Motorcycle R1100RT (1995): technical characteristics, photos, videos

Powerful tourer BMW R 1100

A touring motorcycle with a two-cylinder boxer engine is the BMW R 1100 RT. Produced from 1996 to 2001 by the BMW plant (Spandau) along with several similar designs, including the R1100R and R1100RS, with almost identical engines but different trim parts.

After the R100RT, the R1100RT was released in 1996. In addition to the extensive changes, engine power increased significantly from 44 to 66 kW (60 to 90 hp) and displacement increased to 1,085 cc. cm.

In addition, the new BMW has the following characteristics:
  • has a bore of 99 mm, stroke of 70.5 mm;
  • compression ratio 10.7:1;
  • maximum speed 211 km/h;
  • acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is 3.9 seconds.

The BMW R 1100 gs is equipped with an anti-lock braking system and an adjustable three-way catalytic converter. The chassis is designed in three parts and consists of a front and rear frame and a cooperating geared motor ligand. The fuel tank holds 25.2 liters. Average fuel consumption is 4.7 liters per 100 km at 90 km/h or 5.6 liters at 120 km/h.

It is recommended to use gasoline with a knock resistance of at least 95 octane. The front tires are 120/70 ZR 17 and the rear 160/60 ZR 18. The motorcycle weighs 285 kg when running and has a maximum additional payload of 205 kg.

Models and competitors of the BMW R 1100

Touring motorcycles with comparable equipment and engine performance are the Honda Pan-European, Honda Gold Wing and Triumph Trophy 1200. The BMW R90S bahnstormer offspring arrived, appearing in century trim as the new R1100S. The 1993 S is the most powerful BMW Twin ever built.

Advantages

BMW's new model isn't intended to be a pure sportsbike, but the shell of the 1100S is an improvement. Provided that the basic tuning has not changed. Main advantages:

  • less weight;
  • more power;
  • crisper steering;
  • with a more sophisticated design.

BMW unveiled the 1100 at the end of June, coinciding with the opening of the Art of the Motorcycle exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Engine BMW R1100S 1085 cc cm, air/oil cooled, four valves vs Twin. Forged pistons have higher compression with a 2mm thick top dome.

Forged pistons allow the redline to rise to 8,400 rpm from 7,900 rpm, while a vane air filter and redesigned intake duct improve airflow. The new stainless steel exhaust with integrated catalytic converter provides 70 percent of the power.

The new BMW R 1100 RS has 80 horsepower. Peak torque up to 200 rpm. The Bosch Motronic fuel injection engine management software has been recalibrated. oil pump capacity 350 cc. cm prepared to handle additional thermal loads. Magnesium valves and an alternator help keep the engine running, connected via a new hydraulic clutch to a much smoother six-speed transmission.

Reviews of the BMW R 1100 operation

Nikolay, 38 years old: “The unique A-arm front suspension of the BMW R 1100 S is attached to a new aluminum alloy frame, and the front suspension components are lightened. Machined (instead of cast) slider tubes give the S a unique look.

The new monotube gas shock serves as a Telelever damper, allowing only rebound correction. The single rear shock has 40-position preload spring adjustment as well as rebound adjustment. The steering geometry has sped up slightly. The steering wheel angle has increased by 1 degree. Such criteria allow you to use the motorcycle in any case and if necessary. The model is improved, but personal tuning is possible.”

Vasily, 41 years old: “I bought a motorcycle for myself. Good transmission, great cast spoke wheels from a K-bike. Dual 305mm front brake rotors lock directly onto the rim spokes and are clamped by four Brembo piston calipers. The model is practical to use and reliable. Moving over uneven and hard-to-reach places is now not at all difficult.”

Marek Kruszynski and his BMW K 1100 RS

Marek Kruszynski, a resident of New York City, New York State, recently wanted to feel the wind of the local roads again, and instead of just paying for a purchase at a dealership, he decided to create a motorcycle that he would want to ride. Marek, a long-time fan of the Bavarian brand, had not ridden motorcycles for more than 20 years, but then he took a BMW K 1100 RS and turned it into a real work of art in a small home workshop.

I was watching Racer TV on YouTube and there was a video about a BMW K 100 with horizontal suspension from Retro Rides. And I realized - this is it! “I bought the Cafe Racer Bible from Lourenco Brothers that evening and started collecting information,” Marek says.

The project was planned without much haste, with pleasure and maximum attention to detail. And since real estate would cost a pretty penny in New York City, Marek worked on his motorcycle “in the cozy garage of a farmhouse upstate in the Catskills.”

Custom BMW K 1100 RS

The basis of the project, a 1993 K 1100 RS, was purchased with a full bonnet and in good external condition, despite being almost 30 years old. This is quite a big girl - 270 kilograms, after all, and Marek began by stripping her of the excess, then examining every screw, saving what was suitable for her new life and pushing everything else away.

Description BMW R 1100RT 1995

The description of the BMW R 1100RT 1995 motorcycle is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls.

Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.

A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.

Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the BMW R 1100RT, whose technical characteristics make it possible to call the model a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.

Currently, it is impossible to purchase a new BMW R 1100RT motorcycle from the 1995 model year, since their production stopped 21 years ago. At the same time, the BMW R 1100RT has excellent technical characteristics, so many people strive to purchase, if not a new, then at least a used version.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 1085 cc. see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of more than 400 kb. cm, which includes the BMW R 1100RT - this category of motorcycles simply cannot claim the title of “motorcycle for a beginner.” On the contrary, this is already a serious technique that requires certain control of motorcycle equipment with a smaller engine capacity. Yes, she attracts more attention, she is the most beautiful, fast, interesting and there is a huge selection of models. But as power increases, the weight of the motorcycle inevitably increases. In this class you are unlikely to find motorcycles lighter than 180 kg, unless they are the latest motorcycle models.

Motorcycle IZH Jupiter 4. First thousand kilometers

Jupiter of the fourth generation The team of the Izhmash production association completed the tenth five-year plan with a double labor victory: a new mechanical assembly building was put into operation, where the production of IZH-Jupiter-4 motorcycles was mastered. “Jupiter-4” is distinguished by a successful combination of the best solutions, tested both on its previous models, as well as on Planet-Sport. The ENGINE has undergone further modernization. Thanks to improved filling and changes in the design of the purge channels, its maximum power has been increased from 25 to 28 hp. s., and torque - from 3.23 to 3.58 kgf.m. In this regard, an additional pair of discs was introduced into the CLUTCH. The FRAME is also interchangeable with previous Jupiter models. The changes affected only the mounting of the gas tank, where rubber shock absorbers were used to reduce vibrations. The shape of the tank has become more modern, and the factory emblem also looks new. IN THE CHASSIS thanks to the modernization of the front.

IZH Planet 5. Three new modifications 7.107-014, 7.107-015, 7.107-016

Three modifications of the IZH Planet 5 motorcycle. For many years, the Izhmash Association has been pursuing a policy of broad unification of manufactured vehicles. Not only parallel, that is, for models produced simultaneously, for example, “IZH-Jupiter-5” and “IZH-Planeta-5”, but also sequential - the continuity of later machines with their predecessors (“IZH-Planet-5”, “IZH-Planet-5”) Planet-4", "IZH-Planet-3", etc.). This trend will continue in the near future. As is known, Izhmash designers envision three promising families of motorcycles: “Sirius” to replace the “Planet”, “Saturn” to replace the “Jupiter” and the new “Orion” family (ZR, 1990, No. 6). The latter is based on a Japanese license, covering a four-stroke single-cylinder engine, telescopic front forks, front disc brake, cast light alloy wheels.

Boosting the IZH Planet motorcycle. How to increase power

How to increase power The All-Union Spartakiad in technical sports has ended. Motorcycle enthusiasts who have become involved in the sport are interested in ways to increase engine power. In issue No. 10 of our magazine for 1965, factory designers talked about boosting the engines of the Riga-1 moped, Kovrovets-175 and M-103 motorcycles. Now we asked the leading designer of the TsKEB motorcycle industry, K.V. Statsenko, to acquaint motorcyclists with the boost of the IZH-Planet motorcycle. The method he proposes was developed for production machines of the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant. It differs in that the service life of the engine is not reduced with this method, and it operates in the most favorable conditions. You can increase the engine power of the IZH Planet motorcycle from 13 to 18 hp. With. To do this, you need to slightly change the piston, cylinder head, cylinder, carburetor, air cleaner and exhaust pipes, and in addition, re-make the carburetor pipe and mufflers. Rice. 1.

Minsk M-106. Replanting parts

Many owners of Minsk motorcycles of old models - M-1M, M-103, M-104 and M-105 want to increase engine power to 9 hp. i.e., like the currently produced M-106*. The head of the engine bureau of the Minsk Motorcycle Plant, Yu. V. URUSOV, talks about what needs to be done for this. Let us first note that the power is 9 hp. With. on the M-106 it was achieved thanks to a new cylinder and its head, a muffler with an exhaust pipe, an air filter and a K-36S carburetor with a diffuser with a diameter of 24 mm (see “Behind the Wheel”, 1972, No. 1). At the same time, to ensure reliable transmission of the increased torque, the gearbox gears have been strengthened (module 2 is used instead of module 1.75). Bearings 201 in the wheel hubs were replaced with more durable ones - 202. In order for the engines of previous models to have the same parameters as the M-106, it is necessary to borrow from it all the listed innovations. Rice. 1. Development of cylinders M-105 (dotted line) and M-106 (solid line). It is impossible to remake old cylinders, since, firstly, it will not be possible to obtain.

Hello again. A little unusual role for me, but since everyone is writing, then why don’t I go into fiction, otherwise all the boards and circuits are there) In this post I will try to describe in as much detail as possible the result of the search for an elderly BMW 1100-1150 series, and also the work that needs to be done with it and the cost of spare parts. I hope this is useful to someone. I’ll warn you right away - there are few photos, a lot of words.

So, the last motorcycle was damaged)) And since I still wanted to change the class of the motorcycle, I sold it as is, taking into account the discount for restoration. The process of choosing a new motorcycle was far from the easiest. Firstly, my performance characteristics do not allow me to roam around, since with a height of 197 cm, the motorcycle cannot be small by definition. As well as small-capacity ones. And the main use in traffic conditions in Moscow imposes its own restrictions on the class of the motorcycle and its dimensions. Yes, I myself have seen drivers of cruisers and goldwings, whom I had difficulty keeping up with in a traffic jam in my TDM, but apparently I don’t have such talent, and the result of last season additionally put my brains in place in terms of the fact that you need to be able to drive) But That’s not what this post is about... So what is this about? Oh yes, choosing a new motorcycle... This is where the most problems arose. I just didn’t know what I wanted to ride, nothing attracted me. The most important point was the presence of an anti-lock braking system (ABS), since it was the locking of the front wheel in an extreme situation that turned the proud motorcyclist into a sliding creature, albeit a very fast sliding one. By the way, I slipped into a BMW GT. It's just fate.

It would seem that we go to a well-known website, set a price limit, the availability of ABS, and choose... So we didn’t like anything - even something that was beyond the budget. I was thinking about looking at the 900th TDM (unlike mine, which already has an injection system and the presence of ABS) - but it is generally the same as the 850th - the point is to take the same thing.

Cruisers, no matter how much I like them, are not as comfortable in the city as classics and tourists. Geese are prohibitively expensive (all other things being equal, with their counterparts from the BMW R, RS, and even RT - GS series they cost 30 percent more, despite the fact that the cheapest options are literally dead).

Then I remembered that at one time I really liked the BMW R1100R - and it was the 1100s, since the 1150, may the owners and fans forgive me, I did not like in appearance. But after looking at several options both in showrooms and from private owners, I realized that they are also quite tired and will require significant investments.

We are looking further - although we are already choosing from the BMW R1100 and R1150 series, RS and RT series. Moreover, priority on 1100 is not the first, but the second generation of ABS, but, unlike models with servos (1150 and 1200), it is not so delicate and breakable. There is nothing to say about the injector - in terms of equipment, motorcycles from Bavaria have long become trendsetters in technical terms. And here it’s almost like a tube, warm))) And the 1100 series from the Bavarians is almost all the same - small differences in the suspension and body kit - to simplify, these are all 1100 geese, only with different plastic. Yes, the landing is different, and the legs are bent differently - but the base is the same for the entire series. “And that’s good” ©. And as experienced people also told me, back then they didn’t cut everything that was possible.

So, I'm looking for an R1100RT or R1100RT. Since I often ride a motorcycle to the country, the priority was to search for an RT-shki, as it has truly excellent wind protection. But all the models that I looked at in showrooms - or rather 8 pieces, with all the advantages described by the sellers, when checking the auction sheets - turned out to be rubbish on two wheels.

I remember 2 white RT-hi in one of the salons on the Moscow Ring Road. Both are 1996-1998, both have mileage in the region of 50,000, I found auction sheets - not a single 3, average 4. Well, I think it’s super, and I’ll definitely pick up two nearby. I come and look...

Subject No. 1 - the saddle is all torn, as if a bull terrier with teething teeth was put there. The seller says: “If you know, then they had this disease...”. The cardan play in both planes is such that a knock can even be heard. The cardan bites at 3 points. The plastic gaps are uneven all around, there is no plow, the front discs can be used as a rattle.

Subject No. 2 - everything is about the same, only there is no mirror, but there is a plow, and the village is intact, despite the disease. Both are sweating oil as if they decided to lose weight - where there is no plow, they apparently wash the floor, but the second one revealed himself as a puddle in plastic. In general, you understand, I went from there. In other salons the situation is no better. Private owners had only 2 devices not for sale, but the price was very high, I think they were sold at random - if they buy it, great, no - because you need such a cow yourself. And with plastic there are also a lot of worries - disassembling it for maintenance is still a lot of work, and over time the mounting ears become fragile, which makes the task even more difficult.

And then the turquoise R1100RS with white seats caught my eye. Very beautiful, I really liked it, aaaand... also killed) By the way, it is still for sale in that salon.

But I already knew what I would look for.

But PCs are a rather rare species in our country, and there wasn’t much to choose from. I was already thinking about dealing with an order from Japan, which is also a big lottery. The RTs described above had very good auction lists, but even at the BDS auction no one evaluates the technical condition of the components, only noise, smoke and oil leaks. But the same biting cardan entails the following work: replacing the cardan, replacing bearings, replacing oil seals - about 60,000 rubles in total. So think about it after that)

And by chance I find 2 PCs in one of the showrooms – a 2003 r1150rs, and a 1996 r1100rs. I didn’t even have to look for auction sheets; they were posted directly on the website. I checked for correction - everything seems to be the same as with the Japanese. I went to look. Of course, I started with the newer one. The mileage is 23,000, the ABS seems to be without errors, but there is play in the cardan - it bites in position 1 and 1 pot does not work (the injector is clogged or dead). Otherwise, everything is fine.

Version 1100 1996 - mileage 11,000 (judging by the auction sheet - confirmed), ABS gives a floating error (due to a discharged battery), condition - the fly was not sitting. The footrests are not worn out, the grips too (who knows, will understand what I mean), there are no oil leaks, the cardan has no play or snags. Moreover, no one has climbed into it yet - all the fasteners are marked. Essentially almost a new motorcycle. And yes, there is no rust - most likely garage storage in the depths of the island. In the photo below is exactly him:

In general, you should pay attention to rust - this is a very serious problem for aged equipment from Japan. As I managed to find out, they don’t drive there much, since parking is paid, and very often they store motorcycles on the street. And since there is a salty ocean around, the rate of corrosion increases significantly. Pay attention to this - fighting rust can also cost a pretty penny (examples of a motorcycle of the same year, but stored outside).

After thinking about it, I took the 1996 R1100RS. Among the found faults: the rear turn signal bracket was broken during transportation (to be replaced), cracks on both glass panels of the turn signal at the back (seal), scratches on the cylinder covers on both sides (fall on the spot, or transportation), the right corner of the fairing is frayed, there is no pedal axis rear brake, one nut on the muffler flange on the left is missing, dead battery, hazard warning button not working. This is the luggage with which I took it. As you can see - nothing terrible or critical, it would seem - change the oil and brake fluid and go ahead.

But, further into the service, and here everything became more accurate and clearer. I'm probably already tired, so I'll be brief:

  • Changing the oil in the internal combustion engine, gearbox, gearbox
  • Changing the oil in the fork with replacing the oil seals and boots (the oil was flaky, the oil seals and boots could be ok, but they changed it because they didn’t work anyway)
  • Rewinding almost all the wiring, since all the external insulation was crumbling off at my native one (yes, this is a problem with the Germans - 2 rolls of professional rag insulating tape for harnessing wiring in engine compartments and there are no problems.)
  • Cleaning and inspection of all contacts using a special liquid.
  • Replacing the battery - I sold a bunch of old ones for 40 rubles/kg. And I took a new gel Exide specifically for BMW for 2300 rubles
  • Replacing gaskets with a cylinder head roof - relatively inexpensive 1100 per piece
  • Replacing the gaskets of the intake manifolds (manifolds) - there are no visible cracks, but at speed they suck in air and it is impossible to synchronize. Not in Moscow, ordered from England - exactly 96 euros.
  • Replacing brake fluid
  • Replacing brake hoses - if you install original ones made of ordinary rubber - then 5 hoses cost 18,973 rubles. Just for the hoses - I already installed reinforced hoses, I contacted the same office - crimped on special equipment, with the same angles, white reinforced hoses cost me only 5,700 rubles. Think for yourself, decide for yourself.
  • Replacing tires - I drove the ancient Pirelli, the new Shinka, and the new Michelin Pilot Road 3. The choice was simple - Michelin. I searched and found a discounted set of front Pilot Road 4 and rear Road 3 for 16,000. Moreover, the front tire was made in the first week of 2017)
  • Valve adjustment - on these BMWs every 10,000
  • The solution to the problem with light was installing bi-xenon (6,000 rubles.)
  • Synchronization.
  • Replacing the clutch cable - according to information from the forums, a common problem is the separation of the boss at the end of the cable - I decided not to wait and replace it. Not a panacea, since many even have new original cables that last only six months. Let's see, the old one under the seat is used as an emergency repair
  • Lubrication of all components - the motorcycle was disassembled to the ground for inspection - so we lubricated everything that was possible.

The motorcycle is still in service, the manifolds are stuck at customs, but we can already sum up the intermediate result:

  • Spare parts and consumables (all together) - approx. 43,000 rubles
  • Works – 34,000 rubles
  • Insurance and maintenance, registration - I haven’t done it yet, the DCT and PTS are without a date, but I think I can do it within 6,000 rubles.

The motorcycle cost me 223,000 rubles; it costs another 80,000 to bring the motorcycle in very good condition upon purchase to perfect condition in reality.
The whole point is that it stood for a very long time, and most of the jambs are because of this. Many people take a BMW in similar condition, change the oil and start driving. Nothing seems to rattle, the oil is changed often - but everything gradually accumulates and falls out en masse in a very neglected state, so there have been legends about it breaking for a long time. And the prices of many spare parts are scary - but you can always find a reasonable replacement, take the same brake hoses. PS Fortunately, the delay in manifolds does not put so much pressure on the psyche and the desire to ride, since the snow outside the window advises you to stay at home with your family and be patient a little longer)

Thanks to everyone who made it through. I hope this information will be useful.

Reviews from BMW R 1100 RT owners

BMW R 1100 RT, 1996

Let me share my impressions: the BMW R 1100 RT is an excellent motorcycle for the city and for travel. I go to work every day from the region through all the traffic jams to the center (I drop my wife off), and back to the region. Evening in reverse order. In traffic jams it’s like a duck to water, it’s really not wide, because the dimensions are limited by the width of the mirrors, they are in front of your eyes, and they don’t stick out in different directions above the steering wheel. I am 170 cm tall, and there are no problems riding with two people. Make the saddle as high as possible, and everything will be fine (the height is adjustable there). The wind protection of the BMW R 1100 RT is decent; in light rain you drive completely dry. I spent the entire season wearing ventilated gloves, because my hands were covered from the wind by mirrors that diverted the air flow. With a high glass, I don’t even lower the “visor”. In hot weather it ventilates very nicely. I drove 1300 km a day on long-distance trips, without any problems, cruising speed was 140-160 km/h. The wind does not tire you, the gel seat and the fifth point will thank you later. There is nothing complicated in the repair, maintenance is 10 thousand km, synchronization is regular (every maintenance) and problems with engine operation and vibrations disappear. There are problems with ABS, if it does not work, then do not believe that it is the sensor. It is the ABS blocks that often break, and this is not cheap. The boxer engine itself on the BMW R 1100 RT is very cool, torquey, calm, with an unusual and pleasant sound. And breaking through to 100 km/h in 4 seconds on such a “behemoth” is not bad at all. In short, if it weren’t for the craving for off-road, I would have stayed on it. But I want to try Goose.

Advantages

: maneuverable. Very high-torque. Decent wind protection.

Flaws

: problems with ABS.

BMW R 1100 RT, 1998

After the “Goose”, the BMW R 1100 RT seemed like just a huge “cow”. So, what did I get: a fully hooded “tourist” on the chassis of a touring enduro. All sorts of heating and warm air blowing, an adjustable saddle and a huge electric wind deflector, a full set of standard panniers, music. Engine: liter air-oil cooling, structurally simple and also easy to maintain. 4 valves per cylinder with a simple screw-nut adjustment. Hefty and the cylinders stick out. Transmission: five gears, with a rather wide paw and a noisy gearbox, single-plate dry clutch, like an automotive one. The cardan was also one of the advantages of the choice; I was tired of changing and lubricating the chains. The suspension of the BMW R 1100 RT is cantilever, the rear wheel can be removed very quickly. Suspensions: “paralever” at the rear and “telelever” at the front. Looks powerful. Spring preload and rebound adjustable with remote adjustment at the rear, and non-adjustable at the front. Brakes: Two huge discs with 4-piston calipers at the front, 2-piston calipers at the rear. Brembo. ABS. I began to actively use it. Impressions like “cow” were replaced by “warm, cozy, dry, soft and comfortable.” Wind and dirt protection on the BMW R 1100 RT is beyond praise. In the rain on the highway I am dry, clean, listening to music and smoking a cigarette, all at my favorite 110 cruising speed. The engine does not shine with peak power, but is calm and high-torque, like a steam locomotive. If you make a mistake by a couple of gears, it will still take you out. It is economical, which, coupled with a large tank, allows you to travel 400 km from refueling to refueling. But 1000 a day is not a question. The gearbox is noisy, which requires some skill when shifting - first we slightly press the paw in the right direction, then with the release of the gas we slightly touch the clutch - and then the gear flies in softly and silently. But you need to get used to it. Comfortable cruising speed is 110-140, but allows you to throw it under 200, slowly but confidently.

Advantages

: powerful. Good Brakes. Excellent wind protection. Comfort. Music.

Flaws

: noisy box.

BMW R 1100 RT, 1999

So, what did I get? Motorcycle: a fully bonneted tourist with a Tourendura chassis. All sorts of heating and warm air blowing, an adjustable saddle and a huge electric wind deflector, a full set of standard panniers, music. Engine: liter air-oil cooling, structurally simple and also easy to maintain. 4 valves per cylinder with simple screw-nut adjustment, hefty and the cylinders stick out. Transmission: five gears, with a rather wide paw and a noisy gearbox, single-plate dry clutch, like an automotive one. Cardan. This was also one of the advantages of the choice; I was tired of changing and lubricating chains. The suspension of the BMW R 1100 RT is cantilever, the rear wheel can be removed very quickly. Suspensions: “paralever” at the rear and “telelever” at the front. Looks powerful. Adjustable for spring preload and rebound with remote adjustment at the rear, and non-adjustable at the front. Brakes: two huge discs with 4-piston calipers at the front, 2-piston calipers at the rear. Brembo. ABS. The impressions from “what a cow” were replaced by “warm, cozy, dry, soft and comfortable.” Wind and dirt protection on the BMW R 1100 RT is beyond praise. Sometimes 6th gear is not enough. About weight - a loaded and fueled BMW R 1100 RT weighs over 300 kg, but I am quite capable of turning and lifting it. Reliability: in the first month and a half after purchase, it was covered in oil. There were no questions about the engine, but the fork, transmission and gearbox required replacing the cuffs. Once in Kazakhstan the fuel pump “ran out”. I think it was my fault - I had to replace the fuel filter, I was too lazy, but it hasn’t changed in my life. It was easily repaired with a fuel pump from a VAZ 2110 and a car filter.

Advantages

: super comfortable, economical and simple backpacker for traveling for two,

Flaws

: noisy box. Sometimes 6th gear is missing.
