Two new BRP LYNX 59 Ranger 600 EFI and 600 ACE. Comparative review.

BRP 59 Yeti 600 Ace is one of the affordable snowmobiles of the Canadian manufacturer, among modern utilitarian models. Despite the moderate cost, Canadian engineers managed to create a good device capable of coping with the most difficult tasks in harsh climatic conditions. The machine is adapted to the northern regions of Russia, as well as other similar areas with low temperatures. The model under consideration has proven itself to be the best during tests with the participation of factory testers and real users. The capabilities of the BRP Links 59 Yeti snowmobile can be successfully tested on a compacted and flat road, as well as in deep and loose snow. The technology received a set of balanced solutions presented in this article. In particular, attention was paid to the technical parameters, configuration and cost of the snowmobile, as well as the opinions of potential customers. By the way, the last point was taken into account by BRP during the development of the snowmobile, since the designers paid special attention to the needs and requirements of professional users, lovers of active walks and extreme trips. The result is a balanced device that meets the needs of all segments of the population who are interested in this technology.

Thus, during the development of the BRP Links 59 Yeti model, the BRP company paid special attention to the design and ergonomic features. The machine is made in a classic style, as befits the signature design concept familiar from other high-tech BRP snowmobiles. The model under consideration received aerodynamic features, smooth lines and smoothed shapes, without any angularities. This design inspires respect, lifts your spirits and sets you up for fast and aggressive driving. With its appearance, the car seems to hint that it is oriented towards extreme driving. This is also facilitated by the steering and chassis features. All this will be discussed below. Returning to ergonomics, let's pay attention to rationally located controls - the speedometer and tachometer, which do not glare in the sun and can display additional information. In addition, an important role was played by the high windshield, which is installed in the basic configuration and is a means of protection and improvement of visibility. In addition, for additional visibility, the car is equipped with rear-view mirrors, as well as front and rear lights, which provide good visibility in the dark or in case of bad weather (blizzard, blizzard, etc.). Other ergonomic “little things” also play an important role and allow you to get a general idea of the machine. Among these little things, let’s pay attention to the heated steering wheel grips, as well as the driver’s and passenger’s grips. In addition, comfort and convenience were improved by installing a passenger backrest - the snowmobile is a two-seater already in the basic configuration. Under the driver's seat there is a special niche, which is a luggage compartment for storing various things and accessories. The tow bar provided as standard makes it possible to transport a sled along with a large cargo container, and this significantly increases the cargo capabilities of a snowmobile, which is primarily focused on fast driving. Of the ergonomic features, you should also pay attention to high-quality finishing materials. Despite the abundance of plastic elements, we can talk about the high strength of the snowmobile and its resistance to any road and climatic situations.

The next aspect is the chassis. The developers gave it no less importance than the design of the snowmobile. Thus, the LTS front suspension is of its own production, focused on fast and, at the same time, comfortable driving - this fact indicates balanced characteristics. For greater reliability, MC oil shock absorbers are installed, which work efficiently and smooth out all the irregularities encountered on a compacted road, as well as in deep snow. As for the rear suspension, it is based on PPS-5900-A technology, borrowed from the more flagship sleds in the BRP lineup. The peculiarity of this chassis is its high endurance and resistance to increased and extreme loads, which allows it to overcome absolutely any obstacles - stones, trees and other barriers. However, there is no need to worry about any damage to the suspension, given the successful factory endurance testing.

Spare parts for BRP Ski-doo and Lynx snowmobiles

Bombardier world .

The history of the snowmobile dates back to 1916, when the first patent was issued in the United States for the invention of a vehicle with skis in front and a track in the back. However, the production of these machines never began. To drive in deep snow, many simply removed the front wheels from their cars and installed skis instead. But the production of the world's first snowmobiles began after the invention of the caterpillar in the 20s of the last century. The caterpillar was invented by the founder of the now world famous company Bombardier (Bombardier Recreational Products) - Joseph-Armand Bombardier. He managed to put his idea into practice only in 1937, when he began production of the world's first snowmobile called the B-7, which was a large indoor seven-seater unit.

Of course, the first snowmobile had very little in common with current models, but it fulfilled the main task that harsh, snowy winters set for people - transport. These machines were irreplaceable in long winter conditions. They were used for both industrial and civilian purposes, and during World War II - even military. Therefore, the second snowmobile model from Bombardier did not take long to arrive, and already in 1942 the 12-seater B-12 snowmobile appeared. And by 1951, more than 300 thousand units of this equipment had already been produced.

Joseph-Armand Bombardier did not stop there; he sought to create a small, compact and as fast as possible snowmobile. But at that time he was unable to do this, since there were no technical conditions that met his needs. But science, like all of humanity, does not stand still. Thousands of discoveries are made every year. And by 1959, the technical base allowed Bombardier to make his dream come true. With the help of lighter and smaller power units, he was able to assemble the first model that can be more or less compared to modern snowmobiles. The new model was called Ski-Doo. One of the myths about the creation of this particular brand says that Joseph-Armand Bombardier planned to name his invention Ski-Dog (from the words ski - skis, and dog - dog), but the artist who designed the first model made a mistake, instead of “Ski- Dog" wrote "Ski-Doo". They did not correct the mistake, and thus a world-famous brand was born.

Ski-Doo snowmobile production continued to grow. Buyers were delighted with Bombardier's invention. The snowmobile performed not only household tasks, but also became an excellent means of entertainment. Even the first snowmobile competitions appeared. We rode snowmobiles with all our hearts. Sales grew exponentially. If 225 snowmobiles were sold in the first year, then four years later the market size was 8,200 snowmobiles. It is important to note that during mass production, the quality of the products remained at a high level.

Not long ago, the famous Canadian motorcycle manufacturer Bombardier was renamed the BRP company, but this did not make Bombardier snowmobiles (now BRP snowmobiles) any worse. Ski-Doo snowmobiles have long been rightfully considered one of the best machines. Every BRP snowmobile is a combination of the latest technology, comfort and ease of operation.

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) currently produces snowmobiles under two brands: Ski-Doo and Lynx. The Lynx brand used to be Finnish, but in 1993 a Canadian company acquired it. Snowmobiles under this brand are aimed at Europe and Russia. Thus, the BRP Lynx Yeti Pro Army V-800 snowmobile was developed specifically for Russia. This is the only snowmobile in the world with a track width of 60 cm. In general, it should be noted that the BRP line of snowmobiles is impressive, there is something for everyone. As many experts note, after the change of owner, Lynx snowmobiles significantly improved in quality. To ensure a complete, exciting and at the same time safe holiday, BRP has put both advanced technology and unique design at the service of production.

Currently the Lynx snowmobile line includes the following models:

  • Snowmobile Lynx 69 Yeti 600 ACE 2013-2014
  • Snowmobile Lynx 69 Yeti 600 Army 2013-2014
  • Snowmobile Lynx 69 Yeti 600 Alpine 1200 4-TEC 2013-2014
  • Snowmobile BRP Lynx Xtrim Commander LTD 600 HO SDI 2013-2014
  • Snowmobile BRP Lynx Yeti Pro Army V-800
  • Snowmobile BRP Lynx Yeti 59 600 4-TEC
  • Snowmobile BRP Lynx 69 Yeti 600 ACE
  • Snowmobile BRP Lynx Adventure Grand Tourer 600 E-TEC
  • Snowmobile BRP Lynx Adventure Grand Tourer 1200 4-TEC
  • Snowmobile Lynx Xtrim BoonDocker 800R E-TEC
  • Snowmobile Lynx Rave RE 800R E-TEC

Let's briefly talk about some of them.

Lynx family for deep snow - BoonDocker . Finnish pride is the rear suspension PPS (Pauli Piippola Suspension), named after the famous Scandinavian ex-racer and now designer Pauli Piippola. Linksovtsy say that its main advantage is not in energy intensity and reliability, but in ensuring the correct distribution of weight and traction of the track, regardless of the load. True, the increased safety margin negatively affected the weight of the unit: even with all the tricks, the PPS suspension of Finnish snowmobiles is noticeably heavier than Ski-Doo analogues. However, despite the cumbersomeness, it was considered successful and since 2007, in different variations, it has been installed on all Lynx models. And, above all, on sports and related snowmobiles, including the BoonDocker deep snow family. With the PPS-3700 suspension, you can fly up any slope, and the landing is extremely soft and comfortable.

However, despite all the undeniable attractiveness, the lion’s share of the company’s profit is brought not by “athletes”, but by utilitarians. One of them is the new Lynx 69 Yeti Army 600 E-TEC . The modernized “army man”, which replaced the Yeti Pro Army V-800, is built on the L-XU platform, which replaced the archaic Yeti II. Under the hood it has the same two-stroke engine as on the younger Boondocker. But its operating conditions are completely different: the weight is, at best, rated “dry” 311 kg, the variator is utilitarian, with a Syncro transmission and a reduction gear for towing a loaded trailer. Pendants? Apart from the proprietary rear PPS-6900-A, there are no frills. In front, there are generally simple LTS telescopic struts. No lever, no corrupting luxury! Yes, she is, in fact, not needed here. A warrior must be hardy and unpretentious. You realize the benefits of simple solutions first of all in the forest, when, maneuvering between nearby trees, you stop thinking about the risk of snagging and, consequently, damaging the levers. After all, they don’t exist! Unfortunately, you have to pay with controllability. To tuck it into a sharp turn is, how to say... the letter train only goes straight! Under the gas, the wide caterpillar drags him past the bend, despite steering commands. The stubborn “warrior” changes direction only by coasting. Partially, this family trait of “super whitetrucks” is compensated by their behavior in fields where snow is waist-deep or higher - with the proper dexterity of the rider, it can even steer and fall over. And, by the way, compared to its predecessor, it is a little easier to place it on the arch, including thanks to the revised ergonomics: it is comfortable to stand on, sit on, and hang from. But if you don’t chase the next dose of a cocktail mixed with adrenaline and endorphin, then there are no contradictions. The main task of the Lynx 69 Yeti Army is to crawl on its belly where an armored train cannot rush. And, if possible, drag the sleigh with priceless belongings safe and sound.

Lynx snowmobiles traditionally have a wide range of wide-track models. It's hard to imagine a combination of engine, track and suspension that the Lynx doesn't have. Some combinations seemed incredible just a couple of years ago, but now they are a reality today. If last year the main surprise was the Alpine with 61 tracks and front wishbone suspension, then this year it is, of course, the XTRIM COMMANDER 800R E-TEC . What seemed incredible was the combination of the 800 E-TEC engine with 160 hp. and 51 caterpillars - now a reality!

snowmobile brand is widely known among winter extreme sports fans around the world. Fans of exciting races on snowy plains especially liked these devices, because this brand is famous for its sports models that use E-Tec technology. This technology is implemented in a two-stroke engine and allows fuel to be injected directly into the combustion chamber, which occurs under enormous pressure. At the same time, the design of the chamber itself implies uniform combustion of all the fuel, and combustion occurs layer by layer, as in a diesel engine. This technology makes the snowmobile engine more fuel-efficient while maintaining its benefits, such as fast acceleration and low weight. Another striking feature of Ski doo snowmobiles is the so-called Rev platform. At one time, it was this development that allowed the company to take the lead, outperforming its competitors in terms of maneuverability and maneuverability. At the moment, the platform has undergone major changes towards even greater convenience and manageability. Modern Ski doo models feature the Rev XP platform, which retains the advantages of its predecessor and expands its capabilities. The geometry of the driver's seating position on the new snowmobiles allows you to sit more comfortably with your legs stretched forward. The center of gravity of the snowmobile is located under the seat closer to the driver, and the seat is slightly shifted forward. This landing position is equally good for long trips and for aggressive control when the pilot maneuvers while standing. And, of course, the engineers made every effort to reduce the weight of the device by 15% compared to the previous generation Rev.

The Ski-Doo brand produces snow all-terrain vehicles for any purpose: sports, touring, mountain. Utilitarian snowmobiles designed for multi-purpose use deserve special attention. Although they are great for traveling, their main purpose is to transport passengers and cargo along snowy roads. Utilitarian snowmobiles, presented in the Ski-Doo Skandic or Ski-Doo Expedition , are able to overcome plains, mountains and forests thanks to excellent maneuverability, cross-country ability and high power. The most budget-friendly and at the same time high-quality snowmobiles are representatives of the Ski-Doo Tundra . These lightweight and maneuverable utilities are available with three types of engines.

Reviews

  • Nikolay, Belgorod. A good car for any trip on a well-worn road, as well as through deep snowdrifts. This snowmobile impressed me in many respects, among which I would note sharp handling, lack of slipping and skidding when making turns, a spacious trunk and a towbar. I liked the rich basic equipment - there is a heated seat and even a passenger backrest, as well as heated driver grips. The most necessary information is displayed on the dashboard, so even novice users will not get confused here. Fuel consumption does not exceed 20 liters per 100 kilometers. Stylish design sets you up for fast driving. The main disadvantage is the expensive warranty service, which must be completed as part of maintenance in accordance with the regulations, otherwise the car will be removed from warranty. Spare parts are quite expensive, and they are mainly delivered to order. For example, a new windshield cost me 20 thousand rubles (the old glass was cracked due to wood). The machine is durable and reliable, I hope that no large service costs are expected.
  • Vitaly, Irkutsk region. A good car, designed to give pleasure. Looks great and drives sporty. You can reach maximum speed without worrying about twitching or slipping, since directional stability is simply excellent. The snowmobile tenaciously holds the road and does not deviate from the given trajectory. In general, all the advantages of a snowmobile can be appreciated on a knurled and smooth road, and even with sharp turns. The problems begin in real off-road conditions. In deep snow, the tracks quickly become clogged with snow and do not clean themselves. And as a result, cross-country ability worsens. The car slips a lot in loose snow, and the snow packed into the tracks quickly freezes in cold weather. If you don’t clean it in time (and the snow can quickly melt and freeze just as quickly), then you won’t be able to move. A snowmobile is economical only on flat roads, and when transporting cargo or at maximum speed, fuel consumption increases significantly, and often exceeds 20 liters. I liked the build quality, as well as the ergonomics. The seat is comfortable. The car is clearly designed mainly for sporty driving on smooth roads. Therefore, I will continue to use my old Buran for off-roading.
  • Alexander, Leningrad region. BRP Links Yeti 59 is a high-quality budget snowmobile with a powerful engine and compact dimensions. With such a small snowmobile you can overcome hard-to-reach places, and you don’t have to worry about damage if you suddenly have to go around a difficult obstacle in the forest. Highly located headlights can be used as an SOS signal - for example, if I am stuck somewhere, lost and cannot get out. Fortunately, this has never happened before, since I always travel along a route that is well known to me - fishing, hunting and back home. Just in case, I installed LED headlights that shine even brighter. Over two years of operation, the snowmobile has never broken down in a major way, as it is assembled from high-quality materials and durable plastics, which reduce the weight of the snowmobile and make it more manageable.
