It works automatically when the motor speed is lower than the wheel speed. The system locks the shaft and forces the wheels to slow down the engine. In 2WD mode, engine braking is performed through the rear wheels, and in 4WD mode, the front wheels are also engaged. The transmission has high and low ranges, reverse mode, as well as neutral and park gears.

The Grizzly's all-wheel drive capabilities are nearly flawless. The three-position On-Command system allows you to select the mode suitable for the terrain by pressing a button on the steering wheel. Yamaha's Electronic Power Steering (EPS) is perhaps the most useful $500 you can spend on an accessory for your ATV. In fact, if we didn't have electric power, we might never have made it home. The car was tested on the difficult and windy "Big Bear" route, strewn with "invisible" rocks and tree roots that could eat you for lunch. On the last ride of the day, we came across one of these hidden obstacles at high speed. If it weren't for the Grizzly's electric boost, we probably would have broken a few fingers. The booster gives the driver a feeling of security and constant control. And, although most of the time we didn’t even notice EPS, at the right moment it justified itself one hundred percent.

Increased comfort and incredibly hard tires

The Grizzly platform has always been suitable for aggressive drivers, but in terms of comfort it was difficult to compare with Polaris and Can-Am vehicles. For 2014, Yamaha gave the new Grizzly 700 a wider, more stable chassis and increased suspension travel. In addition, tires with increased lugs were developed jointly with Maxxis. In addition, the new tires are so rigid that they are not at all afraid of sharp stones. Ultimately, all of these modifications significantly improve the Grizzly's low-speed ride comfort and make the car more nimble despite its width.

The brakes work perfectly. The brake handles are located on the right and left of the steering wheel. In addition, there is a rear brake pedal next to the driver's right foot. The left handle controls the dual hydraulic disc brakes on the rear wheels, while the right handle controls the front wheels. There's no emergency brake, but the transmission does have a park mode on the left side of the shift lever that keeps the Grizzly in place.

The ergonomic Grizzly 700 features a plush seat, full-length floorboards, raised running boards and large fenders. The ATV's instrument panel features a multi-function LCD display showing fuel injection and power steering information, as well as a fuel gauge, speedometer, odometer, trip meter, clock and differential lock indicator. On the left side of the display is a waterproof socket for charging your phone or GPS. And dual 35-watt halogen headlights provide plenty of illumination for evening driving. There are two storage areas on board the all-terrain vehicle, located under the seat and in the right front fender. In addition, the cargo racks can accommodate 130 kilograms of cargo (45 in the front and 85 in the rear), and with the help of a trailer, the Grizzly can transport another 590 kilograms.

Only some 60 mm of difference, but how radically they changed the character and behavior of the car! I note that the energy intensity of the suspension remained at the same level. For economic and tourist purposes, its potential is quite enough, but during active driving or, especially, jumping, the shock absorbers instantly “deflate” and work until the suspension elements ring.

Despite the rather modest increase in horsepower, the engine looks much more interesting than its predecessor. Reactions to manipulations with the gas trigger have become significantly faster and sharper, and the car feels more fun to drive than the old Grizzly. And although competitors are becoming more powerful and faster every year, the Japanese “bear” gives in to its “muscular” rivals only on long, drawn-out straights of various cross-country and country tracks (where, by the way, in recent years, mostly junk races have taken place ").

In all other cases, the updated Yamaha Grizzly has enough power. Although, of course, by modern standards it is 49 liters. s. is not enough for a flagship model.

By introducing the new-old Grizzly to the market, the Japanese played a completely winning card. On the one hand, the car does not have any technical and design innovations that sometimes frighten the average person, and on the other hand, there is a list of changes in the design with reservations, but it is tempting for a serious update.

So fans of the brand will be happy to buy this ATV - fortunately, it has remained virtually unchanged externally and technically. Consumers who are accustomed to an old car will not have to change the place of service and warranty service and again buy a set of mandatory consumables and additional accessories.

Well, new potential buyers will appreciate the legendary reliability of the model, the developed Yamaha dealer network and the new, more dynamic character of the ATV.

Let's summarize about the Yamaha Grizzly 700. Reviews from happy owners indicate that the ATV has virtually no drawbacks. And if they do exist, they can safely be called insignificant. So what is this machine?

Pros: The wide seat and footrest allow drivers of any size to sit comfortably in the car. Accessible and easy controls even for beginners will turn your trip into pure pleasure. If you love extreme sports, then this vehicle is for you. The Yamaha Grizzly 700 engine is capable of accelerating the car to speeds of more than one hundred kilometers per hour!

Cons: Owners would like the fenders above the wheels to be a little wider, as road dirt gets onto the driver. The ATV is quite unstable. If you are not yet fully accustomed to your purchase, experienced owners advise not to overclock the car too much, as a fall is almost inevitable.

Maintenance of the Yamaha Grizzly 700 ATV

In the instructions for the vehicle, the manufacturer indicates the frequency of maintenance of the model. All components in Yamaha Grizzly are subject to regular maintenance:

  • fuel line - identifying leaks and damage;
  • spark plugs – cleaning of carbon deposits, replacement;
  • crankcase ventilation system - checking the breather hose;
  • brake system - checking the brake fluid, adjusting the pedal travel;
  • condition of tires and bearings;
  • V-belt wear level;
  • checking the free play of the accelerator lever.

When servicing the oil system, the lubrication level, absence of leaks and repairs are checked (if faults are detected). The oil fluid is changed at the intervals specified in the technical documentation:

  • first replacement - after 320 km or after one month of operation;
  • the second – after 2500 km or after 6 months of operation;

Owners of the Yamaha 125 ATV appreciated its driving performance and reliability. Of course, the equipment is not designed for driving on difficult routes, but on an ordinary road it handles confidently.

Advantages of Grizzly:

  • Reliability. When buying a new Grizzly 125, you can be sure that the device will work without breakdowns for more than one year. With regular maintenance, the car will last 4-5 years.
  • Availability of automatic transmission. Thanks to the transmission, even beginners can use the equipment. The easy-to-use device is perfect for children and teenagers.
  • Load capacity. The miniature machine can withstand loads of up to 150 kg.
  • Soft suspension. Small holes and bumps are practically not felt when driving.
  • Excellent traction. Grizzly confidently climbs the hills.
  • Simple design.
  • Economical. On average, a car spends 2-2.5 liters of gasoline per 100 km.

The Yamaha 125 ATV also has several minor disadvantages:

  • Slightly overpriced. A used car from 2005 costs around 60-75 thousand rubles. A more recent version will cost 90-140 thousand rubles.
  • Problems finding new spare parts. It is quite difficult to find new parts for utility vehicles, so many owners have to be content with used spare parts or Chinese replicas.
  • Minimum equipment. The device cannot boast of heated handles, a backrest, or even rear-view mirrors.

Minor shortcomings are fully compensated by the reliability of the device.

Let there be light

The new product has LED headlights. Not the floodlights at the border post, of course, but they definitely shine better than halogen bulbs. In addition, for greater safety and comfort when driving in the dark, an additional light has settled on the steering wheel (as on Polaris ATVs), which turns on when the toggle switch on the steering switch block is moved to the “high beam” position. Is there any benefit from an additional headlight? Definitely yes: it’s very convenient when at low speed you turn the steering wheel and see in advance what kind of wilds you’re steering the all-terrain vehicle into. As for the rear optics, the LED trend has not bypassed the Grizzly either.

Now a few words about the engine. The Grizzly 700 received a new single-cylinder power plant with a displacement of 708 cc (remember that earlier models were equipped with a 686 cc “single-barrel”). Unlike its predecessor, the new engine is 6% more powerful and 9% superior to its predecessor in terms of maximum torque. And all this thanks not only to the increased engine volume, but also to the factory tuning of the intake and exhaust systems.
