Electronic Snowshoe: Ski-Doo Tundra LT 600 ACE

BRP Ski-Doo Skantic SWT 600 Ace is a new generation snowmobile, in demand on the world market among true professionals. This model is adapted for operation in difficult climatic conditions, including the northern regions of Russia. This can explain the high popularity of the car, which is characterized by high reliability, maneuverability, comfort and convenience. The device is capable of moving through loose snowdrifts, as well as compacted roads. The equipment is optimized specifically for low-temperature conditions, and for this purpose it is equipped with all the necessary options that are included in the basic configuration. The Skido Scandic SVT BRP is produced by the legendary Canadian concern Bombardier Recreational Product, or simply Bombardier. This Canadian company is considered one of the best manufacturers of such equipment. BRP products are renowned for their quality, comfort and innovative features.

BRP Skido Scandic SVT is an affordable and versatile snowmobile with exciting handling and dynamic acceleration. The model in question is used in open and snowy areas, on compacted roads or in deep snow, as well as in forest areas. Compact dimensions and high maneuverability make it easy to maneuver in hard-to-reach areas - for example, in the wilderness or in the presence of obstacles that sometimes appear suddenly. The snowmobile overcomes snow cover of varying depths and any consistency. To drive in such conditions, the car is equipped with an adaptive suspension that can be adjusted at your discretion. Equally important is a comfortable driver’s seat, in which you can sit comfortably and not experience inconvenience on long journeys. Good dynamic qualities are ensured by a powerful power plant that can cope with heavy overloads without overheating. In addition, thanks to the powerful internal combustion engine, you can pull a sled with large cargo containers.

BRP Skido Scandic SVT is a snowmobile with an optimally tuned chassis and adjusted center-to-axle weight distribution, a feature of which is optimal weight distribution along the axles. Light weight and small dimensions have a beneficial effect on handling and maneuverability.

As for appearance, the style of the car fully corresponds to the corporate design concept of the BRP company. In general, the model is practically no different from other modern Bombardier snowmobiles. Thus, the car is characterized by smooth lines and a streamlined body. Such features make the snowmobile not only fashionable, but also aerodynamic. The second factor is extremely important, since the model is aimed at active and young users who prefer to drive very quickly.

The main advantages of a snowmobile:

  1. Steering column made of metal. Comfortable rubberized grips improve grip and prevent hands from slipping
  2. High windshield with good visibility and protection from headwinds and falling snow. An equally important feature of glass is its increased strength, thanks to which the glass can withstand impacts from branches.
  3. Hook tow bar mounted at the rear, providing the ability to connect sleds with a variety of loads.
  4. Heated grip function
  5. Modular driver's seat with spacious luggage compartment underneath
  6. Rear view mirrors
  7. Full instrument panel with indicators, speed, mileage, etc.

Review of the Ski-Doo Renegade Sport 600 ACE snowmobile

We won't say anything bad about the 2015 Ski-Doo Renegade Sport 600 ACE, but it would still be a better rental sled. It is equipped with high-quality units, and its design will make people who do not understand snowmobiles think that there is a real monster underneath. And the next day they will return to ski school and consider themselves experienced snowmobile drivers, but they will enjoy skiing more.

Snowmobile Ski-Doo Renegade Sport 600 ACE
But this is even good. A quality rental snowmobile that leaves a positive impression never hurts. The Ski-Doo Renegade Sport 600 ACE is a quiet machine, which inexperienced drivers will appreciate. Thanks to the 60-horsepower, 4-stroke, 2-cylinder, direct injection engine, the snowmobile rides very smoothly. On straight sections it accelerates to 80 km/h and corners confidently. 330mm of vertical suspension travel provides a plush ride. The snowmobile starts off like a car, quickly responds to throttle response, and is very flexible.

The Ski-Doo Renegade Sport 600 ACE snowmobile is ideal for rental at ski resorts. 600 ACE—virtually bulletproof. If necessary, the engine power can be reduced using a programmable “smart” key, making it easier for beginners to operate the car. The Renegade Sport 600 ACE is equipped with the old-style front and rear suspension. But there is nothing wrong with these designs; they have worked well over time. This is exactly what a budget-conscious landlord needs.

Of course, seasoned snowmobile riders know Ski-Doo's new technology is better. And the Renegade models, located higher in the unofficial hierarchy, only prove this. Take the Renegade Adrenaline 900 ACE for example, it costs significantly more than the Renegade Sport 600 ACE. Let's ignore the fact that the 900 ACE engine has 1 more cylinder and 30 more horsepower. Let's turn our attention to the suspension. The latest RAS2 suspension provides a smoother ride and works perfectly in tandem with the rMotion rear suspension. For these reasons, the more expensive Renegade 900 ACE is more suitable for daily use.

However, the Renegade Sport 600 ACE handles surprisingly well both on and off the trail. The smallest of the Rotax 4-stroke engines has plenty of torque to help you get through lots of snow drifts. The engine and eDrive system are tuned to transfer power to the 137-inch track as efficiently as possible at low revs. The car's handling is reminiscent of the long-discontinued Ski-Doo Elan miniature, powered by a single-cylinder, 250cc fan-powered engine. It was an amazing sled that used the consistent torque of a single cylinder engine to transfer power to a full-size track. Yes, he did not race on mountain slopes, but he climbed very confidently. The lightweight snowmobile was equipped with the correct transmission.

Like the vintage Elan, the Ski-Doo Renegade Sport 600 ACE has the right transmission. The drive system provides virtually trouble-free control, especially when the driver has 40 liters of 87-octane gasoline at his disposal. The sled comes standard with a 15-inch wide, 137-inch long Cobra track with 1.25-inch (3.17 cm) lugs for reliable traction. Of course, none of Ski-Doo's current sleds weigh anywhere near the 250-pound Elan, but the 215.5-pound Renegade Sport 600 ACE is very good by today's standards.

The modern snowmobile is liquid cooled and has much needed suspension upgrades. You don't want to ride a snowmobile with leaf springs and wobbly wheels. The old Elan and similar snowmobiles were very well equipped for their time. Today, speed and agility are important.

Whereas the Renegade Adrenaline 900 ACE has better suspension, the Renegade Sport 600 ACE is quite good. The rear suspension is the reliable SC-5M, the predecessor to the rMotion. A Motion Control shock absorber is installed in the center of the structure, and an HPG gas shock absorber is installed on the rear arm. The performance of the front suspension is only slightly worse than the modern improved RAS2, it does its job well, especially on a 60-horsepower snowmobile. The double A-arm front suspension with Motion Control shocks keeps the Pilot 5.7 plastic skis on the trail.

Consumers can look at the Renegade Sport 600 ACE snowmobile as a long-term value buy. The snowmobile is built on a lightweight and rigid REV-XS aluminum chassis. You will definitely appreciate the Brembo hydraulic braking system. The handlebars are made of lightweight aluminum and the J-shaped handles provide a firm grip, which is important when driving over snowdrifts and bumps. The high windshield not only provides good protection from the wind, but also looks stylish. Electric start and mechanical reverse make loading and unloading easy. The seat is very comfortable for long trips and for quickly changing positions. It also has storage space.

The Renegade Sport 600 ACE snowmobile will be a really good rental car. It is suitable for those who are just getting acquainted with snowmobiles. The car behaves well on the plains, but when climbing, it doesn’t perform so well. The sled rides quieter and smoother than older fan-cooled two-stroke models.

You can play around with the sled's performance a little by choosing one of three modes. For this purpose, a key switch is installed on the dashboard. Standard mode is suitable for daily use. Switch to Sport mode for a more aggressive ride. Eco mode significantly reduces speed and saves fuel.

Beginner snowmobile riders may get tired of using their thumb to control the throttle. For such cases, Ski-Doo has provided a new organization of the trigger mechanism; if necessary, it can be completely turned over and the gas supply can be adjusted with the remaining fingers of the hand.

If you want to personalize your snowmobile, Ski-Doo offers a wide range of accessories. Some are designed specifically for the Ski-Doo LinQ system. You can add bags, an extra seat, and a towbar if you choose the Renegade Sport 600 ACE as a reliable and relatively inexpensive way to get to remote fishing spots.

Of course, we wouldn't pass up a free Renegade Sport 600 ACE, but there are better single-seat sleds out there. But at the rental point, we would definitely pay attention to it. If you want to drive a quiet, fuel-efficient, stylish, modern snowmobile, consider purchasing the Renegade Sport 600 ACE.

Modifications:

  1. The base option is the Ski-Doo Skandic WT600, available with telescopic or wishbone suspension. The first option is tuned for a sportier and stiffer ride, while the lever design is characterized by increased cross-country ability and a smooth ride. It's tuned for a softer ride.
  2. The Skandic WT 600 SUV modification is equipped only with a wishbone suspension, and is already initially adapted for heavy off-road conditions - this is hinted at by the SUV prefix in the name. The linkage chassis provides a softer, smoother ride tuned for comfort. The main disadvantage of such a chassis is that the suspension arms tend to cling to stumps, branches and other objects. Levers quickly become clogged and must be cleaned promptly.
  3. WT 600 E-TEC is a modernized snowmobile with a more modern E-TEC engine.
  4. Ski-Doo Skandic WT Ace – features a modified design and a modified engine. This machine is well adapted to high loads and low temperatures.
  5. Ski-Doo Skandic SWT 600 is a powerful snowmobile that is one of the flagship versions. Its main differences are advanced shock absorbers, a universal and more durable suspension, a new engine and an enlarged track. With such innovations, the snowmobile is powerful, passable and stable on any surface. At the same time, it is endowed with high fuel efficiency.

Basic options:

Passenger seat with backrest, electric starter, heated steering wheel and grips for driver and passenger, speedometer, tachometer, remaining fuel and engine temperature indicators, rear view mirrors, rear tow bar and tachometer.

Recommended price for a new snowmobile

You can buy Ski-Doo 600 SWT either used or new. It all depends on the year of manufacture and model. At the official BRP dealer you can find a Sky-Doo 600 with an upgraded 2019 Rotax HO E-TEC engine without mileage. In this case, sales are carried out by pre-order. In this case, the truck will cost about 1200 – 1400 thousand rubles.

You can find earlier models on ad sites. On the secondary market, the price for this truck varies from 320 to 970 thousand rubles. The cost depends on the kilometers traveled and the general technical condition of the car. Thus, a 2011 all-terrain vehicle with a mileage of less than 1,000 km costs about 900 thousand rubles, and a 2005 truck with a mileage of almost 9,000 km will cost about 400 thousand rubles.

Reviews

  • Vitaly, Novosibirsk. An inexpensive and fast device, equally good for leisure and for work purposes. The car cost me 800 thousand rubles - relatively inexpensive, and at the same time it is quite fast. Fuel consumption is no more than 15 liters per 100 kilometers. Before this model I had a Taiga. It cannot be compared with a Canadian snowmobile - these machines are like two different dimensions. Finally, I realized how much technological progress has stepped forward. The car is stable on the road, has good maneuverability and controllability. I liked the interesting design, good traction and decent top speed for 60 hp. With. After two years of use, I have managed without any breakdowns so far.
  • Yuri, Leningrad region. The BRP Skido Scandic SVT model has been in my possession for about four years. The car covered many routes during this time, including the most difficult trips across the tundra. The snowmobile was at its best no matter where it was. In terms of cross-country ability, this model is one of the best. Skido Scandic SVT has a well-thought-out design, and there are also special tricks in the suspension, thanks to which I was able to drive in any place, including the most inaccessible places, deep snowdrifts, etc. In terms of elasticity and fuel efficiency, few can compare with this snowmobile - it gets through absolutely everywhere, largely thanks to the downshift. But there are also significant disadvantages that I would consider a trifle for a cheap snowmobile - for example, engine noise, vibrations on the steering column and seat, whistling rollers, creaking suspension, fragile plastic skis.
  • Pavel, Murmansk. The Skido Scandic BRP is a completely reliable device that can cover any route without any problems. The average length of my route is 170 kilometers – this is a round trip. I would like to note the high quality of assembly and materials. There is nothing knocking or squeaking in the car. The engine noise at high speeds is quite acceptable. During the run-in, one problem was discovered - oil was leaking from the gearbox. I decided to install a new rubber band, and the problem seemed to never exist. Nothing else leaked. The car is now two years old and I am still happy with it. The snowmobile's ride quality is tuned for a smooth and comfortable ride, striking a balance between handling and comfort. I am sure that the car will serve me just as long.
  • Igor, Kazan. The odometer on my BRP snowmobile shows 3,500 kilometers. I drove this much for 2.5 years. Of course, there were some breakdowns. The first thousand kilometers passed, and strange knocking noises appeared in the gearbox. It happened quite suddenly when I started to accelerate sharply. The problem was fixed at the service - it’s good that the problem occurred during the warranty period - they fixed it free of charge. During the second year of use (at the end), problems arose with the fan fuse. The headlight also burned out. Both components had to be replaced with new parts, but they had to wait a long time for ordering (after all, I decided not to install a Chinese fake). The car is easy to drive - both on the highway and in the deep wilderness, on loose snow, etc. At maximum speed, aerodynamic noise is clearly audible, and at idle there are vibrations. But these little things do not affect reliability. The only serious disadvantage of the snowmobile is its high price.

Attention to safety

Of course, a snowmobile for traveling must also be safe. This machine can be recommended even to beginners. There is a special limiter key here that prevents you from gaining speed above the set limit.

The Adventure LX 600 CE is perfect for learning! The manufacturer has also provided a special economical operating mode for the ECO power plant. The speed in it will not exceed 70 kilometers per hour, fuel consumption will be significantly reduced.

The braking system is powered by hydraulics; the fluid moves through reinforced stainless steel hoses, which are guaranteed not to be damaged when traveling in extreme conditions.

The configuration of the body is such that the main load during rollovers and collisions falls on special deformation elements that protect travelers from injury.
