The best Chinese enduro for 150,000 rubles! Motoland WRX250 Lite WFA

has been supplying Chinese motorcycles like Motoland XR 250 to the Russian market for many years, offering customers products from different manufacturers under its own brand. And this is good, because the dealer controls the quality of the equipment and also fulfills all warranty obligations. However, the owners of this lightweight 250cc enduro are unlikely to often file warranty claims, because, as practice shows, the bike is highly reliable. And this is doubly surprising given its modest price .

Design

What design delights can you expect from an off-road bike, especially a Chinese one? Even five times more expensive “Japanese” ones look ascetic, let alone motorcycles from China. And the Motoland XR 250 Enduro motorcycle is no exception to the rule. One look at him is enough to understand that his element is not city streets, but country roads, forests and fields . And its design, by the way, is well thought out, so even if it falls, the chance that the motorcycle will be damaged is minimal. The engine is protected by roll bars, the exhaust does not protrude to the side, and the plastic is flexible and durable.

Flaws

Brakes

If everything is generally good with the engine and suspension on the Motoland WRX250 Lite WFA motorcycle, then where did you save? And we saved money, first of all, on the brakes. The rear brakes either do not brake or are immediately blocked. No information content. And the fact that the brake foot was installed under the footrest once again proves that the manufacturer understands little about off-road motorcycles. Not only does it reduce ground clearance, but the brake also jams when grass and branches get between the foot and the frame. As for the front brakes, they are weak and ineffective. In order to go down a steep slope, you need to press the brake with all your fingers. Thank you, at least they are not blocked. I hope replacing the brake caliper with a Brembo copy will help the situation at least a little.

Technical characteristics of Motoland XR 250

We can say that they correspond to the price. The bike doesn’t have enough stars in the sky, but it feels confident both off-road and on asphalt, so even in the company of friends riding Japanese motorcycles, the owner of the Motoland 250 Enduro will not feel vulnerable. Its technical characteristics allow it to keep on par with its famous competitors, and in some cases, even ahead of more powerful and heavier devices.

Engine

The Motoland Enduro XR250 motorcycle is equipped with a 1-cylinder 4t air-cooled engine , simple but reliable. Power - 16 hp , maximum speed - 120 km/h . The engine loves high revs, but there is also traction in the lower and middle ranges, which is critical for an off-road bike.

Transmission

Engineers from the Middle Kingdom equipped the XR250 Enduro with a standard 5-speed gearbox , interlocked with the engine in a single unit. It works properly, a little harshly, but you can get used to it in a day or two. The first three gears are short, so you will have to change them often.

Chassis and brakes

Taking a conventional steel frame , the designers equipped the Motoland XR 250 with simple suspensions without any adjustments - a monoshock absorber with a pendulum at the rear, a telescopic fork at the front. But the suspensions have significant free play, and they are enough even for aggressive off-road driving. The brakes didn’t let us down either - a hydraulic system with brake discs .

Electronics

There are no complex electronic components in the XR250 Enduro. All wiring is connected to a switch located under the seat, and if necessary, understanding it will not be difficult. Of course, there is an electric starter, but the good news is that the motorcycle is also equipped with a kickstarter. It is advisable to use a gel battery instead of an acid one, since the latter are afraid of falls, which can damage them.

Weight and dimensions

The Motoland 250 Enduro has adult dimensions and weighs about 125 kg . If you put it next to some Honda or Kawasaki of the same class, it will not be easy to find visual differences between Chinese and Japanese bikes. The seat height is significant, but most riders are unlikely to have problems getting their feet to the ground.

Controllability

The ability to handle the bike off-road when your feet are in the mud is very important for enduro. The Motoland Enduro XR250 motorcycle is good in this regard - the center of mass is located low , and you can fearlessly tilt it to significant limits; the point of no return from the vertical is greatly deviated. The steering angle is relatively small, so the steering wheel is unlikely to slip out of your hands and lock in the turned position, causing you to fall.

Fuel consumption

The gasoline consumption declared by the manufacturer is 3.5 liters of AI-92 per 100 km . This figure is real, but only if the Motoland XR 250 Enduro motorcycle is used on the roads and not off them. In extreme conditions, fuel consumption increases by one and a half to two times. But the volume of the gas tank is as much as 9 liters , and this is enough even for long trips.

Repair and tuning

There are no problems finding everything you need, and anyone can learn to understand the design of a motorcycle on their own. If you don’t have the time or desire to do everything yourself, any motorcycle service center can help you. All budget Chinese motorcycles are more or less similar from a design point of view, and in this case this is a significant plus.

Repair

Breakdowns sometimes happen, but they are minor. Owner reviews mention unreliable standard throttle and clutch cables, which it is advisable to replace with higher quality analogues. In any case, thanks to its simple design, you can always repair a motorcycle on your own, even if you do not have much experience in motor repairs.

Spare parts

Many spare parts are suitable from other Chinese motorcycles. Motorcycle manufacturers from China often use the same components, copied from each other, and this makes it easier to find the necessary parts. But dealers usually have them in stock, and they are inexpensive.

Tuning

Apparently, no one has yet done deep tuning of this model. The Motoland XR 250 Enduro motorcycle is already quite good, so there is little point in improving it, especially since investing in a budget bike cannot be called practical. But Aliexpress has a lot of little things, like hand protection, improved light optics, covers for exhaust systems, and so on.

Is it worth taking and is this the best Chinese enduro for the money?

As already mentioned, the Motoland WRX250 Lite WFA motorcycle is made of compromise solutions. On one side of the scale, it has an excellent, albeit rather heavy engine, and a good suspension. Good rims, hubs, crossbars and steering wheels are also definitely a plus. But on the other side of the scale, there are frankly bad brakes and strange savings on some small things. For me, it would be better if they saved money on the dashboard, but installed anti-skids and normal brake pads and gearbox. But in general, all this is of course completed, without any problems. If desired, this motorcycle can be brought to an even chic state by replacing the brakes, installing a NIBBI RACING carburetor with a 34 mm diffuser, changing the rear suspension springs to a spring of the required stiffness. And of course, replacing all the shitty components with normal ones. And then, although this pepelats will rise in price, it will sparkle with new colors. It will enter the top Chinese league, but at the same time, it will still be cheaper than any of its competitors with 177MM engines. What do you think about this motorcycle, because 155,000 rubles for an almost top-end motorcycle and the best Chinese enduro in this price category is a very decent price. Is not it?

Motorcycle modifications

Motoland 250 Enduro is available in one and only version , if we talk specifically about this model. But dealers have in stock a lightweight cross-country version Lite , which is a cross-country modification without lighting optics and a title, so, alas, it is prohibited from driving on public roads. At the same time, the difference in price between both modifications does not exceed $300, so choosing a “cross bike” solely for reasons of economy is not a good idea.

Advantages and disadvantages

Don't judge a budget bike too harshly. It should be compared with competitors in the same price segment, and not with Japanese and European analogues that are many times more expensive. And compared to other Chinese motorcycles, the XR250 Enduro looks very respectable.

Advantages

  • Overall survivability . Motoland Enduro XP 250 is not afraid of falls - it is created with a significant margin of safety.
  • Economical . On normal paved roads, the range is 250-300 km without refueling.
  • Confident traction at low and medium speeds.
  • Absence of strong parasitic vibrations typical of many single-cylinder engines.

Flaws

  • When off-road, the engine sometimes overheats , especially if it is covered in dirt, which prevents normal cooling.
  • Many owners report an annoying exhaust sound .
  • The suspensions lack adjustments .
  • The dry weight of 120 kg is too large for a motorcycle in this class.

Well, friends. Here is a bad person who promised good posts, I’m back and I promise to improve. There will be a lot of text and pictures, since here is a brief history of my mutation into a sofa endurist and bringing the old necrocratic Honda XR250 into more or less decent shape. This is what the Honda looked like at the time of purchase:

She had clearly seen some shit in her life, which is not very surprising for a twenty-year-old enduropean, but she rode quite cheerfully. Almost all electronics, instrument panel and gauges worked. At that time, there were no other suitable options for me within the next 150 km, although I had already looked and tested the Kawasaki Super Sherpa and Yamaha TTR, and therefore decided to take it almost without looking - I wanted my own motorcycle too much, and the license I had just received and warm March provoked not the most thoughtful actions.

After driving around the city and the first test enduro ride (in the nearby fields, of course), some excessive consumption of gasoline was noticed; a little later we found out that the Honda consumes about 6.5 liters per hundred, which hinted at problems with the CPG or overflowing carburetor - usually in In this mode, the flow rate should be around 5 liters.

A couple of times we organized full-fledged enduro rides, the first of which turned into a wild mud mess after a series of downpours and jeepers finally finished off what semblance of a road was left.

(In the wild mountain forests of the Krasnodar region there are many jackals, so the quality is what it is)

PS - My friend’s “Teter” is the second “victim” in our trip.

Then there was the first “long-distance” trip in my life - 450 km to Crimea and the next day returning back. Then this distance seemed really huge, taking into account the lack of experience in driving on the highway (mountains don’t count, and the city doesn’t give such a feeling, it seems to me) and the completely inappropriate type of equipment and tires (my partner and I were on “toothy” off-road tires) .

(The way back, entering Kerch. My partner had something wrong with the clamp that secured the muffler, because of which part of the plastic was burned. “It was burnt,” so to speak. While it is being repaired, I help in every possible way, arrange a small photo shoot for my Honda and relax along the way. )

We actually drove for a VERY long time, because it so happened that instead of leaving at least at noon (my partner that day had to receive category A in the morning), we left after 7 pm, having spent about 12 hours at that time, either on the road or just in the heat while waiting for a driving test and then a replacement driver's license. At around 4 am we were near Feodosia, and there fatigue made itself felt. I managed to fall asleep while driving a motorcycle. Fortunately, it was a microsleep (for 3-5 seconds), but during this time I managed to move out of my lane into oncoming traffic, where miraculously there was no one at that moment. This became the very call that was mortally dangerous to ignore, so I drove to the nearest beach, threw my sleeping bag off the trunk and went to bed for about an hour. This rest was enough to return to a more or less adequate state and get to Simferopol.

The purpose of the trip was a bike festival in Sevastopol, where we left late in the evening, but almost immediately it began to rain - we didn’t have time to travel even 20 km, because of which we decided to return and not tempt fate. The next morning we set out on the way back (to Krasnodar), which was just as long and boring. Basically, except for my stupid fall at night (because of the rain, I didn’t notice the hole in the turn, where I hit with my front wheel and, as a result, fell on my side on an empty road at a speed of less than 20 km/h).

After a trip to Crimea, it was decided to work on Honda more closely, since before that it was purely “cosmetics”. Actually, this is what happened:

Front view, the main headlight is installed stock - so that there are no problems with the traffic police when registering (since the photo was taken at the end of the season before the sale). Side view.

Analysis of the engine showed a damaged piston and fairly large gaps in the cylinder, although for short trips this was not a problem. It didn’t consume any oil, and all that remained was to monitor the fuel - with a tank capacity of 9 liters, it was enough for ~150 km. If you have a can of gasoline that has settled on the trunk, it is quite tolerable. Since this was fraught with quite large expenses and downtime of the motorcycle in the service center where the bike was being serviced at that time, I decided to postpone it. Looking ahead, I will say that I never got around to working on the engine, because at the end of the season, my work colleague bought this Honda - and for almost a season and a half (not counting a couple of summer trips) it has been sitting in the garage awaiting repair of the CPG.

In principle, I almost didn’t touch the technical part and focused more on bringing the motorcycle into visual order so that it would be like a universal daily transport. I’ll say right away that this didn’t work out - you should either use an endurik for enduro and not bother about its appearance, or put it on road tires and ride in the city or, at most, on light off-road conditions, without getting into any mud and without falling.

In total, during the year of ownership the following was purchased and installed: - Seat cover (found only on ebay) - 4200 rubles including reupholstery. — Grips — 600 rub. — Universal round mirrors — 1200 rub. — Clutch and brake machines from aliexpress — 3445 rub. (Moreover, if the quality of the clutch machine was more or less acceptable, then the rubber gaskets in the brake reservoir were eaten up in 2 days, which is why I found myself in a very funny situation: in a “box” between trucks at a speed of ~70 km/h and without a front brake at all. Of course, I returned part of the money for them through a dispute, but it was still very unpleasant.) - Steering wheel protection - 2780 rubles. (In my opinion, this is one of the most useful purchases, because it saved my hands two or three times when I fell, plus the clutch and brake handles survived, which already justified the price of protection.) — Steering wheel — 1500 rubles. — A set of bolts for plastic in the color of the motorcycle — 675 RUR. (The most useless purchase - the quality of the Chinese metal is complete crap, literally one or two cycles of “unscrewing and tightening” and the edges were erased so much that instead of a hole for a hexagon, you got an almost perfectly round hole.) - RIF LED headlights - 5000 rubles. (20w - instead of the standard headlight, and 2x10w as additional “lights” that can be connected separately. The headlights installed very easily - there was no need to cut the plastic of the muzzle, since the Reef headlight was almost the same dimensions as the original one. Except perhaps a bracket was needed, which was made from a pair of steel strips. For enduro, the light turned out to be excellent, but since these are Jeeper diode headlights, they illuminate EVERYTHING, no focusing, and even if you lower the headlight as low as possible, then every second person blinked on the track anyway distant.) — Trunk — 3800r. (There is hardly any need for comments about how necessary a trunk is for enduro.) - Graphics - 7000 rubles in total. (On the XR forum I was lucky to find a complete set of layouts for the plotter, which allowed me to print everything I needed to wrap the motorcycle in the color I needed.)

Besides:

  • Spark plug replaced;
  • Brake fluid and oil replaced;
  • A new gearshift foot was installed instead of the worn one that came with the motorcycle;
  • Brake pads replaced;
  • The electrics were improved, the carburetor was cleaned and the valve clearances were adjusted, the timing chain and valve stem seals were replaced;
  • Battery replaced;
  • The tires were replaced (at the time of purchase there was a Dunlop MX51 with about 50% of the tread remaining, but since I thought of driving along the highway to Crimea and back (~1000 km) on off-road tires, it was almost completely consumed. In the end I installed the tougher MX71 );
  • An LED strip was inserted into the rear turn signals, which began to serve as side lights. Very useful at night in the city.

Bottom line: this was my first motorcycle, which gave me a HUGE experience both in terms of control and maintenance, since before that I, in fact, had nothing to do with equipment at all. There were a lot of mistakes, even starting from the fact that I bought almost the first option I came across and ended up investing almost half of its original cost in repairs and tuning.

But on the other hand, it's just money. And I sometimes appease the toad that strangles me with the thought that in this way I “bought” a lot of very useful knowledge and skills.

Several trips and a year of riding in the city showed that enduro as a daily motorcycle is not an option, and with a pure soul I sold the Honda, taking a road bike to replace it - a Yamaha XJR 400.

Owner reviews

A strong and tenacious moto, he was in an accident, he was in full gear, flew to the side of the road, and the moto somersaulted about twenty meters on the asphalt, without a collision. The plastic was worn and cracked slightly in one place, but didn’t even burst! The clutch handle broke off, the grips were chipped, the engine cover was scratched, but after that the motor drove home under its own power, and then no problems emerged. The Chinese have finally learned how to make normal endurics that don’t fall to pieces after a fall. Oleg, Moscow.

I’ve already done two full seasons, I’m happy with everything, I don’t want to increase the cubic capacity. I’m thinking of buying a 600cc sports car of some kind, but for rides I’ll leave the XR250, a decent machine for the money. In terms of reliability, everything is ok, nothing breaks, but there is a chance of overheating if you crawl through the forest for a long time in first or second gear. But the engine is air, it’s impossible not to feel overheating, it starts to fry brutally. Grigory, Pskov.

Cheerful moped, I tore off the family stickers - now everyone thinks it’s Japanese)) But in reality, it doesn’t differ in appearance from Japs at all, it sounds the same, the sizes are also adult. It moves confidently, is not afraid of dirt, in winter I will put new tires on the wheels and try the bike in the snowdrifts)) Vasily, Minsk.

Communities › Around the wheel (motorcycles, ATV, jet skis) › Blog › Nexus XT250

Good day to all! I bought a Nexus XT250 motorcycle in June 2015 for 60,000 rubles. I used to drive Izhas, Javas, etc. the last time in 2001. I have traveled 600 km to date, in my opinion the price/quality exceeds expectations. Mostly asphalt and a little through the forest (light off-road). I ran it in gentle mode. From the very beginning I stretched everything, tied up and crimped all the wires, changed the oil at 50,300,500 km. MOTUL oil. Adjusted the carburetor. Bleeded the brakes. The chain is original, in principle it has not yet stretched, I regularly lubricate it with lubricant from a chain can. Several times the chain fell off in the forest when small branches got under it, I put it on without any problems, rolling the reel back. The original tires drive quite well on asphalt and hard ground, but very poorly on grass, in mud and loose ground. For trips through the forest I took a Kenda 19″ 70/100-19 K771F TT 42M for the front and a Kenda 17″ 4.60-17 K270 4PR TT 61P for the rear. The rear wheel rides great on gravel, broken asphalt, mud and sand. In front it’s the same, only you have to constantly fish on the sand (walks), perhaps because it’s too narrow. Overall I'm happy with the motorcycle. It drives fine, both on asphalt and dirt. I also ordered engine protection from Stels Enduro 250, I’ll install it in a week. If there are owners of these or similar motorcycles, please tell me: 1. How to change the oil in the fork, and what kind to fill (it seems to me that the fork has started to work worse, most likely the oil there is of very poor quality) 2. Who installed 100/90 off-road tires on the front R19 and which ones, does it stand up normally, does it touch or not, how does it behave on different surfaces, are there any other replacement options. 3. Rear shock absorber, who changed it to something better. 4. No one thought to install protective bars, what are they suitable for or maybe there is a drawing of homemade ones. Thanks in advance for your answers!

Whose production is this device from?

I have a similar racer 200, I’m also happy with it, I also want to put on different tires, otherwise it can’t cope with off-road conditions, it skids and skids (herringbone pattern), there were annoying falls (((

Conclusion

The Motoland XR 250 Enduro is definitely worth the money - dealers are asking less than $1,500 for a brand new bike. And its quality is quite good; it is devoid of many shortcomings typical of budget motorcycles made in China. You may still have to put your hands to it, but we can say with confidence that this motorcycle does not fall apart on the move and does not bother the owner with regular breakdowns. And off-road it feels great , and is practically not inferior to more expensive Japanese analogues, which, even in heavily used condition, are more expensive than the brainchild of Motoland.
