Racer Ranger 200 - interesting idea, dubious execution


The Chinese have long been able to make not only inexpensive, but also quite reliable motorcycles, such as the Racer 250 Enduro. This off-road bike, already shod with toothy tires from the factory, seems to hint with its entire appearance that it is not afraid of snow, mud, or other difficulties. Angular, brutal and ascetic, the Racer Enduro RC250XZR, however, is able to cope with almost any challenge that its owner can throw at it. Of course it is budget amateur bike, and it is unsuitable for motocross and ski jumping, but it can give a lot of adrenaline. Moreover, in the case of the Racer 250 Enduro, the Chinese even deviated from their credo of “saving on everything” and built a really good motorcycle that combines an affordable price and reliability.

Introduction

Eachine - over the entire period of its existence in the unmanned market, has offered the consumer a huge number of drones, some of which the company can be truly proud of, but some of which it is better not to remember. Eachine Racer 250 is one of the first drones built on B/C motors, which at one time received recognition from both experts and amateurs. And who would have thought that after almost two years the manufacturer would again return to the popular model, where, after significant modifications, the drone would again be ready to surprise its fans. We are glad to present you an old, but at the same time completely new drone - Eachine Racer 250 Pro.

The materials of execution remained unchanged, almost all the electronic filling was modernized, and the drone also received a more symmetrical X-shaped frame.

Flaws

The motorcycle is characterized by shortcomings typical of budget category motorcycles.

When talking about disadvantages, three disadvantages are most often mentioned:

  • Dye . A thin layer of paint leads to scuffs after the first motorcycle season. If you drive carelessly, scratches and chips are possible - prerequisites for corrosion, since most of the parts are made of metal.
  • Chain . There are no complaints about the transmission as a whole, but the chain needs to be checked often. With active skating, it stretches after just one season.
  • Build quality . Like any Chinese bike, it is recommended that immediately after purchase you check the presence of all bolts and tighten all fastenings.

Overall, the motorcycle is worth the money they ask for it.

The model has more advantages:

  • Price . The cost of a new motorcycle is comparable to the cost of a used Japanese one. What to take - guaranteed, but Chinese, or used, but Japanese, everyone decides for himself.
  • Guarantee . It even includes breakdowns that are obviously not covered by warranty.
  • Friendliness . Controllability, maneuverability, error correction will be of interest to those who are just discovering motor vehicles.
  • Power reserve . Not every bike can boast of reaching 400–500 km on one fill-up .

Driving characteristics, fuel consumption

The maximum speed, according to users, depends on the load and mood. For one it can be 90 km/h and 110 km/h. For trips in number two - 90–95 km/h. But a normal comfortable cruiser is 70–90 km/h.

Fuel consumption under normal operating conditions does not exceed 3 liters per 100 km .

Eachine Racer 250 Pro, unlike its predecessor, is equipped with more powerful 2205 motors with a power of 2300KV. Visually, the “Pro” motors are very similar to the Eachine Racer 180 motors. Despite the ER250 Pro’s weight of 473 grams, they provide impressive dynamics that everyone will note without exaggeration.

Camera

Racer 250 Pro is equipped with a classic 1000TVL CCD FPV camera that works with both NTSC and PAL systems (default). On Pro it now has a variable tilt angle of up to 25°. It has proven itself in practice even when flying at night.

The fact that the camera has a variable angle is very good, but now when you move it to the uppermost position, part of the front panel of the drone gets into the frame. We will have to “collective farm” to get rid of such a minus.

CCD sensor (Charged Coupled Device) - converts pixel charges into an analog signal. Such cameras have a lower noise level and high sensitivity and can easily cope with interference, which as a result significantly affects the quality of the image.

Pros and cons of Racer Ranger 200

Advantages

  • Confident traction at the bottom. This helps a lot off-road.
  • The quality of the plastic body kit. Durable and flexible enough, it is not afraid of light falls.
  • Comfortable fit. The creators of the Racer Ranger 200 motorcycle generally thought out the ergonomics well, and even with a height of just over 180 cm, it is very comfortable to sit on it.
  • Dashboard. Multifunctional and practical, it provides all the necessary information. Even the fuel level sensor doesn’t lie, but many Chinese bikes are guilty of this.
  • Seats. They are spacious and soft enough for both driver and passenger.
  • Vibrations. More precisely, their absence, which is rare for 1-cylinder engines.

Flaws

  • Protection from dirt. More precisely, its absence - from under the front wheel water flies onto both the driver and the passenger. Installing “collective farm” mudguards partly corrects the situation, but only partly.
  • Quality of bolts. They not only rust, but are also easily damaged by a tool when trying to unscrew or tighten them.
  • Noisy engine. This is probably just a design feature, but it really does generate a lot of sounds during operation.
  • Fluids filled at the factory. Immediately after purchase, it is highly recommended to change them all, including the brake fluid and fork oil.
  • Plays in the suspension. They are there, they are significant, and when driving over rough terrain something is constantly knocking and rattling.
  • Lack of PTS. By law, the Racer Ranger 200 is sports equipment and cannot be driven on public roads.

Control

The RTF package with Eachine Racer 250 Pro includes classic 6-channel FlySky i6 equipment made under the Eachine brand. It runs on the fault-tolerant AFHDS-2A protocol, which in itself is good news. Allows you to easily move to a distance of more than 400 meters.

It is worth noting that the quad reaches the owner with an expired version of the CleanFlight firmware (1.13). As a result, the latest CF configurator firmware cannot even open the settings. In this case, it is highly recommended to install Betaflight. With it, the drone behaves much better, it is more stable, the flight is smooth without vibrations.

Similar models

  • Lifan LF200 GY-5. Cheap, proven over the years of production and tens of thousands of copies that travel with might and main on the roads of Russia and other countries.
  • Motoland GS 250 . An inexpensive bike from a manufacturer that is not the most famous in the Russian Federation.
  • XMoto Raptor 200 . In terms of price, characteristics and other parameters, it is generally similar to the Ranger.

Total

This is a case where a good idea is ruined by careless execution. If not for numerous design flaws and careless assembly, the Racer Ranger RC200 GY8 could have won much more sympathy than it actually did. And, really, it’s even a pity that it happened this way, because this motorcycle is really interesting. If you bring it to perfection, it can serve faithfully for many years, especially since it is not difficult to select components for the Racer Ranger from other bikes made in China. So if you are not afraid to get your hands dirty sometimes, and the budget for purchasing a motorcycle is small, you can still pay attention to this model.
