1400GTR (CONCOURS 14)
- motorcycle model, Kawasaki brand,
The Kawasaki 1400 GTR sports touring motorcycle model began its production in 2007 (before it, the Kawasaki GTR 1000 model was produced). The Kawasaki ZX-14 (ZZR1400) hyperbike platform was taken as the basis, combined with advanced technologies used in modern flagship sports tourers. On the US market, this model was called Kawasaki Concours 14.
The Kawasaki 1400 GTR features an inline 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 160 hp. (with inertial supercharging) and 136 Nm of torque. The motor is tuned for traction in low and medium operating ranges, and has a variable timing system (from Mitsubishi Motors). Maximum engine performance is achieved at 6000-9000 rpm.
Another important feature of the motorcycle is the Tetra-Lever multi-link rear suspension, much like BMW (Paralever) and Moto Guzzi (CARC). When braking and driving over uneven surfaces, the rear of the motorcycle does not rise, but remains under load all the time, which has a positive effect on handling.
Among other things, the model is equipped with the KIPASS (Intelligent Proximity Activation Start System) system, which means access to starting the motorcycle without a key. The essence of the system is that the ignition key is always inserted into the lock, but it can only be turned if the owner of the motorcycle is standing nearby.
Other features of the Kawasaki 1400 GTR include a slipper clutch, electrically adjustable windshield, integrated saddlebags, tire pressure monitoring system, combined braking system (with ABS), aluminum frame, fully adjustable sports suspension, traction control (KTRC), heating steering handles and cardan drive.
Model history
2007 - official start of production and sales of the Kawasaki 1400 GTR model.
2010 - The Kawasaki 1400 GTR motorcycle underwent a major update - engine traction control (KTRC), combined braking system (with ABS), new bodywork (which improved engine cooling), new mirrors (40 mm higher), adjustable windshield glass with a memory function, a fuel saving system (it controlled the ratio of gasoline and air at low revs and speeds) and heated grips. Top speed was limited to 247 km/h.
2011-2014 – only the color schemes of the motorcycle and its individual elements changed.
2015 - The motorcycle undergoes minor changes regarding gearbox ratios, upgraded steering (to improve stability at low speeds), increased rear suspension stiffness, added windshield opening adjustment, reprogramming of the ABS unit and a number of minor cosmetic changes - silver instrument bezels panels, extended heat shields on the exhaust pipes, changing the color of the warning lamp from red to yellow, changing the shape of the seat, adding a new color Candy Lime Green, etc.

Features of the GTR 1400
The bike has many distinctive features.
- Changed timing phases, which gives improved traction from the very bottom.
- The supercharging system allows you to develop power up to 160 mares.
- Keyless start - there is still a key in the ignition, but you can’t turn it without a special card issued to the owner.
- The lever suspension at the rear allows the bike not to bounce on bumps, but to remain in contact with the road no matter what the owner does.
(you can’t do a stoppie). Thanks to its sporting roots, the GTR 1400 is equally well suited for fast driving on straight roads as well as for long climbs along serpentine mountain roads. Its chassis is not designed only for complete off-road use.
There are also purely tourist gadgets:
- heated handles;
- windshield height adjustment (both manually and electrically)
- tire pressure monitoring;
- large fuel tank (22 l);
- good weight distribution;
- low center of gravity.
But they also note good handling and excellent brakes.

Kawasaki ZZR 1400
probably needs no introduction. This motorcycle is the embodiment of Kawasaki's monstrous power and cutting-edge technology, and it has no equal on the road. It was he who competed with the famous Suzuki Hayabusa for the title of the most powerful and fastest sports tourer in the world. And guess what? He still won. The first generation Kawasaki ZZR 1400 boasted a 190-horsepower engine, but the restyled and modified Hayabusa was able to produce 4 hp more. more. Then, in 2012, the modified Kawasaki ZZR 1400 was released. 210 horsepower, new fuel maps, aerodynamics brought to the ideal. All this returned the eldest of the “Zizers” the palm and the title of the most powerful sports tourist of all time. Kawasaki ZZR 1400 Built on the experience of developing the Kawasaki ZZR 1200, Kawasaki's top-end sport tourer boasts a 1,441 cc liquid-cooled inline-four, fuel injection, electronic engine management and various riding modes, depending on the selected fuel map. In addition, the 210-horsepower Kawasaki ZZR 1400 is also, according to information from the manufacturer, more economical than its 190-horsepower brother from the first generation.
Kawasaki's flagship incorporates all the latest achievements of the Japanese motorcycle industry. A powerful, unparalleled engine, a well-functioning 6-speed transmission, devoid of the traditional Zizer problems inherent in all previous motorcycles in the line, from the Kawasaki ZZR 400 to the aforementioned ZZR 1200, an economical fuel injection, a slipper clutch - all this makes this bike a real king of the road . An alloy frame and adjustable suspensions complete the picture, and, by the way, it is thanks to the aluminum frame that the Kawasaki ZZR 1400 weighs only about 260 kg. Despite excellent maneuverability and not the largest weight for such a powerful motorcycle, the ZZR 1400 is cramped in the city. Its element is the highway, and not cramped city streets, although even there the bike can easily get through a traffic jam, you just need to work very carefully with the throttle - at very low speeds the motorcycle has a rather twitchy character, despite the modern and technological control over the operation of the engine . Kawasaki ZR14 But as soon as you get out on the highway, you realize that here it is, perhaps the best motorcycle in its class, capable of not only comfortably rushing you to the ends of the world, but also able to overtake even a Ferrari without much strain on itself. And yes, we mentioned comfort for a reason - the Kawasaki ZZR 1400 is ideally protected from wind and oncoming moisture. In addition, the developers tested the motorcycle in a wind tunnel, and the result of the tests was the clever shape of its plastic body kit. This allows for ideal aerodynamics and turns the ZZR 1400 into a maddening bullet, cutting through the air at incredible speeds without depriving its rider of complete control.
The model turned out to be successful, and for good reason. In a modified form, its engine migrated to another sport-tourist - Kawasaki Concours 14, losing its agility, but receiving in return locomotive traction and unsurpassed smoothness. And the Kawasaki ZZR 1400... Yes, this is definitely a motorcycle close to ideal, but due to its characteristics, only experienced motorcyclists should ride it.
Dimensions and weight
The curb weight of the motorcycle is 313 kilograms. To some this may seem like too much weight, but don’t forget that this is a sports touring bike, and large dimensions are not just normal for it, it’s necessary.
The length of the motorcycle reaches 2230 millimeters. This is quite enough for two people to sit comfortably on the motorcycle. For sports bikes, the length seems too long. But if you look at giant cruisers, the length of the Concourse 14 looks very average.
Including bags, the width of the motorcycle will be 1000.76 millimeters. But this is a completely acceptable value. The motorcycle will be very stable on the road, although this will somewhat affect maneuverability. Either way, bags make traveling very convenient.
The motorcycle is quite tall: it reaches 1343.66 millimeters in height, which is quite a lot. Its height at the saddle is 815.34. All this makes the bike comfortable for people above average height. The wheelbase dimensions are 1518.92 millimeters.
As befits a touring motorcycle, the Concourse 14 has a significant fuel tank capacity. It is 22 liters, which is enough to travel several hundred kilometers without refueling. This is especially important in wilderness conditions, where only the highway remains from civilization.
Specifications
The motorcycle has excellent parameters that make it balanced, fast, reliable and easy to control. This model perfectly combines:
- powerful engine;
- stylish design;
- reliable transmission;
- good brakes;
- effective management.
Each of these parameters is worth examining in more detail. The characteristics of the motorcycle are among the most advanced in the world.
Price
The price for a Kawasaki 1400 GTR with mileage in the Russian Federation starts from 500,000 rubles.
Kawasaki 1400GTR
– a very functional and, as never before, safe “sport-touring” motorcycle, which sets new standards, reducing distances between continents. The 1400GTR is powered by a motor based on the ZZR1400 engine. Here it is tuned to produce more torque at low and mid-range speeds. The KIPASS (Kawasaki Intelligent Proximity Activation Start System) remote activation system allows you to remotely activate the motorcycle's ignition.
The Kawasaki 1400GTR is equipped with KTRC, which is Kawasaki's first traction control system. It guarantees maximum rear tire grip, even in the most difficult situations. The system works smoothly and unnoticeably. The driver can turn the fuel economy mode on and off. When this mode is engaged, the control unit initiates a more efficient fuel scheme that prioritizes fuel economy by reducing the 1400GTR's throttle response. (The ignition and fuel injection systems operate with maximum fuel economy). There is also another modification of this model, called the 1400GTR Grand Tourer, which features an additional 47 liter top case, a GPS navigator stand, a protective film for the panniers and a protective film for the tank.
