Today we are reviewing the RT100 and RT200 all-terrain vehicles from Motoland. These off-road motorcycles are made in China and supplied to Russia through intermediaries; you can buy an all-terrain vehicle in almost any large city or order it through delivery by a transport service.

The RT 100 and RT 200 are very similar in many details, they have the same frame configuration and technical solutions. That is why they are considered in one review.

Manufacturer

The Russian company Motoland is engaged in purchasing various equipment at foreign auctions: scooters, ATVs, motorcycles and spare parts for them. Today the company sells more than 40 models of motorcycles for extreme sports, travel and outdoor activities. The entire range of equipment is produced at the best factories in China. The Motoland company also supplies components and spare parts for motor vehicles. There are over three thousand types of parts in stock. Leading factories in Taiwan and China produce spare parts and accessories for motorcycles.

The domestic company does not have its own production - it only deals with the sale of new and used equipment. In this regard, the Motoland XR 250 motorcycle has nothing in common with this company, being a product of a Chinese manufacturer. The bike was created based on the Honda XR 250 motorcycle released in 1985 and the next model in the series, the Honda CRF. The design and characteristics of the Motoland XR 250 are almost identical to the Honda models.

Motorized transport for tourism

Judging by the reviews , the Motoland XR 250 is not the best option for long journeys. The small fuel tank (only 6 liters) and too high seating position make this motorcycle not the most convenient vehicle for long-distance travel, since not everyone will agree to push the bike to the nearest gas station.

Considering the engine capacity of the Motoland XR 250 (250 cc in total), the motorcycle’s fuel consumption is very low. In addition, this model of motorized transport is not designed for heavy loads: the maximum weight that it can withstand is one hundred kilograms, and this includes the driver himself in equipment. Accordingly, the items necessary for a long trip (sleeping bag, tent and other equipment) will no longer fit.

You can rent a Motoland XR 250 bike if you plan to travel by car. Cross-country motorcycles are lightweight (only 120 kg), which will not overload the car. Moreover, they fit in the back seat or trunk if you first remove the front wheel. On such a trip you can take whatever you want and ride on any available trails.

Motoland RT100 Review

The RT100 is a children's version of an all-terrain vehicle; it has smaller wheels and a weaker engine, but the general principle, as well as the frame geometry, are completely similar to its older brother. This off-road motorcycle is called a children's motorcycle; in the USA it is supplied from China under the Coleman Mini Bike RT100 brand and is recommended for children over 12 years old.

In order to find the real characteristics of a children's all-terrain vehicle, I had to try hard. In almost all online stores in Russia, the parameters are “out of the blue” or simply copied from the 200th brother. But, the children's model is smaller in size and weighs almost half as much.

Despite its light weight and small size, the Motoland RT100 is not a moped, since its engine has a volume of 105 cm3, and according to the law, only up to 50 “cubes” are considered a moped.

No matter what the sellers say, this is a children's off-road motorcycle; it is completely uncomfortable for an adult to sit on it.

The steering wheel is made high, so if an adult sits on the RT100, then the knees will not interfere with steering, but the center of gravity will be almost above the rear wheel and a sharp release of gas or a bump lifting the front wheel and tipping over on your back is almost a 90% chance!

The motor on the RT100 is a 4-stroke with a power of 3 hp, such motors are installed on small motor cultivators, the starter is manual using a rope “puller”. Disc brake with cable control.

There is no front shock absorber; road unevenness is smoothed out only by low-pressure wheels.

The footpegs, like those of the older brother, are folding from a pit bike. Thanks to folding, the all-terrain vehicle does not hang out in the rut.

There is no reduction gearbox or intermediate shaft; torque is transferred from the engine directly to the wheel sprocket. Due to the fact that the wheel has a smaller diameter than that of the RT200, the speed of these “brothers” is almost the same. The clutch is automatic - give the gas and go.

The muffler is made on the side and is protected by a grille. The grate itself does not heat up, so you don’t have to worry about burning your foot.

Off-road motor vehicles

And for traveling over rough terrain, the Motoland XR 250 motorcycle, judging by the reviews, is excellent. The front and rear wheels, measuring 18 and 21, respectively, make it easy to overcome various obstacles.

For a motocross motorcycle, it is preferable to use air cooling. The high saddle and excellent braking system are other advantages of the bike. The installed kickstarter is complemented by an electric starter, which helps out in situations where the motorcycle stalls in mud, a puddle or on an incline.

The maximum speed of the Motoland XR 250 is 120 km/h, which is enough for racing both on the highway and over rough terrain. Although the bike can be used for off-road riding, it is still not suitable for motocross.

Deep treads allow you to confidently move on winter roads, although it is better not to take unnecessary risks on such a motorcycle and try not to travel outside the city. It is also worth noting that the model uses high-quality plastic that does not crumble if damaged. In addition, there is always the possibility of purchasing spare parts for the Motoland XR 250. Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages

  • Excellent braking system with three discs and reinforced hoses. Baltmotors Street 250 stops dead in its tracks, but for beginners there is a risk of accidentally pressing the brake.
  • Speedometer . He regularly lies, and to a large extent. As GPS measurements taken by some owners show, at a speed of 110 km/h (according to the speedometer), the deviation can reach 15-20 km/h.

Flaws

  • A peculiar shape of the tank . Long-legged riders may not find it very comfortable to hug it with their legs, as their lower limbs will likely not fit into the designated recesses on the sides.
  • Inconvenient valve adjustment . For this operation, special windows are made in the CPG body, but it is quite difficult to get to them with tools in your hands.
  • Mediocre directional stability . At high speed, the Baltmotors Street 250 DD behaves quite nervously, and sometimes you have to “catch” it, especially on uneven asphalt.

Flaws

At first glance, it seems that the Motoland XR 250 is a real dream motorcycle: good technical characteristics coupled with an affordable price of around 80 thousand rubles. However, it also has its drawbacks.

This bike model is a complete copy of Honda, but does not match its quality. Most owners of Chinese motorcycles are faced with this problem: some have a bike that runs for several seasons without breakdowns, while others encounter problems and malfunctions literally on the second day of use. Quite often among Chinese motorcycles there are factory defects, and often quite serious ones. However, truly high-quality specimens are no less rare.

When choosing a 250 cc city bike, it’s definitely worth looking towards the Baltmotors Street 250 DD. Of course, there are now plenty of other motorcycles in showrooms across the country, but who wants to buy a pig in a poke? And the Baltmotors company has long earned itself a reliable reputation, and the BM Street 200 model, on which the new 250 cc version is based, contributed to this. Most of the “children’s sores” are already known, dealers have a lot of spare parts, there are also a lot of owner reviews on the Internet... So the Baltmotors Street 250 DD, perhaps, already has a serious advantage over its competitors - motorcyclists trust it. And for good reason.

What are we complaining about?

Owners of the Motoland XR 250 primarily note that the rear suspension of the motorcycle is too stiff. In some models, you may encounter a lack of side lights and turn signals, which greatly complicates movement in the city. However, their presence is not necessary if the bike is designed as sports equipment. However, then it is prohibited to travel on it within the city.

Owners often note poor build quality, encounter a bent front wheel, lack of lubrication or insufficient lubrication in the bearings, and cracks in the muffler. New motorcycles may have clogged air filters, and batteries will have to be charged immediately after purchase.

When overhauling an engine, judging by the reviews, you may encounter a large number of minor defects, ranging from a lack of parts to a large amount of small debris remaining after tumbling the castings.

The mot is actually not bad, but not without its flaws. I picked it up new at the store, and when I arrived home I discovered that two bolts had come loose, one on the remote control, and the other one that holds the gearbox foot, which miraculously did not lose at all. The consumption is more than stated, in city mode I get about 4 liters, but they don’t lie about the volume of the tank - I filled it in when it was almost dry, more than 21 liters came in. The engine is responsive, pulls confidently, but there is vibration at high speeds. In general, the vibrations were strong when the motor was new, and really strong, as if the crankshaft was beating, but then everything went away, apparently after running-in. Results

As you can see, purchasing cross-country Chinese motorcycles is a risky business, comparable to a lottery. In terms of price-quality ratio, the Motoland XR 250 bike is one of the best, provided that the buyer is able to make some adjustments and properly modify it.

After purchasing a motorcycle, you need to carefully check it, replace low-quality and suspicious parts with new ones (it is preferable to choose Japanese-made analogues), seal the cracks in the muffler with sealant and lubricate the parts. The carburetor may need to be adjusted, but this can be attributed to the advantages of the motorcycle: with the correct and good settings, a motocross bike really “pulls”.

When purchasing a Motoland XR 250 motocross motorcycle, you should immediately add ten to twenty thousand to its cost, which will be needed to refine the equipment and replace mechanisms. If the future owner is knowledgeable about technology or knows those who are specialists in this field, then the Motoland XR 250 bike can be quickly brought to life, turning it into a reliable vehicle for extreme trips.
