Suzuki KingQuad LTA-400F: the choice of beginner extreme sports enthusiasts

Suzuki spoke about the updates that many of their ATV models have undergone, including the KingQuad 750 axi, KingQuad 400asi and 400fsi. The driving characteristics of the three models have been improved by upgrading the engine, exhaust system and electronics. Suzuki also offers a 2015 version of the children's quadsport z90 model.

Suzuki's top ATV

Suzuki's top-end ATV, the KingQuad 750 axi, has received significant engine changes that increase net power. The cylinder head of the 722 cc liquid-cooled engine was modified to accommodate projection-type spark plugs. Now the engine is better. The number of holes in the throttle body has increased. All these changes are aimed at “cleaning” exhaust gases and improving engine-driver feedback.

As in 2014, the Suzuki 750axi ATV is equipped with a continuously variable transmission, automatic front differential and all-wheel drive system. Both front and rear have independent A-arm suspension with shock absorbers with five adjustment modes, the front suspension travel is 170.2 mm, and the rear suspension is 200.7 mm. The braking system has the following design: double disc brakes at the front, sealed multi-disc brakes at the rear.

There is also a power steering version of the 750axi available in red or green. For the camouflage version (true timber xd3 camo) you will have to pay more.

Suzuki KingQuad. A matter of principle

As part of the test drive, dedicated to the 15th anniversary of Suzuki’s presence in Russia, we were able to not only ride all of the brand’s all-wheel drive vehicles, but also try and literally “bite” its ATVs. Thought Suzuki didn't have ATVs? And they exist!

As part of a test drive dedicated to the 15th anniversary of Suzuki’s presence in Russia, we were able to not only ride all of the brand’s all-wheel drive vehicles, but also try and literally “bite” its ATVs a little. Thought Suzuki didn't have ATVs? And they exist!

Not only does Suzuki have ATVs, but this company actually invented them: in the form in which we know them today, all-terrain vehicles appeared precisely through the efforts of Suzuki engineers 30 years ago, in 1983. And before that they were three-wheeled. Today Suzuki produces several utilitarian models of ATVs and one sports one. Of these, only “junk” KingQuad 400, 500 and 750 are sold in Russia. At the event, we were offered to try the 500AXi and 750AXi - devices identical in size, suspension and technical components and differing only in engine size and its characteristics, so further we will talk about the KingQuad 750AXi.

KingQuad has a number of interesting features that set it apart from its peers. For example, it is fundamentally off-road: you can’t install turn signals and mirrors to drive onto public roads, even for some money (only if you farm something yourself). Also, as a matter of principle, the company does not produce two-seater ATVs, considering them unsafe and positioning its equipment primarily as mini-tractors for farming. The second question is that in Russia ATVs are rarely used for their intended purpose, and people tend to buy the two-seater versions in order to go for rides in the company of a passenger. This probably partly explains the unpopularity of Suzuki quads in our country, but in vain. For they have unique strengths and impressive abilities.

First of all, the KingQuad 750AXi is very fast! You press the gas trigger a little, and it explodes and rushes forward. And it’s in vain that the manufacturer modestly keeps silent about the power figures - we dug them up anyway - 50 hp. s., and even without numbers, it feels like everything is very good with this parameter. In addition to the high-torque and playful “single-barrel” there is an independent suspension on all wheels, a locking front differential, an anti-roll bar and the ability to temporarily remove the engine speed limit when reversing or with a locked differential (to, for example, get out of mud). Plus, there is a unique rear brake: multi-disc in an oil bath, built into the gearbox. It is durable, does not require special maintenance, does not overheat, does not clog, since it is closed in a sealed case. All this together gives the Suzuki KingQuad excellent cross-country ability. It is easy and pleasant to drive thanks to the electric power steering and correct design geometry.

It’s a pity, I only had a chance to ride the Suzuki KingQuad 750AXi for a very short time, but even in this short time it managed to arouse my interest and affection. This ATV can not only play the role of a workhorse, but also race in amateur competitions at the level of the toughest competitors. And he is definitely worthy of close attention.
