The Lifan 150 motorcycle is built according to the main Chinese rule known to all bikers - the simpler and cheaper, the better! Designed to compete with the incredibly popular Yamaha YBR-125, Lifan LF 150 13 is trying to win the sympathy of buyers at a more affordable price . It is really inexpensive, and this can be called its main advantage, because compared to dozens of other Chinese motorcycles, it no longer stands out. If you are looking for your first bike , or just want to acquire utilitarian motorcycle equipment, for example, for traveling for work, you can pay attention to the Lifan LF150. But you don’t have to worry about it - the motorcycle dealerships are full of other motorcycles that differ from the Lifan only in the name and the sticker on the gas tank.
Specifications
In an attempt to move the Yamaha Yubr-125 off its pedestal, the Chinese continue to reduce the price of their motorcycles, intending to grab a piece of their audience, if not by quality, then at least by a low price. By the way, they have a good chance of doing this - the Lifan LF 150 is cheap, and for this money the buyer will receive a completely viable bike. Primitive, simple, but quite normal. It weighs about 115 kg , and subjectively seems quite light, despite the old-fashioned steel frame . The cast wheels look good, the only pity is that they are too narrow, and this somewhat spoils the appearance. But already in the basic configuration of the Lifan 150 motorcycle there is a trunk, on which, if desired, you can install a central trunk.
The 150 cc air-cooled engine loves high speeds, reaching a peak power of 12 hp. to the 8000 rpm mark . By the way, it is precisely from about 8000 rpm that unpleasant parasitic vibrations begin to be felt, which does not add pleasant emotions at all. But the bike behaves very predictably, accelerating, braking and maneuvering obediently, so you can put up with minor shortcomings. The 5-speed gearbox works smoothly, but in reviews of the Lifan 150 there is mention of a sticking 2nd gear . This problem did not manifest itself in any way on the test motorcycle.
Unfortunately, in pursuit of cost reduction, the Chinese saved on brakes and suspension. And if the front disc brake works, in principle, quite well, then the rear drum brake is of little use. It’s also difficult to say anything good about the pendants - they just exist, that’s all. Well, what else can you expect from a motorcycle for that kind of money? the 15-liter gas tank looks strange (in a good way!) . In addition, Lifan 150 is not at all demanding on the quality of gasoline, and there is an opinion that it will easily run even on AI-76, if, of course, you manage to get it somewhere.
Review of the Lifan LF150-10B motorcycle
The Lifan 150-10B motorcycle is equipped with an engine with a power of 13 horsepower. The engine of this model is water-cooled, which will undoubtedly have a positive effect on engine life and preservation of performance characteristics in intense city driving in hot weather. The engine itself is beyond praise: a minimum of vibrations (thanks to the balancing shaft), good responsiveness to fuel supply, high-torque at medium speeds, and it pulls all 13 of its “horses” without losing any of them along the way..... The sound certainly could I would like to be lower and bassier, but as they say, this is not an acquired taste.
The design of the motorcycle is simple, but at the same time laconic and beautiful: nothing superfluous, everything is in its place and without unnecessary pretentiousness or an abundance of pseudo-chrome.
In addition, the combination of three color options (red, green, yellow) and silver overlays well complements the dynamism of the appearance.
Five-speed transmission installed on Lifan 150-10B: shifts according to the usual pattern: first gear down, all the rest - up. A mono-shock absorber is used as an elastic element of the rear suspension, which is adjusted in rigidity using a special key - the decision is justified, since the damping characteristics can be adjusted and the design is modern and does not spoil the appearance. As for the various gaps in the plastic, everything is done very smoothly, without plastic flashes or crooked parts mating, and in general the quality of the material itself is very decent. In the front suspension of the Lifan 150-10B, engineers installed a conventional telescopic fork. This was done primarily for the sake of operational reliability. Well, oh well, in the end, riding gently on our uneven roads is more pleasant than “squeezing the whole life out” of a motorcycle on rare flat sections, forgetting that the LF150-10B is not a cubic-sized sportbike. It is precisely designed for comfortable driving on city streets: the seating position is pleasant, thanks to the low center of gravity, the steering wheel is logically positioned, and therefore pleasant to drive; double (though not for larger persons), so it will be comfortable for both the “driver” and the “passenger”.
As for safety, it has side bars installed as standard to help avoid injuries during side falls. The design of this motorcycle is very modern, which helps it to be quite an attractive model. The large headlight reflector with good light output deserves special attention. The instrument panel is beautifully designed: everything in moderation, everything is “on theme”.
Even the ignition switch is made according to the European standard, as evidenced by the presence of a metal curtain covering the lock both from vandals and from moisture (unless, of course, it flows like a stream). It's also nice that the LF150-10B is equipped with both a side and a central stand - there is no need to constantly look for a hard supporting surface to park in order to avoid the motorcycle itself falling.
Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages
- Affordable price . For the price of purchasing a new Lifan LF150 13, you can only buy a very, very middle-aged Japanese small-capacity model. Spare parts and consumables are also cheap.
- Ease of Management . The motorcycle weighs just over 115 kg, its seat height is low (the seating position is quite comfortable for those of average height), and it steers very easily. For beginner motorcyclists, this is understandably very important.
- Spacious gas tank - as much as 15 liters! Considering the average fuel consumption of 2-2.5 liters of AI-92 per 100 km, it is easy to calculate that you will not have to stop at a gas station very often.
- Reliability of all main components . The engine and transmission of the Lifan 150 are archaic, but absolutely problem-free.
- Kickstarter available . If the battery suddenly runs out, it will always help you out.
Flaws
- Weak light from standard headlights. There is almost no sense in it on unlit roads. You can try replacing the light bulb with a more powerful one. Judging by the reviews of Lifan 150 owners, this should solve the problem.
- Narrow wheels . Because of this, on uneven asphalt the motorcycle sometimes noticeably “rearranges” and shakes along the road.
- Rigid suspension , but not very energy intensive.
- Quite fragile and thin plastic . If it falls, it will most likely break into pieces.
- The need to bring the motorcycle to a suitable condition after purchase. It is advisable to tighten all the bolts, check the wiring insulation and fill with normal fluids.
Owner reviews
I read in reviews about Lifan about a maximum speed of 130 km/h, it’s all a lie, the speedometer doesn’t go more than 110, and then with a tailwind. The light bulbs in the turn signals come on every couple of weeks, I’m already tired of changing them, I’m thinking of trying to replace all the fuses and the turn signal assemblies themselves. It was in unfinished condition from the factory, so I had to finish everything myself. Alexey, Anapa, 'Zid Lifan 150 '2014.
A very decent device for the money, a new motorcycle for the price of a worn-out bike with three times the mileage. I honestly drive my hundred and something, I run around all day on work errands, fortunately we have a long season in the city, the mileage over the entire period is already 40,000, the replacements include a taillight (broken), a clutch assembly, plastic (as a result of a fall) , turn signals (because the original ones are made from recycled teddy bears, judging by their durability). Engine and gearbox without any complaints. Igor, Feodosia, Lifan LF 150 '2013.
If you tear off the nameplates, this moped cannot be distinguished from a bunch of other Chinese, just another faceless copy of YBR. But for your money it’s ok, it doesn’t fit into your pocket. In terms of reliability, it’s too early to say, I bought it recently, but it’s comfortable to drive. Boris, Pskov, Zid Lifan LF150 13 '2013.

- Irbis GS 150. An unremarkable budget Chinese motorcycle. It costs a little more than Lifan 150 13. It looks a little more modern, although, of course, this is a matter of taste.

The Lifan LF 150 does not have any advantages on the basis of which this motorcycle could be recommended for purchase. However, it also has no noticeable shortcomings, so it’s still not worth discounting it. You just shouldn't expect anything spectacular from a regular budget bike whose main purpose is to move its owner around at minimal cost. And Lifan 150 copes with this task perfectly.
