JSC "Plant named after. V.A. Degtyarev" is a machine-building enterprise whose history began back in 1916. Since then, our plant has constantly progressed, improved production lines and expanded the range of products. Today we specialize in the production of motorcycles, agricultural equipment, spare parts for them, as well as a variety of LED products. The company was awarded three times with orders of the Soviet Union and continues to proudly work for the benefit of the Motherland, constantly modernizing and quickly responding to changing market demands.
Model history
The 3-wheeled motorcycle ZiD Farmer (aka ZDK-5.904) has a thirty-year history. It was originally designed for use in rural areas, which is why everything in its parts is adapted for off-road driving. The prototypes for Farmer were the Sova motorcycle and the ZDK-175-4ShP four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle, which were produced at the same Kovrov plant.
In the mid-1990s, based on the Farmer motorcycle, two models were created - the two-wheel rear-wheel drive “ZDK-200 2ShP” and the all-wheel drive Tarzan. Unfortunately, in the 2000s, the production of all of the listed models was suspended by the V.A. Plant. Degtyareva. This has nothing to do with the outdated technical characteristics of the motorcycles - due to financial difficulties, the company abandoned the production of all its original products. Instead, the plant focused on custom motorcycles made from foreign parts. For example, since 2004, the ZiD Lifan has been assembled with a Chinese engine, which, by the way, can also be installed on the Farmer.

Flaws
- It is very noisy when driving.
- Weak grip, discs wear out quickly.

Design
The farmer has a rather rough appearance, it seems outdated (which is understandable, because it was developed in 1993 and the design has never been changed since then). In addition, it is worth considering that the motorcycle was designed for rural areas, so they did not specifically add urban gloss and sporty style to it. The ZiD Farmer tricycle comes off the assembly line in three colors - black, red, yellow. Owners often carry out tuning with their own hands - most often the all-terrain vehicle is painted green (“camouflage”).

Device
The frame with seat and fuel tank were taken from the Farmer's ancestor - ZiD Sova. The ZDK-P two-stroke single-cylinder gasoline engine and rear axle completely replicate the ZDK-200 2ShP power system. Cooling occurs by air using a centrifugal fan.
The front and rear suspensions with spring-hydraulic shock absorbers are original (that is, not found in analogues). They were developed at the Degtyarev Plant specifically for wide tricycle wheels.
The Farmer was produced in two versions depending on the engine. ZiD 200 Farmer is a modification with a 196.90 cm³ diesel engine. ZiD 172 Farmer, as the name suggests, is equipped with a 172 cc engine.
The engine responds instantly to the throttle. You can move away even in second gear. In cold weather, the engine also starts perfectly, but it requires warming up for 2-4 minutes.
The installed tubeless wide wheels YA-417 allow you to force quite deep snow and overcome marshy surfaces. The bad thing is that the rear wheels and shock absorbers sit on a splined surface that is only 2 centimeters long. Because of this, when moving, the wheels quickly become loose and break the connection.

How much does it cost and where to buy
According to information on the official website, it has been discontinued. Accordingly, you won’t be able to buy a new tricycle directly from the manufacturer. The plant produces analogues of a three-wheeled motorcycle: ZDK, Barkhan, ZiD-50-02.
On the secondary market, you can purchase a ZiD Farmer 200 at a price of 30 to 70 thousand rubles (the cost, of course, depends on the technical condition of the motorcycle).

Advantages and disadvantages
