The lightweight Patron Sport 150 motorcycle is positioned by the manufacturer as a sports bike, but it seems that Chinese designers didn’t even try very hard to give it the features of a racing vehicle. We are all, of course, already accustomed to the numerous Chinese “ sport motorcycles ” that have only a superficial resemblance to real sportbikes, and even that is superficial, but the Patron Sport 150, it seems, does not even outwardly try to seem like one. This is probably for the best - in most cases, attempts to copy the appearance of some Honda CBR 600RR or Yamaha YZF-R1 look at best simply unconvincing, and at worst - simply pathetic. However, the Patron Sport 150 does not look like a copy of any famous Japanese model. The bike may be unprepossessing, but it is, so to speak, on its own. Whether someone in particular likes him or not is another matter.
Technical characteristics of Patron Sport 150
The first thing that should alert you when buying a motorcycle that has the word “sport” in its name is the price . At the time of this writing, this bike costs on average just under a thousand dollars, which is both good and bad. It’s good because the price tag is more than affordable, but it’s bad because for that kind of money you can’t buy a real sportbike, even a small one. However, the Patron Sport 150 is de facto the most ordinary classic “ road bike ”, extremely simple and budget-friendly , and from “sport” it only has a name.
So, what do the Chinese offer us? The usual diagonal steel frame, in which a 1-cylinder, 2-valve 150 cc air-cooled engine , is extremely archaic, but, according to reviews, very reliable. It works with a carburetor , a classic 5-speed transmission and a chain wheel drive . Simple, budget-friendly, familiar, there’s simply nothing to add here. The Patron Sport 150 engine can produce 11.3 hp. (at 8500 rpm) and produce a torque of 10 Nm (at 6000 rpm) . It has neither lows nor highs, but in the main operating speed range it drives quite confidently, of course, taking into account its cubic capacity. In addition, the dry weight of the Patron Sport 150 does not exceed 115 kg , which also makes a positive contribution to the dynamics. The maximum speed of the Patron Sport 150, declared by the manufacturer, is 95 km/h . Everything is fair - it really accelerates to 95 km/h. True, already at about 70-80 km/h you will have to unscrew the throttle all the way, be patient and firmly withstand the vibrations that appear in abundance after about 6000-7000 rpm. There is no need to be afraid of speed in suitable conditions, since the motorcycle’s brakes are quite good, with brake discs and 2-piston calipers on both wheels.
Otherwise, the Patron Sport 150 motorcycle is also unremarkable. The suspension is simple, without any adjustments other than the pretension of the rear monoshock. An inverted telescopic fork is installed at the front, which, by the way, is surprising given the low cost of this model. But this is a nice feature; there really are no complaints about the performance of the fork. The only criticism concerns the fork oil filled from the factory; it seems too soft. Apparently, it is designed for the weight of the average Chinese driver, and under the tall Russian motorcyclist the Patron Sport 150 immediately sags noticeably. This problem can be resolved easily and simply, just pour harder oil into the fork, and in extreme cases, install other springs; fortunately, tuning is available in bulk on the Patron Sport 150, and it is inexpensive.
Pros and cons of Patron Sport 150
Advantages
- Affordable price . The bike is cheap, the price of spare parts and consumables is also not bad.
- Good brakes . Considering the lack of explosive dynamics and the low weight of the motorcycle, they are really enough to feel confident behind the wheel.
- Good handling . The Cartridge Sport 150 is capable of turning around in a two-meter space, and it’s easy to dart between cars in city traffic. It can easily outpace even liter sportbikes in traffic jams thanks to its nimbleness and compactness.
- Modest fuel consumption , not exceeding 2.5-3 liters per 100 km . In addition, the motorcycle seems to be able to run on any gasoline at all - its simple but reliable carburetor will digest whatever you pour into the gas tank.
- Efficient headlight . It shines much better than one would expect from a budget Chinese small-capacity camera.
Flaws
- Sluggish acceleration dynamics . Alas, this cannot be taken away - the bike accelerates extremely slowly.
- Inconvenient standard mirrors . Judging by the reviews, most Patron Sport 150 owners see them mainly as their own shoulders. Luckily, you can buy new ones anywhere.
- A large number of annoying parasitic vibrations . At high speeds, you generally get the impression that the entire Patron Sport 150 vibrates.
- Low quality components . While the main components of the motorcycle do not cause any complaints, there are many annoying little things, such as low-quality small parts. Not critical, of course, but still.

Reviews from Patron Sport 150 owners
Everything would be fine if this, so to speak, motorcycle was moving at all. The dynamics are like that of a turtle, the engine is screaming, the tachometer is spinning, and the acceleration is slow, slow. The vibrations are really bad, they really bother you, and you have to turn the motor in order for it to move at least somehow, and when you turn it, vibrations appear. The seats feel like a piece of plastic covered with young dermantine leather. In general, one complete disappointment. Artyom, Saratov, Patron Sport 150 '2016.
I skated the season, sold it, and drew conclusions. The moped is worth the money, but it’s better to save up and get something better. Everything is ok in general, but minor breakdowns once a week do not add to the joy of owning this miracle of the Chinese motorcycle industry. Yuri, Tyumen, Patron Sport 150 '2018.
For the money, it’s a very, very worthy motorcycle, with wind protection, a large tank and durable suspensions. Immediately after purchase, it is highly advisable to check everything that can be checked; there is no trust in the Chinese assembly, but the moped is really problem-free. Traffic police officers, by the way, usually think that this is a moped, and therefore they almost never slow down, generally zero attention. The only downsides are the original tires and the nasty exhaust sound, especially when you give it gas, but in all other respects it’s a very good bike. Yaroslav, Novorossiysk, Patron Sport 150 '2017.

test drive patron Clever 50
Externally, the Clever 50 looks very attractive, as evidenced by its modern design, bright colors, beautiful wheels and muffler. There are original optics installed in front, mirrors on the sides, two horizontal headlights with two modes, low and high, and on the steering wheel there is a side signal and an informative instrument panel, including a speedometer, tachometer, gas tank sensor and turn signals. Despite the fact that the scooter is small in size, it has a fairly comfortable double seat, on which even a tall adult can easily sit. There is a trunk at the back and a glove compartment under the seat. Patron Clever 50 is a Chinese-made scooter, but despite this, it has a fairly rich set of equipment, which includes an alarm system and electric start from a key fob - a very convenient and necessary thing. However, Clever 50 can also be started with an electric starter or kickstarter. The engine is a 50cc, 4-stroke, forced air-cooled engine that develops 3.5 hp. It starts with half a turn, warms up quickly and runs barely audible. All you have to do is put on a motorcycle helmet and go! To be honest, this was my first time behind the wheel of a scooter, and I must say that I really enjoyed riding it. Clever 50 weighs little, both an adult and a child can easily operate it - everything is easy and simple. But as for speed, here Patron can be given a “5 plus”. Out of 50 cubes, I managed to squeeze 80 km/h in one place (slightly downhill) and put the speedometer needle down! It rides at this speed no worse than a motorcycle, and acceleration from a standstill is not bad for 3.5 hp. I also really liked the suspension. The average speed of the scooter is 50 km/h, uphill - about 40, in a straight line - all 70. Control is very easy, you don’t even have to turn the steering wheel, but maneuver your body on easy turns. The brakes on the Clever 50 are good, disc in the front, drum in the rear, and it seemed to me that the front one worked more efficiently; I pressed it lightly and the scooter stopped. True, if you brake only with the front brake, you can easily roll over. In general, after half a day of riding a scooter, I was not at all tired and got a lot of positive emotions. Despite the fact that there is still a lot of dirt on the roads, I did not get dirty, thanks to a well-thought-out protection of legs and arms. And the gasoline consumption was minimal, consumption is about 2 liters per 100 km. And the fuel tank capacity is five and a half liters, so the range is enough for more than 200 kilometers. To summarize, I would like to note that the scooter is a very convenient vehicle. You can easily and naturally move around in city traffic, easily maneuvering, and quickly , without traffic jams, get to the right place and at the right time. Engine type 4-stroke single cylinder
