Verdict

In general, the Yamaha YBR250 motorcycle is suitable for beginner motorcycle enthusiasts and those who prefer a quiet ride. But when needed, the YBR250 can easily reach speeds of 140 km/h thanks to its powerful 250 cc engine. Perhaps the only drawback is the price, which can stop you from buying.

Yamaha YBR 250 is a lightweight Japanese motorcycle. This model has a more powerful engine compared to the Yamaha YBR 125, and is also equipped with a monoshock absorber. The braking system is characterized by the presence of a front disc brake with a diameter of 282 mm. At the rear there is a conventional drum brake. Overall, the braking system is more advanced than the previous model.

Yamaha YBR 250 - profile view

The headlight is multi-reflective type. The Yamaha YBR 250 is equipped with a dashboard with an LCD screen, which displays all important information in a convenient format, including the technical condition of the motorcycle. For those who are used to driving long distances, an important detail is the gas tank volume is 19 liters, fuel consumption is up to 3 liters per 100 km.

By the way, we recently did a detailed review of the younger brother of the 250 cc YBR, YBR125

It is impossible not to note the comfortable fit, thanks to which the body does not get tired even on long trips. Proper placement of mirrors provides full visibility.

Disadvantages of Yamaha YBR 125

Not cool enough

Ebrik looks quite modest and inconspicuous compared to sports motorcycles with plastic on the sides or cool choppers. That’s why even normal girls won’t fall for Ebrik. So, if you are a novice motorcyclist and are riding YBR 125, then girls will not immediately line up for you to ride them, although, of course, a lot depends on the person, you can interest women with your masculine charisma, but this is a topic for another article. But in any case, the Yamaha YBR 125 was created precisely in order to master the skills of riding a motorcycle, learn how to maneuver, take turns and not fall, and show-off and coolness will come with time.

Not comfortable on intercity roads

If you ride around the city, then everything is fine, this motorcycle passes between cars perfectly, but when it comes to driving on the highway, some difficulties arise.

The maximum speed does not exceed 110 km/h, but even at this speed it will be very dangerous to ride, because the weight of the motorcycle is very small, which means that the motorcyclist can be blown away by the wind, so it is better not to accelerate more than 90 km/h, which means that all cars and other cars will be significantly faster than you, and trucks will be a little slower and you will have to overtake them, but on Ebrik this is not easy, because after 90 km/h the speed gain is extremely slow, and you need to overtake quickly while the lane is clear , so you need to be extremely careful.

Brief history of the model

  • 2004 – start of production and sales of the Yamaha YBR 125 model. First generation
. Only versions with a front semi-fairing and a trapezoidal headlight were presented on the Russian market.
  • 2007 – second generation
. Yamaha YBR 125 gets new carburetor, under-tank plastics and color schemes. The location of the gearbox foot changes.
  • 2008 – third generation
. The motorcycle gets new color schemes, five-spoke wheels and tubeless tyres. In addition, the model is equipped with a heated Mikuni VM22 carburetor, a footrest sensor, and has different fork cups, caliper mounts and fuel filter locations. As standard, the motorcycle has a DID oil seal chain with a service life of up to 18,000 km.
  • 2010 – fourth generation
. The model receives an injector, developed side plastic and a round headlight. This model is not officially supplied to the Russian Federation.

A little history of the model

Since the introduction of Yamaha YBR 125 motorcycles, they have undergone many improvements and changes, becoming better and more reliable.

Yamaha YBR 125 first generation

2004 – launch of sales of the first generation Yamaha YBR 125. In Russia, only versions with a trapezoid-shaped headlight and semi-fairing were sold. Features of this generation are:

  • The wheels are three-spoke, tube tires.
  • The gearbox pedal is short in length, which is inconvenient to use for people with large feet.

2007 - the second generation motorcycles were launched on sale, which did not change much in appearance, but they changed technically:

  • The carburetor was improved, so that idle speed was easier to regulate.
  • The gearbox pedal has been lengthened.
  • Swapped out the dark gray color for light gray and the stickers on the plastic.

Yamaha YBR 125 third generation

2008 - the modified third generation Yamaha EBR 125 went on sale, this time the motorcycle is already noticeably different from its predecessors. It had the following features:

  • The wheels are five-spoke, tubeless tires.
  • Heated carburetor.
  • Chainring with mounting holes located in different locations, but the same size as before.
  • On the rear fender, the location and method of attaching the turn signals has changed (attached using plastic clips). The turn signals themselves have become more streamlined and compact.
  • The low beam began to turn on automatically when the ignition was turned on.
  • A sensor for the side stand not being retracted appears on the panel.
  • The brake pads, calipers, discs, front forks, mirrors and colors were also updated.

2010 - the company developed the fourth generation YBR 125 motorcycle. It has a significantly updated appearance, but these motorcycles are not supplied to Russia.

Tuning Yamaha YBR 125. Fantasy is limitless

Tuning Yamaha YBR 125 is like a drug. The availability of inexpensive spare parts and accessories makes modifications affordable, financially, and very fun. To begin with, I threw out the standard trunk, which had the inscription “no more than 3 kg” on it. My backpack with a tent, sleeping bag and fuel weighs 15 kilograms, and I was not at all happy about losing it on the road. I ordered a new, reinforced tourist trunk with a chrome frame from Ali.

In the nostalgia for the chopper, Steed's fringed leather side cases also found their place. Tuned mirrors of increased size and chrome handles look like original ones. Next season, I plan to change the rear Izhevsk shock absorbers to Honda ones from the SV400. Relatives were taken in the fall, when my friend and I were preparing for our first long-distance trip on the Ebr. The owners' fantasies are amazing. Some people install additional cooling, others use a pendulum on rolling bearings, I’ve also seen YBR-enduro on super “evil” tires.

Disadvantages of Yamaha YBR 125

Not cool enough

The Yamaha YBR 125 is by no means a super cool bike. This is an ordinary, simple motorcycle for beginners. Girls on the roads will not stare at you, and any nearby chopper or sportbike will easily outshine you. So just learn to ride without falling, and on the next motorcycle you’ll be able to show off.

Not comfortable on long trips

Ebrik is good when driving in the city, but when driving on the highway it becomes uncomfortable. Firstly, you won’t be able to accelerate faster than 110 kilometers, and secondly, you will probably be blown away by gusts of wind from passing cars, since the motorcycle is very light.

The optimal speed on the highway for this motorcycle is 90 km/h. And by the way, overtaking cars will be problematic, because the motorcycle accelerates very slowly at this speed.

Additional protection

In addition, in this modification, the Yamaha Fazer 150 is equipped with an R1-style semi-fairing, which perfectly protects the pilot from oncoming air flow. For safe and comfortable driving at night, the body kit integrates a double headlight with bright halogen lamps.

By purchasing this Fazer, you will not be disappointed in any way!

Motorcycle Yamaha YBR 125

can confidently be called a modern legend of the motorcycle industry. Tens and hundreds of thousands of novice motorcyclists around the world learned to ride it. With all this, the YBR125 is an absolutely complete motorcycle. Japanese designers made a real breakthrough in their time, combining in one motorcycle the maximum budget and such advantages of a real motorcycle as reliability and endurance.

Currently, this bike is assembled in China under the auspices, but this has not made it worse - quality control at the enterprise is obviously at the level. At the same time, the Yamaha YBR 125 was and remains the cheapest of the Japanese motorcycles. Before the 2014 crisis, you could buy a new motorcycle in a showroom for about 80 thousand rubles, and for that money you could get a trouble-free “workhorse”. Motorcyclists who grew up in the USSR, whose acquaintance with two-wheeled motor vehicles began with some “Minsk” or “Voskhod”, which broke down with enviable regularity and at the same time had the dynamics of a garbage cart, can wipe away a stingy nostalgic tear.

Everything about this motorcycle is made as simple as possible, and this is exactly the case when simplicity of design directly correlates with reliability. The Yamaha YBR 125 has a steel diamond-shaped frame, a two-valve single-cylinder 125 cc air-cooled engine, a rear drum brake, a carburetor, a chain drive and a five-speed gearbox. So to speak, an eternal classic in the flesh. The design of the YBR 125 is also very ordinary; the motorcycle cannot be called modern in appearance, but this is not required of it.

The maximum speed of the light bike, which weighs just over a hundred kilograms, is 110 km/h. However, he gains it quite quickly, although no one expects racing records from the most budget-friendly “Japanese” on the market. The 125 cc Yamaha YZF-R125 and Yamaha WR 125 show incomparably better performance, but they also cost several times more than the hard worker YBR 125.

This motorcycle is a working machine, the main task of which is to deliver its owner from point A to point B as cost-effectively as possible. The Yamaha YBR 125 is also very good as a “study desk”. However, some fans of this motorcycle even manage to travel on it, since its power reserve of more than four hundred kilometers without refueling contributes to this. According to reviews from YBR 125 owners, some of them have already put hundreds of thousands of kilometers on the wheels of their motorcycles, and during this time no significant breakdowns have occurred.

Yes, the simplicity of the design, along with the low price, is another trump card of the Yamaha YBR 125. This motorcycle deservedly enjoys the reputation of a phenomenally durable “horse”, and with timely maintenance it can serve for years without requiring attention. Of course, many motorcyclists soon become insufficient with the capabilities this bike has, and they switch to other, more powerful models, but, nevertheless, the YBR 125 firmly holds the palm in the category “the most popular motorcycle for beginners,” successfully competing with the Honda CB 400.

Of course, when buying this bike, you shouldn’t count on any impressive technical characteristics. But if your goal is the most inexpensive and at the same time reliable, trouble-free motorcycle for everyday riding, which will successfully filter through any traffic jams and take you to your destination, no matter what happens, then the Yamaha YBR 125 is the motorcycle for you.

Kind of like a finale

Yamaha engineers meticulously perfect the 125. And, as we know, there is no limit to perfection. If it weren’t for my love for big, chrome-plated monsters, I would, of course, buy the fourth model. I won’t sell my little one, there is a place for it in my garage, and I have time to take it for a “walk”.

As a first bike, the YBR 125 is ideal. For regular trips around the city, a temporary replacement or a “second” motorcycle, there is no need to look for the best option. It simply doesn't exist.

If speed is not your main desire when traveling, if you need nimble, economical and easy-to-repair equipment that still looks decent on the road, then this is your option. A sales leader, as the best budget motorcycle, honestly earning every ruble invested in it, loyal to any tuning, the Yamaha YBR 125 of any generation will become your Friend.

Of course, this is just my personal opinion. Take care of yourself, friends, and good luck on the roads!

Advantages of a motorcycle

Controllability

Ease of control of a motorcycle is a very important characteristic for novice bikers; the Yamaha EBR 125 has an excellent one, since it has low weight and power, as well as reliable brakes. It is convenient for maneuvering in city conditions, where there is not enough space on roads and in yards, and it also accelerates confidently. Many motorcycle schools use it as a training model; it is ideal for learning to drive and smoothes out all the mistakes that a beginner can make.

Reliability

The Yamaha YBR 125 is very simply designed, and you have to try really hard to break it. If the battery suddenly runs out, it starts easily with a pushrod or kick starter. In the event of a breakdown, even a novice motorbike enthusiast will be able to understand what exactly is broken thanks to the elementary design.

Economical

Considering the fuel consumption is 3 liters per 100 km and the gas tank volume is 13 liters, many owners of the Yamaha YBR 125 refuel once or twice a week. It turns out that a full tank is enough for 350-400 km.

It is economical in terms of oil consumption: the EBR 125 only needs to be filled with 1 liter of oil, whereas most motorcycles need to be filled with 2.5 - 3 liters.

As for the transport tax, it is much lower for small 125cc motorcycles than for larger ones.

Patency

The Yamaha YBR 125 performs well on country roads and even off-road. Naturally, this is not an enduro and it will be problematic to overcome a mud pit, but it can handle the rest with ease. If necessary, you can install suitable tires on it and its cross-country ability will increase even more. However, keep in mind that you should not jump on an ebrike; the suspension is not designed for this kind of driving and may break.

Well, in case of big difficulties on the way, the YBR 125 can simply be carried by hand, since it weighs a little more than 100 kilograms.

Easy to repair

Spare parts for the Yamaha EBR 125 are very easy to obtain and are inexpensive. Therefore, in case of damage, you can always repair it without problems. And if you install protective bars on a motorcycle, then it will be almost impossible to cause any harm to it.

A common failure among beginners is damage to the plastic headlight fairing when falling to the side. In this case, it is recommended to simply replace the headlight with a round one. All parts for 125 cc bikes are quite cheap, and if you don’t fall or have an accident, you will be able to ride the Yamaha YBR 125 for a long time without repairs.

Liquidity

Since the start of production of Yamaha YBR motorcycles, they have been actively purchased in Russia, and therefore it will not be difficult to find this model for a small amount and in good condition. And when you outgrow this motorcycle, you can easily sell it.

Features and Specifications of Yamaha FZR 400 RR

The Yamaha FZR 400 RR motorcycle, reviews of which we will consider in this article, has many features. In particular, it does not have a fuel reserve sensor. As a rule, a full tank lasts for 200 kilometers. It is worth noting that the 600cc and liter versions are equipped with the same instrument panels. The tachometer and analogue speedometer are easy to read, while the turn signal, neutral, high beam and oil pressure warning lights are hidden from view by the brake fluid reservoir.

If necessary, this bike can be equipped with a steering damper. It will make intense overclocking safer. In order to protect the shock absorber from dirt, you can install a wing above the rear wheel. This will also help solve the problem of chain lube getting onto the motorcycle and the pilot's legs. Despite their low power, the front headlights of the motorcycle provide the necessary illumination.

The design of this model includes the Deltabox frame, which became the ancestor of the famous family of aluminum frames that made Yamaha famous. It is this frame that still underlies most sports models. It is worth noting that at the time of the release of this motorcycle it was a technical novelty. At that time, only a few models were equipped with such a frame. The brake system of the Yamaha FZR 400 RR motorcycle deserves special consideration. Reviews claim that the front brake is particularly effective.

The fact is that during the braking process the center of gravity shifts forward, while the rear wheel almost hangs in the air. The brake system design includes reinforced hoses and two brake discs. The rear shock absorber is stiff enough for urban conditions. It is equipped with spring preload adjustment. The front fork does not cause any complaints. The wheel size provides a wide selection of high-quality tires.

The benefits are in the details

We need different motorcycles. There's not much to argue about here. Objectively, not everyone and not everywhere will need an evil “liter”. Large cubic capacity, due to redundancy in many respects, is increasingly giving way in parking lots and garages to small motorcycles with great meaning!

The Yamaha YS 250 Fazer is new to Russia, but in fact this motorcycle was born back in 2005. On the way to today's 2022 model year, the Phaser has changed cosmetically and captured more and more new markets. But most of the planet has been aware for 12 years! In purely engineering terms, the Fazer 250, with the exception of differences in optics and plastic, is the familiar Yamaha YBR 250 road bike. The models overlap so closely that in different markets they exchange names with each other to such an extent that the devil himself will break his leg.

In Russia, small cubic capacity was not always persona non grata. What I mean is that, recently, owning a moped-shaped motorcycle is absolutely not valued in society. There is a correct joke about show-offs on this topic. If they glowed, Moscow would look like Las Vegas. Meanwhile, in the post-war period, in the industry and everyday life of the then USSR, the predominantly small-capacity and two-stroke motorcycle was an integral part. Hope and support, but not a weapon for suicide. With the collapse of the Union and the arrival of gray imports from Japan, Europe and America, puny Soviet technology faded into the background. At the same time, the motorcycle ceased to be useful, turning mainly into a toy for entertainment and, at the same time, into the subject of general condemnation and the main character of jokes about the transience of life.

Let's face it. Two wheels - profitable transport. An increasing part of the world’s population is switching to “profitable” motorcycles to the detriment of interesting and charismatic ones. Popular resort destinations have long been under the moped-like hood. India travels entirely on small-capacity vehicles; in large European cities, scooters and small motorcycles are a sight to behold. And there’s more than enough motivation. It’s not a fact that we, with our love of distances and huge cars, will draw the right conclusions. But nonetheless…

Article on the topic: Grill Bork reviews from owners

Against the general background, the recipe for creating specifically the Yamaha YS 250 Fazer is almost formulaic. In an imaginary vat we throw a little metal, a lot of plastic, a pinch of rubber and designer delights to taste. Whoosh... the result is a small, extremely budget-friendly, but surprisingly durable, slightly comical motorcycle. Vitality in a particular case is dictated by origin. Despite the fact that the frame bears a large “Made in China” nameplate, Yamaha maintains the brand and does not exchange it for disposability. This is confirmed by the high popularity of the YBR 250 and YS 250. Fracture is generally not welcome in this market segment. Most consumers pay their last for a motorcycle. The slightest doubt about professional suitability - and the model will be overboard, no one will buy it.

“Phaser” looks quite in the spirit of the times. The skin of not the thickest plastic creates pleasant roundness at the stern and in the area of the cylinder; in the area of the driver's side of the seat, on the contrary, it forms a narrow waist. The puny “donut” wheels (100/80–17+130/70–17), as befits the genre, are not in harmony with anything on this planet. Alas, wider wheels and tires will have a detrimental effect on speed and handling. As a child, I installed tires on the ZID-200 that were much wider and higher in profile - I know what I’m saying. The crown of the design efforts is a funny convex headlight that smoothly turns into the instrument panel, a nice triangular transparent brake light and a monstrous “can” of the exhaust system, almost entirely covered with a bunch of overlays, which gradually grows on the right side of the motorcycle. The release, of course, with a catalyst. Ecology... you know!

From the driver's seat, the world can even be called cheerful. The main thing is not to grow too tall, otherwise it will be a bit cramped. My almost 190 cm were on the verge of comfort and definitely beyond proportionality. Alas, from the outside I look comical on the Yamaha YS 250 Fazer. The seat is comfortable for an adult, with a good profile. The loin part settles into place once and for all and does not move around while driving back and forth. I'm pleased with the dashboard. Firstly, although it has truncated functionality, it is in a proprietary case a la Yamaha Diversion or Yamaha Fazer, which is nice. Secondly, the liquid crystal panel present on the left side surprises with its contrast. The devices have an extremely funny bright red backlight. When driving at dusk, the scale with a bloody outline looks funny and cheerful.

Article on the topic: Lifan Breeze 520 owner reviews all disadvantages

The design of the motor, on the one hand, is as standard as possible for this segment of motor vehicles; on the other hand, there is a complete list of all the benefits and additions on board right from the factory. The four-stroke single-barrel with a displacement of 249 cm3 is equipped with a forged piston, a cylinder with a low-friction coating, just one camshaft and two valves. Combined cooling - the cylinder is cooled by incoming air flows, the oil is additionally cooled using a small radiator placed upward. Starting with an electric starter. Electronic injection is responsible for preparing the air-fuel mixture. The engine produces 21 hp. With. at 8000 rpm and 20.5 Nm at 6500 rpm, which is not bad at all with a curb weight of 154 kg. But performance characteristics in this case are not the main thing. Much more important is that this power unit is in a certain sense invincible. A simple Japanese single-cylinder “meat grinder” is designed to withstand extremely difficult operating conditions under an extremely careless owner. The liquid in a rather large 19-liter tank can burn – and thank you for that. It must be assumed that the service interval of 5000 km is aimed largely at maintaining valve clearances within acceptable limits and preventing consumables from completely turning sour.

In operation, the motor is crackling and rattling, but within the framework of its design features. In other words, it's normal! It’s not normal that after launch, thousands of bees hidden in plastic are salting it from all sides. That one, apparently, is fixed so fluidly that it vibrates on its own in every way. In some places this is obvious and solvable; specifically, the most annoying, acrid buzzing itch in the area of the exhaust pipe was never localized by me.

The maximum speed according to the speedometer is 140–145 km/h. The figures are difficult, but guaranteed in any wind direction. Each time you have to be patient, stifle your yawns, while at the same time not forgetting to tuck in the gears, one after another, of which there are only five. After 120 km/h the engine vibrates and twists noticeably and very unpleasantly. Maintaining maximum speed for more than 10 minutes is like rushing towards the unknown in a massage chair turned on to maximum. The pleasure is doubtful! Speeds of up to 120 km/h, on the contrary, are well suited to the capabilities of the chassis. The motorcycle in such non-critical modes begins to give pleasure. In the range of 40–80 km/h, you can always feel a pleasant thrust, which, albeit in a relatively toy manner, gives a feeling of acceleration and links the movement of the throttle with the rotation of the wheels. If you place the small Fazer 250 in cramped conditions, due to the contrast you can even feel some assertiveness and swiftness of the small-capacity motorcycle.

Article on the topic: Mitsubishi Space Star owner reviews

It must be admitted that with the design of the braking system, the manufacturer slightly covered the functionality of the missing safety systems. Disc brakes at the front (disc with a diameter of 282 mm, two-piston caliper) and a drum brake at the rear (drum with a diameter of 130 mm) give a feeling of security and control of the situation up to exactly 100 km/h, and then they trigger the instinct of self-preservation. In order to feel comfortable both at 120 km/h and at 140 km/h, you have to cheat quite a bit - operate the controls with lightning speed and give yourself a fair amount of help from the engine, clicking down one or two gears at a time.

Judging the chassis of a particular motorcycle is highly dependent on the bias and training level of the rider. I’ll say right away – there’s nothing particularly to be excited about here. The frame, which is not the most rigid, rests on the asphalt with 17-inch wheels due to a non-adjustable telescopic fork with 37 mm feathers and a monoshock absorber on progression links with five-level adjustment of the spring preload. Front wheel travel is 120 mm, rear wheel travel is also 120 mm.

While a slightly more advanced suspension simply needs to stay out of the way in emergency situations, the Phaser's suspension ideally needs a little help. Work your body, sometimes get up from your seat and try to avoid the most tooth-breaking bumps. In nine cases out of ten, the suspension of small-capacity vehicles is slightly over-clamped. The Yamaha Fazer 250 strictly falls into the majority. The logic of the manufacturers is simple - jelly and excessive softness will not hold up under conditions of barbaric exploitation. The motorcycle will nod and belly flop on uneven surfaces when overloaded. And in target regions (Asia, Africa, Latin America), it is difficult to outdo drivers in trying to take away their entire large family, along with interior items and pets, on one motorcycle. Therefore, one should clearly not complain about insufficient feedback during the motorcycle racing style of piloting “move aside, my house is on fire.” If under you the Fazer 250 begs for mercy every time, then you either made a mistake in choosing a motorcycle, or misunderstood what utilitarianism means.

Conclusion

Despite its considerable primitiveness, the Yamaha YS 250 Fazer left a pleasant aftertaste. The main thing it has is meaning. Everything else in this case is somewhat secondary. Everything, but not the cost. According to the developers' plans, the baby "Phaser" should cost a little more than a good bicycle. But, alas, the overvalued Russian ruble thinks differently. We have not yet grown up with the average motorcycle beginner who, all other things being equal, will not run to the nearest gateway to buy a well-worn “Jixer” for the same price. It's a pity... 250 cm3 for 21 liters. With. – a good foundation for a novice user who is not experienced in high speeds. Freedom is not in cubic capacity! And skill is not always measured in seconds, horsepower and newtons.

  4. On the right side of the bike, along the side, there is a “can” of the exhaust system with linings.
  5. The brake light is transparent and has the shape of a triangle.

Yamaha has preserved its old traditions in this model, releasing an outwardly solid motorcycle model in a classic design. Bikers with a license of open category A1 can drive such a vehicle. The Phaser has good cross-country ability, which makes it a universal motorcycle. Suitable for both urban conditions and off-road driving.

Fourth generation. It's getting steeper and steeper...

Due to strange circumstances, the new model, the 4th generation Yamaha YBR 125, is not for sale in Russia.
You can only buy a Euro, produced from 2010 to 2016, with mileage, from Japan or Europe. This problem does not stop 125 fans. The price for a 2016 motorcycle without mileage in the Russian Federation is approximately 150,000.00 rubles. Not that much money for a dream. I was lucky to drive a 2013 125 a couple of times, which my neighbor brought from Japan this spring. Having admired the Yamaha YBR 125 photo enough, studied the innovations on the forums far and wide, I got on the motorcycle with a little excitement.

Of course, it differs from previous models, primarily in its more cheerful design and more ergonomic and durable plastic. On the subject of Yamaha YBR 125 technical specifications, number 4, which spark everyone's curiosity:

  • an injector has appeared, making starting easier at any temperature,
  • added gear engaged indicator,
  • a choke button was placed on the steering wheel,
  • added a glove compartment under the seat
  • the leading star has undergone changes,
  • the brakes and the appearance of the rear turn signals have been improved,
  • the front brake became two-piston.

Yamaha Fazer 250 – handling

The Fazer 250 is suitable not only for experienced bikers, but also for beginners. This is a lightweight bike with excellent handling. The movement on it is smooth and even. The motorcycle is obedient, its driver will feel one with the vehicle during trips.

The motorcycle handles perfectly not only in sunny weather, but also in precipitation. It doesn't skid even for beginners when turning. A modern dashboard located in the maximum visibility zone on the steering wheel helps to monitor the state of transport. The bike has an analog tachometer and a high-contrast LCD screen. The panel also includes a fuel level indicator and a mileage counter.

On the roads, the Phaser is visible even in the dark thanks to its large turn signals and LED headlight. Good visibility is provided by head optics. And thanks to the hydraulic caliper, the bike brakes smoothly, even with high acceleration. Stability at speed is ensured by a steel frame enclosing the small engine, as well as a lightweight, rigid rear wheel swingarm with monocross suspension and durable shock absorbers.

The main advantages of the motorcycle

Excellent handling

Thanks to its light weight, low power and good brakes, the Yamaha YBR 125 (photo below) is one of the best options for beginner bikers. In a city where there is little space, you can easily pass between cars in traffic jams. The acceleration dynamics of this motorcycle are good enough to accelerate confidently. By the way, many motorcycle schools use this particular motorcycle when teaching their students basic driving skills. This device is able to forgive a beginner the mistakes that he will definitely make, and the consequences of these mistakes will not be as serious as, for example, on the Yamaha P1.

Reliable technology

The YBR 125 device is quite simple, which is why it is reliable; you have to try hard to disable this motorcycle. The design of the motorcycle is simple, even a beginner will be able to figure out what is where and in case of a breakdown, he will almost immediately determine what exactly has failed. There is a single-barrel engine, which has long been tested by time, a Mikuni VM22 carburetor, and a 5-speed gearbox. This motorcycle can be easily started using a pushrod or a kick starter if the battery suddenly runs out.

Economical engine

What’s good about Yobrik (that’s what the Yamaha YBR 125 is called among bikers) is its low gasoline consumption - 3-4 liters per 100 km. The tank holds 12 liters, so many motorcyclists refuel once a week; if you calculate, 12 liters of gasoline will be enough for about 400 kilometers. For comparison, there are savings even on oil: 1 liter of oil must be poured into the crankcase of a Yamaha YBR 125, and 2.9 liters of oil must be poured into a Honda SV400. In addition, the transport tax will be significantly less for a 10-horsepower motorcycle with a capacity of 125 cc than for motorcycles with a larger volume.

Patency

The Yamaha YBR 125 will be able to drive even where there is no asphalt, for example, on a dirt road, field, and stones. Of course, this motorcycle does not behave particularly well in mud, but it is rare that a motorcycle can drive through deep mud holes. Thanks to its light weight, the YBR 125 can even be carried by hand if it fails to pass.

But nothing prevents you from putting serious tires on the Yamaha, and then the motorcycle will have more chances to successfully ride off-road. Of course, Yobrik won’t make an enduro, but the cross-country ability will still improve significantly. By the way, you shouldn’t jump on high slides and jumps on it, because the suspension may not hold up.

Ease of repair

The Yamaha YBR 125 is an unpretentious motorcycle; it can always be easily repaired. Parts for this motorcycle do not cost a lot of money, for example, even if you hit the front part and bend the fork, you can either replace it with a new one or straighten it. In both options, repairs will not require a large amount of money. If you install protective arcs on it, it will become practically indestructible.

Many beginners, while learning, often fall on their side, and the headlight fairing, which is made of plastic, often breaks, so many more experienced motorcyclists have replaced the standard headlight with a round one. Today there are a sufficient number of stores where you can find all the spare parts for the Yamaha YBR 125 at competitive prices.

It’s better not to fall on a motorcycle while riding, but if this happens, then on Ebrik the fall will not be very expensive, for example, even on 400 cc motorcycles, each fall can cost significant costs, because such motorcycles themselves are more expensive, and also repairs and spare parts for them will also cost a lot of money. In short, the larger the volume of the motorcycle, the more spare parts and their installation will cost. If you drive carefully, don’t fall or get into accidents, then the Yamaha YBR 125 will serve for a very long time without breakdowns, and if any accident happens, it will be inexpensive to repair this device.

Liquidity

These motorcycles are always in demand among motorcyclists. A new Yamaha YBR 125 motorcycle can be purchased for about 82-85 thousand rubles, and a used motorcycle, with low mileage, but in good condition, can be bought for 50-55 thousand rubles. This means that there will be no problems with the sale if suddenly, after gaining riding experience, you decide to switch to a more serious motorcycle.

, thank you, of course, but I don’t need the equipment yet, I just can’t find the money for it! That's why I'm not even asking the price! I’ll try to strengthen the biker jacket, maybe the motorcycle jacket will ride! Anyone can buy a helmet! Instead of motorcycle bots, I think they’ll wear combat boots, pants - jeans with knee pads!

PS: don’t judge strictly, I just don’t have the money, I’ll be careful and buy it at the first opportunity!

Uhhh. Of course, I’m completely “zero” in motorcycles, but about the equipment - you’re in vain. as the guy from the motorcycle shop told me - if you have 3 bucks, spend one and a half on equipment, a grand on the motorcycle, and 500 on the motorcycle school : - ) .

(By the way, it’s been a long time since I raced on a drag race, and I was wearing a helmet.)

By the way, I can present (for advice on motorcycles: - )))))) Stingrey shoulder pads. Sew it into your leather jacket. at least something .

And Ishsho. The boots won't last. I’m telling you this as a parachuting instructor. (Ash became embarrassed).

With normal contact of the legs with “hardness,” the ankle boots also turn out. Honestly. and I’m not talking about “side impact” or “clamping/flattening” at all.

having finished the flood. SO:

Nerv08-01-2006, 17:42 dat4 as if a couple of pitfalls will dissuade you from buying.

. and I wouldn’t write anything if it weren’t for a cup of coffee and a free half hour. And so, the stones for the studio: 1. Due to the small volume and highly accelerated engine, the resource is low. 2. Due to the high-speed motor and its small cubic capacity. The operating range of the motor is in the high speed zone. In other words, the engine begins to push with enviable enthusiasm when the needle is closer to the red zone. 3. Due to the small cubic capacity, riding with a passenger is not very pleasant, the dynamics of the motorcycle disappear before your eyes, and in general, every extra kilogram is not easy for the “CHEKUSHKA”. 4. Motorcycle gearbox, Yamaha. Here you just need to understand that this is a Yamaha, and comments are probably unnecessary.

And then, in the minuses there are pluses. Due to the small engine volume, the engine is made quite light, and then the entire motorcycle. Which actually gives noticeable advantages in the city crowd. I can’t say anything about controllability, interchangeability of parts, and rigidity of the chassis design. Haven't tried it

And outwardly, he's crazy

For complete beginners, the bike is just right. Of course, this is not a 125 cc asshole, but after a motor scooter. ZIL will bore you within a month. Besides, 1992, 16 years old, didn’t seem to be completely bad. Take a fresher one, 400 cubic meters. I rode it during my service in the Far East, when the owner, the commander of the warhead-5, was drinking or sick. I remember that I gave up trying to catch neutral.

Japanese Zeal text: Artyom Drozdov, Tver Yamaha Zeal:

It took a long and hard time to acquire a Japanese foreign car. Firstly, it was not so easy to collect the required amount, even for a second-hand device. Secondly, due to this, I couldn’t decide on a model. What we liked in terms of design and characteristics was seriously out of budget. Finally, in the spring I managed to successfully sell the Ural and went to Moscow to buy a “Japanese” - then I decided to settle on the Yamaha SRX400. But the capital's motorcycle shops greeted me with almost empty shelves: inexpensive devices had already been dismantled, leaving either trash or unpopular models. I won’t tell you what torment this search cost me. I didn’t want to return home without a motorcycle. And one of the visitors helped me get out of this stalemate. He came to pick up consumables, heard my questions to the seller and began asking me questions. Having delved into the situation, he advised me to pay attention to the 250 cc Yamaha Zeal. At first I didn’t even understand what kind of ZIL this was. We laughed at the consonance of the names, and he told us more about the model - his girlfriend had driven one before.

I sat behind the wheel and looked from the side... So what? Cute device! And how did I not look at it before? The only thing that confused me was the cubic capacity, but 40 hp. The passport promised a lot. The same SRX400 has less. In general, I gave the deposit, took a ride around the salon - I liked it. And I bought it.

I drove along and was amazed at the “Japanese” all the way. This is necessary, no matter how old the motorcycle is, but it “flies” like a bullet! No comparison with sow cycles. And what brakes! You can slow down down to the millimeter. It’s just that the front “telescope” seemed to me to be too soft (as it turned out later, the seals and oil had to be changed), but otherwise it’s just super! I didn't regret buying it.

Almost our entire party met me at home. At first they were surprised at my choice, they said that it would not be enough. But when I tore up the same SRX400 with Honda Bros in the first race, they appreciated it. So from a “Uralist” with dirty hands, I turned into a motorcyclist. I even had to seriously update my wardrobe.

The model clearly has more advantages than disadvantages. Light weight and base allow you to make quick lane changes on the road. The four-cylinder engine is loud and revvy, the main power output is around 10,000–12,000 rpm. Comfortable seating, and even a passenger seat is provided. But you shouldn’t put it on it - the ZIL immediately runs out of steam and doesn’t hold up. The dynamics are quite enough for me (especially up to 100 km/h), but after 120 km/h it’s as if it’s hitting an invisible wall - it accelerates, of course, but very slowly. Soft suspensions are good on our asphalt, but the rear pendulum starts to jump when making sharp turns. However, as I understand it, this is a feature of most classics.

There were no breakdowns during the season, I changed the oil, filters and pads. Next up is the tires - cracked sidewalls are dangerous and do not hold up on wet roads. I installed a more powerful bulb in the headlight, under xenon. It has become much better both in terms of passive safety and illumination.

When they ask me what I drive now, I proudly answer: “On a ZIL!” Almost no one understands this joke, but it makes fun of me. The model is really not very widespread among us, and it’s a pity that only a few recognized its advantages. Perhaps my opinion will help someone when choosing a budget “Japanese”.

Which motorcycle should I switch to after the Yamaha YBR 125?

Yamaha YBR 125 will give you riding experience, after some time riding this motorcycle it will become clear what the next motorcycle will be like. For those who like to ride at high speeds, a sports bike such as the Honda CBR600 is a better choice.

For those who prefer long trips on a motorcycle, you should choose a touring device such as the Honda XL 650 Transalp. For those who like to mix dirt, as well as those who like to ride off-road, just need to change to an enduro, there are many interesting models, such as the Honda XR 250. And those who are more inspired by a quiet ride around the city, then a chopper such as the Honda is best suited Shadow 750. Honda motorcycles were presented purely as an example, but you can also choose analogs from other brands.

As you understand, everyone has their own tastes and preferences, so these features will pop up while riding, but still, the first motorcycle must be a simple version like the Yamaha YBR 125.

Below is a video of how the guys ride the YBR 125:

And finally, a video review about the Yamaha YBR 125:

By purchasing a Yamaha Fazer 150, you get several motorcycles in one

  • Firstly, this is a small city bike that is ideal for taking you from home to work and back. Moreover, this movement will be as fast and comfortable as possible. Are you a car enthusiast and are you tired of constant traffic jams? — Change to the Yamaha Fazer 150 and forget about them!
  • Secondly, this is an easy and dynamic street that will allow you to have an interesting evening or weekend. What could be better than consuming kilometers of city or country roads while driving the glorious successor to the Fazer family?
  • Thirdly, this is simply a beautiful motorcycle that will leave few people indifferent. Parked on a busy street, it is as eye-catching as a brand new Ferrari.

And there will be a hole in the old woman

Yamaha YBR 125 review of identified jambs. Let's start with the tires: the standard "Sakura" on models up to the third generation left much to be desired. During emergency braking at high speed, both wheels drag. The contact area with the road is very small. Therefore, the tires were changed to Michelin a week later. The ebrik holds the road much more confidently, both asphalt and dirt road. Simply great! By the way, since 2008, the motorcycle began to be equipped with five-spoke wheels and tubeless tubes.

It’s better not to fall on the Yamaha YBR 125. The first fall cost me three thousand rubles. The plastic shattered into pieces. Too fragile and unreliable, like the included tool. Screwdrivers break on first contact. It’s better to immediately assemble your own reliable kit.

The standard brake, in my opinion, deserves only a solid “3”. Emergency braking at maximum speed is possible, but only with experience, and only if you're lucky. Within a month, I replaced the flimsy original one with a reinforced brake hose.

The gearbox lug must be taken care of and tightened constantly. Otherwise it will get lost. From the second generation of ebricks, the problem was eliminated by changing the location of the paw. I had to tighten it every week until I had it redone over the winter. The box itself works flawlessly, and, in general, there are no particular complaints about the transmission. Only the chain constantly stretches and asks for replacement after 7,000 kilometers. In models since 2008, an oil seal chain appeared, its resource is indicated up to 18,000 km.

Autumn came, the Yamaha YBR 125 carburetor began to act up. As the temperature dropped it was difficult to start. The closer it got to the cold, the more problems became. The Japanese solved this problem, and in the third generation, since 2008, the ebrik received a new heated Mikuni VM22 carb.

Weak points, of course, were also found in the chassis. The front fork of the motorcycle breaks in places, causing the motorcycle to peck and dangle along the road. On the advice of experienced comrades, I filled the shock absorber with 15W oil and installed two additional valve springs from the VAZ engine. Now, from pit to pit, the shock absorber manages to decompress and adequately accepts the load even with the second number. I will give a table by year of production of 125s, it may be useful.

  1. 2004 – 2006 - first generation
  2. 2007–2009 – second generation
  3. 2009 – 2010 – third generation
  4. 2010 – to date – fourth generation
