Lots of photos and poorly organized thoughts. It's been almost a year since I parted with my first motorcycle.

This is what it looked like right after purchase. This was the first off-road trip. And the first breakdown, just 400 km of total mileage after the purchase - the 3rd gear broke down (I knew about this problem, but I didn’t think it would overtake me, and so soon). We were lucky - we found the right gear, split the engine, at the same time inspected the insides, made sure that everything was fine and put it back together...

After that he served faithfully. Never let me down on the road. Always brought home from the deepest fucks. We have driven at least 40 thousand km in 2 seasons. Both in the heat and in the cold. I traveled around the city a lot as a courier. But he also regularly participated in enduro (there are silent photos here from different times) rides, for which he had a second set of 21/18 wheels on toothy tires. 20-30 minutes and the motard turns into enduro. Or rather, initially it was an enduro, and later a set of 17″ wheels from Qingqi QM200GY-B (aka Baltmotors, SkyMoto, Liger and others like them) was purchased. I received the motorcycle with some modifications from the previous owner. — Renthal Fatbar steering wheel — adapters for 28mm Zeta steering wheel — HiFlo air filter — enlarged jets — FMF MicroCore can (from 2T, the sound is just hellish :) ) — Michelin AC-10 tires — traction bars in the wheels — Chinese reinforced protection for hands/levers a- for Acerbis - a normal Wessem headlight All this made it possible to bludgeon quite confidently through forests/fields/sand/logs/steps and other enduro delights.

By the way, in enduro rides quite often we found ourselves in the company of Japanese and Austrian motorcycles and much more experienced pilots than me. Nevertheless, I drove everywhere where more serious colleagues were driving. And how nice it was to hear something like: “Wow, it drives Chinese just fine!” or “Even though he’s Chinese, he’s doing great!” Perhaps the Japanese roots are telling - the motorcycle is copied from the Suzuki DR-200. And quite successfully. I also felt great in the city - there were no traffic jams. As well as bad roads. Mot went where I wanted. Steps, parapets, edges, underground and overground passages, all sorts of nooks and crannies, etc., fortunately, the rich extreme cycling past allowed us to fantasize and feel confident.

Of course, sometimes such a ride was extremely unpleasant.:) For example, pedestrians. Or the security guards of underground shopping complexes. But forgive me here - in order not to act out on enduro/cm you need to be completely phlegmatic... I was pleased with the fuel consumption, which was not much more than that of the previous charged fifty-kopeck scooter. Modifications made by me: - 520th sprocket/chain set - short-stroke throttle grip - LED turn signals and stop - "grouse" of the rear sprocket - increasing the stroke of the rear shock absorber - increasing the rigidity of the fork - removing the right remote control - spacers under the steering wheel to increase the height of the last one mini-long distance travel 220 km one way. Did not like. In a cross-country helmet, with a crazy exhaust, driving 90 on the highway is a torment, but you can do it if necessary.

I have a friend, so he punished guys on Japanese-Austrians at local competitions on a seriously tuned QM200GY. Even on slicks. Or with a broken rear wheel. But here there is, as they say, a “gasket” ;)

In short, the 2nd season was coming to an end, the motorcycle brought only joy. From what was changed as it broke down (I consider it all consumables) - bearings and seals in all (4 pieces) wheels (1 time) - shock absorber ball joint (1 time) - oil seals and oil in the fork (2 times) - battery ( 2 times) - brake pads (2 times) - chain (cheap, Izhevskaya) (7 times) - chamber R18 (1 time) - front fender (1 time) - muzzle (1 time) - muffler packing (2 times) - tire R21 (1 time) - tire R18 (2 times) - tire R17 (2 times) - gearbox foot seal (1 time) - engine protection (1 time) And of course oil and oil filters. I was saddened by the very shitty fork (the upside-down fork on similar bikes is much better, especially after simple modifications). At the same time, the rear suspension did not cause any complaints. Overall I think this bike is good. Especially seeing how the owners of other Chinese such as Geon X-Road, Loncin Pruss, Viper MXR, Lifan Cossak, etc. suffer and spit. Despite the fact that their operating conditions were not even half as good as mine. It is not overly powerful, which is a positive for a beginner who needs to get used to the bike. He will let you know where to move next and what motorcycle to buy next, what riding style you like. It is easy to control, despite its 135 kg weight. Gears shift clearly, the clutch is light (I cut the stock handle to fit 1 finger). With the right skill, a motorcycle can do a lot, especially on the right tires. Of course, improvements are needed (China, after all), but this is more of a plus for me (I like to turn nuts, to some extent). Good, flexible plastic, which, by the way, is not installed on all QM200GYs - on motards it is hard and breaks. Excellent price-quality ratio, despite the fact that I don’t see any competitors for this motorcycle. Perhaps everyone knows what feeling the first motorcycle gives. That’s how it is with me - I love him very much. Thanks to Matador, I learned and tried what enduro is. And I liked it. And thanks to Matador, I met a lot of excellent and reliable people, like-minded people.

Sooner or later this had to happen - my Matador was not enough for me. And if I learned to cope with the lack of power, the suspension was frankly infuriating, especially the fork, and the brakes were still rather weak.

Therefore, a cross-country Kayaba 1995 was purchased. All the necessary spacers and adapters were machined, bearings were purchased for the steering wheel, a Nissin front brake... But I ended the season much earlier - an unfortunate accident (the first in 2 seasons) - I was turning left from the main road, where the driver came out and blew me away. Fortunately, the speeds were not high, the helmet worked, as did the jacket, but the sneakers weren’t very good (but I do enduro in boots) - a severe bruise to the foot. Well, thanks for that. The matador got more - a fender, a muzzle, plastic tank and side, a front brake, traverses, a clutch and gas handle, a left remote control, a gearbox foot and a driver's footrest, an upper engine mount to the frame... They settled the issue with the carrier on the spot - he reimbursed it.

To say that I was upset is to say nothing.
It seemed like a real grief to me, especially when I walked into the garage and saw a broken motorcycle. And they gave up on doing anything with him. But by chance I came across an advertisement in which a man wanted to exchange his motorcycle for a QM200GY. I offered him an exchange, he agreed, and then I immediately suspected something was wrong. I thought carefully and decided that a new endurik was not in the cards for me (considering the financial situation), and it was not very rational to restore the Matador, from which it had already outgrown, I decided to take a risk. The matador was sent by a transport company. So I became the owner of a 1994 Honda CR250. But that's a completely different story.

Test drive Qingqi QM200GY motard

In Russia, the Qingqi QM200GY motard is known thanks to the Kaliningrad company Baltmotors, which has been selling it for many years under the name BM Motard 200. I offer a short review of this motorcycle from the Ukrainian magazine Scooter, where, however, it is called Dragon 200, but this does not change the essence.

In a cage And here we are standing near the hospitable Motohata and looking at the 200 cc Drakosha. This motorcycle is beautiful in its own way. Typical motard silhouette, spoked wheels, disc brakes, wide steering wheel. There is also a powerful fork, a monoshock absorber, a narrow saddle and a tiny tidy. In general, a real “street hooligan”. The manufacturer, the Chinese company Qingqi, tried to ensure that the owner of the motard does not have problems with the traffic police: the necessary electrical appliances are in place, there is even a sound signal. In the mirrors, however, little is visible. But for a motard this is not an essential item. The assembly is top notch - everything fits and is screwed in properly. The motorcycle looks like an A+. The Dragon's 200cc carburetor burbles pleasantly as it warms up. I look at the device with a million tiny numbers and lights that make my eyes dazzle. There is a speedometer, tachometer, mechanical trip meter, headlight indicator, turn indicator and gear indicator - an extremely useful and necessary thing. The headlight is small but bright. Its light is visible on a cloudy day from half a kilometer away. Rear stop - 1 5 brightest LEDs. The bike is also equipped with a large side stand. It’s difficult to reach it with your foot blindly because you’re not used to it. And one more detail - the engine starts in neutral using an electric starter - this is foolproof protection.

Field tests We decided to test the bike in its “native element”, on city obstacles. Under the surprised glances of passers-by, our tester quickly climbed the spiral staircase on his bike. Fortunately, there were no cops nearby. The first conclusion is that the Dragon can climb stairs! It turned out that the motard has a long list of talents. The Dragon overcomes small steps, edges and hills effortlessly. The pendants work perfectly - Chinese craftsmen did their best. An air-cooled engine with a vacuum carburetor sometimes does not start right away - you have to turn the starter. But, already started and warmed up, the engine holds speed well. Experts recommend replacing the factory oil in such engines with branded oil immediately after purchase. I’ll add on my own that it would be nice to take another tire. The stock Kingstone slips, especially in wet weather. When starting abruptly or getting into a puddle, the rear wheel slips. Riding around the city, I was convinced that the Dragon is a good bike and is quite suitable for beginners. The riding position on it is closer to that of a classic motorcycle. The footpegs are not very well suited for the city, where you actively work the clutch. Jagged pieces of iron that you can stand on dig into the sole of your boot. They prevent you from moving your foot to change gear. It doesn’t interfere with life, but you have to get used to it.

City reptile The Dragon's gearbox is clear, although it can be difficult to get into first gear from a standstill. The presser travel is large - this is where the gear indicator comes in handy. The most comfortable speeds for driving around the city are third and fourth. It’s best to “embroider” on them between obstacles without losing traction. Fifth gear is suitable for high-speed flights in a straight line. Anyone who drives small-capacity “single-barrel” cars knows that their engine usually pulls at 3000 rpm. A more or less tolerable pickup starts at 4 thousand. The dragon is no exception. It is better to ensure that its speed does not drop sharply. Then good traction will be ensured. At high speed, the non-rigid tubular frame makes itself felt - the Dragon wags its tail. The feeling is not very pleasant, but this bike was not designed for “annealing”. The recommended maximum speed here is only 95 km/h. But in nature he is in his element. While riding around Trukhanov Island, I once again mentally thanked the suspension designer. The Dragon practically does not notice speed bumps. It is also not afraid of bad asphalt. On our roads you can safely drive 60-70 km/h. And the motard's brakes are wonderful. Due to the strong “waviness”, it is difficult for me to determine the diameter of their disks. But they work conscientiously, especially the front one with a reinforced hose. The rear brake here is more of an auxiliary one, although you shouldn’t forget about it. On the track the bike holds up on par with most cars. The plugs are “stitched” one, two, three times. The motorcycle takes on all the road dirt. After the test drive, even the mirrors were splashed. But not a drop got on me. And the hydraulics are reliably covered - the cunning Chinese protected the inverted fork rods with hard shields. To paraphrase the classic, let's say this: The dragon is a useful animal. It can do a lot and demands little in return - only 3 liters per hundred. And if the owner shells out money for good tires, the bike will reward it a hundredfold.
