Modern and progressive motorcycle Wels Impulse 250

The Chinese brand Wels has been producing motorcycles since 1996. During this time, this manufacturer has gained a good reputation around the world. All Wels products are of high quality and reliability, which is confirmed by numerous positive reviews from customers. The brand is multifunctional and therefore is constantly in search of new technological solutions; engineers are trying to introduce new “tricks” that constantly take the company to a completely new level. Despite the fact that the country of origin is China, this technique should not be underestimated.

It must be safely said that the company’s products provide healthy competition to world leaders in the production of motorcycle equipment, such as Yamaha or Suzuki. But Wels has one advantage - an adequate price for equipment. It is worth mentioning sports bikes, in particular the Wels Impulse 250 model - a modern and progressive motorcycle with impressive technical characteristics. In addition to Impulse, the company produces the sought-after wels ghost 25, the price of which is 129,900 thousand rubles . The bike is designed for people who love high speed and a sense of freedom. An interesting design and the roar of the engine make passersby turn around when the Wels 250 motorcycle overcomes traffic jams in the city.

Specifications

The strength of the entire structure is ensured by a steel, tubular frame. The main power unit on the motorcycle is a 4-stroke gasoline engine with one cylinder and a displacement of 250 cc. With a power of 16.3 hp, the motorcycle leaves many car drivers behind on the track. The engine starts due to the operation of an electric starter, the ignition is electronic for the CDI system, its second name is capacitor. The fuel supply system is carburetor; the Impulse 250 operating book indicates the recommended fuel grade AI-92. Gasoline is contained in a 14-liter gas tank. Despite the declared engine displacement of 250 cc, fuel consumption can be safely called modest, it is 3-3.5 liters per 100 km.

The wheels consist of durable, alloy wheels, which are shod with tires of sizes: front 110/70-17 and rear - 130/70-17. Wheelbase: 134 cm, ground clearance - 128 cm. 5-speed manual gearbox, thanks to which you can fully experience the pleasure of driving a motorcycle and riding in general.

The clutch is very sensitive, multi-plate in an oil bath. All forces from the engine are transmitted to the rear wheel through a metal chain.

We can conclude that the technical characteristics of the Wels 250 are impressive and elevate the model to the world ranking of sports bikes, on the same level as the famous “Japanese”.

Good day:) In September 2022 I received category “A” and spent the whole winter choosing a motorcycle for the first season. I chose from both new Chinese and used Japanese; in my budget, the Japanese will be my age (a 32-year-old boy) and for this reason I decided to take the new Chinese first.

I bought my Нost at the end of March 2022, the weather was +2 +3, there was even snow in places - I drove home from the store under my own power (I rode rental studded motorcycles in the winter and on pit pits on hard shit in the summer - that’s why I wasn’t afraid). On the way home from the store, I made a “lap of honor” along the central streets of the city for about 20 kilometers)) I arrived, drove it into a rented garage, a couple of days later I drove it a few more times and registered it. And now about the operation, the pros and cons: during the season I drove only 800 km and all around the city, I didn’t go on the highway further than the Mega) It handles well, the dynamics suit me, it even allows me to misbehave with all its modest 250 cc, it pulls confidently. I haven’t eaten anything sweeter than carrots and that’s why I’m happy with everything))

In terms of reliability: it has never failed, the chain has not stretched, nothing has fallen off, after three weeks of inactivity it starts with a button (the battery does not die), one rider carries 60 kg with confidence.:) Dynamics - “The Priora makes it almost as good as a normal one”))))))) I changed the oil twice: at 200 km and at about 400. The second oil change was combined with maintenance, the maintenance verdict was that one bolt fell off due to vibration and was lost, everything else is good. At this maintenance, the following was performed: changing the oil, fully lubricating the chain, tightening all the bolts where the master’s hands could reach. Somehow the vibration and tapping of the instrument panel was eliminated))) it didn’t last long)) then I stupidly put rubber bands on it myself. It sniffs gasoline , it looks impressive, it’s expensive, the sound is good, and it’s convenient in between rows. Dropped it once in the rain on the tram tracks - it was all fixed by cooking the steps with argon. It handles well, forgives some mistakes, you can catch the motorcycle when you make a mistake and taxi out... Cons: With the second number (I am 60 kg, the second number is 55 kg) the motorcycle does not move, it pulls like a Matiz with 6 passengers, turns like a Kamaz)) ) i.e. mot for one person. My second number (55 kg, height 168 cm, long legs))) is not comfortable to sit on - the seat and footrests of the second number would be normal only for a girl 155 tall and weighing 45 kg)) maybe a spendthrift will go with this)

Absolutely not liquid on the secondary market, it so happened that in the middle of summer I needed money and decided to sell a motorcycle with a mileage of 700 km and used for 4 months - putting it up for 80% of the price in the showroom, I didn’t receive a single call, gradually reduced it to about 68-70% of the price in the showroom and also not a single call, there is no point in dropping it lower - I decided to keep it for myself and ride the second season, solving the problems differently. Those. if you buy it new, even after a couple of months you will only sell it for half the price. So if you don’t take it for 3-4 years or you don’t have younger ones to whom you’ll give it as a gift as they get tired of it in the first season (because they’ll only buy it for an insulting price))) - this is not your money, take the Japanese 400 cc year 2000 this money and sell it for almost what you took. Some kind of crap (like twisting wires in insulation) is always rubbing in the area of the plug, rubbing not due to abrasion, but to an unpleasant squeaking sound, you have to dig deeper, you’re lazy)

I consider the absence of a kick starter and a central stand to be a big disadvantage, especially the first one. PS: by the way, does anyone know if a center stand can be installed?

The tires have too much of a “sporty” pattern; if they had at least a tread like Bajaj Boxer’s, they would drive more confidently. Otherwise, I don’t see the point in the “sportiness” of the tread pattern on a 250 cc motorcycle.

Bottom line: for the money (110 thousand) the motor is normal, but the kick starter is still missing, I will ride the second season :)

Design Features

The upper fairing and glass remove cold wind currents from the driver, which makes the ride comfortable and enjoyable. Also, Grand Prix-type plastic carefully conceals the engine, placed in such a way that the driver is exposed to splashes of rainwater and dirt while driving. Speaking about the installed optics, it is necessary to say the following: due to the lenses, the night light of the motorcycle is ultra-precise and bright, LED turn signals are installed. The instrument panel is electronic, it displays a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and hour meter. The low seating position of the Impulse allows you to travel with full control over the iron horse, which is also facilitated by a split steering wheel. The Chinese “rocket” has high shock-absorbing qualities; the front suspension consists of a telescopic fork, inside of which there are two spring shock absorbers.

The rear suspension consists of a pendulum fork and one spring shock absorber. Of course, Wels is primarily intended for sporty driving on perfectly smooth road surfaces, but if necessary, the suspension suffers from various vibrations. The braking system consists of disc brakes (rear and front), the bike stops in a matter of seconds with the slightest impact on them.

It doesn’t matter what you drive, it’s important how you do it...

Walking around the city, you increasingly notice how various bikes rush past.
Cutting through the dense traffic flow, they do not notice traffic jams, do not waste time - they simply confidently move towards the goal. Every year there are more and more two-wheeled vehicles on the streets. What kind of popularity you ask? Well, for starters, it’s convenient - eternal traffic jams during rush hour are a thing of the past, and a lot of time is saved. It is economical - whatever one may say, the average fuel consumption of a motorcycle is less than that of a car. And finally, it's just damn cool! Remember “The Terminator” - haven’t any of you imagined yourself in Arnold’s place? Leather biker jacket, sunglasses and a thundering bike! So what's all this for? If you decide to join the orderly ranks of the two-wheeled fraternity and, like the right person, you ask yourself the question - where and where to start? – I hope our review will bring you closer to your goal. So, today we will talk about a motorcycle for beginner riders – WELS IMPULSE 250cc. Let's go! The vast motorcycle market can drive anyone into a stupor. For a beginner choosing his first bike, this is generally a dark forest. Where to start, which manufacturer to choose, which class of motorcycle is right for me. Of course, there are a lot of questions, but everything is not so scary. Fortunately, we don’t live in the Stone Age, and any information is freely available - read reviews, meet people “in the know”, and finally, go to showrooms - touch everything, sit on everything, sign up for a test drive (with us do you have a category “A” license?).

Some people care about the ease of handling and driving a motorcycle, the second - how easy it is to maintain and its maintainability, the third - the price, the fourth - all of the above... Let's dwell on the question - which motorcycle to buy at the beginning of the journey. Of course, if you have good financial support, you can go and without hesitation take some top model from one of the “well-known” brands. But think for a second - what if I don’t like it, what if it’s not for me? This is how new expensive decorative elements for an apartment or garage appear.

I suggest paying attention to the equipment of Chinese manufacturers. And I beg you, don’t immediately wrinkle your nose and dismiss it skeptically! Chinese-made motorcycles occupy their niche in the market and offer both beginners and experienced riders a wide selection of high-quality and reliable equipment at an affordable price. In my humble opinion, a Chinese-made motorcycle at a reasonable price is the best choice for a beginner.

On the carpet today we have the IMPULSE sportbike from WELS

Why did you choose this particular class and model? Let’s try to use it to debunk the myth that the “Chinese” don’t drive and generally fall apart on the move.

At first glance at IMPULSE you notice something familiar in its image... Well, of course - the appearance exactly repeats the famous “erk” of the first model. The same aggressive front fairing and slanted headlight lenses, the same smooth contours of the body, making the bike look like a modern fighter.

The manufacturer does not hide the fact that the Yamaha R1 served as the prototype for the creation of the IMPULSE 250cc. Even the color was borrowed from the 2012 anniversary model. Well what can I say... Resourceful. A recognizable model from a famous brand, but in its own way. More accessible to mere mortals. What can I say – our many friends from the East surprised us again.

So what we see before us (based on first visual impressions) is a “sport” class motorcycle with a bright and ergonomic design that attracts the eye and fascinates those who like to “unscrew” the handle. Upon closer inspection, you notice that the build quality of the plastic is excellent (“the Chinese” have always been guilty of poorly assembled body kits), there are no joints, no cracks, and the tolerances are minimal. All elements are in place, as they should be. The quality of the plastic itself is also worthy of all praise.

The motorcycle is available in three colors - white, black and red. As they say, there is something for every taste.
