Technical characteristics of the irbis ttr 125 motorcycle

Most of those who choose their first motorcycle for themselves or as a gift for an older child begin to study 125 cc motorcycles. The main requirements for them are ease of operation, good maneuverability and low price. Considering that since 2014 it is legal to drive such vehicles from the age of 16 with an A1 category license, the demand for them has increased significantly, which means that a lot of worthy offers have appeared.

Top best 125cc motorcycles

Each manufacturer tries to please the buyer, offering not just an engineering solution, but the fulfillment of his desires. For some, it is important to move quickly through a city busy with traffic, for others it is important to hone their skills as a motorcycle racer, and for others it is important to get the attention of passers-by. The combination of optimal technical characteristics, attractive design and additional advantages determines which manufacturer becomes the favorite of motorcycle enthusiasts.

Taking into account demand and consumer reviews, you can draw rational conclusions for choosing and purchasing your first iron horse.

So, today the best 125 cc motorcycles (according to buyers) are:

  • Yamaha YBR 125 – this model will most likely be recommended to you by experienced drivers and those who communicate with them. This “Japanese” is often attributed the epithet “legendary”, and they love him mostly for his name. Among the advantages: it is quite light (weighs about 100 kg), accelerates to 110 km/h at 10 hp, and is easy to operate and maintain. YBR 125 is quite popular, which means that in case of malfunctions, you will instantly find a lot of consultants and technicians ready to help.

  • KTM 125 DUKE is a representative of the Austrian motorcycle family and an excellent alternative to the previous candidate. It is younger, which means it is more elegant (has a streamlined design), faster (15 hp) and more expensive. The “Austrian” will show itself in all its glory only if you fill it with 95-grade gasoline.

  • Suzuki Van-Van is another crowd favorite. It has a classic, and to some extent retro, design, and accelerates to 110 km/h. An interesting feature is the wide wheels and high ground clearance, hinting at kinship with the enduro class. However, it is still not recommended to test Van-Van off-road.

The most powerful VS economical 125 cc motorcycles

An important criterion that we pay attention to when comparing motorcycles is power. Most 125cc bikes offer between 7 and 15 horsepower. The maximum speed and how confident you will feel on the road depend on this indicator. In manufacturers' catalogs you can find lightweight models with high power, for example the Aprilia RS 125 has 33 horsepower. The question immediately arises: “Do you need a category A license to drive such a vehicle?” The answer is definitely yes, because A1 allows you to control vehicles with a power of up to 11 kW. If you choose from what is permitted by law, you can choose the Yamaha YZF-R125. With 125 cc and 15 horsepower, it makes you feel like a driver of a 250 cc “sport”.

If efficiency plays an important role in your choice, you should pay attention to the Honda PCX 125 and SH MODE scooters. They do not take up much space, consume an average of 2.4 liters per 100 km and become indispensable when you need to get around any traffic jam and save the most valuable thing - time.

Sports and motocross 125 cc motorcycles

Which type should I choose? It makes sense to take “sport” when the goal is to develop in this direction. And 125cc bikes for beginners remain the best option. They easily outpace their rivals on the track, and at the same time have a spectacular appearance. The Aprilia RS 125 and Honda CBR125R are worth mentioning here.

If you want to take part in motocross racing or learn tricks, then you should choose motocross models. They are made from lighter (but no less high-quality) materials than their sports companions, and consume 2-3 liters per 100 km. One of the most popular models today remains the KTM SX. However, when purchasing, it is important to take into account that, like most crossovers, there are no headlights or a speedometer.

What to do if even the maximum performance of 125 cc “iron horses” is not impressive and you want to immediately jump on a 600 cc one? All that remains is to study, prepare and pass for category A. Be attentive not only to the technical parameters of the iron horse, but also to your own skills and wishes. And let the long-awaited purchase pay off with driving pleasure.

125 cc motorcycles are the most popular and in demand for many reasons. Their maximum speed rarely exceeds 110-120 km/h, but the tasks that are required of them are not based at all on the speedometer readings. They are often called mopeds, or vehicles for beginners, but in vain - hundreds of thousands of kilometers are covered on 125 cc motorcycles, they are used for long-distance trips and even around the world.

Buy Irbis TTR 125

The price for the new 2012 model starts at 31-33 thousand rubles. Depending on the dealer stores selling this motorcycle, prices may vary. In used condition. this model can be found for 15-20 thousand rubles. When buying a used bike, the price will depend on the mileage, year of manufacture and general condition of the motorcycle.

Conclusion: Irbis TTR 125 is a good cross-country motorcycle made in China. In terms of price/quality ratio, we can say that it is one of the market leaders in its class. A lightweight, technologically advanced and simply beautiful pit bike is suitable for educational purposes and off-road riding not only for teenagers, but also for adults.

Advantages of the best small-capacity boats

If we consider proven brands (Honda, Yamaha, KTM), then their small-capacity models share the following advantages:

  • Economical. Gasoline consumption can be 2 – 2.5 liters per 100 km, which is several times less than even 250 cc bikes. Thanks to this expense, long-distance travel becomes half the price!
  • Cheap to maintain. Common models of small-capacity tanks require a very small amount of consumables. Even oil in most of them is poured in an amount of only 1 liter;
  • Availability of spare parts. Changing chains, sprockets, air filter, repairing brakes, repairing plastics - all this costs relatively little (compared to 600 cc equipment for nothing). In any locality you can order a used spare part, and even a new original item will still not hit your pocket hard;
  • Endurance and reliability. The best 125 cc motorcycles travel more than one hundred thousand kilometers without serious breakdowns. This technique survives trips around the world or even merciless exploitation as a “workhorse”. A good example is India, where its Bajajs carry crazy loads;
  • You can legally ride 125 cc motorcycles under special traffic regulations from the age of 16.

Do we need rights to the most famous small-capacity models?

Having a driver's license when driving on public roads in the Russian Federation is mandatory, regardless of whether it is a moped or a motorcycle. There are three categories for the right to drive two-wheeled vehicles:

  • M – allows you to drive mopeds with an engine capacity of up to 50cc. They are not fast, but they can provide basic bike control skills. You can get this category from the age of 16;
  • A1 – designed to control a 125 cc motorcycle with a power not exceeding 11 kW. It is also allowed to open from the age of 16;
  • A is a “full-fledged” motorcycle category, allowing you to drive already heavy motorcycles, as well as three- and four-wheeled vehicles weighing up to 400 kg (trikes, ATVs). This category can be opened from 18 years of age.

Top reliable small-capacity road builders

When planning to purchase a 125 cc motorcycle, it is important not just to study the technical characteristics, but to find out the nature of this equipment, its features and advantages. We have created a rating for you with the top 5 famous road builders:

  • The most famous among them is the Yamaha YBR 125. It is recommended to beginners when they ask which bike to get first. It is taught in most motorcycle schools. Yubrik, Yobrik, simply Yubr - it has established itself as a time-tested, reliable and indestructible motorcycle. It is undemanding when it comes to the quality of oil, it literally sniffs gasoline and starts with half a push. There is nothing to break in it - air cooling, simple systems, high-quality components. A real workhorse, which, nevertheless, evokes huge surges of tenderness and pride in its owners;

  • The second after Yubra can be safely called the Honda CB 125. It is practically no different, except that it costs a little more and drives a little more vigorously. The owners of this bike believe that it looks more modern than Yobrik, more seriously compared to other 125 cc motorcycles. But, despite this, Sibishka never received the reputation of a “people's bike”.

  • Among the best road warriors, the Suzuki Van-Van 125 is strikingly different. The retro design evokes nostalgic feelings among those who spent their youth driving IZHs and Javas. At the same time, Van-Vanych’s reliability is real, Japanese. The suspension, which is very good for a road worker, and the high ground clearance allow it to easily move off the asphalt.

  • Austrian classic - KTM 125 DUKE. A legendary, “evil” motorcycle, distinguished from all other brothers by its explosive and perky character. Aggressive design, small size, and the ability to cut through traffic jams make it the king of city traffic. But long-distance riders rarely make it on it - this is due to the awkward landing with a “shrimp” slope;

  • In fifth place you can put a couple of Japanese scooters at once - Honda PCX 125 and Honda SH MODE. A pleasant ergonomic design, a comfortable, even fit, and amazing wind protection make these small-capacity boats very popular, especially in Thailand or China, where the rainy season can last half a year. They are very maneuverable, which makes them a true friend for driving around the city. And spacious trunks do not require wearing backpacks or hanging additional panniers.

What engine does the Irbis TTR 125 have?

So where to start? I'll start with the fact that this is a motocross motorcycle (read about converting it into a motard below). Although it is not even completely cross-country. I would put it in the category: for country rides and mud mixing , why, read on. And for starters:

CHASSIS

Comments on Tech. characteristics: Well, now let’s criticize the manufacturer’s data. Firstly, the height of the saddle greatly depends on how the motorcycle was assembled, it varies from 820 to 830. Secondly, the maximum speed is not 100, again due to the crookedness of the Chinese, although no, they are assembled here. Therefore, it reaches a maximum of 80, but if you climb inside the engine and go through everything, it will reach the stated 100 km/h. Thirdly, such a load is 150 kg. he can trample, but with great difficulty, and the suspension won’t hold up at all. It’s not really worth traveling together, it’s not designed for two. I will also note that the Irbis 125 does not have a traditional gearbox scheme. N->1->2->3->4, that is, all gears are up, you will have to get used to it.

In order, from the moment of purchase onwards.

The cost of this miracle is now in Moscow time. averages 35 thousand rubles. And it varies from 29 to 45 thousand rubles. The kit includes only the motorcycle itself, a strange instruction manual in Russian, but I don’t recommend attaching any importance to it, since I had the feeling that it was from another motorcycle, and a small set of tools, which in the future would be better to replace with good ones.

So, now you have become the happy owner of an Irbis and want to take a break from the intense city traffic, but that was not the case. First, you need to go through the ENTIRE motorcycle, since it comes to Russia as spare parts and is already assembled here, it’s cheaper. The main things that cause complaints are that the bolts are loose or excessively twisted, poor lubrication and fit of parts, but it doesn’t happen all the time, as they say. It even happens that the brake pedal is on the wrong side, anything can happen. I also advise you to change the oil, not on the first day, but after 1-2 days, since it is filled with shipping oil. I note that in the Irbis the gearbox and engine have a common crankcase with the same oil volume.

1)We are making protection for the rear shock absorber, since no one took care of this. And it quickly becomes clogged with dirt. You can make it out of anything, from an old car inner tube (like mine), from good fabric, someone even puts linoleum there.

We fasten it with bolts from above (just unscrew them and put part of the protection in there, make holes in the protection and screw it back in. From below we fasten it with clamps to the pendulum (the best option).

2)Enlarge the rear fender + front (optional) If you don’t do this, your back will look the same color after riding in the mud. And in front the entire engine will be covered in dirt and cooling will be poor. There are a lot of options, here are just a few of them:

This is my option. We bought a large wing from KTM and cut off a part from it, in the end it was enough for the front and rear (I installed it on the front only because I broke the standard wing in a fall (the plastic of the Irbis is flimsy), in the end, from a piece of the old and a piece of the new it turned out that something interesting.

If you don’t plan to ride around the city, then that’s all you need. The maximum that can be supplied is hand protection.

It is not designed for hard cross-country with jumping. But this can be fixed, although it will take a lot of time and effort. What to fix: 1) The suspension bushings are flimsy, they need to be 2 times thicker, they will have to be machined. 2) The footpegs are attached to the engine base, it can all come off, it needs to be strengthened 3) The steering wheel is not the most comfortable. If you are tall, put a larger steering wheel, or take the Irbis TTR250 (About its differences and about it in general in the next review)

If you neglect the rework, you will get this:

5) In order to be heard, we remove the glass wool from the muffler, it is very useful. And the sound is nicer. 6) We put the drive sprocket on 17 teeth, instead of the standard 16, the speed is higher, the torque is less, but in the city it is not particularly needed.

1)We stud the rubber.

I will not consider conversion for stuntriding.

There are defects, as all Chinese have, but there are no problems with spare parts, they bring a lot. But if you install non-original spare parts, then there may be problems with the tires. I looked for good cameras for 14 and 17 for a very long time, picked up the latter from the store, installed some, and left others in reserve.

1)The candles burn out very quickly. Clean them more often, especially if they don't start, the problem is most likely in them. The best option is a small bag with tools between the fairing and the steering wheel, it will help on the roads;)

2)Petrol tap. If you change the gas filter, be prepared for the fact that gasoline flows regardless of the position of the tap, it just flows less in the closed position.

3)The drive sprocket quickly becomes clogged with dirt; if you knead the dirt, it needs to be cleaned.

4)Clutch. In the clutch, the pressure bar always moves to the left during active driving and the clutch disappears, a design flaw.

We fix it by increasing the protrusions of the limiting bar or like this: The limiting plate 2 itself has an “arch” at the bottom where the screw 3 passes. If you select a washer slightly thinner than plate 2 and equal to the diameter of the arch’s circumference and tighten it together with plate 1 (place the washer between plate 2 and the bar 1), then the washer will act as a limiter and will not allow the plate to float away. On the outer locking plate, you can also carefully bend the stop tabs (indicated by arrows) to an angle of slightly less than 90 degrees.

Choosing motocross and enduro motorcycles

The ability to go off-road is expensive. Not every 125cc motorcycle can withstand jumps or almost complete drowning in the mud. We have selected the best options for enduro riding for you:

  • The Honda XR 125 (XR125L) bike has proven reliability, excellent cross-country ability, low consumption and convenient control. Despite the fact that it can be classified as a motocross motorcycle, it is equipped with lighting equipment and has every right to drive on special roads. As for an enduro, it does not have a very high saddle height, which is why this option is especially popular with girls and shorter riders;

Selecting a pit bike by price

The price factor when choosing a pit bike is often decisive. However, today this is not a problem. With a huge selection of models from a variety of manufacturers, you can find a suitable model without going beyond your planned budget. There are both inexpensive options and more expensive ones.

Up to 40 thousand rubles

The first thing that comes to mind at this price is children's and teenage models. One of them is Avantis 050 Basic 17/14. This is an excellent option with an engine up to 50 cc and different-sized wheels of 17 and 14 inches. Like many similar models, it is equipped with reliable disc brakes and an automatic transmission. Pit bikes of this type are easy to control, and most importantly, they have a speed limiter.

Avantis 050 Basic 17/14

If we talk about models for adults, a good example of budget vehicles would be the CROSS MOTOLAND XT50 and Kayo DBR SX50-A2T. The volume of two-stroke engines of these models also does not exceed 50 cm³. Power varies from 2.1 to 3.5 hp. However, there are even cheaper pit bikes, but their power is no more than 1.8 hp.

CROSS MOTOLAND XT50

The transmission for public sector employees is most often a CVT. All have disc brakes. As for the maximum speed, as a rule, it is 35-40 km/h.

Budget pit bikes are great for fishing, hunting, and safe riding over rough terrain. Their main advantage is the price. The main disadvantage is the same, since developers are forced to save on almost everything.

Kayo DBR SX50-A2T

Eventually:

  1. the engine of cheap mini-motorcycles is almost impossible to adjust;
  2. the kickstarter mounting points quickly fail;
  3. The frame, although made of steel, is hollow inside, not suitable for intense loads;
  4. The shock absorber rods are weak, so the fork often sways at speed, which negatively affects handling;
  5. rims, spokes, rubber tires - all of this is often of poor quality.

As a result, to bring this type of equipment to fruition, additional tuning of 10-15 thousand will be required. Is it worth it? You decide. Many people find it easier to consider a more advanced model in a higher price category.

Up to 100 thousand rubles

There is already room to turn around. The choice of pit bikes in this price category is simply huge. Here you can find models for children and for more experienced riders who love tricks - jumps, drifts, stunts.

It is in this price segment that you should look for the first car for a beginner. Firstly, pit bikes priced at 50-80 thousand will, at a minimum, be more reliable and safe. Secondly, they are easier to control and will not hit the wallet as much as mini-motorcycles costing 150-200 thousand.

The best choice would be a 125cc pit bike, such as the Kayo Basic YX125. It is equipped with standard wheels (rear 14 inches, front 17 inches), telescopic forks, rear monoshock absorbers and a 125 cc four-stroke engine producing 11 hp.

Kayo Basic YX125

Most models in this price category can boast of the following features:

  1. Steel frame. Despite the fact that on some models it is still hollow, it has a more impressive wall thickness compared to “state employees”.
  2. Engine. It is reliable and more resistant to stress. The volume varies from 110 to 160 cubic meters.
  3. Electric starter. Many models, in addition to the classic kickstarter, also have an electric starter.
  4. Impact resistant plastic. All plastic parts have shape memory.
  5. Steering wheel. It is also heavier due to an increase in the wall thickness of the parts. Much less likely to become deformed when dropped.

As for the transmission, it is available in both manual and automatic versions. The weight of a mini-motorcycle varies from 70 to 80 kg. Monoshock absorbers on some models are already adjustable. The tire thickness has been increased and the tread has a deeper pattern.

In this category you can already find more powerful units, for example YCF Supermoto F125 12/12, 125 CC (2020). With the same volume of 125 cubic meters, there is already a power of 11 hp, and the total weight does not exceed 69 kg.

Sports small-capacity boats

Often the owner of a 125 cc motorcycle wants his bike to look like a sports bike (in plastic, with a “recumbent” seat). Of course, it won’t drive like an R1, Hayabusa or even an ER-6, but it will definitely attract attention with its appearance. Here are the most popular models of small-capacity sports:

  • Honda CBR 125 R is an attractive motorcycle with very good speed and power. Despite its small volume, we can safely participate in races. Maneuverability, lightness, and a specific riding position allow the bike to accelerate to 140 km/h!

  • Yamaha YZF-R125 is a direct competitor to the CBI. It is slightly slower, reaching a speed of only 130 km/h. At the same time, its character is more flexible, and fuel consumption is significantly less;

  • The Aprilia RS 125 has a power of 33 hp, which is twice as much as both previous variants, and it can accelerate to 175 km/h. Such performance was made possible thanks to the two-stroke engine.

Now that you have decided exactly what tasks are required from a motorcycle (reliability, explosiveness, off-road, sporty look) - you can safely study advertisements for sale.

The history of two-wheeled vehicles began with rear-wheel drive. First there were belts, then chains and cardans appeared. Many bikers don't even realize that all-wheel drive motorcycles exist today.

If you are looking for an inexpensive but reliable motorcycle, I am glad to offer you equipment from Europe.

In our country, a motorcycle plays the role of a two-wheeled friend “for the soul.” If in some India, Vietnam, China the bike is used forcibly

There have always been disputes between motorcycle owners on the topic of automatic transmission. Unlike the automobile one, it is simpler and more reliable, has been tested over the years and has already won its supporters.

There are a huge number of motorcycles of various classes on the Russian market. All of them are divided by cubic capacity, so a beginner has plenty to choose from.

Due to the release of new rules for obtaining licenses, people who have received category A1 licenses are allowed to use only motorcycles with an engine capacity of 125 cubic cm.

Which quickly prompted an increase in sales of this cubic capacity. This law has one important advantage - safety. Some beginners immediately bought themselves powerful sports bikes, endangering themselves and others.

When buying a motorcycle, you need to understand that there will definitely be falls; it is simply impossible to cope with a bike that accelerates to hundreds in 4 seconds without experience.

Choosing a pit bike based on engine power

  • Volume 50 - 110 cm3 - minibikes for children. Speeds up to 60 km/h. All models have electric starters, CVT and semi-automatic gearboxes. For the little ones, it is possible to install additional side wheels on the rear wheel.
  • Volume 125 - 140 cm3 - pit bikes for beginners and teenagers. Speeds up to 90 km/h. Will carry any person weighing up to 130 kg.
  • Volume 150 - 160 cm3 - already warmed up pit bikes for experienced pilots who are ready to rock out, because... the equipment will constantly provoke this! For example, there is a stock 160 cm3 engine with a 4-valve head, a lightweight crankshaft and connecting rod, an adjusted fuel supply system, which produces 22 hp!
  • Volume 200 - 250 cm3 - pit bikes and motorcycles, more suitable for off-road and enduro. Designed for people with experience in driving motorcycles.

Making the right choice

The best choice would be a bike with 125cc, it can accelerate to 130 km per hour, and in the city there is enough power for flow maneuvers.

Before purchasing, you should think about why you are purchasing it. If you are going for forest or mountain trips, you should think about a cross-country option. They have higher ground clearance and studded tires.

The engine usually has more powerful cooling, since generally such bikes work at the limit, which is why the engine often overheats.

If you need an option for traveling in the city or on the highway, the best option would be a road bike. It has a stiffer suspension, lower seating position, and wider tires.

Most often, this option is chosen by new bikers, the handling of such motorcycles is excellent, the gearbox is configured by the manufacturer specifically for the city and the highway, with the required subordinate number in the gears. There are motorcycles that deserve attention, and some of them have already become legends in this class.

The legendary cruiser Kawasaki Vulcan 800 is an excellent choice for true connoisseurs.

Yamaha YBR 125

An equally popular model in Russia, the bike has earned respect for its pedigree and excellent reliability. It has an aggressive look following the 2010 update, with a modern sporty exterior design and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The engine is 125 cc, four-stroke, paired with a five-speed gearbox, capable of accelerating to 120 km per hour.

The Yamaha YBR 125 motorcycle has only two disadvantages: it is a weak engine and small dimensions. If the driver weighs more than 100 kg, it will be difficult for him to climb hills, and it will also look like riding a toy.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like many other motorcycles, this model has a number of advantages:

  • Light weight;
  • Comfortable fit for short people (for example, teenagers);
  • The engine and other components are not covered by plastic casing, which allows for quick and easy repair or replacement;
  • Details of the snow leopard ttr 125 with impressive characteristics can be found in any specialized store.

Among the disadvantages of the snow leopard ttr 125, it is worth noting the following:

  • A motorcycle is inconvenient for people taller than 170 cm and above.
  • Problems often arise with the carburetor on the Irbis TTR 125 pit bike, so it should be replaced some time after purchase.
  • During the cold season, the equipment may not start the first time.
  • Some motorcyclists find the irbis ttr 125 chain rather weak.
  • Kickstarter needs to be improved.
  • The stand does not provide sufficient stability.

Alpha 125 LUX 125 CC

This unit can hardly be called a motorcycle, although its appearance somewhat resembles it; according to documents, it is a moped. It was first released in 2008, and was updated several times during its production. The appearance suggests that this is a classic from the 80s.

Lots of chrome parts, a lot of steel and no plastic at all. It is equipped with a 4-stroke engine with a power of 7 hp.

It is paired with a 4-speed gearbox; together they are capable of accelerating the motorcycle to 110 km per hour. Fuel consumption according to the manufacturer is only 2 liters per 10 km; with a tank of 9 liters, it is capable of covering a distance of 450 km on one fill-up.

This is an impressive result for a moped. The instrument panel has only a speedometer with a pair of sensors; the bike is equipped with an electric starter.

Review of the Irbis TTR 125 pit bike

Lately, this particular pit bike has been trying to get the title of “people’s bike,” and for good reason. Large wheels, simple design, availability in stores and low cost - these are the main advantages of the device. Buyers for the most part don’t even know the concept of a “pit bike”; they buy the TTR 125 as a first motorcycle for training or as a moped for the dacha (in the village), for trips along paths for picking mushrooms and fishing. They are not chasing the brand, beauty, multi-colored anodized aluminum parts, or the classic form factor (with 14/12 wheels). Most want the cheapest price on the market, simplicity of design, field repair with an ax and availability of spare parts. And with the latter, judging by the widespread use of the device, there should be no problems. Irbis TTR really that good ?

Technical characteristics of IRBIS TTR 125

Engine type and volume: 4t, 125cc. Engine power: 8.2 hp Transmission: 4-speed manual transmission, chain Fuel tank volume: 3.2 l Overall dimensions: 1700x780x1100 mm Dry weight: 67 kg Tires (front/rear): 17 / 14 Brakes (front/rear): disc / disc Features: powerful 125 cc engine .cm., off-road tires 14/17′, engine protection

Engine

The engine is copied from the reliable Honda engine HONDA CUB. In the TTR 125, the clutch breaks the connection between the kick and the engine, so you can only start it in “neutral” - a good protection against error. True, during the test I had to master the old method of launching - “from the pusher”, since the beautiful shiny kick lever flew off after the second launch along with the accompanying parts. We managed to find the parts, but it was impossible to assemble the mechanism with a tight spring in the field. The unit clearly needs improvement. The TTR 125 engine pulls superbly, and in first gear it easily gets on the rear wheel “from the gas”, and allows you to get underway in “second” and even “third”. It’s not very clear why the “kid” needs trial skills, but someone will probably like to “goat.” In general, “125” just encourages you to light it up. But the fact that the “neutral” of her “four-step” is at the very bottom, and not between “first” and “second”, was somewhat discouraging. And it’s not even a matter of habit - it develops quickly - but the fact that it’s not without reason that designers all over the world use a circuit with an intermediate “neutral”. Imagine that on a steep climb you shift down and suddenly... you find yourself in “neutral”. And there is often no time left to restart the gear.

Suspension

The TTR 125 suspensions are frankly disappointing: they are too soft in compression and too tight in rebound (especially the rear), so on a more or less uneven road the saddle turns into a wooden stool, and you have to save yourself by standing on the pegs. And when hitting bumps, the front suspension breaks all the way - I note, with the weight of the rider in the equipment only 70 kg!

Brakes

The brakes are hydraulic with reinforced hoses and turned out to be not very good, especially the front one. It is faulty - the “floating bracket” hardly moved on the guides. Therefore, apart from the creaking, nothing intelligible could be achieved from it, although by the end of the test it had developed somewhat.

Electrics

When purchasing a new motorcycle, pay close attention to checking the electrical system, because... Since in these devices the only electrical element is the headlight, it will not be difficult to turn it on. Unfortunately, Chinese manufacturers often have such a drawback as unconnected wires, and in order not to rack your brains over this in the garage, it is better to check everything when purchasing. Bottom line

In general, the motorcycles left a pleasant impression. The quality is at a level that allows us to talk about its relationship with the price. And today it is the main trump card of these devices. Upon detailed inspection, the TTR 125 turned out to be prepared for off-road use: the headlight is attached to convenient and durable rubber fasteners, the frame is protected from abrasion by motor boots with neat plastic covers, and the gearbox foot is foldable. But the main feature is the weight and size characteristics of the motorcycle. We don't have many teenage enduros. And this one will fit those who are 14-16 years old, but even older guys will fit on it - albeit with less comfort. Among the minor shortcomings are the need to modify the kickstarter, instability on the stand, and a weak chain. Our advice to buyers: tightening threaded connections and clamps is a mandatory procedure!

The most common breakdowns according to statistics
  • After almost a few rides, the hub of the pit bike breaks, the spokes fly out, or the rear wheel simply falls apart
  • When riding on a cross-country track at serious overhangs, the pit bike’s suspension can’t handle it and the rear shock absorber turns into an arc and simply bends
  • The upper ears of the Irbis TTR pit bike, the engine mounts on the frame, often break off. It can be solved by conventional welding on site.
Tuning pit bike Irbis TTR 125

When disassembling the engine, much to our chagrin, it turned out that the pit bike has the maximum permissible piston group, because
the crankcase is bored to the maximum and a sleeve with a wider diameter simply will not fit. When installing a high-compression piston, engine performance did not improve significantly; thrust improved by an almost imperceptible amount. When installing a light generator on the IRBIS TTR 125 pit bike, the effect of increasing power was also not noticed, we only experienced difficulties in starting the pit bike. Installing a different carburetor is possible, with a flat choke carburetor or an original Japanese pit bike working better. Based on materials from Za Rulem and Pit Bike Club

So what should you choose?

Before purchasing, you should definitely decide for yourself why you need it. If you need a city horse that will never let you down, the best choice would be the Suzuki Van-Van 125 or Yamaha YBR125, they have high reliability and are able to easily overcome the 60 thousand km mark without breakdowns.

If the budget is not large or you don’t want to kill your first motorcycle, the best solution would be the Alpha 125 LUX 125cc.

Although according to documents it is a moped, in reality it is capable of giving odds to any enduro with a 125 cc engine.

It is perfect for the role of a martyr, it will tolerate falls and incorrect gear shifts, and if it breaks down, spare parts for it cost pennies.

Cross models from Japanese manufacturers cost a lot of money, which is better not to spend on a new bike, because in a year it will look like an old one.

For the first thousand kilometers of off-road, the Patron Enduro 125 is perfect. It is not bad for both the city and bad roads, which makes it somewhat universal.
