RX-1 MTX: Yamaha's Most Powerful Snowmobile

Yamaha Corporation's work is based on the principle that any of its products meet all modern requirements of technical standards. To achieve this, all new models of motorcycles are equipped with the most unique units, produced with repeated control of all technological processes.

A striking example of the company’s technical policy is the RX-1 MTX model, which has a lightweight snowmobile chassis, an adjustable plastic ski base, a track equipped with anti-slip hooks, and track wheels equipped with easily replaceable bearings.

The RX-1 engine is four-stroke, liquid-heated, liter in volume. The snowmobile's consumption, as can be concluded from reviews of its owners, is 18 liters per 100 km. If we take into account the lower oil consumption compared to two-stroke engines, and the electronic ignition system with digital control, as well as the ability to use low-octane gasoline AI-92, then walking on this snowmobile can be called economical.

Snowmobile equipped:

  • low profile windshield;
  • steering wheel with curved ends;
  • reliable mountain sling;
  • wide footrests with a reliable supporting surface;
  • 10-position grip heater;
  • tachometer;
  • speedometer;
  • trip counter;
  • fuel level indicator.

The chassis, equipped with new customizable suspensions, allows the snowmobile to successfully overcome virgin snow and mountain climbs. The front suspension is independent, double wishbone and the rear suspension is variable angle (model Pro Mountain162). The shock absorbers in the suspensions are hydraulic.

The brake system is hydraulic (4-piston aluminum caliper) with a lightweight aluminum disc. Parking brake: mechanical, with adjustable lever. Thus, Yamaha, using technical innovations, makes traveling on a snowmobile not only interesting, but also safe.

Frame

The relatively light weight of the snowmobile was achieved by lightening the frame. The materials used to make it are durable but lightweight. Every climb up a mountain hill or just a hill is easy for the snowmobile and without problems.

In addition, the Yamaha rx 1 mtx 162 snowmobile is equipped with:

  • low profile windshield;
  • steering wheel with curved handles;
  • reliable mountain sling;
  • heated handles;
  • tachometer;
  • speedometer;
  • trip counter;
  • indicator of the fuel level in the tank.

Comfortable seats and a removable backrest for the passenger will turn the trip into great entertainment for everyone.

It will be winter. It will be hot

By the way, snowmobiling is a great way to warm yourself. In this parameter, tracked ski equipment is significantly ahead of such folk methods as bathhouse, vodka, accordion and... And it is only inferior to communication with the opposite sex, with whom, however, it does not compete.

So, gentlemen, Yamaha presents: a parade of generators of winter pleasures, our “summer winter - winter summer” or, more simply, snowmobiles of the 2006 model year. We met some representatives of this glorious family at the end of last winter (see “Wheels” No. 91, May 2005), but the Japanese saved a number of interesting new products for the beginning of the new season. Which aroused keen interest on our part.

Yamaha RX-1 GT

The most exclusive exclusive. The circulation is limited, the possibilities are endless. Yamaha engineers have come up with the best way to congratulate themselves (and us at the same time) on the company's fiftieth anniversary. Aggressive design, guards on the handles and no sign of a windshield.

Thoroughbred rider. One and a half hundred horses packed into four cylinders of the updated Genesis engine are putting all their strength into ensuring that the three-meter caterpillar regularly sprays snow into atoms. However, power is not the only advantage of the anniversary new product.

Suspension is Yamaha's main weapon. She has been beating her rivals in MotoGP with this weapon for many years now, but she doesn’t intend to let anyone downhill on the snow either. Together with Ohlins engineers, Yamaha taught the rear suspension of a snowmobile to change its properties at the will of the rider, directly while driving. At the touch of a button, the characteristics of the gas-filled shock absorber change to suit your needs and the condition of the surface. Of course, for this you need to think with your head. So what – Yamaha engineers have been thinking for five decades!

The front suspension is not so technologically advanced, but it is also adjustable. Convenient switches allow you to adjust the front shock absorbers (also Ohlins and also gas) according to the compression and rebound strokes.

Of course, only an experienced rider can appreciate all these subtleties. But, on the other hand, you can grow to this honorable status gradually. The main thing is not to regret the money spent, because for it you get a real exclusive. The circulation, again, is limited.

Yamaha RS Vector Bad Boy

This device will also not be produced forever. Despite the very aggressive color and racing design, it is not so demanding on the qualifications and wallet of the owner. And, in general, it fully lives up to its name. Not the American one - Nytro, but “ours” - Bad Boy. The release of this updated version of the Yamaha RS Vector is also a lifetime “self-monument”, like the RX-1 GT.

But, unlike the GT, the character of the “bad boy” is not smart and sporty, but rather cheeky and hooligan. For those who are too lazy to bother themselves with all sorts of electronic-pneumatic tricks. And the engine is more modest - Genesis 120. However, 120 hp. – this is no joke. An optimal fit, a steering wheel with curved handles (it’s very convenient to cling to them when hanging up) and a suspension – gas-filled struts at the front and a proven ProActive CK torsion bar at the rear – will help you cope with them. And it's not an exorbitant price. New Year is just around the corner.

Yamaha RX Warrior

Despite the name being already in use, the Yamaha RX Warrior is a completely new machine. Like its RX siblings, under its stylish hood, four pistons sequentially work out the four strokes of the Otto cycle. And at the same time they produce a hefty herd of one hundred and fifty horsepower.

The MonoShock RA rear suspension with remote adjustment allows you to adjust the rigidity of the gas monotube (and, accordingly, the acceleration at the pilot’s fifth point) in the range indicated by the words Max Hard and Max Soft. In collaboration with the front gas struts, this design gives the “warrior” excellent driving characteristics, which amazed us at the presentation of the car (see “Wheels” No. 91, May 2005) and made us dream of snow in the spring.

Yamaha VK Professional

This newcomer is also familiar to us. VK Professional is the complete antipode to the “driver” Yamaha models. Two seats, a long (almost four meters) track... The rear torsion bar suspension can lift the rear roller (and with it part of the track) when moving in reverse, which significantly increases the chances of capitulating with dignity after an unsuccessful assault on a snow fortress.

The front suspension is also “tailored” for cross-country ability – the ground clearance is increased thanks to curved arms. On the move, the Viking doesn’t excite, but it is incredibly stable and reliable - it’s not at all scary to climb into the most terrible gullies - it will definitely get out of them. A high-torque Genesis 120 engine, long-travel suspension, wide skis, a long track... And the ability to not notice irregularities is simply amazing.

Yamaha RS Rage

It seemed that there was absolutely nothing to improve in the design of this snowmobile - it seemed so balanced at first acquaintance (see “Wheels” No. 88, February 2005). But they, at Yamaha, know better. They can always make the footpegs more grippy, the engine more flexible, and the brakes “stronger.” The 2006 RS Rage gets a new rear suspension, bringing all the hardships the track will face to the MonoShock RA system previously seen only on RX Series racers.

The suspension itself is also not what it used to be. In the new year, she “lost weight” by 5.5 kg - there was less unsprung mass, and more pleasure from driving. In hard mode, the RS Rage jumps great. The main thing is not to touch your head to the windshield when landing.

Yamaha RS Vector ER

Find fifteen differences in the pictures. It’s easy to confuse the SR Vector ER with its RS series brother described above. In general, the cars are positioned close. If the RS Vector ER, thanks to its shorter track, is more dynamic, but does not like snowdrifts, then the RS Rage is more versatile. Like all representatives of the RS line, the driving force of the Vector is the three-cylinder Genesis 120 with one hundred and twenty “horses”.

And these horses, thanks to the aggressive tuning of the variator, have the opportunity to fully realize their considerable agility. The three-meter track is controlled by a MonoShock RA suspension with a gas shock absorber with variable stiffness.

Yamaha RS Venture TF

A real cruiser. Or rather, a pleasure yacht. The most comfortable seats, heated grips (even the passenger ones!), torsion bar rear suspension, almost four-meter long track - the RS Venture TF is simply created for hiking and traveling. You can travel alone - in this case, the passenger seat can be easily removed, and the free space can be used as a cargo area. The tuning of the CVT working in tandem with the traditional RS engine of the Genesis 120 is emphatically comfortable. The clutch is in no hurry to “grab” and allows you to delicately dose the thrust.

But we especially liked Ventura (see “Wheels” No. 88, February 2005) for its incredible ease of planing. This snowmobile moves through muddy snow as if there was a well-rolled surface under the skis and track. And a slight roll seems to be a more than moderate price to pay for comfort.

What are the advantages of this model

Snowmobiles from Yamaha have always stood out among all the others, they are characterized by a spectacular design and excellent technical performance. This model has a number of advantages that set it apart from others:

  • low fuel consumption at maximum loads;
  • excellent performance when climbing hills;
  • virgin snow with fresh snow is not an obstacle;
  • relatively inexpensive price.

It is worth understanding that equipment with the same performance from American or Canadian manufacturers will be more expensive.

Owner reviews

I bought the Snowflake from this manufacturer with mileage, manufactured in 2008, but it still runs great. There were no problems with the operation of the engine, everything was very simple, I put on a helmet, took my license and drove through the snow. The only thing I noticed is that I don’t recommend skiing on a groomed track, it’s better to take it a little to the side, this way you can cool the slips.

I love the drive and especially driving on loose snow. The Yamaha rx 1 mtx 162 snowmobile is ideal for this; the machine will take up any slope without any problems, climb any hill in a matter of minutes, and ride perfectly over rough terrain. The mountain version has shown itself only from the best side, I’ve been having fun with it for more than two years now and everything still works like clockwork.
