Honda CBR1000F (CBR 1000 F) and its technical characteristics

Bike features

Here are the main features of the model:

  • greater reliability due to the use of time-tested technologies;
  • good dynamic performance;
  • comfortable seat that fits over the gas tank.

Wind protection on this motorcycle, although not the most developed, is available, like other good touring and sports touring bikes. After all, in the vast expanses the wind is not at all the same as in a metropolis or suburbs, and besides, the large, half-empty highway is conducive to fast driving.

Flaws

The release of its own liter after the presentation of competitors’ models brought direct benefits to the company. Having studied all the problems, the developers killed them in the bud. However, they made their own mistakes:

  • fragile frame;
  • expensive plastic that you don’t see in every store.

and dignity

The model is more suitable for riders who crave speed and adventure, but already have some experience riding a motorcycle.

At the same time, the model clearly has more advantages:

  • high ground clearance allows you not only to jump over speed bumps without noticing them, but also to fly onto the curb at speed without fear for the safety of the plastic;
  • weight - even in the wind, the bike goes in a given direction, only slightly deviating;
  • brand reliability;
  • acceleration dynamics;
  • power (if we are not talking about the version for the Japanese).

Dimensions and weight

The height of the bike reaches 1215 mm, its width is 740 mm, while the length is 2235 mm. As for the height of the saddle, it is 780 mm. Wheelbase dimensions – 1500 mm. The curb weight of 271 kg is fairly average for such models. A tank volume of 22 liters is quite sufficient with actual fuel consumption ranging from 7 to 12 liters per hundred kilometers.

Review of the Honda CBR 1000 F motorcycle

I want to say right away that this motorcycle is not for beginners, you need to get on it being prepared and having experience riding at least 600cc, and preferably 750, in order to have an idea that this is not a toy, I don’t take 400 into account, I compare it with 600 at least. Overall, gorgeous and worthy. I think that for the concept of a sport-tourist you don’t need a more powerful engine; the suspension and, again, the roads won’t cope anyway. Handling in its class is beyond praise. Please do not confuse with pure sport bikes. The landing is more suitable for the highway than for the city.

Over the course of 5 seasons, I only changed consumables (except for the chain and sprockets). I lubricate them with oil according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. A very good, reliable, high-torque engine in any case. Reliable soft gearbox. I travel mainly on long-distance routes. I have never (ugh ugh) let me down. Most importantly, a good battery have. Oil starts to come out after about 160 km.h. but within reasonable limits. You shouldn’t dry it out - then you’ll have to oil the starter for a long time until fuel is sucked into the carbs. Stupid supply system - due to the vacuum in the tank! But if forewarned, then forearmed! Because of this, there are problems with spring starting. Oil it and may you find it. ;-))) The engine chain is designed to rattle, but when it warms up moderately, it goes away. Colleagues on the shop floor changed the chain and tensioner, but a month later it’s the same bullshit again!!

I bought this bike (Honda) at the end of last 2008. In the fall, I didn’t really have time to ride, I went out a couple of times. This season I'm making up for lost time. The motorcycle is quite powerful, nevertheless controllable, not as angry as, for example, Fire. Quite heavy by today’s standards (steel frame, there’s no getting around that), but you can see the advantages in this - side winds are not scary, and the mass is a margin of safety. Gasoline consumption: approximately 10-12 liters in the combined cycle (city-highway), speedometer and odometer in miles. I accelerated to 200 km/h, it could be faster, the bike really moves. In short, completely positive. And one more thing: the design is very successful, an inexperienced person will not think that this is a device produced in 1994-1996. What can I not say about FG...

I rode the same one for 2 seasons - a motorcycle with a soul! I love him madly. Only now he eats more with me - in the city around 12 liters. but this is understandable - the carbs were never adjusted. On the highway, depending on the mode: in top gear with monotonous stable driving at 4000-4500 rpm (somewhere around 120 km/h) consumption drops to 4 liters!! Well, over a distance of 156 km, it turns out that it’s possible to use a full tank at 0, along with the reserve, and still push it to refuel, but it’s heavy….

But a reliable friend! I am ready to travel 6t.km without any preparation. at a time on different roads - including very rough ones... the only troubles - the speedometer cable was torn off on the wonderful roads of the Tyumen region and some of the bolts flew off along with the plastic, including those that attach the front caliper to the wing - but adhesive tape and electrical tape are always ready to help out! Otherwise the bike never let me down.

I'm driving a 1992 Siberian 1000f for the third season. I bought it from NBS in February 2008. from Japan. Average consumption is 7-8 liters per 100 km. Dry weight 225 kg. Equipped with about 250 kg. Power 132 hp

There are no objections to Drozd, it looks more modern and more powerful and generally more advanced, but there is one BUT: driving through the expanses of our Mother Russia with its roads (potholes, holes, joints, etc.), repairing Drozd’s suspension will become noticeably more expensive, so it costs take this into account. I'm happy with the motorcycle, for the money they ask for it, you become the owner of a fairly fast projectile (acceleration to 100 in 3-3.5 seconds) with the ability to devour space on roads with the M index. When riding with a passenger, side gusts of wind are not able to blow the bike away out of the way, he only lazily deviates in response, indicating to the pilot that it is not the wind that controls him, but you. According to the first, and even now it’s cool to meet stubborn motorists on the highways, ready to prove their superiority on the highway, they begin to “spend all their money” in order to outdo you, but this provokes me and I play along with them while sitting on their tail and I make it clear that he is in the lead, then I choose the moment (the bike accelerates dynamically even after 200 km/h) overtaking and looking in the rearview mirror I observe the rapidly decreasing silhouette of the car, at a speed of 240-250 the bike rides in a straight line, regularly transferring the quality of the surface to the pilot’s body, working out unevenness.

In the city, this specimen also behaves quite well; more than once it has made its way through kilometer-long traffic jams with a passenger. It’s hard, no doubt, you have to sweat sometimes, but no matter how light or heavy the motorcycle is, it is first and foremost a motorcycle and you can always ride it, especially after you get used to the motorcycle.

Everyone decides for himself what is more important to him - agility in the city or comfortable movement on the highway. I think that choosing a motorcycle based only on reading reviews on forums and magazines is not worth it (when I was choosing, there was nothing on the forums either, I had to be content with an article from a magazine), it would be better to try it yourself, fortunately, some salons offer this.

The CBR1000F is one hell of a bike. I sold it and cried. My 1992 copy was purchased in 2007 and covered about 30,000 km in 2 seasons. It's incredibly comfortable, I've ridden it up to 1500 km at a time. Until the 900 mark, everything was generally super. An indestructible engine in which the only weak point is the timing chain. Well, how weak it is - enough for 60 thousand. It also consumes 92 gasoline and does not choke. It steers great, brakes great, in the rain you drive almost dry (the plastic is made that way), the engine warms the eggs. At a speed of 160, you can safely ride in an upright position without fear of being blown off the motorcycle. Spare parts and consumables for Honda are cheaper and more common. The passenger is spacious and comfortable. A chic headlight with 2 H4 bulbs, no xenon needed, it shines like a spotlight.

Chassis and brakes

The frame of the CBR 1000 F is made of steel and is spatial in appearance. It looks quite bright and lively, although it pales in comparison to the flashiest representatives of the class. But here it must be said that the motorcycle is designed to impress with the reliability of its technology, and not with its newfangled design. This is evidenced by typical, unremarkable alloy wheels.

At the rear there is a pendulum suspension with a monoshock absorber, while at the front there is a 41 mm telescopic fork. The brakes at the rear are a 276 mm disc along with a three-piston caliper, and at the front there are a pair of 296 mm discs and three-piston calipers.

Cat in a poke

To change the situation for the motor show in Cologne (Germany), which was supposed to take place in the summer of 1976, the Japanese prepared a “pig in a poke.” And they presented 2 models at once. Honda CBR600F and Honda CBR1000F. The filling of both was almost identical.

Honda CBR600F.

Honda CBR1000F.

Inline 4, steel frame, liquid cooling, as well as a number of other new parts. The only difference was the engine size.

As it turned out later, the concern killed not 2 birds with one stone, but a whole flock:

  1. The model was designed as an export model , and therefore residents of other countries should not have problems with size (theoretically).
  2. For those who consider taxes and maintenance of a liter to be unaffordable costs, an identical model is offered that rolls the same way, but requires less money for maintenance .
  3. And finally, dual sport . The new bikes, although considered sports, were of the sport-touring type. The comfortable fit made it possible to use the bike on long-distance trips, and its nimbleness and maneuverability were ideal for urban conditions.

The 600-cc version lived on the assembly line until 2013, the liter version went down in history at the end of 1999.

Who is it suitable for?

In general, the “Fire” is considered the most suitable bike for civilian use, unlike many “liter” classmates.

The raised pegs of the first blade, as conceived by the developers, were supposed to provide the opportunity to purchase a motorcycle to a larger number of users. But in the end, high footpegs did not become more comfortable for tall riders (bending their knees more and stretching), and short ones preferred to choose a more comfortable version.

The new blade was corrected and the saddle fixed in height, as well as lower footpegs, created a certain comfort for motorcyclists of medium and tall height.
