ZID YX250GY-C5C (enduro and motard) – full technical specifications

After trying out the pen in collaboration with Lifan, the ZiD plant (formerly) decided to expand the number of suppliers. New agreements were concluded with Yinxiang . Also China. Based on a new supplier, the ZiD YX250GY-C5C will be presented to the public in 2022.

As before, the motorcycle belongs to the budget class , is positioned as a soft-enduro, has a full set of necessary documents and instruments that allow it to be registered with the traffic police and should not raise questions from the inspectors of the named organization.

Buy Zid 50 Pilot

You can buy a new ZID 50 Pilot directly from the Degtyarev plant for 42 thousand rubles.
Prices for used mopeds start from 5 thousand rubles, it all depends on the condition of the motorcycle. In a good situation, after spending several months searching for a decent option on sites like auto.ru and other similar ones, such a moped in very good condition (used) can be bought within 10-15 thousand rubles. It all depends on your desire and ability to bargain. As for purchasing spare parts for the ZID 50, you definitely won’t have any problems with this. You can buy them at almost any motorcycle store.

By buying a Zid 50 Pilot, you are buying an easy-to-use, simple-design moped that will bring you a lot of joy and positive emotions. For owners of country houses or simply “dacha residents,” this is an ideal option for going to the nearest store to buy groceries. Moreover, it does not need to be registered with the traffic police, and you can ride it without a license.

Motorcycle price

The new ZiD Enduro 250 motorcycle costs about 80 thousand rubles . For about the same money, you can choose one of a dozen and a half other motorcycles of the same class, but from other manufacturers, however, they are unlikely to differ in anything other than appearance. A used copy will cost from 50 thousand rubles , depending on the condition, year of manufacture and the desire of the seller to quickly get rid of the annoying property.

Yamaha XT660Z Tenere

pros

  • suspension operation
  • power reserve
  • brakes
  • operating comfort

Minuses

  • no traction at low revs
  • 95 petrol

From 380,000 ₽

Users note the excellent ride of the Yamaha XT660Z on sand. The vibrations from the motor are not very strong. The second passenger is less comfortable than the first: he feels the shaking more strongly. The brakes work well. At speeds of 80 - 110 km/h, fuel consumption is from 3.6 to 4.5 liters. Among the shortcomings are 95 gasoline, the quality of the turn signals and weak rear legs. On rocky mountain roads you have to use the clutch more actively.

KTM 990 Adventure

pros

  • comfortable
  • picks up speed well

Minuses

  • the weight and sharpness take some getting used to
  • The steering wheel is a bit low
  • heavy

From 420,000 ₽

The test drive of the KTM 990 Adventure shows 900 km in 13 hours as the maximum mileage per day. The motorcycle picks up speed well from any position. Strong crosswinds can interfere with driving comfort. The KTM 990 Adventure can’t cope with riding in mud: the heavy steering wheel begins to twist. The model is equipped with excellent protection: even if it falls off-road, safety bars save you. Maximum fuel consumption per day is 8 liters. The 112 horsepower engine operates in a specific way and vibrates a lot, but you can get used to it.

Choosing the best Chinese enduro is not difficult. In recent years, China's technology has advanced, and decent equipment is being produced. Moreover, high-quality does not mean the most expensive.

Owner reviews

An extremely primitive motor, but tenacious and trouble-free. When driving for a long time through mud, it may begin to heat up, especially if the cylinder fins are covered, but this rarely happens, and you can only miss the moment of overheating due to your own stupidity, since it begins to fry brutally. The carburetor is from the times of Mao Zedong, even without a pump, everything just flows by gravity - it needs to be adjusted immediately after purchase, since initially it lives its own life and does what it wants. In general, it needs to be brought to mind, but for such a price everything is fine. Dmitry, Ussuriysk.

The device as a whole is normal, but damp and unfinished. The rear brake mechanism is generally poor, the pads do not grip the disc with the entire available area, and there are many such minor defects. The rear wing rattles and dangles so much that I'm afraid it will fly off sooner or later. The fuel gauge is lying on the big side, showing the maximum when you can easily pour another three liters into the tank. The suspension is tolerable, but it is better to pour harder oil into the fork, or put spacers under the springs, otherwise it may break through in the pits. The paint is weak, it scratches instantly, I think it will easily peel off and become covered with scuffs over the course of a season, judging by the quality. Anton, Severouralsk.

The motorcycle is definitely not for asphalt; in fifth gear, already at 5000 rpm, roars and vibrations begin, and the speed is no higher than 70 mph. On the ground it’s a completely different matter; you don’t have to be afraid of dead graders and forest paths, and you can safely drive through the mud. If you need an endurik for fun on rough terrain, then you can buy it for that kind of money. Ivan, Bataysk.

❌ Disadvantages

  • In terms of dynamic characteristics, it is inferior to any Japanese analogue (but costs 5-6 times less).
  • A narrow seat that is difficult to sit in for a long time.
  • The rims and subframe (weak, when hit at speed in large holes, they immediately bend).
  • The standard 520 chain is prone to stretching, so it is recommended to replace it after a year of intensive use.
  • There is no fuel sensor, which is very inconvenient.
  • The rear shock absorber may need modification, as it is unreliable and may not withstand constant driving on rough roads.
  • Often there is such a defect as rattling when driving, which occurs due to the lack of valve clearance (you must manually set 0.06-0.07 for the intake and 0.08-0.09 for the exhaust).
  • The license plate mount is fragile and may crack after a few drops.
  • There is no oil filter, but you can buy and install a mesh (ZS CB250D-G - it costs no more than 30 rubles).

Model history

The 3-wheeled motorcycle ZiD Farmer (aka ZDK-5.904) has a thirty-year history. It was originally designed for use in rural areas, which is why everything in its parts is adapted for off-road driving. The prototypes for Farmer were the Sova motorcycle and the ZDK-175-4ShP four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle, which were produced at the same Kovrov plant.

In the mid-1990s, based on the Farmer motorcycle, two models were created - the two-wheel rear-wheel drive “ZDK-200 2ShP” and the all-wheel drive Tarzan. Unfortunately, in the 2000s, the production of all of the listed models was suspended by the V.A. Plant. Degtyareva. This has nothing to do with the outdated technical characteristics of the motorcycles - due to financial difficulties, the company abandoned the production of all its original products. Instead, the plant focused on custom motorcycles made from foreign parts. For example, since 2004, the ZiD Lifan has been assembled with a Chinese engine, which, by the way, can also be installed on the Farmer.

Motor maintenance and adjustments

Scheduled maintenance includes changing the oil and flushing the fuel tank after every 40 hours of operation and cleaning the air filter. Next, standard work is carried out: adjusting valves, carburetor, flushing the oil system. A detailed description and frequency of work are given in the operating instructions. In general, disassembling and reassembling the engine is not fundamentally different from similar models.

In recent years, engine modifications have gained popularity. This is due to the fact that it is now difficult to obtain suitable spare parts, as well as the expansion of technical capabilities for maintenance. There is no point in carrying out repairs if you can replace parts with more modern ones and thus save money and increase engine performance. Among the most common operations are increasing the compression ratio of the fuel-air mixture, converting the engine to A-92 gasoline, etc. The improved engine can even be installed on motorcycles, such as the ZID 50, the tuning of which is popular among motorcyclists.

Peculiarities

Despite the positioning of the motorcycle as a SOFT-enduro, it received:

  1. all optics are LED;
  2. full dashboard in electronic version;

The instrument panel consists of an electronic tachometer, speedometer and odometer. The fuel gauge is a pointer, with indicator lights. The ignition switch is located below as a separate unit.

  3. fuel sensor and indicator;
  4. good and tenacious brakes;
  5. with good “checkered” patterns are already supplied as stock (some users still recommend changing them immediately);
  6. long suspension travel, which allows you to drive at good speed even along forest paths;
  7. perfect balancing that allows you to climb even where your classmates will stand.

Engine ZID 4.5 - technical specifications, instructions, adjustment

The ZID-4.5 engine is a four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled internal combustion gasoline engine and is designed for installation on self-propelled agricultural machines, and can also be used in stationary installations for the mechanization of various agricultural works.

Depending on the purpose of the engine, the manufacturer produces ZID-4.5 engines of various configurations (series), each of which is intended for a specific unit or type of work. However, these arrangements can be used to drive other units.

The ZID-4.5M engine is designed for mechanization of various agricultural works.

On the flywheel side, the engine has a pulley for a belt drive, and on the gearbox side, a sprocket for a chain drive when the engine operates in stationary installations.

The engine has a two-stage gearbox with gear ratios of 1:6 and 1:2.91, which reduce the crankshaft speed.

On the flywheel side there is a pulley for belt transmission when the engine is running in a stationary installation. The engine is secured by two crankcase struts to the machine frame or a stationary installation.

The ZID-4.5 DU-M engine is designed to drive water lifts. It is equipped with a single-stage gearbox with a gear ratio of 1:6. There is no sprocket for the chain drive on the engine.

The ZID-4.5 VN-M engine is designed to drive the vacuum pump of the UDS-1-2S milking unit. The engine is equipped with a single-stage gearbox with a gear ratio of 1:2.91.

There is no sprocket for the chain drive on the engine.

For distinction, the letters “DU” and “VN” are included in the nameplates of the engines, indicating their layout.

The engine is started using a cord wound around a pulley. You can start the engine in both first and second gears of the gearbox.

It is possible to start the engine using the starting handle using the gearbox shaft, but this requires a lot of force, since rotation is transmitted to the crankshaft through the gearbox. When installing the gearbox in second gear, the starting force required is less than when installing the gearbox in first gear.

Technical characteristics of the ZID-4.5 engine

Here is an interesting excerpt from the instruction manual. Modern manufacturers, be it Honda or Subaru, do their best to avoid answering the question of engine life.

Another interesting excerpt from the instructions, which indicates what kind of gasoline for the ZID 4.5 engine

Engine Installation

The ZID-4.5 engine, being a single-cylinder, cannot be completely balanced. It is subject to vibration, which increases if it is not installed correctly. Therefore, when installing the engine, the following basic requirements must be met.

1. On agricultural machines, the engine must be installed on a strong and rigid frame that does not allow deflection when the engine is running. The profiled iron frame must be made in such a way that the engine feet rest on a shelf at least 7 mm thick. The frame must be on a rigid base and have supports at a distance of at least 500 mm from each other. Do not install the engine on separate sections of channel or other non-rigid objects.

2. When installing the engine on a wooden base, it is necessary to tie a frame from beams with a cross-section of at least 12x12 cm.

Advantages and disadvantages

It must be admitted that Chinese designers tried to improve the motorcycle as much as possible, while keeping its price at a low level. And they succeeded! So the bike has acquired not only, for example, good suspensions, but also such optional nice little things as a USB charger for the phone. And given its price, it would be unfair to judge it too harshly.

Advantages

  • Light weight and ergonomics thought out to the smallest detail. The bike is easy and convenient to handle.
  • Good suspensions for such a budget enduro.
  • Ease of maintenance and repair.
  • A good LED headlight with a properly concentrated light output.
  • Energy-intensive long-travel suspensions that cope well with road irregularities.

Flaws

  • Standard tires are of low quality. If your budget allows, it is better to replace it immediately after purchasing a motorcycle.
  • At high speeds the engine generates strong vibrations.
  • High fuel consumption when driving over rough terrain.

Motorcycle modifications

There are no modifications of the ZiD 250 Enduro in nature; the bike is produced in only one form. But the first batches of motorcycles were delivered with off-road standard tires , and in 2022 they were replaced with half-road tires , that is, less “toothy.” However, when buying a used motorcycle on the secondary market, this does not matter, and there are no other differences by year of manufacture.

Video

The front has an independent single-link suspension with shock absorbers. In the rear part of the structure, a pendulum-type dependent suspension is used. Zid 200 Tarpan is equipped with standard wheels that provide sufficiently high traction in almost any conditions. The standard equipment includes only the most important elements, namely headlights, rear brake lights, direction indicators, and rear-view mirrors. All this makes movement safer and more comfortable. The car can also drive on public roads. In addition to these equipment, there is a towbar and mounts for the trunk. At the request of the consumer, the package can be equipped with various other elements.

Starting a gasoline engine is traditionally done using an electric starter, but starting using a kickstarter is also possible. As for convenience, the ATV has a comfortable seat, although only a single seat. There is an instrument panel behind the steering wheel. It should be noted that this element has very few indicators, namely the speedometer, odometer, as well as indicators for turning on the high/low beam and turn signals. Many consumers note that this is not enough for a long drive, since the engine may overheat or the fuel in the tank may run out at the most inopportune moment, and the driver will not know about it. Therefore, this can be considered a disadvantage, but not a big one, since with careful operation such situations may not happen.

On the steering wheel, all the necessary elements are located very ergonomically, which ensures comfortable and understandable control of the all-terrain vehicle. For added convenience, the front end was equipped with fog lights.

It is important that there is no protection for elements such as the engine, transmission and others, which is why the ATV can get very serious damage if driven carelessly or off-road, so you should always remember this

Specifications

For such a modest price you shouldn’t expect to get a powerful, modern and technologically advanced bike. Structurally, the ZiD 250 Enduro has one foot in the last century, but this is even to its advantage - old-fashioned, but reliable components and parts were used in its creation. Reliability is important for any motorcycle, but especially for an off-road motorcycle, because no one wants to get stuck in the forest with a seized engine. And with this bike, you are unlikely to face such a prospect.

Engine

The motor, well known to many motorcyclists, has already proven itself due to its reliability and maintainability. It is installed on various motorcycles of other motorcycle manufacturers from China, and is distinguished by its extreme primitiveness, as well as fault tolerance. There is simply nothing to break in it, and that’s good! The power, however, is low, only 14 hp, but this is enough to accelerate the bike on asphalt to 100 km/h, if you don’t mind strong vibrations. The engine is protected from impacts by the crankcase protection and frame, and this does not seem to interfere with cooling by the incoming air flow.

Transmission

What could be simpler than a 5-speed gearbox developed half a century ago? Nothing, the Chinese designers decided, and therefore installed just such a unit. By the way, it can be seen on a dozen other models, like the above-mentioned engine. The gears are short, you have to work with them often, but this only causes discomfort when driving on public roads. But on rough terrain the ZiD 250 Enduro feels good, and short gear ratios only add to its agility.

Chassis and brakes

Chinese engineers used the simplest steel frame, which, moreover, is not particularly rigid or durable, but generally copes with its tasks. The suspensions are long-travel, but weak, especially the front telescopic fork, so most owners fill it with harder oil, although the manufacturer does not recommend this. A classic pendulum with a monoshock absorber is installed at the rear, and on bumps with a heavy load or when there is a passenger, there is a risk of the rear wheel meeting the wing. The brakes on both wheels are disc, but they are not very effective. Although we can say thank you at least for the fact that we did without the ancient drum mechanism at the back, like some other “Chinese” ones.

Electronics

There is nothing more complicated than a battery and light optics in this motorcycle, but the layout of the electronics raises questions. The battery, for example, is not well protected from moisture, and if you drive through streams and swamps, you can easily fill it with water, which can easily lead to dire consequences. And after purchasing a bike, it is advisable to insulate the wiring yourself, since, apparently, they don’t bother with this at the factory.

Weight and dimensions

Weighing just over 120 kg, the Zid 250 Enduro does not seem heavy at all and is very easy to handle. But not everyone will be able to reach the ground with both legs at once - the height of the saddle is about 90 cm, so short-legged motorcyclists will have a hard time. But thanks to the short wheelbase (1375 mm), the bike is able to turn around in a two-meter space, and such maneuverability helps it a lot when driving through the forest.

Controllability

How can a primitive motorcycle of an archaic design, somehow assembled by Chinese workers on the third shift, be controlled? It’s not bad, in fact, if it weighs little and is modest in size. Like the Zid Lifan YX 250 GY, for example - this thing steers better than one might expect. There are some complaints about directional stability at high speed, but this is a consequence of the use of off-road tires.

Fuel consumption

Dealers, at the suggestion of Chinese manufacturers, claim that the average fuel consumption of the ZiD 250 Enduro does not exceed 3 liters per 100 km. There is no reason to doubt their words, but it is necessary to clarify that this figure is relevant only for those who drive a lot on asphalt. On rough terrain, consumption can be several times higher, and the fuel level must be monitored. However, the gas tank holds 10 liters, which is enough for a whole day of even the most active rides through the forests.

For whom is it intended?

A 165 cm tall biker feels quite comfortable on this motorcycle.

The question in the title is a fairly frequent subject of discussion on various resources. On the one hand, a low saddle makes for a comfortable ride for a short rider . On the other hand, a fairly high ground clearance (this is an enduro after all) is chosen mainly by bikers whose height is above average .

However, according to user reviews, a narrowed saddle is only suitable for short distance trips. Traveling far is “inconvenient.”

The double saddle is designed to seat two people.

Repair and tuning

Repairing Chinese motorcycles is a rather thankless task, since they often require attention. But this is compensated by a large number of available spare parts, high maintainability, low prices and simplicity of all service operations. To repair or service the Zid 250 Enduro yourself, you do not need to be an experienced motorcycle mechanic. A manual book and a desire to understand the design of your two-wheeled friend will be enough.

Repair

Most components can be repaired, and with minimal labor and time. Parts that cannot be repaired are easily replaced with new ones, and if you wish, you can even buy a new engine without any problems. Moreover, such a purchase will not hit your budget too much! Although it’s still unlikely that you’ll have to go broke like this.

Spare parts

There are no problems finding them! Many of the necessary hardware can always be purchased from dealers, and many others are suitable for motorcycles from the brands Lifan, Zongshen, Motoland, Racer and others. They are cheap and are usually available at any motorcycle store specializing in Chinese motorcycles. The quality, of course, varies, but all the main components of the ZiD 250 Enduro are quite reliable, judging by the reviews and feedback from the owners.

Tuning

There is simply a huge amount of available tuning. Of course, it is not intended specifically for Zid Lifan motorcycles - these are all universal parts and body kit elements, inexpensive and often produced at some factory with an unpronounceable name, lost in the vastness of China. But the scope for “improvement” opens up unprecedented, and most ideas can be implemented without significant costs.

FAQ

  • Is it assembled in China and Russia? The manufacturer does not disclose details, but usually bikes arrive in Russia almost assembled, but here only wheels, handlebars and body kit elements are installed on them, which are dismantled before transportation.
  • Is it possible to find spare parts and tuning in China for this model? Yes, the hero of our article is a purebred “Chinese”, so Chinese online stores have parts for him.
  • How about the compatibility of parts? He's doing well with this. Many spare parts are suitable from similar models of Racer, Irbis and other Chinese motorcycle manufacturers.

Device

The frame with seat and fuel tank were taken from the Farmer's ancestor - ZiD Sova. The ZDK-P two-stroke single-cylinder gasoline engine and rear axle completely replicate the ZDK-200 2ShP power system. Cooling occurs by air using a centrifugal fan.

The front and rear suspensions with spring-hydraulic shock absorbers are original (that is, not found in analogues). They were developed at the Degtyarev Plant specifically for wide tricycle wheels.

The engine responds instantly to the throttle. You can move away even in second gear. In cold weather, the engine also starts perfectly, but it requires warming up for 2-4 minutes.

The installed tubeless wide wheels YA-417 allow you to force quite deep snow and overcome marshy surfaces. The bad thing is that the rear wheels and shock absorbers sit on a splined surface that is only 2 centimeters long. Because of this, when moving, the wheels quickly become loose and break the connection.

Technical characteristics of Motoland XR 250

We can say that they correspond to the price. The bike doesn’t have enough stars in the sky, but it feels confident both off-road and on asphalt, so even in the company of friends riding Japanese motorcycles, the owner of the Motoland 250 Enduro will not feel vulnerable. Its technical characteristics allow it to keep on par with its famous competitors, and in some cases, even ahead of more powerful and heavier devices.

Engine

The Motoland Enduro XR250 motorcycle is equipped with a 1-cylinder 4t air-cooled engine, simple but reliable. Power - 16 hp, maximum speed - 120 km/h. The engine loves high revs, but there is also traction in the lower and middle ranges, which is critical for an off-road bike.

Transmission

Engineers from the Middle Kingdom equipped the XR250 Enduro with a standard 5-speed gearbox, interlocked with the engine in a single unit. It works properly, a little harshly, but you can get used to it in a day or two. The first three gears are short, so you will have to change them often.

Chassis and brakes

Taking a conventional steel frame as a basis, the designers equipped the Motoland XR 250 with simple suspensions without any adjustments - a monoshock absorber with a pendulum at the rear, a telescopic fork at the front. But the suspensions have significant free play, and they are enough even for aggressive off-road driving. The brakes didn't let us down either - a hydraulic system with brake discs is installed on each wheel.

Electronics

There are no complex electronic components in the XR250 Enduro. All wiring is connected to a switch located under the seat, and if necessary, understanding it will not be difficult. Of course, there is an electric starter, but the good news is that the motorcycle is also equipped with a kickstarter. It is advisable to use a gel battery instead of an acid one, since the latter are afraid of falls, which can damage them.

Weight and dimensions

The Motoland 250 Enduro features adult dimensions and weighs around 125 kg. If you put it next to some Honda or Kawasaki of the same class, it will not be easy to find visual differences between Chinese and Japanese bikes. The seat height is significant, but most riders are unlikely to have problems getting their feet to the ground.

Controllability

The ability to handle the bike off-road when your feet are in the mud is very important for enduro. The Motoland Enduro XR250 motorcycle is good in this regard - the center of mass is low, and you can fearlessly tilt it to significant limits; the point of no return from the vertical is greatly deviated. The steering angle is relatively small, so the steering wheel is unlikely to slip out of your hands and lock in the turned position, causing you to fall.

Fuel consumption

Gasoline consumption declared by the manufacturer is 3.5 liters of AI-92 per 100 km. This figure is real, but only if the Motoland XR 250 Enduro motorcycle is used on the roads and not off them. In extreme conditions, fuel consumption increases by one and a half to two times. But the volume of the gas tank is as much as 9 liters, and this is enough even for long trips.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like other motorcycles produced in China, the ZiD 250 Enduro is distinguished by its low cost and extremely simplified design. Most often, owners' complaints come down to assembly flaws, and not to the quality of the components themselves, although this particular model was clearly created in a hurry, and therefore was not thoroughly thought out.

Advantages

  • A durable engine with a long (with proper maintenance) service life.
  • Maintainability. Almost everything can be repaired, and what cannot be repaired can be replaced at minimal cost.
  • The motorcycle can run on any gasoline. Probably, if AI-80 is poured into it, it will not even notice it.
  • No problems finding spare parts. Even the ZiD Lifan YX 250 GY engine is installed in one form or another on many other bikes.

Flaws

  • Poor design. Nothing critical, but there are a lot of unpleasant little things, like an unfinished rear brake or weak fender mounts.
  • An unremarkable design, as if copied from other budget Chinese small-capacity models.
  • Strong vibrations at high speeds.
  • Inconvenient standard mirrors of non-standard shape, which are best replaced immediately after purchase.

Design

Apparently, all the designers were suddenly fired just when the question of the appearance for this motorcycle arose. Because, in principle, it has no design - it was simply molded from whatever came to hand. Take a look at the photo - the result is a 100% faceless device, instantly lost among its own kind, not standing out at all. But this is enduro! His task is to overcome off-road conditions , and not to show off in front of the audience.

Conclusion

The Motoland XR 250 Enduro is definitely worth the money - dealers are asking less than $1,500 for a brand new bike. And its quality is quite good; it is devoid of many shortcomings typical of budget motorcycles made in China. You may still have to put your hands to it, but we can say with confidence that this motorcycle does not fall apart on the move and does not bother the owner with regular breakdowns. And off-road it feels great, and is practically not inferior to more expensive Japanese analogues, which, even in heavily used condition, are more expensive than the brainchild of Motoland.
