Off-road motorcycle KTM 200 EXC 2008
New release of the KTM two-stroke “SUV” with an engine capacity of 200 cc. The new KTM 200 EXC is surprisingly tall and has great torque - ideal for technical riding. An excellent combination of maneuverability and power.
In general, KTM beat out all other manufacturers with its 2008 release, releasing the 200EXC and 300EXC motocross motorcycles a month before the appearance of other models from competitors. The KTM 200 EXC wasn't widely discussed and was overshadowed by the 300 EXC - most of the talk was about the bigger bike.
The 2008 200 EXC features a new frame on the chassis of the 250 SXF. These are pipes of a different profile with double flat beams. Moreover, they are made of chrome-molybdenum steel, i.e. the quality is excellent. The main frame also has a new subframe, and the swing arm and shock absorber are taken from a racing bike. All these changes are said to improve management. This is debatable - the first feeling is that last year’s option was just the most optimal. The new KTM 200 EXC has become very light, and this of course affects the handling, but practice will show in which direction.
It's a fact that the 200 EXC is the simplest bike you can get in this class. The kick starter is well positioned and requires almost no effort to turn it fully. The motorcycle always comes to life “with half a turn”. When you sit on it, it seems small. But this is a deceptive feeling - when the 200 and 300 models are side by side, they cannot be distinguished from each other unless you look at the stickers. This "compact" feeling is probably due to the weight distribution... there are simply no other options available. Although the KTM 200 EXC is narrow, it is very tall - short people will have to reach to the ground.
The suspension of the KTM 200 EXC is made on a WP fork with a length of 48mm. It's not a two-volume MX fork, but it does have a new preload adjuster. The suspension is optimally tuned by the manufacturer - the adjustment levers may not be useful. At the rear there is the same shock absorber as on MX motorcycles, turned backwards to imitate a sports suspension. The front vibration that was present in the previous model has disappeared, the motorcycle handles quickly and accurately...
The brakes on the KTM 200 EXC... they are amazing! You need to hold on tight when you try to brake the KTM 200 EXC because... the speed is extinguished very quickly - this is braking with one finger. Brembo brakes are probably the most efficient in the industry. They used to be so-so, but over the last few years all Brembo brakes have been at least impressive.
The KTM 200 EXC motor surprised me the most. In general, the torque of the baby KTM has been amazing before, but this year it is simply amazing. The torque at low speeds is simply more than a 200 cc motorcycle has the right to develop. It certainly can't completely replace a 450cc motorcycle, but it's nonetheless powerful and it's power that many people can afford. The engine provides a smooth increase in power when the gear is correctly selected. The KTM 200 EXC rolls effortlessly up hills that are supposed to be covered only by frantically shifting gears and revving the engine. Compared to the strong impression at low revs, the midrange is not particularly impressive - it just is there and that's all. The engine works calmly and predictably; such work does not evoke any reproaches or admiration. At high revs the engine is what you'd expect from a small-bore two-stroke, and the lightweight KTM 200 EXC simply shoots forward. You have to be prepared to play with the stick because the six-speed gearbox is excellent, but at 7 km/h you're already looking for seventh gear.
Actually, the KTM 200 EXC is not a motorcycle for open racing, and this becomes clear after riding the 300. If you do open country drag racing, you will buy the 300 EXC all the time. And if you are a completely avid racer, then you will generally think about something more serious. And the 200 EXC is, in fact, a fairly ordinary motorcycle in its class with 5 or 6 gears. After driving it for 5 kilometers, you can’t feel your fingers or toes. And this is not surprising, and that’s not the point.
The bottom line is that the KTM 200 EXC has a small engine with fairly modest power, but due to its light weight and excellent handling, it is really fast in the right conditions. Very few bikes will be able to keep up with it when the trails really get tough. It thrives on the toughest parts of the track, when the big bikes are unable to use their full power. It seems to laugh at its larger brothers, flying from one turn to another as they chug and fight their way through the trees.
Overall the 200EXC is a cool bike. He is fast, but not crazy fast. He is agile, but at the same time understands the slightest movements of the rider. An excellent suspension inspires confidence.

ABM X-moto ZR200: photos, technical specifications, reviews
Sometimes, when looking to buy a motorcycle, a user comes across a strange abbreviation - AVM . It simply stands for Auto Bikes Moto . The company is headquartered in St. Petersburg and has existed since 1996 .
Through its own network of dealers, it sells Chinese motorcycles. Therefore, under the unusual name, Chinese parts, Chinese production, Chinese assembly are hidden. This is the ABM ZR200 enduro bike. Some sources say that at first the user was offered an option with a 250 cc engine, but then, from about 2014, the volume was reduced, since the old option turned out to be fragile.
As is customary with a Chinese manufacturer, the design of the bike was copied from Honda, using the Honda cb 200 .

Flaws
Users noted many disadvantages of the model:
- The main one is the chain . The main problem is that it stretches very quickly. No less important. According to the developers’ incomprehensible idea, it is one and a half times longer than the standard one. To replace, you need to take two, and then, using locks, assemble the required length. According to user measurements, the native one has 137 links .
The problem with the chain can be partially solved by installing a homemade tensioner.
- The second minus is the light . To move in the dark, many craftsmen install an IZ headlight instead of the standard one.
- Steering wheel . For a small-width bike, the steering wheel is huge. Driving a stock one is very inconvenient.
- The brake and clutch handles do not fold. If it falls, the need for replacement is guaranteed.

Design
With enduro, which is also made in China, there can be no question about the frame material. Steel is definitely used . To make it more comfortable and improve controllability, a spatial scheme was used.
Conventional type suspension . There are upside-down forks at the front and a mono shock absorber at the rear. According to users, the working strokes are too small for enduro, amounting to only 150 mm . No special settings are provided.
Front telescopic fork.
The highlight of the model is the presence of a balancing shaft , which is far from common on 1-cylinder engines. Another is the availability of a full set of necessary parts (provided optionally), thanks to which the bike can be registered with the traffic police. In this case, there is no need to mention the presence of category “A” rights.
Exterior
Externally, the marshmallow (as users called it) bears little resemblance to enduro. In automotive terms, this is a crossover. It’s not yet an SUV, but it’s not just a car either.
Front end
- The fully equipped bike has optics , but most users modify it. The stock version is one small, irregularly shaped headlight, with turn indicators on either side of it.
The irregularly shaped headlight is set into a small piece of plastic.
Enduro does not have a body kit, as is customary . The large wing is lifted right under the headlight. The 18th wheel is installed in stock , but users noted that you can also install the 21st. Original tires must be changed immediately - the tread pattern only works well on smooth asphalt. According to reviews, the coating must be completely dry.
The front fender is made of fairly soft plastic.
Instrumentation
As usual for this type of equipment, the model does not provide instruments.
But when you purchase an optional package, you can get a complete set that other road warriors might envy.
A simple but quite informative instrument panel with pointer-type indicators. Most people find it convenient this way. It is visible in the sun, unlike the digital panels of other Chinese.
Back view
The rear stem of the bike is large. Users note that the plastic is durable, you can store the trunk and install a case on it - turning the model into a road model.
The saddle is standard, meaning that the user stands on the pegs for most of the ride. It is long, but the motorcycle is not designed for two riders - the engine power is not enough.
The gas tank is interestingly made . It has the shape of a parallelepiped placed on its side. The long edge is extended along the bike. Thus, the bike turned out to be “narrow in the shoulders”, which allows you to feel comfortable both on forest roads and in a city traffic jam. The tank is quite voluminous - it holds 12 liters . The neck is on the top. The stock version offers a regular wing cap, without the need for a key.
Interesting detail: The tank can be removed by unscrewing only one bolt. But this bolt also holds the upper edge of the saddle. Therefore, if it is necessary to service the motor, you have to remove the entire mounted system - saddle + tank.

Additional options
- hand protection - it is not included in the kit, buy it on Alischka and you will be happy;
- the rear-view mirrors are normal mirrors that do not shake even from the enormous vibration of this engine;
- LED turn signals - the first turn signal flooded when I was washing the motorcycle. Check your contacts immediately;
- The headlight is a standard light with a conventional incandescent lamp. Install H4 halogen and don’t worry;
- the rear light is also LED;
- speedometer - electronic, with advanced capabilities;
- aluminum rims - well, it’s very difficult to say what kind of metal will come to you in the box;
- The engine protection is ordinary plastic, just for show.
When purchasing this motorcycle from ABM, you will be given a special book, which should contain the technical characteristics of this motorcycle. But there are many inconsistencies in it, so you should trust our table.

The design of the Regulmoto ZR 250 is based on a powerful steel frame mounted on 21/18 wheels, which are best prepared for off-road use. The rims and wheel hubs are made of aluminum, and reinforced spokes and towbars are also installed to securely fix the tires to the rim. The enduro bike's suspension consists of a long-travel telescopic fork at the front and a steel swingarm with progression and a monoshock absorber with a compensation reservoir at the rear. The performance of the shock absorbers, if necessary, can be adjusted using compression/rebound adjustment.
The power plant of the motorcycle is represented by a single-cylinder 4-stroke Zongshen SZ172FMM-3A air-cooled engine with a displacement of 249.9 cm3; The Nibbi PE28 carburetor is responsible for preparing the fuel mixture. The technical potential of a reliable and productive engine allows it to demonstrate 21 horsepower of maximum power and 18 Hm of maximum torque.
The ZR 250 also attracts attention with its excellent appearance: the motorcycle is equipped with strong and flexible plastic with a bright design, made in the recognizable style of a popular model from a well-known manufacturer. The selection of quality components also deserves attention:

Description Kawasaki ZR-2 2000
The description of the Kawasaki ZR-2 2000 motorcycle is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls.
Kawasaki ZR-2 is a low popularity motorcycle in Russia. Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.
A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.
Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the Kawasaki ZR-2, whose technical characteristics make it possible to call the model a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.
Currently, it is impossible to purchase a new Kawasaki ZR-2 motorcycle of the 2000 model year, since their production stopped 16 years ago. At the same time, the Kawasaki ZR-2 has excellent technical characteristics, so many people strive to purchase, if not a new, then at least a used version.
Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 249 cc. see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.
The Kawasaki ZR-2 belongs to a common class of motorcycles with an engine capacity of 125 to 250 kb. cmAs a rule, these are light and relatively low-power motorcycles. Here you will get flexible control, easy steering and low weight of the motorcycle. Therefore, such motorcycles are suitable for almost every beginner, regardless of their characteristics. The exception is motorcycles with two-stroke engines of the “sport” and “cross” classes, since bikes of this class are distinguished by more power and an extremely sharp response to the throttle, which also does not make them obedient to control.

Jawa 638-5-00
Motorcycle Java 638 model 5-00 From the second half of 1984, Czechoslovak motorcycles began to arrive in the USSR. This is a transitional model between the well-known Java-634 machine and the new design Java-638-0-00 (“Behind the Wheel,” 1984, No. 10). New engine, electrical equipment, front fork - this is what primarily distinguishes the 638-5-00 model. Engine. Although its layout has not changed fundamentally, it has undergone a thorough modernization. The cylinders are not made of cast iron, but of an aluminum alloy with a pressed cast iron liner. Aluminum heads now have fins arranged differently. The result is more efficient cooling of the cylinders and heads, and a more uniform distribution of thermal loads. Also, for better cooling, the inclination of the cylinder axes relative to the vertical was reduced from 25 to 15°. 1. The distance between the axes of the cylinders has been increased by 12 mm compared to the YAVA-634 model. This made it possible to install a medium cola neck in the interests of increased durability.
Let me start by saying that the ZR200 is my first motorcycle.
Before it there were scooters and the Zodiak moped - one of the varieties of the mega-popular Alpha. On the Zodiac in August 2015, I had a significant accident, or rather, I was hit by a drunk idiot in a basin, who by that time had already been deprived of his license for drunk driving. The accident cost me several fractures and stitches; the Zodiac, to my amazement, escaped with several minor damage, the main one of which was a crushed fuel tank. I didn’t buy the original tank for restoration, but rather used an old Soviet tank from a Karpaty-sport moped. After the renovation it looked like this.
after which it was successfully sold. Then the insurance company responsible for the accident paid me compensation for my fractures and in the fall of 2015 I became the proud owner of a Chinese enduro or motard ABM ZR200 produced in 2014 and with a mileage of 2500 km.
I spent the winter agonizingly waiting for the start of the season, and at the same time I decided to get a driver’s license, which, in addition to the categories I already had, would have category “A”. I signed up for a driving school, where the teacher immediately said that those who already have a theory license don’t have to go, but it wouldn’t hurt to go to the race track with an instructor. So in the summer of 2016 I became a full-fledged motorcyclist. Zephyr, as I lovingly called my motorcycle, I really liked it as a city motorcycle. Lightweight, high seating position - you can see everything in front over the roofs of cars, a short final drive allows you to start sharply from a traffic light, kicking up the arrogant boys in Priors, not particularly attractive to car thieves, the plastic is strong and elastic - survived several falls without problems, very economical and high-torque at the bottom 164FML engine, high ground clearance and energy-intensive suspensions allow you to easily jump along curbs, tram rails and huge potholes that are so often found on our asphalt and what is especially valuable to me is that it allows you to move off the asphalt without any problems and rush along forest and field paths during forays on weekends. What I didn’t like: The ugly (to my taste) stock headlight, which shines disgustingly and the short main gear, which works well on rough terrain when driving on the highway, forces the engine to turn to maximum speed, despite the fact that the speed is low - about 90 km/h. The motorcycle rides quite calmly up any reasonable climb in 5th gear without straining at all; there is clearly excess traction to the detriment of comfort, efficiency and speed. I solved the problem with the headlight by exchanging the stock headlight for a headlight from Izh in excellent condition and with the inscription “Made in the USSR”. I put a car halogen H4 55/60 there, although I also have a purely motorcycle halogen HS1 35/35 in stock.
At the same time, I also made a trunk for long trips, which is easily mounted in place of the standard handles for the rear passenger.
Then I made a chain trap, installed an alarm system, engine crankcase protection, a glove compartment from an old stainless thermos, played with the GTZ as a result of which a 107 jet was installed from a DAAZ 21073 carburetor repair kit, increased the driver's footrests, remade the muffler and made a couple of new ones in search of optimal traction and sound , and installed a windshield from the ebrik to protect the now uncovered tidy from the rain.
However, soon I stupidly dropped the motorcycle, the windshield broke and I cut it out of thin polycarbonate, so it has survived to this day. I didn’t solve the problem with the main drive in the 2016 season, because by the end of the season the chain had completely stretched out and doing anything with it on the eve of winter was simply broken. This winter I bought a new 41 tooth rear sprocket instead of the stock 52 teeth and a new chain. I installed a fog light. I removed all the plastic and had it professionally painted with paint left over from painting a Volkswagen Polo. ))) I sprayed the matte black frame, fork, swingarm and rims with acrylic varnish from an aerosol can. Now it looks like this.
I remember with pleasure the wonderful last motorcycle season and look forward to the start of a new one. )))
PS I forgot to write about breakdowns. Over the course of 6,000 km, there was only one breakdown - the reserve fuel level sensor leaked and was replaced with a plug. Since I no longer have a reserve sensor, I made a dipstick to control the fuel level from a nylon clamp. I also broke countless mirrors and clutch and front brake levers - all in the process of stupid falls. )
