BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC is a universal snowmobile from a famous Canadian brand. The car went into production in a limited edition. This is a rare modification designed for extreme travel on snowy roads with difficult terrain. You can also move on loose snow, or use this device as a carrier of large loads. At the first stage of development, BRP positioned this snowmobile for military needs, but later civilian modifications appeared based on this model.
The BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC is a high-tech snowmobile developed by the Finnish division of BRP. The machine is ideally adapted to harsh climatic conditions, including the northern regions of Russia. The model under consideration works properly in regions with low temperatures.
The snowmobile, belonging to the family of the same name, is positioned as the widest track snowmobile in the world. We have before us a limited version with original solutions – both in technical and design terms. The machine is equipped with a telescopic or lever suspension, depending on the selected configuration.
Let's note the main advantages of the Army Limited 800 E-TEC series:
- Curved steering wheel with adjustable height
- Mountain sling
- Gearbox with low modes
- Two seats (driver and passenger)
- Energy-intensive suspension.
The limited-edition Canadian snowmobile combined the advantages of sports and touring machines, and thus became a universal device. In terms of comfort, a car with a telescopic suspension is certainly somewhat worse compared to the lever version, but, at the same time, the latter option is not as sporty and is endowed with refined handling (unlike the telescopic suspension). In any case, the telescopic option is considered more preferable for areas with a lot of trees. We highly appreciate the unique design with wide tracks and Blade skis. The beneficial properties of this chassis have a beneficial effect on cornering stability. Any slipping and uncontrolled drifts are absolutely excluded. The BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC snowmobile has a two-speed transmission and clutch with excellent settings. Thanks to the increased gear ratio, it was possible to facilitate the movement of the snowmobile when fully loaded (two people plus a small load). The powerful powerplant delivers excellent traction performance and is tuned to achieve high top speeds in a short time. Note the fact that even under heavy load the engine does not overheat at all, since the cooling system always maintains a stable temperature that does not increase above the optimal level. In addition, the design of the cooling system is reinforced by a radiator located at the front.
Basic equipment elements:
- Electric starter
- Blade skis
- Heated grip function
- Rear view using side mirrors
- U-shaped metal steering wheel with J-shaped handles. The extension can be adjusted.
- Increased height windshield
- Multifunctional information dashboard
- Towbar
- Two Modular seats. The passenger seat can be quickly removed if necessary.
- Speedometer, tachometer
- Underbody protection for the engine compartment
- Rechargeable battery adapted to the northern regions of Russia
- Fuel level sensor
- Case, camouflage coloring.
Pros:
- Powerful high torque motor
- Steel engine protection
- Possibility to choose between energy-intensive and rigid suspension
- Double seat, as well as the ability to transport cargo containers
- Economy and environmental friendliness of internal combustion engines
- Sharp and responsive handling with telescopic suspension.
Minuses:
- The engine is demanding on fuel quality
- Mediocre handling and cross-country ability of the version with wishbone suspension
- Expensive service, limited edition, high cost of the limited version.

Shock-absorbing suspension
The LTS type suspension located at the front provides high ground clearance on the snowmobile. This, in turn, allows you to ride without fear of getting caught on stumps or logs lying on the snow. In addition, the telescopic fork makes it possible to ride in deep snow conditions when compared to other suspensions. That is, high cross-country ability would simply not be possible without an LTS-type suspension.
The PPS-6900-A rear energy-intensive suspension minimizes vibrations from driving over various bumps, while the driver and pilot feel as comfortable as possible.

Engine
The vehicle in question is equipped with a modern Rotax 800R E-TEC power plant, which stands out for its high fuel efficiency - largely due to its compact two-stroke layout with direct fuel injection and electronic control technology. These improvements result in ease of use and excellent performance for hours of use. Practice and factory tests have confirmed that the Rotax 800R E-TEC engine is 35% more economical than the closest two-stroke analogues.
With a displacement of 0.8 liters, the power plant develops 163 horsepower. The two-cylinder unit is equipped with liquid cooling, and the role of the fuel system is performed by electronic direct injection. The spacious fuel tank holds up to 45 liters, and the oil tank holds 2.8 liters of fluid.
Among the main advantages of the motor, we note the following features:
- Cruising range up to 325 km on one fully charged tank
- The engine starts with one revolution of the crankshaft, despite extremely low temperatures
- Smooth idle operation
- Minimum oil consumption at high loads (1 liter required for 450 km)
- Rational use of power output in such a way that there is a reserve of power - for example, for moving uphill and performing complex traction tasks
- Automatic break-in
- High environmental performance of internal combustion engines
- During long-term operation, the engine does not emit smoke or unpleasant odors.
- Automatic conservation.
Snowmobile BRP 800
69 YETI ARMY 800E-TEC is a snowmobile that is designed for people who move only forward. The equipment simply does not tolerate defeat, has incredible cross-country ability and passes through the most difficult areas.
A powerful engine along with a modern design and a proper shock-absorbing system is attracting more and more attention. There are no compromises when it comes to a 164 horsepower sled.
Only the most difficult landscapes and low temperatures are ideal conditions for operating the snowmobile in question. The build quality of the snowmobile is at the highest level, all the main components and parts are created in such a way that they do not fail at a crucial moment, thereby leaving the driver alone with nature. Let's look at the technical characteristics of the "predator".
Reviews
- Alexander, St. Petersburg. The machine is compact and reliable, designed to tow heavy cargo containers. To achieve this, the unit is equipped with a powerful motor and has a large power reserve. The result was a kind of sports truck on tracks. A forced engine works wonders - it instantly accelerates a light snowmobile to maximum speed. Acceleration above 100 km/h - without any problems. As for the quality of workmanship, I have not yet been able to find fault with the Finnish technology. Low gasoline consumption of 15 liters per hundred inspires confidence that the snowmobile will not stall somewhere in the wilderness, and I can always get out of the snowy forest. The range is excellent. I didn't regret spending a lot of money on the BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC snowmobile. For me it is really expensive, but friends recommended this particular model. I've been using it for two years.
- Nikita, Nizhny Novgorod. I've owned a lot of snowmobiles, and I like to study their technical properties and then compare them with the machines I've owned. My latest model is a limited edition BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-tEC with an uprated 160-horsepower engine, wishbone suspension and exclusive camouflage paint. Looks amazing. This machine has a slightly increased grip compared to the base model. Of course, with such an engine the car will quickly gain the desired speed. True, gasoline consumption increases to 25-30 liters (with an aggressive driving style). I've been using the car for the second season now and have had no problems with the engine. Among the disadvantages of the suspension, I will note the disadvantages of the lever scheme - such a suspension quickly becomes clogged, and as a result, cross-country ability worsens. Other unpleasant aspects are the large mass and high fuel consumption when overloaded. By the way, you can ride together and with a small load.
- Alexey, Ufa. I have been using the 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 snowmobile for a year and a half. The car is good in terms of handling, especially compared to its predecessor, which I had the opportunity to drive (from a friend). I will note the high geometric cross-country ability of the version with a lever suspension, but the handling with such a scheme is a little smeared, unlike a snowmobile with a telescopic suspension. But comfort is more important to me, especially since I have a family and children. I compared my snowmobile with several cars. For example, the difference in speed and quality compared to the 550 Scandic is colossal. Perhaps this Canadian has no analogues in Russia, and I don’t know who to compare him with. The only negative is the high price and expensive service. And I saved for it for a very long time.
- Semyon, Krasnoyarsk. BRP 69 Yeti Army Limited 800 E-TEC is a high-tech device compared to the Russian models that I had. There is no comparison with my former Buran. Of course, all the advantages are in favor of BRP, but it’s still somehow unusual. It took a long time to get used to the controls. The steering wheel is too heavy, I was actually surprised. I have the version with wishbone suspension. When accelerating sharply, problems arise with directional stability, and the steering wheel must be held very tightly. Well, at least such problems begin after 80 km/h. I praise the car for its indestructible comfortable suspension, a comfortable driver's seat, which can also be supplemented with a passenger seat, as well as a spacious trunk or even a trailer. There is an adjustable steering wheel. The car is tuned for a comfortable ride, and it is not at all sporty.

But Bigfoot has a friendly iron namesake - the hero of our test.
My acquaintance with Lynx Yeti took place five or six years ago. Then this car was a huge, uncontrollable “cast iron”: it only drove in a straight line. It must be said that it drove well thanks to the 1.3 liter engine, but not for long: both the beastly appetite and the terrible weight of the device made it rather stupid. And now, five years later, I look and can’t believe my eyes: the “Bigfoot” lost weight (from 347 to 279 kg), changed his face and lost a lot of weight. The engine is now an in-line four-stroke 600 cc 60-horsepower twin. When looking at the wide (exactly half a meter) track, I doubted the dynamic characteristics of the machine, but practice will tell. Ergonomics are top five, the information content of the tidy is also excellent. How many times have I said and will repeat: analog devices are better than digital ones, no matter how you look at them. Among the electronic gadgets, there is a pull-out pin with a built-in immobilizer, which increases the safety of the equipment - both during operation and in the garage. I really liked the performance of the transmission: switching modes occurs smoothly, clearly and without significant effort on the lever (here I can’t help but remember the “kind” word of the Yamaha FX-Nytro, for which every time the reverse was turned into torture). It seems that the snowmobile is tailored according to the “nothing extra” scheme, but on the other hand, there is a “lower” design, and a catchy design, and a wide track with wide skis, clearly aimed at “powder”.
Despite the temperature being thirty below zero, the starter easily started the engine to the cheerful rumbling of the fuel pump. While the engine was warming up, I walked around the snowmobile again. Well, I can’t call him a utilitarian! Well, how to brand an elegantly tailored car with a stamp of angularity? Later I became convinced: this is not a stupid working “cleaver”, but a machine that is pleasant and, most importantly, very easy to drive. Pulling off from low revs under tension, the snowball does not frighten the pilot with jerks and does not fly out from under the butt even with a sharp opening of the gas. Yeti's strength is smoothness and accuracy, even leisurely movements, thanks to which you absolutely do not get tired of the car. I want to go and go - albeit not with crazy acceleration under the “kopeck piece” (although the car gains a hundred square meters in virgin lands in no time), but for a long time and with comfort. The car handles just fine on any snow: the effort on the steering wheel is small, and the snowmobile changes course once or twice, not like the Yeti from five years ago, the nightmare of my snowmobile experience. The cross-country ability is absolute: with such a width of the track and skis, the car climbs through powder of any depth without digging or slipping. Although I happened to fall on my side in a turn (you can’t see all the ditches under a meter-long layer of snow dust) - I got off, stomped on the car, rocked it a couple of times, put it in a normal position, sat down and jumped out of the ditch like a stone from a sling. Typically, when the snowmobile was running on its side, the oil pressure lamp never came on - that’s what a “dry” sump means! And most importantly - no strain: when driving even on smooth snow, even in the forest or hills, despite the modest engine size, the Yeti cannot be accused of lack of traction. There is more than enough torque, the variator does not stall, quickly transferring all the traction from the engine to the wide track. A sharp and voracious two-stroke is not needed here; smoothness and efficiency are more important here. Ergonomics, wind protection - everything is excellent, the exhaust is barely audible, instrument readings can be read out of the corner of the eye. A 45-liter tank combined with a declared consumption of 8 liters per hundred means a range of more than 500 km! Here it is, the dream of rangers and hunters; on such a snowmobile you can really go in search of a real Yeti in the deepest tundra. Either alone or with a passenger, you go where you want, how you want and where you want, and most importantly, you don’t get tired at all.
But Yeti also has something that makes you wrinkle your nose with displeasure. Firstly, the price. Not every huntsman will allow himself to pay “half a lemon” for a snowmobile. Yes, it is excellent in all respects, but the price tag compared to competitors from Polaris and Yamaha is simply wrong. Secondly, the heating of the handles and the throttle trigger is rather weak; at -30 ºС it hardly warms up the snowmobile gloves; the fingertips become numb from the cold. This is where the list of shortcomings ends.
Gear ratios
For small sprocket:
-146-inch model: 23 teeth for sea level height, 21 teeth for higher height
-154 and 163 inch models: 21 teeth for sea level work, 19 teeth for higher altitudes
For a large sprocket:
-146 and 154 inch models: 49 teeth for both sea level and high altitude performance
-163-inch model: 51 teeth for working at any height.
The drive sprocket on all models and for both configurations (sea level and high altitude riding) uses an eight-tooth drive element.
The XM Summit X features forward-mounted handlebars and skis (compared to the XP), and side panels with cutouts for footwells. The foot wells themselves are deeper. All this makes the driving position more comfortable, and the snowmobile more obedient.
The S-36 suspension package complements the rMotion rear suspension perfectly, and the Pilot DS2 skis keep the snow firmly on the slope.
Ergonomics are well thought out. Thanks to the comfortable curved handlebar, the driver's hands and wrists are positioned naturally. Heating controls are located on the dashboard. Other controls on the handles, such as reverse and the emergency engine switch, are positioned to prevent accidental operation.
The XM Summit X comes with a feature-rich digital or analog instrument panel that faces up because most mountain snowmobile riders prefer to ride standing up. The instrument panel displays all important engine parameters and also shows the height. We liked this large scoreboard and easy to read numbers.
There is a glove compartment behind the dashboard. It's great to have somewhere to put a spare pair of gloves or glasses.
The seat is designed very well, the fabric has a pleasant texture. Nothing prevents you from throwing your legs from one footrest to another. In fact, the snowmobile can be controlled expertly if you keep both feet on the appropriate platforms. There is a small luggage compartment behind the seat, which is also very pleasing.
The painted tunnel prevents snow from freezing. Ice and snow do not accumulate in hard running boards because special holes are made in them. The tunnel supports Ski-Doo's LinQ mounting system, so you can easily attach a variety of additional panniers or bags.
Overall, the XM Summit X is a satisfying mountain sled. For 2015, Ski-Doo also offers sea-level versions of the Summit X. These are long, light and comfortable machines that can be driven for many kilometers in deep, untouched snow.
Based on our experience, we can confidently say that the steering wheel is as easy to control as a feather, and its best position is at the factory. If you drive along an already paved or simply hard-packed path, the nose of the snowmobile bounces and tries to move to the side, because the impacts are reflected into the steering wheel. It's not as bad as on previous years' XP Summit models, but it's still there and it's quite annoying.
The XM Summit X can sometimes get bogged down in light, fluffy snow, but that doesn't happen with the T3 Summit. But this can be minimized by staying close to the handlebars or adjusting the restraint straps to control weight distribution. Every mountain sled has its quirks, and that's what we found in the Summit X.
Finally, I would like to note that the XM Summit X is a very popular snowmobile, but it is perhaps overshadowed by the new T3. But this does not mean that it’s time to write off XM Summit X - it is still good and strong.
Modifications
Lynx Commander 800 R E-TEC is a relatively new snowmobile that has already received several modifications. Among them is the extreme version of the Commander 800 Xtrim RE TEC, which received a sports front suspension and an improved engine. The result was a faster vehicle. After some time, an equally interesting version of the snowmobile from this series was released. It is called LYNX Xtrim Commander 800 Touratech R E-TEC and stands out with its bright tuning from the German studio Touratech. Of course, the improvements affected not only the external, but also the technical part. As a result, it was possible to create a car with a reliable chassis and sporty settings, but without sacrificing comfort. In addition, the car received an adjustable rear suspension, and adjustments can be made directly from the steering column. The front suspension was left the same so as not to complicate the design.

Hard workers
In literally all characteristics, except perhaps power, Bravo can be put on a par with products from domestic manufacturers. The only striking difference between the “Japanese” and the “Nasheprom” products is the quality of workmanship and reliability. Even the very first argument of many supporters of domestic products: “But it breaks, so what to do? And “Buran” I can fix in any snowdrift ...” in this case does not work, because the design of the “bateshka” is perhaps even simpler than the same “Lynx” or “Buran”.
The lack of reverse in the transmission is somewhat surprising, but one glance at the figure of the curb weight of the device (and this is only 200 kg) removes the question: if something happens, you can turn it around with the handles. The rather narrow track of the skis and the primitive suspension make energetic driving almost impossible; the device strives to end up “upward with its fins” in any more or less steep turn and even catching a snow bump that seems insignificant at first glance. But even this shortcoming in the framework of a simple utilitarian approach should not be considered as such. If you want to "burn" - if you please, the device is three times more expensive.
Of course, Bravo is far from a record holder in terms of traction and dynamic characteristics. The declared maximum speed is only 70 km/h, and you can’t attach a sled with hundreds of kilograms of luggage - it won’t pull it out. But it’s difficult to find a more suitable car, say, for going fishing or patrolling ranger grounds.

The entire 2022 model line is very different from its predecessors—for the better. The updated versions are more comfortable, more durable and more productive than their predecessors.
Appearance
It's nice to see the results of the work of the company's designers, who keep up with the times. The design is modern with a touch of sporty style. The body of the equipment is covered with high-strength plastic, which can withstand various mechanical impacts. That is, in the most extreme conditions, the pilot can be confident in the safety of the hull if it falls on its side or even capsizes.
In front you can see two ski tracks widely spaced between each other. This placement allows you to best increase the stability of the snowmobile many times over. In the bow you can see a power bumper, which will take the blow in the event of a collision with an obstacle (stumps, bushes, logs and stones). The front headlight ensures driving in complete darkness, reliably illuminating the required area of the snowy road surface. The windshield will protect the driver from the effects of headwind and snow
In general, the snowmobile looks very harmonious and stylish, which is important
In the back there is a trunk for non-bulky items. To enable cargo transportation, a towing device is installed. The seat consists of a thick layer of padding that minimizes discomfort during long rides.
