Purchase history and my sad impressions of the LS2 FF325 modular helmet, as well as a short review of the LS2 FF351 and IXS HX1000 helmet. I ask in advance not to throw slippers, do not shout “China is guano”, “What did you want” and the like. The justified choice of this particular model will be described below. In general, I’ll start from the distant beginning - with my first helmet. By the way, also from LS2, model FF351, bought back in 2013 in Minsk, in a motorcycle store “I don’t remember what it was called”)) It was an integral helmet, a simple model, without glasses, without a pinlock (although I didn’t know such words then) . I was hooked by the coloring, as I call him “Wolverine”, there are beautiful claws on the back, and the red color is my favorite)))

I wore this helmet as a passenger for 4 seasons, on long-distance trips and not so much. I was quite pleased with him, if not for the lack of black glasses. But over time, the helmet began to leak in the rain in the area where the visor was attached, it turned out that water was flowing over the ears, and this is no fun on the road) And if for the first 2 seasons I rode around Belarus and didn’t experience much rain, then having moved to a rainy Tver, at the end of season 4, I realized that I urgently need a new helmet, otherwise I don’t have to wash my hair, it still gets wet even with a helmet ((In addition to all this, I wanted a modular helmet, because it’s very convenient in my opinion. Then, at the end of season 4, I tried out a friend’s helmet, IXS HX1000, also an integral, but with glasses. In the photo, both helmets are the old LS2 and IXS.

I was just terribly disappointed! It seemed to me that my Chinese guy was not lying around, but it turned out to be the opposite! To begin with, I dropped my Chinese one several times and it was intact, only the paint was peeled off here and there, and an IXS friend dropped it and cracked the visor in the area of the mount and broke the mount itself ((The visor was blasphemously sealed with tape, because there was a crack in the view did not interfere. But this happened already in the middle of the 2nd season of operation, which made me think... Well, when we exchanged helmets on the road to evaluate the “wonderfulness”, I was completely shocked! It turned out that the visor spontaneously rises from the wind, closes loosely and It turns out that there is such a gap of 1-2 cm, into which it begins to mercilessly seep through! And since I wear lenses and I can’t let my eyes dry out - it’s just terrible ((It seems that according to a friend, this kind of bullshit doesn’t happen to him, because... because the flow on the contrary presses the visor, but as a passenger it was not very pleasant for me to ride, I had to hold the visor with my hand so as not to open ((In the photo you can even see this gap, the visor opens itself even when the helmet is upside down.

We somehow got along the highway, and when we entered the city, I decided to open the visor completely, but pull out the glasses so that at least I could see where we were going and not hold it with my hand. So it started to show through around the edges of the glasses! What is this! The plus to all this happiness was that my head was shaking wildly already at a speed of 100 km/h and the helmet after 80 km/h began to make a disgusting noise... At the same time, according to a friend, my old LS2 made less noise, and more bassy, not annoying, my head didn’t shake, the visor, of course, didn’t open on its own, and in general it turned out that my pilot was terribly pleased)) By the way, the sizes of our helmets are the same, so we can’t blame a discrepancy in size. Having made certain conclusions, I began to look closely at modulars from various companies, winter had just arrived, motor toxicosis, everything)) It turned out that the modulars do not have much variety in colors, mostly black, white, gray. And that's all ((Since I definitely wouldn’t buy a helmet on the Internet without trying it on, I was looking for real stores where I could try it on. Accordingly, I looked for stores in Moscow so that there would be more choice, since in Tver there is not a single modular size S they didn’t offer me(( In general, the SportEX shopping center was found (don’t take it as an advertisement), where I saw a lot of motorcycle stores and it was decided to go there with the confidence that I would definitely find something. We arrived and I began to choose... Of all stores offered me a total of 10 models, no more, rather even less (either the size is not there, or the color does not suit (I chose white so that it would be at least a little brighter, since somehow there are no colored ones). I will say right away - I terrible picky)) Therefore, I immediately dismissed IXS - I didn’t want to take risks. The HJC helmets didn’t fit because of the inconvenient lever for opening the black glasses - it’s located on top of the top of the head, it’s simply unacceptable for me, it was only needed on the side. The saleswoman tried to assure me that I I won’t open it on the road, they say they stopped, opened it and drove on. But somehow I can hardly imagine this))) On the contrary, on the road it will be necessary, suddenly the sun suddenly comes out)) Airoh had only one suitable model, but it turned out that even after trying it on after 5 minutes it pressed on the forehead (( I didn’t want to take the Chinese XTR or MTR (I don’t remember exactly), I heard unflattering reviews about it, and in the end they didn’t have my size. AGV and some other one put pressure on the jaw to the point of pain, so it didn’t fit either (On Shoei and Schuberth, unfortunately, there was no finances... Shark didn’t fit the size, I needed XS, although now I understand that it would probably be better if I ordered it a size smaller through the Internet... My huge stupidity was that we didn’t go to Bike Land, where I could change the Lazer, because they were not in any store in SportEX ((well, since there is no opportunity to ride every weekend to Moscow, I had to choose from what was available... And it turned out to be LS2. And two other models from the same company did not fit either, and this infection FF325 sat like a native (at that time). I tortured the seller, twisted and tried this helmet for about 40 minutes, in the end they began to offer me cognac)))) Etc. . There was no pressure anywhere, everything opened normally, the color was white, the glasses lever was on the bottom left, just like I wanted, I decided to buy it.

The fun began after the very first trip (It turned out that the helmet was already whistling at 40 km/h! And it was disgusting, so thin (I found the reason experimentally - the design of the air intake at the bottom - when closed there are 2 sticking out crap, in which the air begins to whistle, apparently swirling in an incomprehensible way, when open it doesn’t whistle, it’s already good...

But! At speeds above 80 km/h the helmet makes a terrible noise! The sound is as if a plane is landing next to me ((I have something to compare with, because transport workers land above our house every day))) I got used to it with grief, although after long trips my head is cast iron ((And, it seems, everything this only applies to the passenger, because there is a suspicion that the pilot will be fine and there will be no noise. So far, my friend and I haven’t changed helmets (I can’t stand another trip in his IXS), but we conducted some kind of experiment, what can we do? still not great)) At a speed above 120, he leaned over and pressed himself against the tank, and I remained sitting upright, imitating a pilot, so that the air flow was immediately towards me, and the noise disappeared! Well, not completely, but at least the plane stopped landing over your ear)) You don’t need to talk too much about the fact that the visor sweats, because... he sweats wildly even in the heat, the old helmet didn’t sweat like that. Salvation in the form of Sharkov's pinlock was found before the trip to Brest, because... I realized that I wouldn’t see anything, leaving early in the morning in the cold. The head shakes in this helmet - another minus. Again, I don’t know what it will be like for the pilot, maybe it will be ok, but no one shook my old helmet. The next surprise was that after an hour and a half the helmet begins to put pressure on the jaw and ears (To the point of redness, to pain, to the point of the jaw (((Opening the bottom of the helmet helps a little, but personally I won’t go that far, it’s convenient for me to go open Only in the city, on the highway I feel uncomfortable. I console myself with the fact that maybe the helmet will fit or my ears will adjust, but... Half the season has passed, and things are still there ((And now what has finally finished me off is this helmet, an infection, leaks in the rain !!! Of course it doesn’t pour on the ears, but the visor floods on both sides, water gets inside perfectly, the pinlock gets wet and sweats(((They say I bought a new helmet so that it doesn’t get wet(((My disappointment knows no bounds(In the photo I’m still pretty I smile, not knowing what awaits me)))

The most annoying thing is that I couldn’t identify all these shortcomings in the store... The price is also not 3 rubles, so it wouldn’t be a pity. Yes, I realized that this was China, but my old helmet actually behaved better after 4 years! And at that moment there wasn’t really a choice. Now it seems that you can only save up for Shoei, because... I really don’t know what to choose from anymore. Well, we still have to try the Lazer, although a friend complained about it too. In general, from personal impressions I can conclude that this helmet is for driving around the city, in dry weather, and only for the pilot, and not for the passenger. Perhaps someone thinks differently, maybe someone was luckier than me))

Warm, warmer, hot: review of the LS2 FF325 Strobe Electric Snow Civik helmet

The calendar winter is over, but real spring is still far away, and it’s hard to think of a better time to prepare the sled for the next winter. Therefore, let's talk about a helmet that can make any winter trip, be it a snowbike, snowmobile, ATV or motorcycle, not only safe, but also comfortable.

We tested one of the best representatives of its class - the LS2 FF325 Strobe Snow Civik helmet. Why him? Firstly, the helmet ideally meets all the requirements imposed by our harsh climate, and secondly, it has a relatively affordable price tag, kept by Bike Land at the level of regular, “summer” helmets. Thirdly, LS2 is a decent brand that has proven itself well over many years of presence on the Russian market.

We had the opportunity to test the helmet both in the conditions of the “abnormal” Moscow winter and in the vast expanses of Lake Baikal

What exactly should be in a winter helmet? The first, and actually the main attribute is a heated visor. Of course, there are winter helmets without glass heating, however, for real frosts, electric heating is a necessity, and it is difficult to live without it. And the LS2 FF325 “Electric” version has it. The implementation is traditional for this design: a pair of heating elements in the upper and lower parts of the lens, a connector with a rather tight but reliable latch and a green diode, the inclusion of which indicates that the system is working properly, and a long wire, one end of which is plugged into the visor connector, and the other - connecting to the battery.

The heated visor is made using familiar and time-tested technology and prevents the glass from fogging up in cold weather.

The visor itself is slightly tinted: such “smoky” glass not only does not interfere with keeping an eye on the road at dusk, but also makes life easier during the day, helping to distinguish the relief on the white, sunlit snow. And if the sun shines directly into your eyes, built-in traditional dark glasses will come to the rescue, the extension mechanism of which is located at the bottom of the helmet and is easily accessible to the hand, even when wearing a thick winter glove.

All helmet fittings are made to last - the latches and switches easily survived shock winter adventures

But with ventilation, everything is not so smooth - the channels themselves are located traditionally, and the front one is also quite developed, however, in winter gloves, and it is in them that you will most likely have to open and close them, it is not very convenient to use them. However, the ventilation of the helmet itself is well thought out, so you can put up with this drawback.

The only drawback of the helmet ventilation is the switches, which are not very convenient to operate with gloves.

In addition to the channels designed, if necessary, to improve airflow to the head, the ventilation system also includes a special breathing mask that is fixed on the jaw. It looks simple and is shaped like a doctor’s mask. The cut-off material in the area of the bridge of the nose allows the mask to be adjusted directly to the shape of the wearer's nose. It is necessary in order to maximally protect the inner surface of the visor from the hot and humid air exhaled by the pilot.

In the depths of the rising visor there is a breath-cutting mask

In itself, it is convenient and practically does not interfere when putting on a helmet, however, it is worth considering that the LS2 FF325 is a modular and its “jaw” rises. There are no questions about the mechanism itself - the locking mechanism key is of sufficient size and is located well, the chin is securely fixed in both the upper and lower positions, but I am not always able to close it so that the mask sits evenly on the nose. Features of my physiology or its design? I have not yet been able to answer this question.
