Snowmobilers love powerful engines—and the new Rotax 900 ACE Turbo R four-stroke is designed to answer that love. The new engine is equipped with larger injectors (their performance), improved supercharging, optimized intake and exhaust tracts, which allows it to reach a peak power of 180 hp. Additionally, Ski Doo boasts that the new engine's sound is "reminiscent of a muscle car exhaust."
The news feed is full of reports about this engine, but this is not all the news that Ski Doo has brought this year. For the first time in the industry, the company has implemented semi-active snowmobile suspensions called Smart-Shox.
This system controls compression and rebound smoothing by receiving data every millisecond from five different sensors on the chassis and taking this into account along with engine parameters and road speed to adjust smoothing based on one of three on-the-fly riding modes, Ski Doo said. -Manually adjusting shock absorbers is a thing of the past, and automatic control of landing gear parameters for landings, breakdown prevention, anti-dive algorithms and special suspension parameters for efficient launches have finally become a reality.

Engine
The BRP Skido Scandic snowmobile is equipped with a Rotax 503 gasoline engine. Its equipment list includes an axial fan, a piston window, an air cooling system, as well as an electric starter and a manual starter. The fuel system is carburetor. The above components allow you to move without interruptions and overheating of the engine, which is effectively cooled and also starts almost instantly in frosty weather. If problems occur with the electric starter, you can use the manual starter.

It appeared back in 1916, when the very first patent was issued in the United States for the invention of a unique vehicle with skis in front and a caterpillar in the back. However, in those years the production of these miracle machines was never started. There are two two-stroke and two four-stroke engine options available for these models, and they receive absolutely no changes for 2022.

Features of operation
The vast majority of breakdowns and malfunctions occur due to the fault of the owner, for example, incorrectly selected spare parts when replacing faulty ones. Common ?disease? two-stroke engines? lack of oil in the fuel mixture. Often the owner forgets to check the presence of oil in the tank, and with the warning light not working, the engine is left without lubrication.
The enemy of the Ski-Doo engine is water, which penetrates into the oil tank if handled carelessly. Having settled to the bottom, it freezes in the oil line, blocking oil access to the carburetor and pump. This can be determined by the decrease in smoke in the exhaust: if the usual smoke is absent, then there is no lubrication of the engine and movement cannot be continued. To avoid such situations, you should take oil with you.
Improper maintenance of your Ski-Doo snowmobile leads to loss of elasticity of the crankshaft seals, causing air to enter the combustion chamber and combine with the fuel mixture. - Vladimir, Smolensk. The car was purchased four years ago. The used snowmobile BRP Skido Scandic 500 impressed me in terms of handling and load capacity. The car does not have decent dynamics, although it is capable of reaching 80 km/h. At high speeds the snowmobile is too noisy, so you have to slow down. The device is well assembled and does not creak at all. And there are no vibrations. Fuel consumption is no more than 12 liters per 100 km, which is quite good for such an engine. The car can accommodate up to two passengers along with the driver (two people in total). By the way, especially for two people there are heated backrests and handles, and the seat itself can be raised if necessary - thanks to this, the snowmobile can be operated not only while sitting, but also in a standing position. I don’t need anything else for fishing and hunting; this snowmobile is enough for me, nothing more. Driving pleasure is mediocre. I sat down, drove off, arrived and forgot. A reliable workhorse for every day.
- Yaroslav, Krasnoyarsk. BRP Skido Scandic 500 is perfectly adapted to heavy loads and operates stably at low temperatures. The engine starts almost immediately – thanks to the electric starter. By the way, the electric starter can sometimes act up in the cold, but its benefits are still quite significant. It will take a long time to start with a manual starter, but sooner or later the engine will start anyway. I think the developers did the right thing by installing two starters. Fuel consumption is no more than 10 liters, since I drive leisurely, and mostly only on smooth roads. I don’t want to risk going off-road, as reviews say the snowmobile has mediocre cross-country ability. Everything is fine with reliability, I hope it will continue to be so.

An old device from the well-known company BRP - I could not pass by such a thing, since I am closely interested in such transport. Fortunately, the snowmobile met all my expectations - both good and bad. Among the advantages, I note a comfortable seating position and a high-torque engine, allowing you to carry two passengers (including the driver), plus a small cargo. The disadvantages include a weak and fragile suspension, poor cross-country ability and mediocre directional stability. These shortcomings appear on uneven roads, in deep snowdrifts, etc. You can drive on compacted snow and on straight sections without problems. Ambiguous car, but still happy. Consumes 12 liters and supports 92 gasoline.

The car is impressive in many respects, and first of all it is easy to handle, which you don’t need to get used to. The high load capacity allows you to connect the sled together with cargo containers, and the environmentally friendly and powerful motor produces almost no vibrations, but is noticeably noisy at high speeds. I also liked the design of the car - the snowmobile looks fresh and original, and it is immediately recognizable as a famous Canadian brand. The greatest number of breakdowns occurs precisely in the chassis, which bears the maximum load. Some parts can be found on the secondary market, while others have to be ordered and waited for several weeks.
