Cobra Crossfire 125 is a lightweight small-cc road motorcycle made in China and Izhevsk. This low budget 125cc classic motorcycle see created for driving on ordinary roads. Its appearance and driving characteristics are reminiscent of the famous brothers of the “land of the rising sun”.
The Cobra Crossfire 125cc is powered by a 125cc single cylinder 4-stroke CXM125B engine. For ease of operation and reducing the load on the engine, a 5-speed gearbox is installed. Front disc and rear drum brakes provide smooth and safe braking.
Like most modern motorcycles, the bike comes from the factory with alloy wheels and good tires. The main component of the motorcycle's power system is the carburetor, which greatly simplifies various repairs of problems related to the fuel supply. The relatively small weight of only 100 kg makes it easy to maneuver the bike within the city.
If you compare this motorcycle with competitors in its class (for example, ABM Phantom 125), you can immediately notice several advantages:
- The dynamics of acceleration and maximum speed due to the 5-speed gearbox are impressive.
- Improved optics and the presence of a fairing in the front part.
- High capacity battery.
- Less fuel consumption. For the ABM Phantom 125, for example, the figure exceeds 3 liters per hundred.
- The overall design and coloring, as well as the “raised” exhaust system, resembles more a motorcycle with a sporty character than an ordinary “road car”.
- The cost of replacing spare parts (spare parts for the Cobra Crossfire are slightly cheaper than for similar bikes in this class).

This motorcycle is perfect for people who value, above all, comfort and a quiet ride. If you decide to conquer forest roads or impassable areas on this motorcycle, then you will be disappointed, since the bike’s ground clearance is only 125 mm. This value is sufficient for driving through small sections of rough terrain, but you shouldn’t count on anything more.
The motorcycle is great for riding around the city or on country roads. The maximum rated speed of 90 km/h is slightly underestimated, but in reality, the device can be accelerated to 110 km/h. The operation of the front telescopic and rear pendulum suspension deserves separate consideration. When driving over small potholes and uneven roads, the motorcycle seems to “float”, the suspension adequately handles all the bumps and potholes. The double rear shock absorber plays an important role in this. Controlling the motorcycle is easy and does not require much effort.
The ability to choose two color options (black-red and blue-white), as well as the presence of an electric starter, alarm, and side mirrors, makes this classic motorcycle stand out among similar Chinese-made devices.
The disadvantages include slight vibration at certain speeds (4000-6000 rpm), but most models of Chinese low-budget motorcycles have this drawback.
Model history
Chinese manufacturers have set themselves the goal of creating the cheapest possible analogue of the Yamaha YBR 125 and Yamaha Serow 250 cc. In general, they coped with their task, since the Cobra crossfire repeats its prototype in terms of technical parameters. By using inexpensive plastic and simplifying the design, the price was reduced by almost 4 times.
The model is very popular in Asian countries. The motorcycle is still one of the top five most sold not only in China, but also in India, Taiwan, and Korea. In Russia and Ukraine, Cobra is also considered popular. True, unlike Asian countries, it is not used for daily purposes (commuting to work, cargo transportation, etc.), but for learning to drive or entertaining teenagers who cannot yet afford more powerful equipment.
At the beginning of summer, I decided to go on my first long-distance trip; before that I had driven a maximum of 360 km per lap and the trip had never taken more than one day. I chose Crimea as the final destination of the trip; the entire trip was planned for 15 days and the route was laid through Kazakhstan. A friend agreed to accompany me to the city of Sibay (Republic of Bashkortostan. The departure was scheduled for May 21. The goal of the first day was to visit the Sibay quarry, take photos there and head further alone towards Orenburg. On the first day it was planned to travel 800 km. The first day of the journey or hello reality How and it was planned on the morning of the 21st, we left Chelyabinsk towards Sibay, for the first two hours we drove without stopping and everything went well. 250 kilometers from home, I noticed that something was resting on my leg, I decided to look down as I went and noticed that I had the axle that connects the rear pendulum to the frame has almost completely flown out (there was no more than 1-2 cm of the axle in the pendulum; the rest of its length was outside). This small breakdown began to bring me back to reality and hinted that the bike might not reach the destination. Crimea, on the side of the road I found a stone and hammered the axle back into the pendulum and decided to stop at a car service center in the nearest town on the route so that they could screw me on the nut that held the pendulum axle (the nut itself was lost). The nearest city was Magnitogorsk, there were still 60 km left; I rode all this distance, pressing the pendulum axis with my foot so that it would not fly out while moving. After the problem was fixed for me in Magnitogorsk, we moved on and soon reached Sibai. In Sibay we found a quarry, sat there, took photos, had a snack and drove on. I needed to get to Orenburg (and that was another 400 km), and my friend decided to find a place to spend the night somewhere here, and the next day to go home. The locals advised us to spend the night in Baymak, not far from Sibay (about 30 km) and just on the way to Orenburg, and we moved on together. In Baymak we stopped at a gas station, refueled and then each went in his own direction. China is China, some 20 minutes after I continued on my way alone, I noticed that the motorcycle began to make some strange sound and stopped and saw that the nuts that secure the knee to the cylinder head had unscrewed and flew off. It was already starting to get dark and the sky was overcast, and in the direction where I needed to go it was clearly raining (judging by the sky), in general my mood dropped to zero. I called a friend with whom I had recently separated and began to wait for him, during which time I found the necessary nuts and re-tightened the knee, but I did not have a gasket and the sound of the motorcycle was very unpleasant. When he arrived, it was already completely dark, and we went to look for a place to stay for the night. After the whole day in the saddle, I was so tired that I fell asleep right on the move and managed to open my eyes in time when I noticed that the motorcycle was driving off to the side of the road, and soon we came across a children's holiday camp. The children had not yet settled into the camp and the workers let us spend the night. I was so tired that day that I no longer had the strength to eat dinner, wash my face, or do anything else. I barely took off my ankle boots and jacket and fell on the bed and immediately fell asleep. During the first day we managed to cover more than 600 km of route.
Day two We woke up around 8 am, washed ourselves and went to look for a place to make a fire and have breakfast. Immediately after leaving the camp we saw a very steep hill and stopped there.
There was still snow at the top of the hill, in the shadow of the rock. From the hill there was a very good view of the surrounding area and the places where we had recently wandered at night in search of accommodation for the night. The day was sunny and warm, after drinking a couple of glasses of hot coffee and having a good breakfast, my strength began to return and the desire to quit everything began to gradually recede. It was decided to return to Sibay again in order to find a tap gasket for the motorcycle and fix the problem. When leaving Baymak, we came across a village with very beautiful nature and a stream with clean and cool water, here we sat a little longer, replenished our water supplies and moved on. In Sibay, after a short ride around the city in search of a motorcycle store, we met a local motorcyclist who took us to the store. There we managed to buy a set of gaskets and, having left the city in the nearest forest, we set up camp to have lunch and put the gasket in place. The motorcycle was repaired and it was necessary to decide where to go next. A friend suggested visiting a village proudly called “Paris”; besides, he had friends not far from this village who offered to spend the night. By the end of the second day we managed to reach his friends. We had a good dinner with them and went to the bathhouse.
Day three On the morning of the third day we woke up full of energy and went to Paris to take pictures with their Eiffel Tower. The local Eiffel Tower is a tower of the cellular operator Rostelecom, which the operator specially made in the shape of the Eiffel Tower. This is the only attraction of Paris. Having visited it, we immediately moved to the regional center of the Nagaybak district in order to have lunch and think about our further route. A friend went home to Chelyabinsk, and I decided to go to Ufa straight through the Ural mountains; I really wanted to see what it was like in the mountains))
To be continued in the second part Part 2
Advantages
- Ideal for beginners who are just learning to ride motorcycles
- Well suited for driving on smooth asphalt roads.
- Features fast acceleration.
- It has low fuel consumption, the tank holds 10 liters (although the passport says 8.5 liters).
Another plus is how much the Cobra motorcycle costs (it can be bought for 42,000-55,000 rubles - the price depends on the modification). Repairing the engine, transmission, wiring and any other part of the motorcycle is inexpensive (all spare parts are simple and inexpensive).
Flaws
- The ground clearance of the bike is only 125 mm.
- The motorcycle is not suitable for off-road riding.
- Thin stock tires slip when cornering.
- Not very reliable Chinese plastic, cracks easily and does not withstand collisions.
- Electrical equipment quickly breaks down (Cobra owners often complain that they often have to change the voltage regulator).
- The Cobra is very lightweight, so the pilot will feel side gusts of wind.
- It is difficult to find original spare parts (it helps that parts from many other motorcycles are suitable for the Cobra).
- Vibration is felt at 4000-6000 rpm (especially when releasing the gas).
Design
The motorcycle has a fairly simple appearance. Many call its design outdated, but let's be honest - for such a price the appearance is very decent, analogues in its price category look much more primitive (compare, for example, Cobra with Ural or Voskhod 2M - the first definitely looks more solid and sporty).
The steering wheel is comfortable and provides a low seating position for the pilot. The seat is quite rigid, the driver does not fall through it. The instrument panel is wide, all meters are clearly visible even when driving at speed. It is possible to connect any other “gadgets” to the electrical network at your discretion.
The coloring of the motorcycle is dynamic and masculine. There are several options to choose from - aggressive black and red, calmer blue and white, classic white and black or stylish black and blue.
Specifications
Engine
All users note the quick start of the engine. It starts easily even in winter at temperatures down to -15 degrees, which is very important for the climate of our country. The only thing worth taking into account is the vibration of the engine at rpm above 4500 - they are especially noticeable at the moment of releasing the gas. The resulting shaking reduces ride comfort, but in general is not critical and does not interfere with control.
The car consumes fuel moderately. Average consumption when driving on a flat road is 2.5 liters per 100 km, so the Cobra is quite suitable for a relaxing motorcycle trip around Russia or Ukraine.
Brake system
The motorcycle has front disc brakes (dimensions of each disc: 240 x 50 x 4). The standard pads are FALCON SPEEDFIRE (250 cm3). Rear drum brake with 130 x 30 mm pads. The rim has 4 holes and a diameter of 18″.
Front brake lever with hydraulics. The rear brake pedal, unfortunately, is not very comfortable - it is narrow and can bend during intensive use. Fortunately, finding a replacement zip is not difficult and the spare part is inexpensive (within 350 rubles).
The frame in this motorcycle is spatial, tubular, duplex type. Made of steel and its chrome-molybdenum alloy. The device is extremely simple - the design is made in such a way as to lighten the weight of the motorcycle as much as possible, but at the same time maintain the ability to absorb small shocks and overloads. Unfortunately, the Cobra's frame has its drawback - the lightweight motorcycle is too sensitive to air currents and can lose stability in lateral gusts.
Suspension
If we compare the Cobra Crossfire with other budget Chinese mopeds, then this model has one of the most reliable suspensions. There is a telescopic design at the front and a pendulum design with two shock absorbers at the rear. It is soft and quite durable. Of course, the motorcycle will not withstand rough off-road conditions. But it goes through the primer calmly and overcomes small potholes smoothly.

Modifications
Cobra crossfire is available in several versions, the difference between which is not very big. The most common modifications of this “Chinese” are:
- Cobra Crossfire 125 cc is the most common variation of the moped of this brand. Develops power up to 12 hp. The engine displacement, as the name suggests, is 125 cubic meters.
- The Cobra Crossfire 150 is a slightly stronger motorcycle. The volume of the power unit is increased by 25 cubic meters, power – 14 hp. There are no other differences with Crossfire 125.
- Сobra Crossfire 200 – produced since 2013. The engine capacity has been increased by another 25 cubic meters. In terms of other characteristics, the performance characteristics are completely identical to the Crossfire 150 and 125.
- Сobra Crossfire Sport – has a 4-stroke engine with a volume of 125 cm3. The difference between this motorcycle is the more maneuverable cast wheels (the dimensions of the “donuts” have changed - 2.75-18 and 3.00-18). The Cobra Sport's fuel tank capacity is 1 liter larger. Available only in black and white and white and blue.

Alfamoto Cobra, Classic
The purpose of the visit (this time to Odessa) was interesting and educational - I had to test two motorcycles. Both are representatives of the “125cc” class and are intended primarily for beginners.
Cobra and Classic, sold under the Alfamoto TM, are manufactured in China by Jianshe. As often happens when getting acquainted with new Chinese technology, the first thing that comes to mind is a comparison with an already known analogue from a famous brand. For Alfamoto Cobra and Classic, this analogue is the Yamaha YBR-125. In addition, according to available information, all three motorcycles are produced at the same plant. For those who are not in the know, let me remind you that the YBR-125 is “Chinese” in origin and “Japanese” in design, which is produced at the production facilities of Jianshe Industry Group. Returning to the Cobra and Classic motorcycles, we note that they do not have a single common part with the YBR-125, so we will compare them exclusively with each other. If anyone thinks that all the differences between them lie in the semi-fairing, I hasten to dispel such thoughts. There are a lot of differences!
Upon external examination, it turned out that only the engine is common in motorcycles. All other parts vary either in design or construction. This was the first time I saw something like this on motorcycles from a Chinese brand, and I was pleasantly surprised. But later I was even more surprised. The motorcycles not only looked, but also rode completely differently.
Alfamoto Cobra was the first to ask for a test. After covering several kilometers along the city streets, I had a good impression of him. The motorcycle has a comfortable seating position and controls. The seat is soft and the steering wheel is high enough to create an upright riding position. In bright sunshine, the instrument readings, with the exception of the neutral light, are easily visible. Along the way, I noted that the motorcycle is very easy to control, which is what one would expect from a small-capacity bike. The clutch is released smoothly, and the brakes work quite predictably. When entering turns, even at walking speed, the motorcycle does not fall on its side, and at higher speeds it does not show the slightest desire to break away from the chosen trajectory. When braking sharply, I was unable to get the front brake to completely lock the wheel, and the braking was not entirely sharp. Despite the fact that only a single-piston caliper was installed at the front, there was a feeling that the weak point in the system was not it, but the unused brake pads (the motorcycle had only traveled 2 km at the start of the test). The rear drum brake was initially fine.
To the meeting point with the second “experimental”, the road was smooth asphalt and almost completely free of potholes. And instead of avoiding potholes and keeping an eye on the road, I kept an eye on the motorcycle. Acceleration was not easy for the Cobra. The engine picked up speed without much enthusiasm, but almost always smoothly and confidently. Only high gears and speeds below 40 km/h turned out to be incompatible. In order for the engine to pull normally, it is necessary to keep the speed at least 4 thousand and constantly change gears. But this comes without difficulty. The gearbox works like an automatic... Kalashnikov. Clearly and without misfires. Since there were practically no bumps on the road, I couldn’t immediately express any complaints about the suspension. They appeared later.
Having changed to Alfamoto Classic, I immediately felt something was wrong. The motorcycle behaved somehow differently. Even in the rumbling of the engine, some new notes were heard, which I did not expect. First, I realized that the engine not only sounds different, but also breathes more freely, spins up noticeably faster, and reacts to movements of the throttle almost without delay, which I did not notice on the Cobra. Having changed from one motorcycle to another several times, I confirmed this once again.

How much does a Cobra Crossfire 125 motorcycle cost (new and used)?
Chinese manufacturers are quickly taking over the automobile and motorcycle markets in our country. The price of a new Cobra 125 motorcycle is 45-47 thousand rubles. For that amount you can barely buy a three-year-old “Japanese”. It is quite difficult to compete with such prices, which is why most stores currently selling motorcycles and scooters in Russia are almost completely filled with Chinese equipment.
Used (used) models can be found for 20-30 thousand rubles, it all depends on the condition of the bike.
The motorcycle with the bold name “Cobra Crossfire” is perfect for everyday trips both around the city and on country roads. Any girl can handle it. In its class, this motorcycle represents perhaps the best comparison of characteristics such as price and quality.
Maintenance of the Cobra Crossfire is inexpensive and, in the event of an unexpected breakdown, spare parts can always be found in the shortest possible time. Passport data is slightly underestimated, which is a definite plus.
