if the surface allows. And while there is compacted snow or powder under the skis and track, you don’t have to let go of the gas - “Rybinka” stably holds a straight line, responds well to weight shifts in turns and goes well on loose snow up to 30 cm thick.

Article on the topic: Haval n2 owner reviews 2016

We complicate the task - we descend into the quarry through the pitted and frozen snow. And immediately the difficulties begin. "Rybinka" willingly attacks the transverse track, but becomes very demanding if you drive it along or diagonally. The track width on the skis is 800 mm, and this is not enough, because when the Rybinka track hits a snow hole, it immediately begins to heel frighteningly, hanging the skis in the air. Plus, the pilot’s legs on the side steps are spaced quite narrowly, so there is no clear point of support to effectively “hang out.”

“You can put your feet on the ends of the ski shock absorbers, this makes it easier to move the weight,” advises the dealer representative. Indeed, this is more convenient, but this is clearly not provided for by the factory - there are only footrests on the sides. Yes, and such a landing is suitable only for tall people, but for me it turned out to be generally “chopper-dragster” - I sit at an angle, my legs are high and far in front. This way, of course, it’s more convenient to move the weight, the fulcrum is more obvious, but in the event of a rollover, it’s not a fact that you’ll have time to put your foot out. Although, as soon as the snow pockmarks are replaced by ordinary, smooth snow, the problem of stability ceases to be so relevant - the mini-snowmobile goes well on the “plains”.

The same goes for hills: as long as you attack obstacles correctly, “head-on”, everything works out - “Rybinka” has enough power and grip to storm snowdrifts and climbs. And if it’s not enough and at some point it stops, you just need to stand up slightly and the snowmobile will move on. With a CVT, experts say, cross-country ability would be a little better, since it allows the engine to be in the optimal zone at a larger speed range, but the grip on relatively simple surfaces is also good. The only pity is that it was not possible to test the Rybinka in more severe conditions - after half an hour the throttle cable jumped out of the connector, and without a tool it was impossible to put it back. What's the point of driving at idle speed?

The results of our blitz test are as follows: as a format for a “pocket” transformable snowmobile, “Rybinka” is a very interesting proposal. Firstly, it is very inexpensive, and secondly, the possibility of transportation in the trunk (even with disassembly and assembly) allows you to eliminate most logistics problems. Another question is that you shouldn’t expect any special “drive” from such a mini-snowmobile - it drives itself, and that’s fine. But if this is exactly what you need - leisurely walks through the forest or a hunting/fishing trip in the virgin snow - you might want to take a closer look at Rybinka. In operation without extreme and extreme off-road conditions, this is really more of a helper than a toy. True, it is single-seater, but it can pull a sled weighing up to 150 kg (design load), and this is quite enough for small “expeditions”. The main thing is that the throttle cable does not jump off anymore...

  • Daniil, Lipetsk. I first had the chance to meet Rybinka in 2014, when my friend invited me to go fishing. He just bought himself this snowmobile. I even steered them a little then. I’ll be honest, at first Rybinka 4 seemed like a toy to me, given its modest size. Moreover, with its modest dimensions and weight, this snowmobile carries a 120-kilogram grandpa. And he drives it quite willingly. A high-torque engine, decent dynamics and high efficiency, maneuverability - these advantages were enough for me to set the goal of purchasing this device. The machine can be easily disassembled in 10 minutes and fits into the trunk of a car. The device is able to move on snow and ice, and at the same time it does not skid - however, if you do not overdo it with speed. By the way, the maximum speed is around 50 km/h, but at this speed it is advisable to drive only on a straight road.
  • Dmitry, Irkutsk. I'm a big fan of winter fishing, and I did without a snowmobile for a long time until my son bought me this miracle. The Rybinka 4 mini snowmobile, despite the funny name, looks and drives quite like an adult. This car is only for one person - the driver, and besides, it will be cramped for him. But Rybinka copes with its task successfully - it accelerates vigorously and brakes effectively. The device can be repaired without any problems - for this you only need two wrenches and 15 minutes of time, to put it mildly - depending on what kind of malfunction it is. Still, you need to take the tool with you, because the snowmobile suffers from factory problems, but it is easy to maintain. The car is perfect for driving on a frozen river.
  • Anatoly, Ryazan. Rybinka 4 has been in my possession for two years now. Before purchasing, I couldn’t decide because I couldn’t find any reviews about this car. And yet, I decided to take a risk, since I still didn’t have the money for something more impressive and technologically advanced. Rybinka 4 cost me 70 thousand rubles. The snowmobile is quite peppy, but very noisy. It is easy to assemble and disassemble, like a construction set. On an ice road, the vehicle rides as if on rails - directional stability is excellent thanks to the tracks with tracks. The obvious drawback is the engine, which needs time to warm up, and only then can it start moving. Still, the heating system is rather weak for this single-cylinder engine. There are no problems with maintenance, but if you suddenly have to repair the transmission, you will need to completely disassemble the car.

Snowmobile Rybinka

The Rybinka snowmobile with one seat will become a reliable assistant for both winter fishing enthusiasts and rural residents. Structurally, it is a small-sized collapsible vehicle on 2 skis and a caterpillar track. It has proven itself to be excellent when working in weather conditions from -25 C to +5 C. Budget cost (about 87 thousand rubles), the presence of a coupling device for towing a trailer weighing up to 150 kg, the ability to assemble in 5-7 minutes, numerous positive reviews owners - all these are arguments in favor of purchasing this mini-snowmobile (RM).

IMPORTANT! You do not need a driver's license to operate a small-scale mechanization vehicle.

Characteristics

The Rybinka 2 snowmobile weighs 110 kg, has 1 caterpillar and 2 skis in its design, and is equipped with a single-cylinder 4-stroke engine manufactured by KOHLER (USA), the power of which is 7 hp. With. This snowmobile has one seat. In addition, it is equipped with a hitch that makes it possible to tow a trailer weighing up to 150 kg, which makes it even more attractive.

The track has a roller suspension, but thanks to the dimensions of the track, which has a length of 2070 mm, a width of 280 mm, and a lug height of 25 mm, fairly good driving characteristics are ensured. In front there is a pair of skis on “telescopes”. The engine is located at the stern.

The snowmobile's carrying capacity is 150 kg. The maximum speed that Rybinka 2 can reach is 18–20 km/h. The device has an electric engine start, wind protection, and a heated steering wheel. The Rybinka 2 snowmobile moves perfectly on loose snow, off-road, and, if necessary, even on ice or simple soil - the track's roller suspension can withstand such tests. However, the snowmobile will still have to be helped in deep snow. Despite this, it fully copes with its responsibilities and will quickly and comfortably take you to a fishing spot tens of kilometers away.

Self-assembly and maintenance

When disassembled, the snowmobile takes up very little space, which makes it convenient for storage. In addition, the assembly process before operation is very simple; it can be handled without special skills.

  1. Place the kingpin into the ski. Having previously installed the bracket between the ski and the kingpin, place an M8x85 bolt in the through hole. Tighten the nuts.
  2. Fix the steering rods in the ball joints.
  3. Install the guard and footrests on the tracked mover, secure them with bolts. Connect them to the traverse using quick-release pins and axles.
  4. Place the steering wheel on the steering column and secure with bolts.
  5. Install the hood on the bumper, secure with M6x16 screws, M6 nuts and washers 6.
  6. Place the hood on the crossbar with the bumper and secure with bolts (bottom) and quick-release cotter pins (top).
  7. Install the seat with the frame on the mover and secure it.

In order for the Rybinka snowmobile to remain in good condition for as long as possible, as well as to eliminate causes that may lead to premature wear of parts, maintenance requirements must be followed. There are several types of maintenance:

  • Daily: carried out before departure, as well as after finishing using the snowmobile.
  • After break-in: carried out after 5 hours of operation.
  • Periodic: every 25 hours of operation, every 50 hours of operation, seasonal, for commissioning after storage.

You will find more detailed information in the instruction manual. During the use of equipment, various problems occur, for example, defects in the tracks, the need to remake a homemade chain tensioner, etc. If you have any questions about maintenance, servicing the variator, purchasing spare parts for the exhaust or cooling system, tuning or repairs, contact your dealer or a specialized service.

We also recommend looking for advice from owners on thematic forums. There you can find a lot of useful information on how to remake or improve the model. For example, on Rybinka 2 new it is recommended to install a two-speed gearbox with an automatic clutch. There you can also find out how the brake is installed, etc.

Mini snowmobile "Rybinka-4"

In 2013, another representative appeared in the family of snowmobiles produced by Russian Mechanics - the Rybinka minisnowmobile. This is not a children's device, but a completely adult and serious snowmobile that has proven itself to be an excellent assistant primarily for fishermen and hunters. One might say, the “Humpbacked Horse” of the snowmobile world. That's why it received such an affectionate name.

Description

This device is also called a motorized towing vehicle or a transformer.

A motorized towing vehicle - because it can tow a trailer weighing up to 150 kg, with its own weight of 110 kg.

Transformer - because it can be disassembled into eight separate parts:

  • motor with motor frame;
  • steering column;
  • electric starter;
  • two skis with steering linkage;
  • footrest;
  • track suspension;
  • side frame;
  • circuit protection.

Each part weighs no more than 40 kg. It is easy to disassemble and transport in the trunk of a car to the place where the off-road begins. Collect within 5-8 minutes and then move off-road to the fishing spot.

Another advantage would be the use of a four-stroke gasoline engine. American single-cylinder Kohler units with a capacity of 7 horsepower. They work perfectly at sub-zero temperatures down to -35 o C. Air-cooled, started using an electric starter. Can be started using a manual starter.

The transmission is a variator with a chain drive and an automatic centrifugal clutch. Fuel supply is carburetor. Contactless ignition. To facilitate maintenance outside the garage, plastic covers can be easily removed to provide access to all units and components. The metal frame is coated using modern powder technology. This is effective protection against corrosion.

Reliable suspension – telescopic for two skis in front. Balancer-roller for the engine and skis at the rear.

The track is 38 centimeters wide and has an increased support area allowing it to move through snowy, moderate off-road conditions. On bare ice or compacted snow, a snowmobile can travel for a long time at speeds of up to 45 kilometers per hour.

An ergonomic seat has been designed for ease of movement. The driver can operate the device while sitting, standing, half-sitting or leaning on the seat with his knee. There is a large storage compartment under the seat. Even more things can be transported on a trailer. The mechanism is designed to transport a ski trailer or sled weighing up to 150 kg.

Another fact that speaks in favor of “Rybinka” is that the small-scale mechanization device does not require registration and obtaining permission from the management of a snowmobile or “motorized dog”.

Brief description of the Rybinka mini-snowmobile

“Rybinka” is a modular device consisting of only eight parts. Due to its simplicity, it practically does not break, for the reason that there is nothing to break there! According to the stated characteristics, it reaches speeds of up to 20 km/h and can not only transport a fisherman, but also tow a trailer weighing up to 150 kg, which, with its own weight of 110 kg, is a very serious argument!

The power of the American 4-stroke Kohler engine is enough to drive on a frozen pond, a compacted road, or snow, the thickness of which does not exceed 45-50 cm at a speed of up to 25 km/h!

Self-assembly

When disassembled, the structure takes up little space. Assembly before use is simple and intuitive. Anyone can do it, but you need to read the operating instructions carefully. In addition to assembly instructions and technical specifications, it contains advice on conducting technical inspections and observing safety precautions.

The assembly sequence is as follows:

  • remove parts from the transport container;
  • install the bracket between the ski and the king pin and secure it with an M8 x85 bolt;
  • fix the steering rods in the ball joints;
  • install the caterpillar mover and traverse on the frame;
  • install the guard and footrests on the frame with a caterpillar drive;
  • secure the seat in the frame with two clamps and a stopper;
  • secure the steering wheel in the steering column with a stopper;
  • add fuel and oil according to the instructions;
  • adjust track tension;
  • check the operation of the mechanisms.

Maintenance

Like any other unit equipped with a gasoline engine and electrical equipment, a motorized snowmobile requires timely maintenance.

The instructions for the unit state that there are several types of maintenance:

  • Daily maintenance of the EO;
  • Maintenance after running in;
  • TO-1;
  • TO-2;
  • CO.

Daily Maintenance

EO – daily maintenance. Carried out daily before use.

Includes:

  1. Check the operation of the gas lever (throttle valve drive) for smooth operation. When released, the lever should return to its original position on its own.
  2. Checking the brake mechanism. The brake should fully engage and return to place when the brake lever is released.
  3. Checking the condition of the caterpillar. An external inspection is done and the tension is checked.
  4. Checking the serviceability of the steering.
  5. The fuel and oil levels are determined.
  6. An external inspection of the casings is carried out, the tightening of the bolts, the availability of tools and spare parts are checked.
  7. Inspection of the towing device.
  8. Check the operation of the emergency stop, the serviceability of electrical equipment.

After use, the unit is thoroughly cleaned of dirt and ice, all places where water has accumulated are wiped off, and inspected for any malfunctions. All detected defects are eliminated.

Maintenance after break-in

After the break-in (check after the engine has operated for 5 engine hours), maintenance is performed similar to TO-1.

Maintenance TO-1

Maintenance service TO-1 is carried out after the engine has been running for 20 hours.

  1. Checking the starting system (manual start), condition of the starting cord.
  2. Inspection of the exhaust gas system;
  3. Checking the condition of the engine cooling system.
  4. Checking the fuel system. If necessary, eliminate leaks.
  5. Change of oil.
  6. Checking the variator mounting.
  7. Adjusting the brake mechanism.
  8. Checking the functionality of the transmission chain tensioner.
  9. Inspection of skis, checking wear of skis and runners.
  10. Checking electrical equipment:
  • checking and adjusting the spark plug gap;
  • wiring condition monitoring;
  • adjusting and checking the serviceability of the headlight.

11. General inspection of the snowmobile.

Maintenance TO-2

TO-2 is carried out after 50 hours of driving. Includes all operations performed during TO-1 and additional operations:

Article on the topic: Chevrolet traverse owner reviews

Checking the front suspension and steering.

Check and adjust, if necessary, the geometric parameters of the steering.

Seasonal service

Held at the end of the season. TO-1, TO-2 are performed. In addition, the apparatus is preserved for preservation in the summer.

To do this, lubricate the rubbing parts according to the diagram in the table of the operating instructions. All parts are first cleaned of old grease and dirt. Then processing is carried out. To do this, use the lubricants specified in the instructions.

History of development

Since 2013, when the first Rybinka was released, the snowmobile has had a four-stroke Japanese Subaru EX21 engine and a Canadian CVTech variator. The device developed power from 5 to 7 horsepower. The suspension was roller with spring. The mechanism had problems starting at low temperatures. Therefore, they began installing the American KohlerCH270 engine in Rybinka-2. The engine also developed a power of 7 hp. With. The variator was replaced with a box with a centrifugal dry clutch made in China. The spring was removed from the suspension.

Such savings significantly reduced the cost of the device. The engine “hit the mark,” but after replacing the variator with a clutch, big problems appeared on all snowmobiles due to the clutch. It could not withstand the loads and broke down on the first or second trip.

The Canadian CVT was returned to the released third and fourth generations of Rybinka. Added some design changes:

  • installed running boards that improved the snowmobile's handling;
  • modified fastening elements;
  • Design errors have been corrected.

The result of “Rybinka-4” shows a good price/quality ratio for the snowmobile.

Engine

The Rybinka 4 snowmobile received a high-torque four-stroke engine with a single-cylinder layout. The unit was provided by the well-known company Kohler, which is one of the key suppliers for the Rybinsk enterprise. The unit develops 7 horsepower and is started using an electric starter, which ensures trouble-free and instant starting at low temperatures. The engine displacement is 0.2 liters. Such a modest volume had a beneficial effect on the fuel efficiency of the snowmobile. The engine uses a separate lubrication system, the principle of which is carried out by spraying oil onto the components of the internal combustion engine. As for the engine oil itself, the developer recommends filling in liquid with parameters 0W40, API-SJ Showmobile RM. An acceptable power reserve is provided by a spacious 28-liter fuel tank. The manufacturer claims to support gasoline with an octane rating of at least 92. The cooling system is air type. This system has successfully proven itself in other small class snowmobiles.

The engine works with a simple continuously variable transmission with a reverse mode, which makes it possible to move backwards and make a turn.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantage of the “motor dog” is its ability to quickly be disassembled into parts and transported disassembled. During assembly, the elements fit together without gaps. Motor sleighs start well at sub-zero temperatures. According to user reviews, the engine is not loud and practically indestructible. The snowmobile is lightweight and can be pulled out of deep snow. The price of the snowmobile is quite affordable.

Article on the topic: Mercedes gla 2022 owner reviews

Among the shortcomings it was noted:

The snowmobile does not like too deep loose snow with a depth of more than 30-35 cm;

It is necessary to additionally protect the caterpillar from snow. The snow melts from the heat of the engine and freezes on the tracks.

The kit does not include battery or windshield. These options will have to be purchased additionally.

The electrics (wires, connectors) are made very poorly and carelessly.
