Since then, a variety of Japanese scooters and models from other manufacturers have appeared that combine both functions, but this one has become iconic in history.

Two options

You should definitely pay attention to the fact that the Yamaha T-Max 500 maxiscooter is available in two versions - regular and special. What is the difference between them? In fact, the difference is quite small and barely perceptible, but it is still there. Manufacturers have designated a special version intended for long trips - in other words, a tourist version. This touring modification has some differences, such as a less massive fairing, modified optics, a more impressive windshield, as well as additional suspension tuning to make your ride more comfortable on the road. Thus, you can independently tune the Yamaha T-Max 500 without needing any additional funds. But if you wish, you can get an ordinary model and tune it yourself, which will be discussed later.

The season was coming to its logical end. The days were getting shorter and shorter, the sun and clear skies appeared less and less often, and the rains were falling more and more often, motorcyclists were warming up. And so, I’m sitting all thoughtful and thinking - we need to close the season somehow in a special way, to put a final end, so to speak. But here’s the catch: all the motorcycles have already been ridden, licked and photographed. So to come up with something like this? Sluggishly and without much hope, I decided to look at the lists of what was available in the press parks. Everything interesting there seems to have already been tested, but suddenly something interesting will be found. And, suddenly, Yamaha discovered the T-Max, but this is not really a motorcycle, but an oversized scooter. Well, he’s an excellent candidate for the role of something like that! In the end, it seems that quite sane people drive these, so to speak, vehicles. And they not only drive, but also enjoy it.

It just so happened that in my head “scooters”, regardless of size, were located somewhere between a toy for children/teenagers, a vehicle for people of non-traditional orientation, and a Frankenstein of the “toilet with wheels” type. So, I never seriously considered them either as vehicles in general or as motorcycles in particular. Well, some people drive on the roads, well, you never know what people have, many people consider me an animal, it doesn’t concern me, and thank the Emperor. The fact that there is a separate whole world with its own flora and fauna is, in some way, a revelation for me. And whether it’s long or short, the papers are signed, and I’m standing next to this black and blue miracle, and, frankly, I feel like a schoolboy in front of a naked woman. And it seems like he watched movies, and didn’t skip biology classes, but who knows what to do.

Well, okay, let’s start with a seemingly acquaintance and, having placed our butt on the “sofa,” we will somehow figure out how to be friends with this. I haven’t been surprised by a parking brake on a motorcycle for a long time, so the introduction was a little easier than I thought. Apparently, a lot of experience riding two-wheeled vehicles with motors of various shapes and designs means something. True, until the very end of the test ride I was still unable to get used to some things, but more on that later. In the meantime, after tinkering a little with the key and the standard alarm system, let’s get this work of transport thought into working condition. The sound of the engine running did not cause any negative sensations, although I expected something like a ringing squeal in the style of a Honda Dio - they are like relatives, albeit distant ones. In the usual manner, I decided to add a little gas and immediately felt some hesitation in the rear. Then the hedgehog remembered that I was standing on the center stand, which meant that the rear wheel was hanging in the air, and once I turned the gas, the CVT transmission began to work, and the wheel, in turn, began to spin, thereby creating some vibration. I’m a fool, I know it myself, and until the engine warmed up, I decided not to touch the gas anymore.

While the engine was warming up, we had some time to examine the controls and instrument panel. In a good way, of course, I should have started with the appearance of the motorcycle, but with all these papers, instructions and other fuss, I first jumped into the saddle, and only then I thought that I didn’t even pay attention to the appearance. But there is nothing left to do. The dashboard made a strong impression. Something between a space fighter from some computer game and a good sports car. The dial indicators are recessed deep into wells of complex geometric shape, between them there is a small LCD display, and all this with almost neon backlighting. The governing bodies did not provoke such a violent reaction. Standard for “large” Yamaha remotes, the left one, in my subjective opinion, is fairly overloaded with buttons. Some variety or even surprise was caused by the overly large start button on the right remote control. At first I even thought that one of my colleagues in the workshop had somehow carelessly attached the scooter, so much so that the original button fell off somewhere, and they replaced it with a doorbell button. But no, the button is original - Japanese designers are probably artists too - they see it that way.


Of the features of the controls, what most injected me into cognitive dissonance, of course, was the absence of any pedals, and, in connection with this, also the fact that both brakes are on the steering wheel. The habit of driving up to a traffic light with the clutch depressed must be abandoned immediately - it is fraught. Until the end of the test ride, I was still unable to completely overcome my basic habits, my legs were persistently searching for the pedals, my left hand was trying to “squeeze the clutch,” and my brain was trying to collect all these conflicting signals into one pile, while also leading this circus ensemble clowns. But this is in the future, but for now, by analogy with the FJR1300, I found a function for adjusting the raising of the windshield. And he began to selflessly push the glass back and forth. In fact, I won’t say that this is a must-have function. Personally, I adjusted the glass level once and almost forgot that it could be moved. True, then when I drove onto a suburban highway, I thanked the Japanese engineers more than once or twice for its presence. The highlight for me was the heated seat. This is a really necessary thing! And considering that I drove the T-Max at the end of September - beginning of October - it’s extremely necessary. More than once, not twice, returning home under a nasty drizzling rain with a gusty October wind that was already one hundred percent gusty (and sometimes in pouring rain), I praised the Japanese engineers for the presence of heating for everything and everyone and cursed the same Japanese marketers, who never got around to it, or for some reason do not want to equip all “normal” motorcycles with this function. This is despite the fact that, according to the assurances of knowledgeable comrades who know, can, and practice, this function is widespread on large scooters.

Having played enough with the buttons, it’s time to hit the road. Once the bike is off the center stand, we just add gas and... ...and the hell off we go. As for the dynamics, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. It is clear that 530cm versus 49cm is my only, and not to say successful, experience on a scooter, these are two big differences. So the dynamics will now have to be taken as the reference. Acceleration did not seem sluggish or weak to me at all. It’s far from the R6, but rather something like a sports 400cc (for example, the same, God forgive me, Kawasaki ZZR400), adjusted for fit and comfort, of course. For urban use, this is just right. For those who know how to operate the gas and use the brake, the dynamics will prove to be quite acceptable.


But the main killer feature of this vehicle is, of course, maneuverability. I don’t even know who it can be compared with, but this “big soft stool,” in my opinion, can turn 180 degrees without losing an iota of dynamics. In any gap, at any angle, along the most incredible trajectory, at any speed - no problem! Inertia? Gravity? No, I haven't. In any case, sometimes this is the feeling. The only one who, perhaps, could compete (in terms of maneuverability) with this vehicle is the small and extremely crafty Harley-Davidson Street 750. But comparing a not-quite-chopper with a re-scooter is, perhaps, overkill. In any case, the maneuverability of the T-Max is beyond fantastic. And, last but not least, this is thanks to the successful suspension and blatantly grippy brakes. The front suspension is inverted. It doesn’t have settings, or I didn’t find them, but in any case, I didn’t even think about changing anything in the suspension settings. I haven’t seen the rear suspension in person - it’s hidden somewhere inside, but, according to rumors, it’s a monoshock absorber, with a complex multi-link linkage system, like large adult motorcycles, and progressive characteristics. Most likely, it can be adjusted by preload, but, again, there was no desire to get into the suspension settings. The T-Max swallows holes, ruts, potholes and markings (punish the Emperor of Moscow road workers) a centimeter thick without any hint of shaking or anything like that. The motorcycle makes it clear that it has, yes, overcome the unevenness, but does so unobtrusively, which does not affect the comfort of the ride in any way.

The brake calipers on the front wheel are very reminiscent of those from the R6. And, they say, I’m not just imagining it. One way or another, the brakes are fantastically grippy. They don’t just upset or stop the far from lightest representative of two-wheeled vehicles, they literally dig it into the ground. In this context, they can be taken as reference for all motorcycles of medium capacity (from approximately 400 to 750 cc). I checked the ABS only once, but I can swear on imperial truths that it works as it should and, if used correctly, is the last straw that can save your life and health.

As for the convenience of sitting and other exterior features, the large sofa, since it’s hard to call it a seat or a saddle, raises no complaints. I wouldn’t call it the apogee of comfort, but, again, it depends on what you’re comparing it to, I still had the pleasure of riding such “standards” of comfort as the Gold Wing and Electra Glide. The step separating the driver and passenger parts of the sofa provides very good support for the lower back, which is especially important during dynamic acceleration, which, in turn, has the most positive effect on the overall dynamics and maneuverability of the ride. The legs are located, for my taste, awkwardly. But that's my taste. Adherents of scooter science claim that such a “feet first” landing, if not ideal, is at least canonical. It also provides excellent support during dynamic braking. Let's not argue with them. I can’t say anything about the seating position and passenger comfort. Due to the weather conditions, my wife, citing the fact that she is a gentle and sublime creature, refused to ride with me in this rain, wind and cold. However, I don’t blame her, one fool in the family is more than enough.

Separately, it should be said about one of the main features of large scooters, namely, the large luggage space under the seat. And, oh yes, it is truly large and even has a small flashlight. Although, it’s big when compared to a sportbike or a classic without additional panniers. Yes, it fits an integral helmet, gloves, and there is still room for my gentleman’s dacha set (if anyone doesn’t know: a bottle of vodka, a kilo of meat for barbecue, a loaf of white bread and ketchup). So, in the city, with the traveling nature of promotion, this is quite enough. There are two more small glove compartments under the steering wheel, where a mobile phone and wallet will fit. But when going somewhere on a trip further than the house-dacha, it seems to me that there is not so much space, and hanging panniers on it, especially side cases, IMHO, is not feng shui. But since when does anyone care about Feng Shui?


Well, now let's move on to what I definitely don't understand anything about - the appearance of this big scooter. And this, in a good way, should have started, but since I first saddled him and rode him, and only then began to look at him, it turns out something like this. The contours and lines are smooth, and, in my opinion, fit well into the general outline of all new Yamaha equipment with a pronounced desire for a kind of flying futurism. A little more and you can move from futurism to cyberpunk. The only thing that stands apart, however, is the exhaust pipe; in my opinion, it is too large and of some unfortunate shape. As for the rest, it’s a big stool, anyone who likes it will probably appreciate it, but for me, in general, it’s neither good nor bad, it just is.

Among the shortcomings, I would like to note the suddenly low engine power. Somewhat later, after I passed the T-Max, I had the opportunity to literally do “a couple of laps around the mountain” (Muscovites will definitely understand me) on a Suzuki Burgman 650 and a Yamaha Majesty 400 (though from earlier years). And if the Burgman has a cubic capacity of 100 cm more and everything is clear with it, then the Majesty was truly surprising. With a completely stock engine without any modifications to the CPG, intake/exhaust and other clutch weights, the Majesty, if not more dynamic, then feels the same as its younger big brother. A little taken aback by this thought, I took to the Internet and indeed: quite a decent number of owners complain about such a drawback of their new acquisition (the previous generation T-Max, according to the same rumors, did not have such a drawback). All this can be treated by installing an Akrapovic exhaust and some other weights somewhere in the clutch (sorry, not very strong in the design of scooter transmissions). And this is somehow sad, I don’t want to buy new equipment at a price much higher than the MT-09 and invest another 5-10% of its cost just to meet the declared class.

And several other unpleasant little things marred the trip. Firstly, the alarm system is overly abstruse. Turn the steering wheel, press the remote control, press start, press again, turn, pressed wrong, turned wrong…. Instead of disarming, the seat opened. In general, throughout the short period of ownership of the equipment, I still did not fully understand the principle of the alarm system. Secondly, those same notorious buttons for opening the seat and the fuel tank filler neck. They open only under some strange conditions, apparently when the Moon is in the right house, and Mars is retrograde in the northern hemisphere. Once I spent about 10 minutes trying to open the hatch under which the filler neck is located. It turns out that I did something wrong or didn’t turn off the engine, I don’t remember what exactly, but, as they say, the sediment remained. Later, when I returned the equipment, Yamaha told me that almost half of those who rented a motorcycle returned it without the tank filler cap. Yes, there is also a cover under the hatch! I refueled, closed the hatch and drove off, but the lid remained. It would probably be better if this lid were locked with a key, there would be less chance of losing it, but I’m already tired of it.


Well, it's time to finish. Did I like the technology? More likely yes than not, but I definitely didn’t become a fan of scooters, it’s still not my thing. However, I must admit that this class of motorcycles has a really powerful competitive advantage: few people can move around the city so quickly and easily. Literally, I went out, sat down, threw the phone in the glove compartment and drove off. Pre-launch preparation is very minimal. And at the same time, in city traffic it feels even better than a fish in water. So, if you move around the city a lot, and in general your line of work involves a lot of movement, then you should definitely think about purchasing something like this. Long trips are also by no means impossible, but IMHO it wouldn't be the best choice. Although…

Improved braking system

The Yamaha T-Max 500 scooter also has one feature that you can get for a small additional fee. The fact is that the manufacturer allows the buyer to choose the braking system, and if you are willing to pay a little more, you can get the ABS system, which is much more reliable and efficient, electrically controlled and the most advanced to date. But, as with the touring version, there's no forcing you to make that choice, so you can stick with the standard brakes. In the case of the Yamaha T-Max 500 scooter, reviews regarding the basic braking system are good, so the choice in favor of ABS can only be made if you have a strong desire - there is definitely no need for this. The 2006 T-Max, purchased in excellent and very well-maintained condition, served me faithfully for almost five seasons until it died a heroic death in an accident. The total mileage during this time was more than 80k kilometers, of which more than 50k were mine. During operation, I changed the variator belt (twice, once there was an obvious defect, it burst after 2k km), clutch, both brake discs. Everything else is consumables. After 7 hours in the downpour, there were electrical glitches, they went away on their own, I didn’t bother tinkering. People are accustomed to the fact that such a vehicle is a kind of toy, capable of traveling no more than sixty kilometers per hour. Of course, there are scooters that even teenagers can ride, but this particular model, like many of today's highly specialized scooters, can demonstrate incredible performance. For example, this scooter can accelerate to 187 kilometers per hour, which is very good. Naturally, this cannot be compared with the latest generation of motorcycles, on which you can accelerate to more than 300 kilometers per hour, but it is worth understanding that a maxi-scooter does not set itself the task of overtaking a motorcycle in a speed race. And in the sales race, this vehicle is gaining momentum every year.

Handling Yamaha TMAX

The TMAX's sporty handling is further enhanced by new 10-spoke wheels using Yamaha's exclusive centrifugal casting process, a process that makes the wheel elements thinner and lighter while maintaining strength. New wheels reduce unsprung weight, providing more responsive suspension and reducing the gyroscopic effect, which significantly affects steering. The moment of inertia with the new wheels has been reduced by approximately 10% at the front and 6% at the rear, making the wheels better track the road surface and making steering easier.

These qualities are also due to the 41mm inverted forks and monoshock absorber in the motorcycle-style link rear suspension, providing class-leading handling and excellent stability at all speeds. The new 2022 TMAX has received updated suspension settings that provide higher steering feedback along with easier steering. Tuning

As for tuning, many users of this scooter report that if desired, it can be “pumped up” very well, and you can start with the engine and brakes and even end with the body itself. Naturally, many people concentrate on pumping the suspension, because this model has some difficulties with it. And it’s not even about the quality of performance, because here it is at the highest level. Nobody expected that the Bavarian giant BMW would suddenly turn its attention to the maxi-scooter. There have been attempts for a relatively long time, but they were not crowned with success. The BMW C 600/650 Sport clearly stands out among its peers due to its dynamics and a touch of premiumness that is unusual for some maxi-scooters.

Engine

The device is driven by a four-stroke, two-cylinder, eight-valve, 647 cc in-line engine with electronic fuel injection, liquid cooling and a dry sump lubrication system. The confusing "600" in the name is used to further differentiate the sports and touring versions (C 600 Sport and C 650 GT, respectively). It should be noted that, despite all the tricks (for example, shifting the crankpins by 90°), the engine of the C 600/650 series scooters vibrates quite strongly and produces a whole symphony of extraneous loud sounds. The peak performance characteristics and resulting ratios of the Sport (60 hp at 750 rpm and 66 Nm at 6000 rpm) are among the most outstanding in the class. In terms of scooters, it's really fast. With some patience, you can see an honest 180 km/h on the GPS.

It is worth following recall campaigns from the manufacturer. Thus, the C 600/C 650 scooters produced in 2012–2014 were recalled due to improper operation of the timing chain tensioning mechanism and problems with the unscrewing side stand.

Transmission

The most common V-belt variator (CVT) is used as an intermediate transmission element. From there, torque is transmitted to the wheel via a maintenance-free chain in an oil bath (secondary drive). The node is reliable, but heavily loaded. The use of classic V-belt variators on powerful cubic scooters has only one significant drawback - sooner or later, wear of the variator parts leads to expensive repairs.

Frame and body kit

The prefix “Sport” in the name characterizes the amount of plastic and some ergonomic features. In this case, the owner receives a scooter, more tailored for moving around the city. The plastic itself is quite thick. In most cases, body kit parts are secured using strong bolts and insert nuts. However, the factory clearances move apart quite quickly. There is a common problem with BMW motorcycles manufactured before 2014 inclusive, with the control button for heated grips and the starter control button. Scooters released in 2013 were recalled due to problems with the fastening of the side fairings.

The frame is made according to a hybrid design in a motorcycle style. The steel pipes welded together in the area where the rear swingarm is mounted are reinforced with cast aluminum spacers. The tubular steel rear subframe is removable.

Brakes

A pair of 270 mm diameter discs and a pair of two-piston floating calipers are responsible for deceleration on the front wheel. The rear wheel has one disc with a diameter of 270 mm and one two-piston caliper. A BS and traction control are part of the standard equipment.

In early production models, insufficient feedback on the front brake lever was noticed. The C600 Sport and C650GT, manufactured between 2013 and 2015, had a factory recall to replace the brake lines.

Suspension

The suspension of the BMW C 600 Sport is a combination of an inverted telescopic fork with a 40 mm diameter of stays and an asymmetrically located (on the left side) adjustable monoshock absorber. The monoshock absorber, in turn, communicates with the rear wheel through a cantilever pendulum combined with a drive mechanism.

Comfort

Maximum comfort is achieved in city conditions; for tourism you will have to buy a higher windshield. The adjustments do not cover the entire range of possible conditions. A carrying case wouldn't hurt either. The convenient “accordion”, which expands the luggage capacity of the scooter dynamically, cannot be used statically. All tourist belongings will not fit into the “hold”.

Due to the narrowed steering wheel (compared to the C 650 GT), the driver of the C 600 Sport feels relaxed in the tightest traffic jams. Traditionally for BMW, a richly equipped instrument panel keeps the driver up to date with the latest events and allows you to control some additional options (heating, tire pressure monitoring, etc.).

Modifications

In addition to all sorts of image special versions, the BMW C 600/C 650 scooter model line has undergone one major restyling, combined with a comprehensive treatment of childhood illnesses. In 2016, the sports model index changed to a more logical one - C 650 Sport. At the same time, the appearance was seriously refreshed. The designers managed to highlight the optics with more contrast (including making the running lights brighter), work with the sides, dashboard and tail of the scooter, and also add sportiness to the muffler “can”, which is now unified with the C 650 GT. In technical terms, the engineers managed to add feedback to the front brake circuit, improve the performance of the rear suspension by installing a new shock absorber, and also, through the use of new springs in the clutch, new pulleys and weights, minimize failure at medium engine speeds.

Price

If you search for used scooters, you'll likely find better deals. However, if we consider new models that are purchased immediately after their production, then prices may vary depending on the configuration that you choose for your scooter. The most basic version costs about 830 thousand Russian rubles, but as you remember, you can equip it with a modern braking system, heated accessories - or even choose a tourist version of the model. All this can gradually increase the cost until it reaches its maximum level. A fully equipped maxi scooter of this model will cost a hundred thousand rubles more, so you will need to be smart about choosing what components you want in your vehicle.

Yamaha XP530 TMax (2012–2017, RUB 330,000–890,000)

Until recently, the T-Max (or by its modern name TMax) single-handedly ruled the maxi-scooter segment with a claim to sportiness. With the arrival of new players, the relevance of the Japanese legend has not faded, not least due to frequent modernizations.

Engine

The scooter is powered by a 530cc inline four-stroke eight-valve twin with electronic fuel injection and liquid cooling. The power plant as a whole is very reliable; long runs without major repairs are common. There are no cases of death through no fault of the owner. The engine is not without vibrations, but their level does not reduce comfort on long journeys and when driving around the city.

The Timaks reaches real speeds of 140 km/h easily and naturally. Adequate top speed is 165 km/h. The dynamics are a bit like those of a motorcycle with a displacement of 400 cm3.

Transmission

In early generations, the Yamaha T-Max transmission was built according to a standard scooter design with a V-belt variator located along the rear swingarm. In 2012, engineers radically changed the concept. The massive “leg” has shrunk to a small cover on the motor in which the drive pulley sits. A centrifugal clutch is located behind the pulley. The force is transmitted to the driven pulley via an open timing belt. The entire CVT part is located on the right side of the engine. The hardware is brilliant in its own way. By reducing unsprung masses, losses in torque transmission are reduced, resulting in improved dynamics and throttle response. The transmission has only one problem - it is difficult and expensive to maintain.

Frame and body kit

As with the transmission, the start was almost classic - a steel space frame. However, the continuation was unexpected. In 2008, the TMax was updated with a frame design close to that of a motorcycle. The aluminum duplex reliably holds the motor and suspension elements, giving the scooter sharp handling unusual for self-propelled sofas. By 2012, the frame was lightened and strengthened.

The Timaks body kit is very ornate. Plastic elements are attached to a large number of fragile latches and pistons. A couple of operations of assembling and disassembling plastic are guaranteed to lead to a subsequent trip to the store for fasteners.

Brakes

The evolution of the T-Max braking system is a transition from simple two-piston front calipers, first to calipers from the YZF - R 1 of the first generation, and then to powerful monoblocks from the latest Yamaha sportbikes and road bikes. Since 2012, ABS is standard.

Pendants

In terms of suspension, modern Timaks promote a motorcycle approach. A fairly strong ordinary telescope, and after 2015, the “shifter” sits firmly in the fleshy traverses and does not allow the scooter to deviate from the intended trajectory. At the rear, under the engine, almost parallel to the road surface, a monoshock absorber is installed in a protective casing. It communicates with the aluminum swingarm through a complex Monocross progression linkage system.

Comfort

The level of wind protection should be considered average. The standard windshield is in need of replacement. Ergonomics imposes restrictions on the height of the driver. Pilots taller than 185 cm will have to dangerously round their lower back in an attempt to sit comfortably. Passengers often complain about the excessive width of the rear seat.

Modifications

Everything related to the 499 cc T-Max era is gradually consigned to the shelves of history. Launched in 2012, the T-Max XP 530, on the contrary, is more relevant than ever. In addition to humane pricing, the asset includes an aluminum frame, a 530 cc engine with 46.5 liters. With. at its peak, advanced suspension, good brakes, and belt drive to the rear wheel.

The 2022 model is available in three trim levels – the basic one with a minimum set of options (traction, LED optics, ABS), the sports SX (its own set of electronics, a little styling and its own ignition maps) and the maximum DX.

First of all, it is worth considering the positive reviews of those people who own this scooter or have had the opportunity to spend so much time driving it in order to form any clear and informed opinion. So, most people note the outstanding design of this vehicle - especially compared to how this scooter started out in 2001. People also like the speed of this model, and in addition to it, the sound of the engine at high acceleration. Almost everyone notes the high build quality and reliability in use. Some especially highlight the fact that the maxi-scooter, despite its large size, does not require a huge amount of fuel, and is also extremely easy to operate. At the same time, impressive wind protection is also an advantage - naturally, especially in the case of a touring model.

Negative reviews

There are practically no negative reviews for this scooter in particular - most people simply note some of its shortcomings in their positive reviews. And this can be easily understood by the fact that they highlight only two shortcomings, both of which are repeated from review to review. The first is the suspension, this drawback has already been mentioned in the article. The fact is that the suspension of this scooter was developed for Europe and, accordingly, for European roads, such as the German Autobahn. Therefore, the suspension here is extremely sensitive, and if you drive on uneven roads, you will feel every bump you roll over. The second disadvantage is the high cost of repairs and maintenance. Indeed, this scooter itself is not that cheap, but at the same time repairing it is a complete nightmare. Therefore, it is much easier not to break it, that is, to drive carefully and wisely.

The new Yamaha TMAX features a class-leading 7-inch full-color TFT display that conveniently displays a range of important parameters. The display has three layout options, each with a digital speedometer in the center. The Sport style layout has a radial tachometer scale, the Smart layout has a more modest needle tachometer, and the Authentic layout has a familiar-looking tachometer with a larger needle. Each layout style displays a wide range of options, and the Intelligent layout displays an animated visualizer that constantly changes appearance. In addition, the display is equipped with the ability to connect a smartphone via Bluetooth, WiFi or USB. The smartphone can be placed in a waterproof front compartment with a special mount. Once the smartphone is connected, the rider can use the joystick on the left remote control to control the smartphone functions displayed on the scooter's display - for example, switch music, answer calls, view notifications, weather, and so on.
