BRP Ski-Doo Skandic SWT V-800 4-TEC is a universal utilitarian class snowmobile, endowed with unique parameters. This machine is characterized by high fuel efficiency, high traction force and excellent handling. The device was developed in the design bureau of BRP - a Canadian developer of snowmobiles, which is considered one of the best manufacturers of such special equipment. The products of the Canadian brand have always stood out for their high quality workmanship and reliability. The model in question is suitable for lovers of extreme walks and long journeys, and will also be an ideal solution for fishing and hunting needs. The Skido Scandic SVT BRP is a very productive device that balances all the most important qualities necessary for comfortable and uninterrupted operation in harsh climatic conditions - for example, in the northern regions of Russia. Let's pay attention to the special geometry of the driver's seat - this feature provides a comfortable position for the operator so that he can stretch his legs and they will not become numb during a long trip. The center of gravity is located under the seat, and the seat itself is shifted to the front. This arrangement has a beneficial effect on the endurance of the driver, who gets less tired and can cover long routes. In addition, the use of such a platform reduced the weight of the snowmobile by 15 percent.
The Skido Scandic SVT BRP is a modern machine based on the technologically advanced REV-XU platform. This chassis is characterized by high dynamism and strength characteristics. Thanks to the aluminum frame, it was possible not only to reduce the weight of the snowmobile, but also to make handling more understandable and informative. The driver will not have to guess in which position the skis are turned, which is very important when performing maneuvers in difficult to reach areas - for example, in the wilderness or when making a turn. In the basic configuration, the car is a two-seater, but the multifunctional modular seat can be made into a single seat by quickly removing the rear passenger seat. By the way, each seat has a backrest. The seat height is adjustable and allows you to ride sitting or standing.
Main features of the snowmobile:
- Customizable steering wheel with adjustments for a specific driver, based on his height and build
- Unique SC-5U rear suspension with a sporty-utilitarian component. This chassis is designed specifically for sports snowmobiles. It is suitable for overcoming the most difficult areas, including snowy and icy roads, as well as deep snowdrifts.
- The front suspension is of a telescopic type, abbreviated as LTS. You can reveal the capabilities of this suspension in deep snow, as well as on rough terrain.
- To increase cross-country ability and directional stability, the snowmobile is equipped with a wide track.
- Halogen headlights are installed at the front and rear, improving visibility and visibility at night, as well as in bad weather (blizzard, blizzard, etc.)
- Digital instrument panel, which displays various information - speed readings, engine speed, current mileage and other parameters.
- Synchromesh gearbox, adapted to any load. The gearbox has two forward and one reverse speeds, which ensure smooth operation regardless of weather and road conditions, as well as road factors.
- Narrow skis Pilot DS2, the peculiarity of which lies in their thin and tapered structure. Despite this shape, the skis are highly durable and resistant to all kinds of damage and deformation. In addition, thanks to these skis, it was possible to improve cross-country ability and maneuverability, including due to lower gearing.
- The high windshield provides protection from headwinds or snow hitting the driver's face.
BRP Skido Scandic SVT is a multifunctional snowmobile that can compare with the capabilities of a reliable off-road vehicle, ready to conquer any peaks. The device is relatively stable and safe on any road or off-road surface. It can be used for recreation and hunting, as well as other strenuous work.

Outlander 800R-X XC
The Can-Am Outlander 800R X was developed in close collaboration with professional racers who competed in the popular Can-Am GNCC racing series. After running several races in the series, BRP decided to apply their experience to develop the Outlander 800X.
According to the company's management team, the experience of the riders should serve as an excellent service for new generations of ATV enthusiasts. All this convincingly proves that today Can-Am is developing and offering its customers unique, specific, niche models that will be in demand. The company also listens not only to the opinions of the racers, but also to its industrial partners, which is also a rather important point that ensures the development of the models produced, as well as the company as a whole. Experts expect that the company's new models will be highly appreciated by both professionals and amateur enthusiasts.
The Outlander X test drive convincingly proves how very different this car is from the Renegade and Outlander we are used to. The model is characterized by excellent racing qualities, excellent technical characteristics, excellent design, beautiful appearance, borrowed from its predecessors. The developers were given the task: to convert ordinary 4x4 projects into modern sports cars capable of participating in speed competitions. All Can-Am models have always been endowed with sporting potential, but often buyers were still forced to choose between the Renegade and Outlander. Today Can-Am released an all-new model that is designed for users who want an ATV that embodies the best features of both machines.

Outlander MAX XT 800R LTD 2012
If we talk about the best of the best, then we will undoubtedly talk about the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited ATV. BRP CAN-AM MAX XT 800 Limited is a limited edition of stylish ATVs for stylish people.
BRP specialists have taken the best innovations and characteristics of their previous lines and combined them into one model. However, simply combining the best seemed insufficient to the developers. As a result, the main pride of the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited was its powerful 800 cubic centimeter engine and maneuverability incomparable to other models in the line. Today, the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited ATV can safely be called universal. Only this model combines a whole range of application possibilities. At the discretion of the owner, it can be intended for traveling with a passenger, transporting large cargo, or carrying a luggage box. For those who still want to use this all-terrain vehicle for its intended purpose, BRP specialists have prepared another pleasant surprise. The narrow, completely smooth SST frame, which has no analogues among its competitors, will allow the owner of the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited to overcome any obstacle, gliding over it like on skis. The brake discs of the model are located not in the wheel hub, but on the drive shafts. This helps protect the rims from damage and dirt and reduce the unsprung weight of the wheel.
As for racing characteristics, thanks to the 4-stroke V-shaped engine 800 cm3. with EFI injection it leaves its rivals behind in all respects. Including power equal to 62 hp. The Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited also didn’t disappoint with an integral attribute of a real all-terrain vehicle – the differential lock. The impeccably proven 'Visco Lok' self-locking differential and independent suspension with a ground clearance of 30.5 cm with a minimum number of parts, reinforced at the rear with torsion bar stiffness arms, allow you to forget about lock switches and maintain course regardless of the speed and nature of the terrain.
All of the above characteristics can certainly be considered as advantages. The conclusion here is obvious - the Outlander 800R MAX XT Limited is the most modern all-terrain vehicle available on the market today, leaving no chance for its competitors.
BRP Ski-Doo GSX SE 800R 2012 - Comfortable “lighter”
We know now is not the best time to buy a new snowmobile.
What to do if you want to ride, but your budget is limited? Read our long-term tests of once popular, but now just good and inexpensive snowmobiles. Premium blend, with afterburners There are people in the world for whom speed is most important. And every time a new model of comfortable snowmobile comes on the market, these snobs snort and give hundreds of reasons why their sled is better than this sluggish limousine. Firstly, if your sled is not racing, then what kind of racer are you? Secondly, machines such as the Ski-Doo GSX SE with a reliable 800R engine with an E-TEC system under the hood both take off and maintain speed in turns no worse than wild snowcross snowmobiles. Still don't believe me? Here's another fact: Last January at the Original Real World Shootout, our test sled 2012 GSX went from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Most cars DREAM of these kinds of results, but most snowmobiles don't even dream of such speeds. This figure is only 0.1 second slower than the Arctic Cat XF 1100 Turbo Sno Pro. The GSX SE 800R was even 0.05 seconds faster than the speedy Polaris 800 Rush Pro-R from 0 to 60 mph. If you like drag racing on lakes, then you will, of course, need a more serious model. But, to tell the truth, most of us just ride on snowy trails, and for this, acceleration from a standstill and cornering speed are much more important. This is where the real fun is!
Ready for anything.
Superb handling and excellent forest road suspension mean the GSX is ready for whatever you throw at it. We've enjoyed Ski-Doo's X platform in all its variations for years. GSX is no exception. In all the parameters that are important to us: speed, controllability, maneuverability, ride comfort and ergonomics - this modification is one of the best in its class. We tested the GSX SE 800R all winter last year and couldn't think of anything to complain about. All our drivers were satisfied. Many noted that driving at speed was exciting, but at the same time incredibly comfortable. The 800cc E-TEC engine is a torquey beast with excellent low-end power. The leading TRA VII variator and the driven QRS variator provide smooth acceleration and high accelerator sensitivity. There are sleds that will propel you through the snow like a rocket, but this one comes out of corners with incredible confidence and will easily keep you on the tail of your comrades' fast sleds. This is partly due to the well-designed platform and the fact that the skis stay firmly on the ground as you accelerate into turns. The 1.25-inch textured lugs on the new RipSaw track provide reliable traction, especially on fresh, powdery snow. We were also pleased with the Pilot 5.7 skis, since they practically do not lead on snow. Yes, some suspensions look much more impressive, but the rear-mounted SC-5 with air shock absorbers provides up to 16 inches of travel and leaves a most pleasant impression. Even if the raid is turned into a “comb”, this will not be a hindrance for you. The pneumatic shock absorbers can be easily adjusted to suit conditions on the go, so you don't have to stop every time the raid gets worse. The GSX's 137-inch track smoothes out any bumps on the road. We were also pleasantly surprised by fuel consumption. The average for the entire season was 15.6 mpg (approx. 15 l/100 km). In terms of this indicator, for the whole of last year it was surpassed only by the excellent Yamaha Vector GT snowmobile with an incredible figure of 18.8 mpg (approx. 12.5 l/100 km). But for an 800 cc engine, which consumes no more than a liter of oil every second fill-up, this is quite good. The season before, another snowmobile with a similar engine, the Renegade, showed an even better result - 17.2 mpg (approx. 13.7 l/100 km) for the entire season of operation. Most of these engines typically get around 10-12 mpg (approx. 23.5-19.6 L/100 km), so this is a really respectable figure. Just keep in mind that this snowmobile runs on 91 gasoline.
Faster than the wind
Recently, fewer and fewer snowmobiles are equipped with a normal windshield. Real battles are about who has less. And Ski-doo was the biggest disruptor of peace and quiet with their microscopic glass (what are you already thinking?). But fortunately, the GSX was equipped with glass, which properly protects from the wind, so the snow won’t cover your face. The SE trim adds heated seats so you can walk up to the sled, push a button, and sit in a warm seat. At the same time, the seat is soft enough to smooth out bumps, but you won’t be able to slip out of it during a turn either, thanks to the reliable covering. We guess that not everyone likes to let other people sit behind the wheel of their snowmobile, as we do during our tests. But if you share your sled with a wife or child, you'll be pleased to be able to easily change the steering angle on the GSX. We have quite tall drivers and they like to push the handles as far back as possible, poor long-armed creatures. I'm about six-footer and I love position 2. We can't help but mention the GSX's electric start, push-button reverse, and mirrors so you can see how far behind you your teammates are. And of course, no review of Ski-doo's 2012 models is complete without praising its storage compartments. For years, designers thought it didn't make any sense, but now Ski-doo has a 12-liter rear-seat rack so you can carry a can of water, a hat, and more. The GSX also comes with a bag in which you can put gloves or a warm jacket. Bravo!

GSX SE 800R has air rear suspension
DRIVERS' OPINION
“This is perhaps the most comfortable “touring” snowmobile I have ridden. I really liked the air suspension. Heated seats are a must! The ability to change the position of the handles will come in very handy if the same sled is used by different people and for different driving styles (if that’s something you’re interested in, of course).” Ryan Welthum, AmSnow tester
“The GSX has great handling. I really liked the ability to change rear suspension settings on the fly. The 800 E-TEC engine produces excellent power and throttle response while consuming very little fuel and oil. Great all-around snowmobile." Les Pints, AmSnow tester

ATV Outlander MAX 800 XT-P 2013
If you find off-road driving too harsh, then when you sit in the Outlander MAX 800 XT-P, you will understand what real softness is. After all, there are gas shock absorbers, and they are installed not only in the front, but also in the rear, which guarantees a pleasant ride in any case. Do not forget also that this method of transportation is also good because of the ATV itself, which is assembled almost entirely from aluminum, and even its wheels are also made from this light metal. The braking system, where each wheel has a series of sensitive sensors, allows you to stop the ATV even on steep descents, so you will never find yourself in an unpleasant situation while behind the wheel of the Outlander MAX 800 XT-P.
For tourism and more
This is certainly convenient for the mass buyer: when choosing a snowmobile, he can only be guided by his own requirements for engine power, the variety of additional equipment, as well as his own financial capabilities.
At the same time, any model will be as comfortable as possible for both the driver and the passenger. Most “tourists” (with the exception, perhaps, of very budget models) are already equipped as standard with an electric starter and reverse, an electronic instrument panel, as well as a modular seat, rear-view mirrors, a high windshield and even electrically heated steering wheel grips.
A distinctive design feature of tourist snowmobiles is their wide ski base, which makes them stable both when moving in a straight line and when turning.
Ski-Doo Legend Touring V-800
The name of this model speaks for itself: it is truly a “legendary” model, which is maximally suitable for long-distance travel. Engineers at Bombardier Recreational Products call it "the perfect choice for safari."
The snowmobile is built on the RF aluminum platform, the prototype of which, in turn, was the REV sports chassis. It was designed so that the engine was located in the base, behind the front suspension. This design made it possible to reduce the load on the skis, place a fairly large 800 cc engine as compactly as possible and, ultimately, improved the handling of the snowmobile.
This arrangement was once tested on the REV platform of sports snowmobiles and, having confirmed its effectiveness in competitions, began to be used on the “mass” RF chassis.
For the 2006/2007 season, Legend Touring received a new Rotax 4-Tec V-800 engine, already known from the Can-Am Outlander Max 800 ATV and now migrated to Lynx and Ski-Doo series snowmobiles. With a working volume of 799 cubic meters. cm engine develops 65 hp. With. and spins up to 7250 rpm. The electronic distributed fuel injection system (EFI - Electronic Fuel Injection) with two injectors ensures reliable engine starting in the most severe frosts. It is also important that the new engine has increased the traction characteristics of the snowmobile and significantly increased the cruising range per fill-up.
Ski-Doo GTX 600 SDI Limited
The word “Limited” in the name of this snowmobile directly indicates a rich package. Equipped with GTX 600 Ltd. includes almost all the equipment that improves rider comfort that exists today in the snowmobile industry: from an electric starter and electric reverse to heated steering grips, from a modular seat to removable hard luggage bags.
But the main thing, perhaps, is not even this, but the fact that the GTX 600 SDI Ltd. - this is not even a two-, but a three-seater (!) model, and when going on a trip with the whole family, you don’t have to think about what the child will ride on (there are, of course, special children’s snowmobiles, but kids are unlikely to be able to maintain the pace on this parental movements). At the same time, the modular seat of the snowmobile can be easily transformed into either a double or single seat. In a three-seater configuration, it can even support three adults: the rear shock absorbers automatically adjust the suspension height depending on the load and road conditions.
Well, there will be no lack of dynamics in any case: the snowmobile is equipped with a 600 cc engine with fuel injection producing 116 hp. With. – perhaps the best in the line of BRP two-stroke engines. At least in terms of emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere and fuel consumption, this engine is only slightly inferior to the more economical and environmentally friendly four-stroke engines.
Ski-Doo GTX 550F
This snowmobile is a budget “entry-level” model, which is not inferior in functionality to more expensive representatives of this class. Therefore, the GTX 550 F is suitable not only for beginners, but also for those buyers who, for one reason or another, need a second snowmobile; It is also in good demand among rental companies.
The suspension of the device is the same as that of older models: lever, on double A-shaped arms, with anti-roll bar at the front and SC-136 with HPG shock absorber at the rear. The design is based on the REV aluminum platform.
The Rotax 550F motor (57 hp, capable of spinning up to 7000 rpm) allows the snowmobile to reach speeds of up to 120 km/h. Moreover, due to the air cooling system, this engine is relatively light, unpretentious and not prone to overheating in light snow.
In general, this particular model can be recommended to novice “riders”, as well as to those who are not yet ready to invest significant funds in the purchase of a snowmobile: the device is quite economical, and it will be very difficult for an inexperienced user to disable it...

2015 Ski-Doo 800 Summit X 174 T3 Snowmobile Review
Longer and narrower Summit X
Since its introduction in 2013, the Ski-Doo XM Summit (X and SP) has amassed a strong following. The XM Summit's competitors (Polaris RMK Pro and Arctic Cat M8000 Sno Pro) had a hard time. For the 2015 model year, Ski-Doo made life even more difficult for Polaris and Arctic Cat.
With the new 16-inch wide PowderMax3 track, the Ski-Doo T3 Summit X 163 / 174 takes the snowmobile to the next level.
Unfortunately, we were not able to spend enough time behind the wheel of the new product, so for the most part we will try to present the thoughts and results of the meeting with the Ski-Doo designers and designers, as well as our impressions of contemplating the company’s driver, who demonstrated amazing maneuvers on the new snowmobile.
The long chassis, tall three-inch (76 mm) track lugs and roomy running boards make the T3 Summit the mountain sled of your dreams. The painted tunnel minimizes the freezing of snow and ice, which has a positive effect on weight.
Our test driver still managed to drive the 174 model a little, but more on that later.
We already wrote about the model's specifications in the material about the 2015 Ski-Doo lineup, so in this article we will not repeat ourselves, but will present only driving impressions.
Undoubtedly, having increased their Western market share this past season, Ski-Doo is determined to take on Polaris with their wildly popular Pro RMK model. Since the release of the XM Summit, there has been a fierce battle between these two manufacturers for leadership in the mountain snowmobile class.
The T3 Summit X, whether it's a 163 or 174 model, gets a new Response Angle Suspension (RAS) 2 front suspension with 12mm longer forged spindles. Moreover, they are slightly lighter than the spindles on the old Summit X.
It is easy to launch the T3 into such sharp maneuvers, especially in very deep snow. Notice the excellent positioning of the arms and body.
To reduce weight, the T3 Summit X (and all Summit X models) features a lightweight muffler and gears. The manufacturer says that despite the increased track length, these new Summits weigh exactly the same as the previous year's models.
There's no doubt that Ski-Doo puts their money where their mouth is. The T3 Summit should drive and perform like the designers say it will. You can remember, for example, the 2000 snowmobile - Summit Highmark X 151 700, which was the first ultra-long mountain snowmobile. At that time, 136-inch and 141-inch mountain models were the norm. In truth, the 141-inch-long tracks were considered an oddity. But Ski-Doo then beat all its competitors.
Thus, T3 continues the work of its predecessors.
Let's start with the similarities. Like the XM Summit X, the T3 Summit is powered by an 800cc Rotax two-cylinder, two-stroke engine – the 800 R E-TEC. Is this a good motor? Yes, simply amazing. At the rear, the T3 features tMotion suspension and FlexEdge track technology. The exclusive PowderMax 3 track boasts three-inch (76 mm) lugs, 12 millimeters longer than the Summit X 146, 154 and 163. The T3 also features unique seven-tooth drive gears and a longer chain guard, not found on the Summit X .
The 174-inch track with three-inch lugs on the 2015 Ski-Doo T3 sets a new standard in the mountain sled class.
Since our time behind the wheel of the T3 174 was very limited, some questions remained. Will the 174 have a bend in the tunnel and bulkhead area? When a driver jumps from a high cliff, will the tunnel collapse from the impact, or will the running boards bend down? Look at it this way: a one-meter board may be difficult to bend in the middle, but a four-meter board will bend and bend until it breaks.
We don't have the technical information or driving experience to prove or disprove this. These are just questions, not serious concerns.
Ski-Doo began testing T3 Summit X prototypes in the mountains shortly after the XM Summit X hit showrooms in 2013. The manufacturer assured us that the T3 Summit X 163 and 174 have been thoroughly inspected and tested. And I want to believe these statements, because it is unlikely that Ski-Doo wants to release an unfinished product into the mountains.
The Ski-Doo driver stretches out and launches the T3 Summit X 163 into a crazy turn. On T3 such maneuvers are easy.
Boondocking and mountain driving in waist-deep snow is surprisingly easy on the 163 T3. We've seen the driver speed down a hill, turn around in the final third, turn the nose of the T3 Summit X 163 up, then apply some or all of the throttle and launch up the hill as if the snowmobile were on flat ground and packed snow.
Even if you put the wrong foot forward or keep them on the appropriate footrest, you can confidently do figure eights on a 30-degree descent.
However, during 180-degree turns from the descent, one of the skis tended to sink into the soft snow, turning over and stopping the snowmobile. This also caused some concerns about the Pilot DS 3 skis.
For T3 owners, Ski-Doo has prepared a special additional ski tip that increases the width of the front part, which will help when riding in incredibly deep snow. This may fix the problem described above.
The track, with its three-inch flanges, propels the sled forward like it's running on rocket fuel. Other mountain sleds would have gotten stuck, but not the T3.
As it turns out, the 174 T3 is not that easy to control on packed snow. The 174-inch model loves deep snow, but in hard, rutted snow it starts to bully the driver. Jumping and riding across slopes is more difficult than on other shorter mountain snowmobiles. And it lives up to the design of this model - the T3 174 is designed for incredibly deep and difficult snow.
Test driver impressions
When you start listing the necessary elements to create a great mountain sled, you can't help but mention a powerful 800cc two-stroke engine, essential mountain-grade ergonomics, an aggressive mountain track, and light weight for handling. Add to this a suspension designed for deep snow, and you get a lot of impressions. So how is the Summit T3 doing?
Let's remember how two years ago BRP showed the XM Summit chassis. Even though the XM Summit was the heaviest of the 800cc two-stroke mountain sleds, it was very easy to ride and had incredible ergonomics. How did BRP make an already very successful platform even better? The manufacturer added huge three-inch track hooks on the 163 and 174-inch versions - the largest ever!
According to the test driver, the T3 Summit 163 or 174 is equally pleasant to drive both in the mountains and on packed snow and meadows.
At first, the track with its huge three-inch ridges raised some doubts. Previous such tracks from third-party manufacturers left mixed impressions. The fact is that to install such a high track, you need to install tension wheels of a smaller diameter and change the gear ratios by changing the gears. If this is not done, the disadvantages of such a track will outweigh all the advantages. Any doubts were erased when I learned that Ski-Doo had lengthened the chain guard and repositioned the front drive wheel. Yes, its diameter is smaller, but due to the lengthening of the chain drive casing, the geometry and angles are correct. It is also clear that there is plenty of distance between the front heat exchanger and the track.
In addition to the monster track, the T3 features new front spindles, skis, and a host of lightweight parts to compensate for the increased track length and height.
Personally, I liked the T3 163 better. The three-inch PowderMax 3 track is incredible and takes the world of mountain sleds to the next level. Even in the most difficult conditions, such as steep tree-filled slopes, it is possible to move at low speed, adjust course and not get stuck.
To ensure the 174-inch Summit weighs no more than last year's Summit X 163, Ski-Doo designers kept some components as light as possible. The new muffler (on the right in the photo), for example, is lighter and more compact than its predecessor.
Now we see the T3 Summit as a real revolutionary in the segment of mountain models. This is a well-built and calibrated mountain sled, from the engine to the clutch settings to the incredibly powerful track.
Finally, the only issue I had was with the Pilot DS 3 skis. When going through 180-degree turns on the descent, the uphill ski would dive into the snow, stopping the sled abruptly. It might have been because of the snow, but I'll have to check again.
But for now, the T3 Summit feels like a plush mountain sled.
Conclusion
The T3 Summit X 163 and 174 are capable of setting a new standard in the mountain snowmobile segment and, figuratively speaking, changing the rules of the game. It's not entirely clear how much, but Ski-Doo appears to have created a product that could lure away fans of other brands.
