Review and technical characteristics of Virago irbis 110

The irbis virago 110cc moped is designed for city driving. At the same time, it is also well suited for traveling outside the metropolis. The Irbis company has created the ideal combination of simplicity, controllability , price and quality making it very popular.

The Virago 110 is great as a first motorcycle. Light weight and ease of control allow novice drivers to quickly master the snow leopard Virago. A comfortable fit, an ergonomic steering wheel, and the absence of a large number of bells and whistles allow you to enjoy the ease of driving.

The power of the four-stroke engine is quite enough for a calm and measured ride on city streets and outside the city. The cooling system is air. The engine is started using an electric starter and a kick starter. Fuel is supplied using a carburetor. There are no strict requirements for fuel quality. The manufacturer of Irbis Virago 110 recommends using AI92 gasoline.

The suspension of the irbis virago moped is reliable and well thought out. Powerful shock absorbers and road tires allow the motorcycle to be used on rough terrain. The drum-type brake system is characterized by its simple design and reliable operation. In addition, the brakes are easy to maintain.

Disadvantages of the model

  • Vibration appears at high speeds.
  • Sand and dust get into the rear shock absorbers, so they need to be cleaned quite often.
  • Tires are not made for asphalt. Wear occurs quite quickly.
  • In general, the Irbis Virago moped is quite consistent with its price category. You can't expect anything supernatural from him. A minimum of functions for a low price is what you need for a quiet ride. The absence of bright details, with the exception of alloy wheels and chrome parts, allows all attention to be paid to the technical parameters.

At the request of the user leech, I am doing a review of my motorcycle. I will try to tell you about it as much as possible without straining your brain. There is a lot of text, photos and videos under the cut.

    1) Choice. The choice was not easy. Initially I wanted a scooter, I knew that 50cc would not be enough, I looked at 125 and 150, then I found a mini chopper with an engine like the one on my Elf. There were already posts about it on BP, here it is: I wasn’t happy with the fact that these choppers all come with a 50cc engine, which is not enough. Then a friend showed up and told me about Alpha. I started digging up information on the Internet about it, and it turned out that it comes with engines of different cubic capacity: 50, 72 and 110 cc. There are also Orions, they don’t have 110 cc engines, they have 125 cc engines. Orions come in different versions; version “A” differs from Alpha only in small details. Version “B” - Has a completely different frame, and the Griffin version differs from Alpha only in name and cubic capacity. There are also Deltas, we have already written about them, and even traveled about them. Delta: I didn’t like the frame of the Delta, it’s a hell of a scooter, it’s more suitable for pensioners to carry sacks of potatoes. Orion version “B” I found out about Orion late, so Orion would have taken it. After some time, another friend of mine bought Alpha 72 cubes. I sat on it, took it for a ride, and decided to take it, but a 110 cc one.

    2) Purchase. I was looking for this motorcycle for a very long time, I saw one like this in one store, but 72 cc. I found out and they said they would deliver the 110cc next week. They never delivered it, they said just wait, this continued until June 14th. Then I saw the same one in another store, they said a car with 110 cc would arrive tomorrow, they didn’t deceive me, 15 arrived, they said they brought 9 pieces, come tomorrow and pick it up, today they haven’t unloaded it yet, we arrive on 16 in the evening, and there are two left, the red one in the window, and the black one in the box, we asked to collect the black one, after 20 minutes they checked everything, loaded it into the gazelle and took it home. The motor cost me 32,000 rubles, and they gave me a canister of oil as a gift.

    3) Operation. Run-in 1200 km. passed in a week, replaced with 350 Chinese bodyagu only nothing like oil. Next replacement at 1800 km. The motorcycle is quite fast for its 10 horses and 110 cc, maximum speed is about 105 km/h. The front suspension is excellent, absorbs all the bumps. The rear is adjustable, either very soft or oak, although even at the hardest setting, on large bumps the wheel scrapes against the fender. The guys I talked to who install rear shock absorbers from IZH say they are much better. The wheels are narrow but normal for this motorcycle, the rims are 17 inches. The rear view mirrors need to be changed, but I managed to adjust them so that I could see more or less normally. The light is not very good, it’s worth installing xenon, I don’t drive at night, so I didn’t bother. The light is from the generator, now I’m thinking about how to make it from the battery. There is an indicator of the gear engaged, a 4-speed gearbox, all gears are down, in a circle. The speedometer is lying terribly, showing 10 km/h less. Consumption is 2.5-3 liters per 100 km, I don’t know the exact volume of the tank, but almost 8 liters, of which 1 liter is a reserve. The standard case is small and makes a terrible noise, I took it off, I don’t need it. Another disadvantage is the terrible vibrations from 70 km/h, it is not known how to deal with them. Starting is possible with both an electric starter and a kick starter. It's easy to maintain, I haven't had any breakdowns so far, 7356 km. The motorcycle is quite maneuverable and is quite comfortable in traffic jams. Hard seat. The brakes are effective and sufficient for its speed and weight. Sensitive to side gusts of wind, it first pushes away from oncoming trucks with a wave of air, then pulls under the wheels. With my height of 176 cm, it is a little small, my knees are higher than the tank.

    4) Conclusion. The motorcycle is ideal for those who want to understand what a motorcycle is and how to ride it, ideal for learning, suitable for both the country house and the city.

In our city, the cops don’t pay attention to mopeds. The most important thing is not to violate them. Well, it’s unlikely that the Chinese will give you a license plate. Maybe they’ll give you current from 125cc. And if they want to get to the bottom of it, they’ll pester you with any cubic capacity... they also say that above 50cc you need a license .that’s why manufacturers and sellers try to write 49.9cc and I think the cops already know about this anyway. So there’s no point in them slowing down everyone. There are so many of us driving around the city

It’s normal that all Chinese, without exception, have vibration; the 139fmb139qmb engine does not have an “anti-vibration” shaft.

Soon I will check in with my chopper. By the way, since 2007 these choppers have sold for fifty cents, up to 2007 they cost 80cc. )

Yura, my friend and I also had an Alpha, they bought it as equals, drove it together, he paid for it more than once, and I just changed the oil

First of all, these are all MOTORCYCLES (mopeds up to 50cc). And until you put your hands to it for a MONTH, I DO NOT RECOMMEND traveling. Everything is VERY BAD. Broaching, setting, finalizing and 100,500 more things. I drove it and put it in the garage for a month. But then it’s a fairy tale.

Pros: body design, dynamics, ground clearance, trunk volume, fuel consumption, maintenance cost, handling, price

Cons: quality of materials, build quality, gearbox

That's a great spender. I immediately removed all the metal from it in the form of protection, lightening the already structure by 10 kg. The engine is not capricious, the main thing is not to let the passenger and the patient spin at 10,000 rpm. Of course, the fork can be made stiffer, but this can be done in the garage. The downside is the weak bulbs in the turn signals. Three out of four burned out on the third day. And I also had a 150 cc. Geon. There is also a 1200 cc motorcycle. But in terms of power consumption and the ratio of mass to power in horses, the Alpha can easily handle 150 cc. The same geon weighed 125 kg. My Alpha weighs 75. This is a 50 kg difference, despite the fact that in terms of power the Alpha is inferior to almost nothing. 7 horses versus 10. But the ratio makes itself felt. On the first day on the road, I accidentally stood on a goat twice.

In the summer of 2014 I also took such a device.

    I'll go through your cons.

    > 1 - moped, bent frame. the most important thing!

I didn’t notice, given my weight of 100+ kg, I didn’t find any problems with the frame.

    >2 — spark plug, I don’t remember exactly, maybe 9 or 70 km

I take it out every 100 km and clean it, no problems.

    >3 — oil seal on the clutch cover

didn't bother me, maybe it was worth paying attention to.

    >4 - low beam wiring (maybe damp or something...)

Yes, not everything is going smoothly with the wiring, I can only advise you to check all the connections. For some reason, the Chinese always have this weak point.

    >5 - the gasket between the cylinder and the box is sweating.

    didn't notice

    >6 - one beep bounced off due to vibration

for sure, our roads have a negative impact on Chinese mopeds =)

    >7 — original mirrors, also from vibration.

    yes, that's right.

You can also add an unreliable seat, it’s already falling apart under me.

Well, and probably soft metal - the arcs bend from falls.

But in general the device is ok, in the spring I will open the second season on it. I think after winter it will start once.

    Advantages:

    He is perfect

    Flaws:

    No

I had a moped like this. Very ideal for a summer house. It is very comfortable, the steering wheel can be adjusted without problems. If you don't drive it at high speed, it will last a long time. He needs to be looked after. Drive it for 500 km, shake every bolt and change the oil more often, and it will serve you for a long time. It is very light in weight.

    Advantages:

    Low fuel consumption.

    Flaws:

Since then it has not started very quickly, the wheels are narrow.

The moped is pretty good. Personally, I reached a maximum speed of 90 km per hour, although you can go much more, I think a hundred is definitely possible. The narrow wheels are not a big drawback on this moped, although I think it’s normal for such a model. Another drawback is a lot of vibration when the motorcycle accelerates to 60-70 km per hour, maybe not much more. The big plus here is the front suspension, which helps a lot on bumps. Easy to manage. Very good for city driving. In general, my opinion: a good moped for a normal amount, although for that amount you can get something better. So I’ll give you this advice: before you buy, think a hundred times and evaluate all the options; sometimes it’s better to pay a little extra and buy something better than to save. After all, for just a small surcharge you can buy a much better moped or motorcycle.

The Alpha moped is my first vehicle, which has proven itself very well.

So, the first thing that catches your eye is that the bike is not expensive. Prices may vary in different regions of the country, but the average price remains within 40,000 - 45,000 thousand rubles.

The second is appearance. Roll bars, cast wheels, seats and tank, which make the bike look impressive, will not leave anyone indifferent.

Third is dynamics and power. If you test the moped correctly, you will be able to experience all the advantages. The motor has enough power to lift the moped onto the rear wheel, has very good dynamics and quickly picks up speed. You will also be pleased with the four-speed gearbox (in some versions it can be semi-automatic). As for the maximum speed, I did not accelerate more than 100 km/h, although I felt that it was possible to push it further, and I do not advise you to do so, since the moped is light and loses stability at high speed. The cruising speed, in my opinion, is about 70 - 75 km/h.

Fourth - low cost of spare parts. Many people say that mopeds often break down and in general the quality of assembly and parts is terrible, but I disagree with them; with proper running-in and operation, the moped will go for a long time without breakdowns. And even if something breaks, you will be surprised how easily and cheaply you can buy everything for it.

And finally, fifth - easy tuning. The manufacturing plants themselves produce many parts specifically for tuning mopeds. So you can purchase a sports headlight, oil cooling, wind deflectors, direct-flow mufflers and much more.

I hope I have convinced you that this technique is worthy of attention. And the last plus is only 2 - 3 liters per hundred kilometers. That's all for now, good luck to everyone!

This was my first moped. My dad bought it for his birthday. I was very pleased. The maximum I drove on it was 115 km/h (I also bent down for aerodynamics). I changed the tires twice. If there were any breakdowns, they were minor, the parts were cheap. The capacious gasoline tank lasted for 3-4 days. I removed the side bars. As soon as you buy, look at the nut that holds the muffler. It might fall off. The moped is easy to clean. Not afraid of dirt. In general, that's all.

Since the motorcycle season has begun, I decided to write a review about the often purchased Alpha device, I had two Alphas 49 and 110 cc, option 2 is of course better, there is no big difference in price, but behind the wheel it’s very good, accelerated to 90 mph, which I more than enough, it cost me 36 thousand, I drove it off the showroom floor, the running-in went well, that’s why it drives properly. I really don’t recommend buying such a moped secondhand, especially from schoolchildren; if you buy it, you’ll spend a day on it, a week on it, that is, you will constantly be repairing it, due to frequent breakdowns. In general, the moped itself is quite good, I drove the first five thousand km without a single breakdown, only consumables were changed. The moped is suitable for both track and dirt. It’s better to drive with a license, I was given a fine of 10 thousand rubles. But if you have a license, then you can safely get where you need to go, and it won’t particularly affect your finances, the expense is very low, and the price itself is not high either. Having weighed I decided to take all the pros and cons and I advise you. I have already driven 7 thousand km, and I’m still driving. It’s very easy to drive, any teenager can handle it, I recommend it to everyone
