Motorcycle IZH 2.673 “Cornet”: technical characteristics, photos, videos

Motor vehicles from the Izhevsk plant are distinguished by their lightness and mobility. Izh Cornet is particularly economical and has large dimensions.

The length of this baby barely reaches 1.94 meters, the width is 82 centimeters. Factory assembly allowed this small two-wheeled car to grow, taking into account the rear-view mirror, to only 1.28 meters. The base is allocated 140 centimeters, and therefore it is not too spread out, and the twenty-centimeter ground clearance is not very conducive to this.

The finished motorcycle requires virtually no modifications. High and practical steering wheel, comfortable footrests, streamlined teardrop-shaped gas tank . The components hidden in plastic sparkle invitingly with chrome. Discs on both wheels contribute to good braking, so this model is more suitable for amateurs who are just starting to master the basics of motorcycling.

The Cornet's mass is 90 kilograms, but its endurance is enviable: the permitted weight can reach 170 kilograms. When planning to ride the Izha, the driver feels comfortable and can take a passenger with him. All the modesty of capabilities is compensated by favorable fuel consumption - in the city, for every hundred kilometers you need only three liters of gasoline .

Due to the fact that owning such a vehicle does not require special registration, the maximum possible speed will allow even a beginner to avoid unpleasant surprises on the highway, allowing movement only up to 50 kilometers per hour.

In the photo, Izh Cornet looks so neat and unpretentious that it deserves to be the place to start your motorcycle experience.

Its indicators indicate a greater predisposition to mopeds than to motorcycles, however, the high handlebars and chopper landing still give it a biker bias. The technical characteristics of the Izh Cornet are simple and reliable, providing the owner with long and trouble-free operation.

Such a cruiser is not entirely suitable for racing and running on highways , but you can overcome traffic jams, flashing the shine of the lining between crowded cars, easily and quickly. This option is good for students, housewives, managers and beginner motorcycle fans of any age group who are thirsty for owning serious bikes.

    Minicruiser IZH Cornet

    The small and lightweight IZH Cornet motorcycle does not even require a driver’s license or registration with the traffic police. It was created for those who are trying to combine ease of movement with efficiency. Externally, the motorcycle looks good - sufficient handlebar height, forward-mounted footpegs, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and chrome-plated parts lined with plastic create a complete image and do not require additional tuning.

    The braking system provides easy and effective braking - both rear and front disc brakes allow this to be achieved. After all, most often the driver of the Cornet is a novice, whose reaction to the traffic situation may not be fast enough.

    The dimensions of the motorcycle do not inspire respect, but this is not required of it. But it is quite maneuverable and has a pleasant soft suspension. So the motorcycle is only 194 cm long, 82 cm wide, and its height, including rear-view mirrors, is 128 cm. The wheelbase is 140 cm long, and the ground clearance is almost 20 cm. The total weight of the IZH Cornet is only 90 kg, but at the same time it can carry a total load of up to 170 kg. And the driver and passenger feel quite comfortable on it.

    Design and principle of operation

    The diagram of the pistol mechanisms is shown in Fig. 1.

    The bullet is fired from the barrel due to the energy of compressed gas placed in a container for a household siphon GOST 19136-80.

    Cutting off a portion of gas to give the bullet a certain speed occurs due to the operation of the trigger mechanism. The pistol's multi-charging capacity is ensured by placing eight bullets in the magazine openings, which rotate when the trigger is pressed.

    Before shooting, the magazine is clearly fixed to ensure alignment of the magazine opening with the barrel bore.

    The trigger mechanism of the pistol will allow firing both by self-cocking and with the trigger previously set to cock the sear.

    Before use, the pistol should be brought into normal combat mode, i.e., the sighting device should be adjusted. It is recommended to carry out this work in the following order (see Fig. 3):

    1. determine the distance at which you are most often going to shoot (no more than 10 m);
    2. draw a target on a sheet of white paper - a black circle with a diameter of 80 mm, attach it to a wooden shield or other object that catches bullets well;
    3. prepare the pistol for shooting, take aim (the aiming diagram is shown in Figure 2) and fire several shots at the target from the distance you have chosen;
    4. It is recommended to adjust the sight in the horizontal and vertical planes as follows:
    • - the holes are located to the left of the black circle of the target - the rear sight should be shifted to the right;
    • - the holes are to the right of the black circle of the target - the rear sight should be shifted to the left;
    • - the holes are located under the black circle of the target - you should install a rear sight with the highest upper plane relative to the guide grooves;
    • - the holes are located above the black circle of the target - you should install a rear sight with a low upper plane relative to the guide grooves.

    If the pistol is not adjusted vertically to normal combat, you should replace the rear sight with the spare parts included in the kit and repeat the sight adjustment according to the above points. The sight is adjusted with the mounting screws loosened.

    Motorcycle Izh Cornet

    In the 90s, it was very fashionable among young people to have a motorcycle. It was not so much a means of transportation as an excuse to hit on girls. The guys spent nights in garages to improve their “faithful horse.” This is exactly the nickname that motorcyclists gave them back in the late fifties.

    IZH - 49, IZH - 56, IZH - Planet 2 - one of the favorites in the 50s - 70s from a number of motorcycles produced at the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant. They were the most unpretentious, easy to operate and maintain. We drove on any fuel that was available at that time. Among today's youth, IZH - Jupiter 5, IZH - Planet 5, IZH - Juncker are popular.

    One of the latest creations of the Izhevsk plant is IZH Cornet. It was produced from 1998 to 2004. Relatively inexpensive, does not require registration with the traffic police, due to the fifty cc, two-stroke air-cooled engine installed on it. It is equipped with a four-speed gearbox, but its power is only four horsepower. With a frame weight of one hundred kilograms, the vehicle is capable of reaching a speed of just over 50 km/h. Which is not bad at all for a moped.

    The Cornet's tank holds five liters, and the average fuel consumption is 3 liters per 100 km in various conditions. Since the engine is a two-stroke engine, you should be prepared for the fact that a small canister of oil will forever reside in the glove compartment of the moped. It is necessary to dilute gasoline in the proportions specified in the book on its operation.

    The wheels have a sixteenth radius, the rear ones are slightly wider, which allows you to select and install wider tires for better grip on the road surface when driving long distances. However, do not forget that this is a moped. Both wheels are equipped with grippy single-piston disc brakes. Due to possible wear of brake pads and caliper guide bushings, it is necessary to monitor their condition. Operating time depends on driving style and conditions.

    Exif_JPEG_420

    The appearance is similar to the original Izhevsk motorcycle line Jupiter or Planet. A high horned steering wheel, a chopper landing, a forward speed and brake foot, and a four-speed gearbox. All these advantages open up the possibility of going on short trips with it.

    The Cornet uses a lot of original spare parts from its predecessors. For example, control panels, lighting devices, shock absorbers, rear suspension. As well as the front fork, steering wheel, foot rests, gearbox, ignition assembly components, motor and drive stars.

    By the end of 1998, foreign companies were already producing fifty cc mopeds. The idea of our manufacturers was to produce a moped that would look like a motorcycle. To achieve this, a small cc engine was installed in a heavy frame. At the same time, it could be driven without having a category “A” license. They believed that this would attract new customers.

    Compared to the same original IZHs, not many of them were produced. The owner of such a device should be proud of it and keep it, because there are fewer and fewer of them every day.

    Operating procedure

    Remove any grease from the bore and remove any excess grease from the outside of the gun. Check the operation of the firing mechanism.

    When preparing a pistol for shooting, you must:

    • remove the handle;
    • insert the can, pricking it by tightening the clamping screw;
    • remove the magazine by moving the slider to the extreme forward position;
    • insert bullets into the radial holes of the magazine (insert bullets from the serration side);
    • put the store back in its original location.

    The gun is ready to fire.

    Self-cocking shooting is carried out by simply pressing the trigger.

    Firing from a combat cocked position is carried out by first placing the trigger on the combat cocking of the sear and then pressing the trigger.

    Where is it used?

    Despite the limited scope of use of the weapon, the pistol was sold out at high speed. It must be admitted that no one considered it as a means of self-defense. Indeed, there are other, more effective means to ensure your own safety. But pneumatics replenished the collections of many amateurs. In addition, novice shooters fell in love with the IZH-67 pistol. You can practice shooting skills with it, because the algorithm for shooting is quite simple.

    Recreational and sport shooting are different activities. To conduct sports competitions, special weapons are used that must be licensed. But with the help of good pneumatics, such as the Cornet, it is quite possible to conduct training, since the practical accuracy of shots is comparable to that of a sporting weapon.

    Power unit

    All models of recent years that rolled off the plant's assembly line were equipped with U6 engines. Including IZH "Junker". Its characteristics are known to all lovers of domestic motorcycles. This is a two-stroke engine with two cylinders. Its working volume is only 347 cubic centimeters. It produces 24 horsepower. The frequency indicated in the passport exceeds that indicated by the engine during operation. The theoretical value is 6 thousand revolutions per minute. In practice, this value does not exceed 5 thousand revolutions per minute.

    The engine is gasoline. But a certain amount of oil must be added to gasoline. This is necessary in order to lubricate the engine.

    The maximum speed of the IZH Junker motorcycle is 115 kilometers. At a speed of 60 kilometers per hour, fuel consumption is 4 liters. As speed increases, fuel consumption also increases. When driving 90 kilometers per hour, fuel consumption increases to 5.7 liters. These indicators are typical for driving on the highway. As for moving around the city, the approximate consumption does not exceed 7 liters per 100 kilometers.

    Test Drive

    The tests carried out show good results. The IZH Junker motorcycle is easy to control. It handles turns well. But it is not very fast. According to technical documents, this figure is 115 kilometers per hour. But during real trips, the motorcycle can accelerate to 120 kilometers per hour.

    The engine produces 24 horsepower at 6 thousand rpm.
