Russia is now full of motorcycles from various Chinese manufacturers, but the Lifan brand has long proven itself well. This company, founded in 1992, produces both motorcycles and cars, but, unlike most other Chinese concerns, it started with the production of two-wheeled vehicles. For more than a quarter of a century, Lifan engineers have learned to create really good bikes that are definitely worth the money.
Lifan motorcycles have been supplied to Russia and other CIS countries for more than ten years, and even before the appearance of motorcycle equipment at official dealers, small private motorcycle dealerships began actively selling them. At the same time, Lifan does not supply all the models that the company produces to the CIS, since China remains the concern’s main sales market. For obvious reasons, the most budget-friendly small-capacity bikes and scooters are unlikely to be in high demand in our realities.
Lifan engineers went through all stages of motorcycle design, starting, like most other Chinese companies, by copying successful Japanese models of bygone years. Later they began to license individual components, and even copied several very successful Japanese bikes, releasing the Lifan LF250 and LF400, which are exact copies of the Yamaha XV250 and XV400, respectively. This was a good step, since the models turned out to be really quite good. But now Lifan motorcycles are being developed in the bowels of this company from scratch, and progress, it should be noted, is obvious.
At the same time, some components of Lifan motorcycles purchased by the company from third-party Chinese or Japanese manufacturers are compatible with models of other motorcycle manufacturers from China. This is a significant advantage, since spare parts and tuning for bikes of this brand are easy to find due to this circumstance. And the success of some Lifan motorcycles is already evidenced by the fact that the products of this company are copied by other Chinese companies. So, the Reggy Cowboy 250 motorcycle, for example, is an almost exact copy of the Lifan LF250.
Currently, only small-capacity motorcycles are produced under the Lifan brand. This is largely due to the fact that the company’s main sales come from the Chinese market, which has strict tax restrictions on motorcycles with engines larger than 250 cc. see. But there has already been information on the Internet that in case of commercial success in the markets of other countries, in particular Russia, Lifan will consider the possibility of producing heavier motorcycles, initially aimed at importing abroad.

LIFAN LF200ZH-3 – cargo motorcycle
