TOP-3 representatives of the Arctic Cat snowmobile model range (Arctic Cat)

The Arctic Cat Bearcat 660 snowmobile is a class of modern utilitarian machines that, in addition to regular riding, also serve to perform various household tasks in the winter season. This machine has a fairly high traction force, a strong and reliable frame, good suspension settings, and, what is also important, the efficiency of the power plant.

Almost all products of the American manufacturer Arctic Cat are positioned on Russian markets as reliable and at the same time affordable motorcycle equipment. The Bearcat series of snowmobiles alone is proof of this. Many owners of certain models of snowmobiles from this manufacturer have repeatedly stated that they simply cannot find better cars in this price segment. And indeed, since the equipment has quite excellent performance characteristics: sufficient power of the power unit, high maneuverability, excellent maneuverability and reliability of all components, assemblies, and the design itself.

The main advantages of the Arctic Cat 660 snowmobile are:

    1. Excellent handling and stability on almost any surface.
    2. High engine power performance.
    3. Use of new modern types of suspension (front suspension type AWS VII and rear suspension type Articulating are used).
    4. The components used are proven by various tests and time of operation.
    5. High quality of all components and the snowmobile assembly itself.

Perhaps it’s worth highlighting the car’s suspension separately. The snowmobile uses a modern AWS VII type suspension, which the manufacturer has supplemented with dual hydraulic shock absorbers. Thanks to this solution, it was possible to significantly reduce the level of vibration when moving on snowy surfaces, which to some extent also affects comfort. The Articulating rear suspension has a Torque Sensing Link type rear suspension, thanks to which the driver can fully control the torque of the car, which is very useful when towing any loads. The rear suspension also includes torsion springs, which can be adjusted to suit certain operating conditions. Taken together, this entire design provides truly quite comfortable conditions and ease of control of the snowmobile.

The snowmobile is also equipped with a direct drive system such as ACT DiamondDirectDrive, which helps to significantly reduce the loss of energy transmitted by the power plant. There is a 264 mm roller pulley with a fairly huge service life and an impressive margin of safety.

As for the snowmobile brakes, the manufacturer did a great job. The snowmobile can be stopped almost immediately both on an inclined surface and at high speed. This is due to the fact that there is a brake disc located on the shaft and one axial type brake cylinder.

The engine is started by means of an electric starter, but emergency starting is also provided. It is worth noting that it is quite easy to start the power plant even in the most severe conditions. The snowmobile itself can operate properly in frosts of minus 50 degrees, since the engine has its own heating.

Arctic Cat 660 is designed for two people, however, if necessary, you can literally remove the passenger seat in a matter of seconds. This will not only increase the area of the cargo platform, but also use the removed seat as a comfortable chair, which is often observed among fishermen.

The standard equipment of a snowmobile contains a fairly large amount of various equipment, namely a fuel level sensor, tachometer, trip meter, odometer, reverse, electric starter, two mirrors, a double seat, a tow bar, a speedometer, an oil level sensor, an engine and ambient temperature sensor, well and a special belt holder.

    Owner reviews

    • I’ve been using a non-turbocharged one for two years, no problems, very good for long-distance trips. That year, oil leaked out of the box, I didn’t understand the reason, I took off the cover and put everything on the sealant. It seemed to me that snow was getting through the mesh on the hood and melting and water was getting in Under the box in severe frosts, the ice lifts the lid and the oil leaks out. I don’t have another version, but we’ll see this season. I drove 350 kilometers along the reservoir on the tank.
    • I drove this season in a 2005 model. In my opinion, it has the lowest fuel consumption of ALL 4-stroke models I have seen, good suspension in terms of comfort (both seats are comfortable, and the rear one is also removable, and the trunk turns out to be quite huge) and is quite strong. Nothing rusts anywhere like on scandiks. The windshield seemed a little low, because when you sit in a normal position it blows in your face and therefore you have to bend down (my height is 185). The plastic bumper is in the trash after several felled trees, but the waistcoat will hold up. it’s unrealistically heavy, even I got tired of pulling it out of the log, and the summit after it was like a feather, with one hand. The engine runs perfectly, smoothly, softly and quietly, but 53 horsepower is sometimes not enough. Overall I really liked the car.
