How to choose the right snowmobile for hunting?
A snowmobile can be used to get to the hunting location with all the necessary equipment. Another option is to use it to pursue the animal, after making sure that this is permitted in the fishing region. In the first case, the requirements for the vehicle are less stringent. When choosing a car with which to hunt, you need to approach the issue more seriously. To the uninitiated, they all seem the same. But in fact, the models differ in purpose and technical features, and you need to know which snowmobile is best suited for hunting so as not to make a mistake with your purchase.
Snowmobile brands
For many, when choosing expensive equipment, brand and price play a big role. Before planning a purchase, you should decide how much you are willing to spend. Warranty conditions and the presence of service centers in your region also play a role.
For those whose living and working conditions require the use of a snowmobile most of the year, the main criterion is the ability to take a large amount of cargo with them when moving between two points. In this case, simple design, durability, reliability and low price are important. In addition, in the event of a breakdown on the road, having a set of tools with you, such a snowmobile can be easily repaired. Therefore, residents of the northern regions more often choose snowmobiles from Russian manufacturers, the leader among which is Russian Mechanics.
Those who like to have fun choose foreign-made snowmobiles with increased comfort and good driving characteristics. The best of them are:
- Japanese brand Yamaha;
- American company Arctic Cat;
- Finnish manufacturer Lynx;
- Canadian brand Ski-Doo.
Types of snowmobiles
Depending on their purpose, there are five types of snowmobiles:
Tourist snowmobiles
Such machines are often the choice of beginners. Most touring models are two-seater and provide a high level of comfort for both driver and passenger. Their other advantages are stability when moving, ease of control and reliability. The main disadvantages are low maneuverability and heavy weight. A touring snowmobile is the best choice for long trips, as well as for family outdoor recreation.
Utilitarian snowmobile
Such snowmobiles are intended for use for applied purposes. These are reliable and powerful machines, they are equipped with wide tracks that hold them on any snow. They provide a large number of luggage compartments. Utilitarian snowmobiles can tow sleds with a load weighing up to one and a half tons. They cannot be called fast - the maximum speed of such cars does not exceed 120 km/h.
The main disadvantages of such snowmobiles are their impressive dimensions, which make it difficult to move through the forest, and their heavy weight. Despite this, it is the utilitarian machine that represents the best snowmobile for hunting. In most cases, it is worth choosing one of these models for fishing.
Mountain snowmobiles
As the name suggests, these vehicles are designed to travel over hilly terrain. They are equipped with long tracks with powerful hooks that allow them to easily climb mountains.
Sports snowmobiles
Sports snowmobiles are lightweight, powerful and maneuverable machines. They handle very well and can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h. The energy-intensive adjustable suspension that comes with these models allows you to overcome uneven terrain at high speeds.
Sports snowmobiles are suitable for traveling on compacted snow, the surface of rivers and lakes, and smooth snow-covered trails. The short tracks with which they are equipped do not allow driving through winter fields and forests - these vehicles fall into the snow. Another disadvantage is that they do not forgive beginners' mistakes. It’s quite easy to roll over in such a powerful, fast and maneuverable car.
Crossovers
Crossovers are hybrid snowmobiles that combine the qualities of mountain and sports machines. They confidently traverse rough and hilly terrain and at the same time can reach high speeds and are highly maneuverable.
The best utilitarian snowmobiles
The most “conservative” category of snowmobiles is the so-called utilitarian models, which are subject to fairly typical requirements: reliability, maintainability, ease of maintenance, affordable cost.
Such snowmobiles are preferred by users who need confidence that the machine will not break down due to heavy loads, will start in 30-degree frost and will calmly tow a heavy load.

Snowmobile characteristics
To understand which model to choose for hunting, you first need to pay attention to the basic technical parameters of the snowmobile.
- engine capacity. It can range from 170 to 1000 cm3. The higher this characteristic, the more powerful the snowmobile and the greater the fuel consumption. In most cases, models with engines of about 500 cm 3, which represent a kind of golden mean, are optimal for hunting;
- number of cycles. Snowmobiles with two-stroke engines use more fuel, but they rev faster and weigh less. Heavier four-stroke models are much more difficult to get out of the snow alone;
- type of suspension. The lever suspension provides better handling, while the telescopic suspension is highly reliable and is much less likely to fail.
To determine the performance of a snowmobile, you need to pay attention to the length of the track. The larger it is, the greater the weight, better cross-country ability and worse controllability.
Snowmobiles with short tracks, on the contrary, are distinguished by good maneuverability and relatively low cross-country ability. A caterpillar with a width of at least 50 centimeters allows you to move confidently on loose snow.
It is also necessary to take into account other design features of the vehicle:
- the ability to install narrower or wider skis and tracks, thanks to which the snowmobile becomes more versatile - by purchasing an additional body kit, you can use such a machine in a variety of conditions;
- front bumper design: snowmobiles with an integrated bumper have a small turning radius, making them easier to navigate in rough terrain and in the forest;
- windshield design - a high profile provides better protection from the wind, and a low profile allows you to reach maximum speed;
- the design of the seat, its comfort, the presence or possibility of installing a seat for a second passenger, the possibility of installing a trunk;
- heated seats and steering wheel - if they are present, long hunts at low temperatures will be much more comfortable;
- number and size of luggage compartments - a suitable model must have a sufficient number of cases to accommodate weapons, equipment and equipment;
- design of side steps - the presence of ventilation of their ribbed surface prevents them from icing;
- the presence of safety elements - shields and arches;
- the presence of a towbar - this element allows you to attach a sled to a snowmobile.

Rating of TOP 7 snowmobiles 2022 - 2022: pros and cons, price, characteristics, reviews
Family vacations are divided into two types: a summer flight to the sea, tanning and swimsuits, and going on a snowy trip in the company of loved ones on snowmobiles. But the purpose of a snowmobile is not only for recreation. On it you can go hunting and fishing. Today we want to talk to you specifically about these recreational items, so we are ready to present in this article the rating of the TOP 7 snowmobiles 2022 - 2022: we will consider the pros and cons, price, characteristics, reviews and descriptions of each of the proposed models below.
Which is better: a new budget snowmobile or a used one from a more well-known brand?
Used snowmobiles from world-famous brands (Ski-Doo or Lynx, for example) can cost give or take the same as new equipment from brands with less popularity. And some believe that it is better to take a vehicle of a more well-known brand, even if it is secondhand. This has its advantages:
- such a snowmobile can then be more easily resold (despite the fact that you will no longer be its first owner);
- The quality and reliability of the assembly of such equipment is at the highest level, which means that the snowmobile will serve you for many more seasons.
And now about the cons.
Service price
. The most voluminous disadvantage, which consists of several factors:
- capriciousness towards fuel - top-end equipment also requires top-end fuel: it’s not a fact that an expensive snowmobile (especially a used one, which has already ridden for several seasons) will last a long time on the AI-92;
- fuel consumption - many models of premium brands have more powerful engines than budget snowmobiles, which means you will spend 10-30-50% more on gasoline;
- availability of parts - the price for them will naturally be higher, and it may be more difficult to find spare parts (especially if this is a 5+ year old model);
- the price of service (tuning and repair) is also higher.
It turns out that even if you buy a used premium brand snowmobile cheaper than a new budget equipment, in the first season you can spend the saved difference on its maintenance. And with each season, spending will increase.
Unknown state
. Even if you yourself are an experienced snowmobiler and understand the technology, or pay an appraiser for help, it is not a fact that all defects can be identified.
Expired Warranty
. The normal warranty period for a snowmobile is 3 years. But at this “age”, equipment is rarely sold: usually it is put up later. This means that the next owners will not have a warranty.
Limited offer
. If you want to buy a new snowmobile, you simply order the right model with the right configuration from the dealer. But if you want to buy used equipment, you will have to choose from what is available. And it’s not a fact that the model you like will be on sale, and even in the required configuration, and even at a good price and in good condition.
Rating of the best snowmobiles
From the huge list of snowmobiles that the market offers us, we have selected truly top models that differ from their analogues in proven quality and assembly. Below we will consider the following types of models:

Price tag: from 792,000 to 794,000 rubles.
pros
- high-quality assembly (rare cases of breakdown);
- there is a heated handle function;
- equipped with long-travel suspension.
Minuses

In comparison with our domestic snowmobiles, this is generally the limit of perfection. I have never seen such quality before. Any snow and ice with tubercles is not scary. This is the first time I've been so satisfied with a purchase.
Arctic Cat Bearcat 2000 XT

What to look for when choosing
When choosing a quality snowmobile for yourself and your family, you need to know a few simple rules. Then your trip will be memorable and, most importantly, safe.
So, if you are a beginner snowmobiler, we highly recommend that you not purchase a sports model of a snowmobile. Firstly, to purchase it, you need the help of a qualified specialist. Secondly, a sports device is much more difficult to control, and not every professional can handle it.
At the time of purchase, look at the site for all spare parts and components of the model . And in this case, the help of an experienced and knowledgeable person will not hurt. Check the assembly and, most importantly, the brakes and their quality.
Pay attention to the quality of the seat fasteners. In an inexpensive and low-quality model, after a short amount of time the fasteners begin to crumble and rot. In some models it is sold already with rust. Don't forget about this point.
Look at the ski distance and track width . Skis located at a decent distance from each other are considered safer and provide the stability of a snowmobile. And the small parameters of the caterpillar cling perfectly to the snow and provide high-quality movement.
And, of course, the pendant . The quality of this component is responsible for good movement on thin and wet snow. Also, a strong suspension is not afraid of stones and even cobblestones.
MEGA TEST of all mountain snowmobiles 2022!
Snowmobiles are getting longer every year.
We'll soon need a C license to drive them. Judge for yourself: the new mountain snowmobiles are almost 4 meters long! You won't realize how much that is until you look behind you after landing on your new 2022 Ski-Doo Summit 175. (3.6 meters long) and will not see the place where you landed on the snow. Advantages of extra long tracks
The powerful long tracks (4 to 4.3 meters) can go almost anywhere without the difficulties experienced by 3.8 meter long tracks. The difference is that extra-long tracks perform well in deep, powdery snow, and snowmobiles equipped with them need less power to climb steep, overgrown slopes than snowmobiles with regular tracks. If you're looking for a snowmobile that can handle deep powder and slowly but surely propel you up steep hills through trees and snowdrifts, you should consider purchasing a long track snowmobile. You begin to notice the length of the snowmobile after 3.9 meters. The longer it is, the more difficult it is in turns, because you have additional mass. Many people also say that longer tracks cause the snowmobile to lose power. We did not notice any losses either on flat sections or on forest routes. The only place where this was noticeable was on long, steep climbs: the combination of snow, gravitational and inertial masses led to the fact that the revolutions dropped slightly. True, by that time we were already trying to understand why we decided to climb here after all.
Ski-Doo 850 175 Summit X with 3-inch lug
Last season we tested 165 850 fourth-generation Summit Xs. Compared to the other 4-meter sleds we tested that year, the Summit felt more like a standard sled with a 3.7-meter track. It's the same with the new 2022 175 Summit. Yes, it is much longer, but when you ride it feels like you are riding its little brother, the 165 model. To be honest, it seems even smaller than its predecessor, measuring 4.41 meters long. You could only notice that you were driving a long snowmobile when climbing a steep slope. One could feel that the nose of the snowmobile was still in the air, and the tail was still somewhere far behind on the ground. This sled simply refuses to sink in deep snow. It is important to remember that this 4.45 meter long track is not only the longest of all existing ones, but also has the largest contact area. Their width is 40.6 cm, which means that the area is 1.8 m2. Polaris with a 38x442 cm track has a contact area of 1.68 m2, which is less than almost the entire Category A calendar for 2022. However, since 4.45 meters is the total length of the track, only half is in contact with the snow at any time, so the difference in actual contact area between a 38 x 442 cm track and a 40.6 x 442 cm track is about 18 cm. hearing this doesn't seem like such a big number, but in the snow it's really noticeable. The 850cc engine has enough horsepower to climb any hill. Don't be surprised when you climb a steep, long slope in deep snow on your first try! How many times last year did we not even hope that this snowmobile would get out of a skid or a deep ravine, or climb a steep slope, but each time we were surprised, thinking to ourselves: “Does this snowmobile still have enough power?” Long tracks tend to skid a lot when turning, but when you're driving a mountain snowmobile, this may only be important when approaching a slope. After that, no one cares how much you skid in a turn. Plus, Ski-Doo sleds turn so easily that even on the trail it doesn't matter. You just have to try the new SHOT launch system for yourself! It is impossible to appreciate all its advantages until you start using it all day. This is truly a great system, worthy of our title of "Best Innovation" of 2022!
Polaris Axys Pro RMK 800 174 with three-inch lug
The new Polaris Pro RMK 800 174 climbs mountains well, even though it has a smaller snow footprint than its rivals. Thanks to the stiffer track, steep sideways climbs feel much easier than on other sleds. The narrow body means you won't get stuck anywhere. The Axys frame and long track mean the sled can handle any conditions. The sled jumps through snowdrifts at great speed and straightens out with ease, so you don't have to fight the skid that sometimes occurs when the sled ends up on its tail while jumping. We had no problems passing between dense trees and potholes at RMK 174. At the same time, boondocking on this sled is very easy. Standard mountain sleds are 91.4 cm wide, these are almost a meter, but thanks to the raised frame, the Axys behaves as if it still has a 90 cm wide nose. The only thing: we strongly recommend disconnecting the stabilizer. It will take you a couple of minutes to get used to the behavior of the snowmobile, but one ride in the mountains will show how much more maneuverable it has become. Let's face it, Polaris has done a great job improving this model. The variator works very smoothly and responds to the slightest action. The 800cc motor easily turns a long caterpillar and releases a whole herd of horses into the drive shaft. We had no problems with the belt or overheating. Oil consumption was on par with the 2016 and 2022 models, which isn't too bad, especially considering our driving style. I'm looking forward to seeing what Polaris comes up with in 2022, as the Axys frame hasn't been improved in two years and their latest models aren't all that different from each other. In addition, the engine has not been redesigned for several years. So it seems to me that we will soon see new developments from Polaris, in response to the 850 cc engine from Ski-Doo.
Arctic Cat Mountain Cat 8000 162 with three-inch lug
The longest snowmobile in the Arctic Cat lineup is 4.11 meters. Mountain Cat 2022 Very responsive at low and medium speeds. For those who like to ride in the mountains, this is precisely the most important range, because it is at low and medium speeds that most of the trip takes place. The high responsiveness of the variator means that the snowmobile will not fail when it is most needed: in deep snow between trees and when climbing sideways. This sled is noticeably lighter and nimble, and readily responds to your commands. The seat is pushed forward, and the snowmobile itself is 10% narrower, which means you won't get stuck on a steep climb. The new C-TEC2 800cc two-stroke engine, developed in St. Cloud, is even more reliable, efficient and responsive than its predecessor from Suzuki. The C-TEC2 consumes less oil thanks to optimized oil injection and an electronic oil pump. The DSI (Dual Injection System) injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber at low speeds and into the crankcase at higher speeds. In this case, fuel is consumed in measured quantities: only the required dose for maximum power. This results in a powerful and literally well-oiled machine. These sleds have improved a lot, even compared to MY17. We had both the MY17 and MY18 in our garage and the difference between the two sleds was truly noticeable. We loved the old MY17, so the new model was great! The combination of the new motor, redesigned hull and seat position creates a completely new riding experience and gives this sled speed and precision. The Fox QSL shock (standard on Mountain Cat) has three settings on the rear suspension: soft, medium and a new lockout feature that keeps the sled planted on the ground during long, tough climbs. The nose stays as firmly on the ground as possible when the shock absorber is locked, but be sure to unlock it once you've climbed a hill—otherwise, you'll feel every bump and bump on the trail with your entire body. In the worst case scenario, if you do not unlock the shock absorber and land hard, the lock will be released on its own and save the suspension from damage. These sleds are a surprise for 2022, and all the hype around them is completely justified. Over time, as more people ride these sleds, everyone will realize that this is a truly great sled. Cat fans, if you've been waiting for a great new sled, here it is!
IMPRESSIONS AFTER TESTING SNOWMOBILES 2018
Kevin Thompson
174 POLARIS PRO RMK
- It will go anywhere and climb anywhere. An excellent sled that is a pleasure to drive. Stands on its side with incredible ease and feels like the tallest snowmobile when you're behind the wheel. The rigid track does not get stuck in the snow as often and provides excellent traction. The snowmobile is easy to maneuver even in deep, loose snow and is very comfortable to sit on.
175 SKI-DOO
— These are quite simple sleds, but I liked them. They were as comfortable to sit in as my '96 Cadillac. The descent along the track was very smooth. The snowmobile even turned perfectly, without those jolts that are characteristic of long sleds. In deep, loose snow the sled performed excellently: it glides over the surface and the throttle response is excellent. It still seemed to me that I was on a short snowmobile: the Ski-Doo was controlled like a 4.2-meter-long sled. The open running boards never failed or became covered in snow. This snowmobile easily stands on its side and climbs sideways without getting bogged down. I was pleasantly surprised at how slow you could go and still keep moving forward in deep snow. The SHOT starting system is a great innovation and works just fine. The three-inch lug does everything it's supposed to do and more. Jay Mentaberry rode it and landed it like it was a short snowmobile. He climbed slopes sideways and conquered completely sheer slopes with incredible ease.
162 MOUNTAIN CAT
— snowmobile Sleds have become noticeably better compared to last year. Smooth and powerful S-TES2 motor, smooth ride with Fox shock absorbers. They are very easy to adjust and always work as they should. Thanks to this, it is much easier to climb slopes sideways and stay straight. I felt a difference in weight compared to last year's model. The Ascender frame seemed narrower to me, but my foot kept getting stuck in the footrest.
162 YAMAHA SIDEWINDER
- A real discovery! I've never been a fan of four-stroke engines, but this sled had me grinning from ear to ear every time I stepped on the gas and felt the powerful, smooth pull. This sled is a lot of fun to ride, but at the end of the day you will feel how far you have traveled. The 998cc turbocharged engine allows you to go anywhere. Climbing slopes is easy for the snowmobile. If you're not a fan of four-strokes, I'd highly recommend trying this one out to at least get an idea of the other side. The sled lacks storage space, but the turbocharged engine roars so loudly that it doesn't matter.
Yamaha Sidewinder Turbo M-TX 162 with three-inch lug
Yes, there is a four-stroke engine and yes, this makes the snowmobile heavier. But even after riding two-stroke engines for 40 years, I easily switched to this snowmobile. To tell the truth, it often happened that the Sidewinder climbed slopes that we could not climb in any other way. Three throttle valves provide immediate response from the turbine. Despite critics who claim that you can’t ride it through the forest and stand on one ski, I confidently declare that this is not the case. Thanks to its narrow 91.4 cm nose and large megatons of power, you can go anywhere on gas. We noticed that so much power is transferred to the track that a lifting force is created, and in those places where you think you are stuck, the snowmobile will easily pull you out if you just apply the gas. But this super-powerful all-terrain vehicle is also very convenient to drive. You really feel very confident, many even think that he has a meter-long nose, it stays so firmly on the snow. The dynamics of this sled are amazing. I can harp on about this until I'm blue in the face, but what's the point? I just wish that all the opponents of four-stroke engines would ride one at least once to understand what they were criticizing and denying. The Sidewinder performs great in deep, loose snow and always seems to be asking for more! In short, this car is fun and exciting to drive. Last year it was our Editors' Choice, just behind the Ski-Doo 850, which isn't too bad considering how good all the sleds were. From the looks of it, 2022 is shaping up to be the year you have to buy the snowmobile you've been waiting for the most. All manufacturers have great lineups this year, and each of these sleds will take you where you want to go. Just remember to charge your GoPro batteries to capture the most exciting moments!

Modern vehicles for driving on snow
When people talk about vacation, the stereotypical association immediately paints in the minds of most people a picture of hot sun, a sun lounger, a cocktail with a slice of lime and a warm sea. If you add the word “active” to this vacation, your imagination will add ATV races and bicycles. As a last resort - mountaineering and tourism, but everything is associated with warm weather.
What about northerners who don’t want/don’t have the opportunity to go to the sea? Imagine a huge expanse of snow in which skis will fall through, and in order to skate you need to clear a snow cap one and a half meters high.
For such cases, special machines have been developed: snowmobiles and motorized dogs. These powerful devices are capable of driving a person or a group of people through the snow at incredible speed. They serve both for practical purposes (carriage of goods, off-road transportation in winter) and for sports and entertainment purposes (snowmobile racing, traveling on motorized dogs, simply exciting walks through snowy forests and trails).
Which brand of snowmobile to choose?
List of the best manufacturers of the products in question:
1. Arctic Cat is a leading American company producing currently popular ATVs and snowmobiles. At first, starting in 1951, it was engaged in the production of steam cleaners and poisonous substances for insects.
2. Ski-Doo is a popular brand of excellent snowmobiles from the Canadian corporation Bombardier. BRP was founded in 1942, in which it immediately began producing tracked vehicles.
3. Polaris is an international holding company that produces a variety of high-quality household appliances and equipment. The brand of the same name also produces snowmobiles that are in demand in northern latitudes.
4. Lynx - narrow tracked vehicles produced in Finland from the aforementioned Bombardier.
5. Yamaha is a world-famous Japanese company created in 1955. It manufactures and exports large quantities of high-quality motorcycles, golf carts, snowmobiles and other equipment based on engines of its own production.

How to choose an ATV
What are snowmobiles?
Snowmobiles (the second name is “snow machines”) look like modernized steerable sleds. They are equipped with a powerful motor and the main engine: wide studded tracks located at the bottom of the device. Thanks to the wide surface area, snowmobiles do not fall through even with a heavy passenger, and the engine power provides the machines with high speed and the ability to move even on steep mountain slopes.
By functionality, snowmobiles are divided into:
- utilitarian (transport, workers). Designed for transporting passengers and transporting goods. Typically equipped with a wider track and luggage rack;
- tourist. They have great power and speed, high maneuverability. Can be equipped with two seats. Designed for long journeys;
- sports. They have minimal weight and excellent maneuverability. Designed for competitions and performing beautiful tricks;
- mountain They are as lightweight as possible, but have high power and a narrower track.
Mini snowmobiles
The most economical and convenient device for fishing and hunting. When disassembled, the mini-transport will fit into any car. The low price will keep your wallet intact. It is a means of moving from one point to another.

From 63,900 ₽
A good helper for hunters. Provides fast movement in the absence of roads and shallow snow. Possibility of transporting sleds up to 100 kg. Assembles without tools in 3 minutes.
What are motorized dogs?
These machines got their name because of their design, similar to the dog sleds of the peoples of the Far North. The device consists of a directly pulling machine - a motorized towing vehicle - and a sled with people attached to it. Unlike snowmobiles, the passenger here is not on the ride-on vehicle, but in a trailer. The motorized towing vehicle is designed like a motor sleigh: the same moving studded or bladed caterpillar, equipped with a powerful motor. These are very powerful devices capable of transporting sawn logs and other heavy loads at high speeds and over long distances. Many models walk not only on snow, but also on any other surface: soil, swamps, reeds, forests.
For recreation, they are used as a fast and convenient vehicle in the snow.
Are you ready to put on a warm sports jacket, put on a mask and goggles and take a multi-kilometer walk through the snow sparkling in the sun? Then the rating of the best snowmobiles and motorized dogs for outdoor activities 2022 will help you choose the right car!
What do you pay attention to when buying a snowmobile?
The design of such equipment is quite simple: the design includes two skis, one caterpillar and a motor unit, which is used to move forward. Driving a snowmobile is very simple, since the engine does not have a gearbox - even an inexperienced driver can handle it. To move, you only need to use the gas pedal. However, it must be taken into account that in most cases snowmobiles are equipped with fairly powerful engines.
You should not start too quickly on this vehicle, as it can simply jump out of the saddle. Many models are equipped with special devices that are almost no different from a check – it is attached to the driver’s wrist. If it flies out of the saddle, the engine will stop completely.
All snowmobiles can be divided into two main groups - sports and touring. The first type is used by fans of extreme sports. Such models are characterized by a shortened track, a high-power engine, low weight and a rigid suspension. There is only one seat on such snowmobiles; there is no luggage rack. The maximum speed that such a vehicle can reach is about 200 km/h, and due to the rigid suspension, even at such high speeds you can perform breathtaking stunts.
Tourist structures are equipped with a wide moving caterpillar - due to the installation of such a part, you can easily move through soft and loose snow of considerable depth. The driving conditions here are more comfortable - the seat is longer, it can accommodate two or three people, there is a windshield and a spacious trunk, which will be quite enough to put all the things needed on the trip. The engines here are also very powerful, but a large number of different additional elements are provided - heated steering wheel and seat, adjustable backrest tilt level, its height, and so on.
There are also utilitarian structures that can be used both as tourism and as sports. When compiling our ranking of the best snowmobiles of the year, we took into account all these points and also studied many user reviews, which allowed us to include only the most popular designs in our review. They are distinguished by excellent price-quality ratio, long service life and so on. Now is the time to consider the main performance characteristics of the models included in our rating.
Leading snowmobile manufacturers
A snowmobile is a fairly simple technical device, but its reliability and quality largely depend on who its creator is.
Now there are not many companies on the market producing such equipment, and among them it is easy to identify certain leaders whose snowmobiles will definitely not let you down.
- Yamaha is a very famous old company from Japan that appeared on the market at the end of the 19th century. Now it is the largest manufacturer of musical instruments, but also creates sports equipment and motorcycle equipment. Its products are reliable, durable and work like a clock with proper care.
- Ski-Doo is a brand owned by Bombardier Recreational Products that produces snowmobiles. In Canada, its products are considered perhaps the most popular. On the market - since the late 50s of the twentieth century. In addition to the equipment itself, it also produces suits for snowmobiling. By the way, the name of the brand appeared by chance: at first it was supposed to be called Ski-Dog, but a typo accidentally appeared in the brochure at that time, and the brand became known as Ski-Doo.
- Arctic Cat is a very famous brand from the USA that specializes in the production of all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles. On the market since the 60s of the last century. In addition to snowmobiles, it produces spare parts for them and clothing for fans of such vehicles. In 2003, one of his models was in 3rd place in popularity on the world market.
- Polaris is another American company that produces not only snowmobiles, but also motorcycles, electric vehicles and a number of other similar equipment. Had a major impact on the entire snowmobile world. The history of Polaris began in the 45th year of the twentieth century. Then the company tried to come up with ways to quickly get anywhere in the snow and created the first prototype of a snowmobile.
- Taiga is a Russian brand of Russian Mechanics OJSC, whose products you can trust. It has been producing snowmobiles since 1997. The assortment includes several models that have modifications. For example, the most popular model is Taiga Leader. There is also a children's model - Lynx. And the Patrol 551 SWT modification is used by the Russian Ministry of Defense in the Arctic regions.
Yamaha snowmobiles
Snowmobile Yamaha Bravo 250 T
The Yamaha runs on a very powerful engine and is therefore ideal for heavy work . This is a utilitarian model with a simple but reliable design. This technique will work even in the most difficult places, even with a trailer. The low mass and wide tracks work for this.
Externally, the snowmobile looks somewhat angular; the design has not changed since 1992. This is what makes the car recognizable. In addition, the unchanged design has repeatedly demonstrated high quality and efficiency. In fact, a very simple design is presented here: the strongest steel frame, two-stroke unit, manual starter, suspension on semi-elliptical springs.
The dashboard of the Yamaha Bravo 250 T is equipped with an odometer and a speedometer. The car has no reverse gear. But, thanks to its low weight, you can grab the trunk guard or tubular “rail” and move the snowmobile manually. There is a brake lever on the handlebar, it is used as a parking brake and is secured with a latch. The price of the Japanese is from 300 tr.
Pros:
- the suspension copes well with road unevenness;
- you can drive between trees and snow mounds;
- does not fall through when driving in the snow;
- reliable motor, the snowmobile simply jumps up the hill;
- comfort;
- wind protection;
Minuses:
- due to the light weight, the car feels less confident when cornering and may fall over;
- no reverse.

, a two-cylinder, two-pin power unit works . At the same time, the Yamaha Viking 540 is economical and does not lose power parameters. With wide skis and adjustable rear suspension, you can count on high flotation and the ability to customize the snowmobile to any conditions. In addition, the machine is lightweight. Price – from 400 tr.
Pros:
- the Japanese has a very reliable engine;
- the snowmobile drags even large loads;
- soft ride due to improved rear suspension;
- spacious trunk;
- powerful;
- the engine starts easily even in negative weather;
- comfortable.
Minuses:
- small fuel tank (only 31 l).
