Hello.
Continuing the article about motorcycles that set world speed records, let's look at the fastest production motorcycles.
Most modern sports bikes already accelerate to speeds of over 300 km per hour, their capabilities are deliberately reduced for the sake of safety by electronics and more, so in order to accelerate on such motorcycles to speeds over 300 km per hour, no complex tricks. No turbines or compressors are needed. After a simple procedure called “de-airing,” almost any liter sports bike will be able to exceed this speed. But we are interested in the fastest motorcycles, which are initially tuned to speeds close to the coveted 300 km per hour. For such motorcycles, a term that is no longer new has even been coined: “Hyperbike”. Our conditions will be as follows: the motorcycle must be fast, mass-produced (in fact, available for purchase) and produce the declared speed on a real road, and not in the theoretical calculations of engineers.
Suzuki Hayabusa.
— Please advise which motorcycle to buy for the first time? - Take the bus!
(Already almost a popular saying)
Let's put Busa at the head of the review, because this legendary motorcycle is undoubtedly worth it. Immediately after the start of production in 1999, the Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa received the status of the fastest motorcycle in the world and the fastest production motorcycle of the 20th century.
The first generation of these motorcycles, or rather, the motorcycles of the very first year of production, did not have any restrictions, which made it possible, having bought this motorcycle from the factory, without any tuning or modifications, to reach a speed of 312 km/h. Already from the next year, two thousand, there was a ban on the import of these motorcycles to Europe. Therefore, from 2000 to the present, the plant deliberately limits the maximum speed to 299 km per hour.
In addition to the fact that the Suzuki Hayabusa is the fastest production motorcycle, it is very popular among customizers, and in certain circles in the United States even a separate style has appeared, which involves welding and lengthening the rear swingarm and installing the widest possible “rollers” instead of the stock rear wheels.
Why was this motorcycle, obviously redundant in its characteristics, conceived? Oklahoma Highway Patrol has the answer! In 2006, she purchased a batch of the world's fastest motorcycles and equipped them as interceptors!
"Hayabusa" means "Peregrine Falcon" in Japanese. This bird of prey from the falcon family tends to hunt blackbirds. And next on our list is “Drozd” - Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird.
Ural overseas
Desperate foreign bikers who don’t want to give up an extra few months of their motorcycle season to winter know that there is one brand that frankly doesn’t care about bad weather, because it was created in such conditions and for such conditions. Constant test drives and comparisons make our bikes one of the main “survivors” in their price and weight segment, for which a special patriotic thank you to them.
Currently, the number of motorcycles assembled per year rarely exceeds a thousand, but there is constant demand for Urals, mainly in Europe and America, where there are about 120 official dealers of the plant.
One of these dealers, for example, recently provided journalists with several Ural side-trailer motorcycles, locally known as Gear-Up, for a test drive, as well as experienced travel rider Mr. Cob (short for Cranky Old Bastard).
Tell me how many months your motorcycle season lasts and I'll tell you what kind of bike you have
From the very first minutes, riders had to experience all the features of driving a motorcycle with a cradle, which is unlike anything else on two wheels in the world. At the same time, the Ural itself is not a unit for the fairer sex or sport bikers expecting high torque. The most accurate association among newly minted bikers was with the T-90 tank, which will definitely reach the end point and will never let you down.
Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird.
Much more widespread and accessible is the “Superdrozd” or, in common parlance, simply “Drozd” - another one of the fastest motorcycles in the world, the production of which, however, has already been discontinued.
Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird is a motorcycle built by Honda in order to eclipse the glory of the fastest motorcycle at that time, the Kawasaki ZX-11 (or ZZ-R1100). Drozd was produced from 1996 to 2007; the maximum speed of this motorcycle is 290 km per hour.
Why exactly “Ural”?
Indeed, why did the choice fall on this particular technique, since the Ural motorcycle is not the best for off-road use? There are many other options: IZH and other Soviet motorcycles, as well as Chinese and Japanese enduros. The Urals were chosen because:
- was available;
- easy to repair and maintain;
- it is easy to find spare parts that are relatively inexpensive;
- cardan transmission (I consider this a very big advantage of the Urals);
- high structural strength, reliability and overall survivability;
- I have decent experience in operating, maintaining and repairing this motorcycle.
In general, instead of a motorcycle for trips to the mines and fishing, you could use an ATV or an SUV, but the Ural was already available and for my purposes it was perfect.
Ural motorcycle prepared for off-road
Kawasaki ZZ-R1400.
Kawasaki motorcycles have several times taken a leading position in the production of the fastest production motorcycles, the speed of which is close to 300 km per hour. Previous generations have held their own against the Suzuki Hayabusa and Honda BlackBird, but it's the Kawasaki ZX-14R that takes the Busa to task, as both bikes have electronic speed limiters up to 299 km/h.
The Kawasaki ZX-14R has been produced, with changes, from 2006 to the present day. However, sooner or later, he will give up his place as a worthy rival to Busa in the competition of the fastest motorcycles in the world. And he will undoubtedly lose it... to the new Kawasaki H2R!
MY MOTORCYCLE
Now giving a car a head start and then overtaking it without straining on a motorcycle is not a problem. Almost every motorcycle manufacturer is trying to release the fastest superbike. and if there are enough competitors, then outdo it. Therefore, it will probably be interesting for readers to look at the rating of the fastest motorcycles, which do not even exist in single copies. Kawasaki H2R.
This is a turbocharged production motorcycle. All. You don't need to know anything more about him.
The motorcycle was announced in 2015, and has already participated in the Isle of Man TT race, where it showed a speed of “more than 332 km/h.” The civilian version of the motorcycle, of course, has limitations, but the very fact of using a turbine suggests that this motorcycle is not only the fastest, but also the most powerful of the production ones today.
When did the first all-wheel drive moped appear?
The model was first demonstrated in 1924 in Britain. For many years this was the only copy. Only almost 3 decades later the famous Rokon bike was made. Its operating principle was based on transmitting torque to the front wheel using two chains.
Despite the fact that there was no suspension, the motorcycle felt great on difficult sections of the road. The weight of such a vehicle did not even reach 100 kg. This motorbike is widely popular in our time .
Video review of the Ural motorcycle with a sidecar drive:
BMW S1000 RR.
From the outside, a gloomy German genius looks slyly at all these Japanese competitions. You can love BMW motorcycles, you can dislike them, but you cannot deny their genius, although at times it borders on the ambiguity of the designs. One of the fastest motorcycles in the world is produced by the BMW concern, and this is the BMW S1000RR and its subsequent modifications, such as the BMW HP4.
This motorcycle cannot be confused with its competitors - it is European. A very fast liter European. Journalists from the British magazine Motorcyclenews were able to accelerate the production version of this motorcycle to 317 km/h through simple manipulations: they threw out the mirrors, moved the rider back a little and replaced the driven sprocket.
Ducati 1299 Panigale.
Another European, without whom our review would not be complete. Italian motorcycle Ducati Panigale 1299, announced at the exhibition in Milan in 2014.
There are many features characteristic of Dukas, including an invariable valve desmodromus. And the appearance for which you can buy it without even delving into the technical details and maximum speed. But the speed is there, and this cannot be taken away. The Ducati Panigale 1299 is one of the fastest motorcycles available today.
Motorcycle four wheel drive
One single time, travelers had to climb into the depths of the mechanisms with a wrench, and then only to switch the bikes to all-wheel drive mode by connecting the sidecar wheel through the visible driveshaft. All-wheel drive on a motorcycle even sounds somewhat unusual, let alone the handling, which in particularly difficult areas was much better than that of the same accompanying SUV.
Physically, one could feel his desire to realize the entire reserve of safety inherent in him, which many others can only envy. Ural is, perhaps, one of the few legacies of the Soviet Union in demand on the world market, which holds its mark and commands respect by its very appearance.
Yamaha YZF-R1.
Yamaha hasn't released anything that mind-blowing. Yamaha simply produces great, fast, affordable superbikes, without the “fastest in the world” prefix. And I simply don’t want to complete this review without this brand of motorcycles. In addition, the Yamaha YZF-R1 fits well within the scope of our review, it goes 300 km/h, and in 2015 this motorcycle even became the fastest in the quarter mile race in the world.
All.

Another domestic model
Dnepr-16 is another Soviet bike with a sidecar. The model stands out thanks to the rubberized stroller springs and a load capacity of 200 kg. Such a vehicle will be an excellent option for leisure and work.
