Chassis

The second important technical characteristic is the chassis. The chassis includes a transmission, chassis units and control mechanisms.

The chassis is the second important technical characteristic

More detailed characteristics are presented below:

  • off-road front wheel tires, type AT21x7-10;
  • off-road rear wheel tires, type AT20x10-10;
  • hydraulic brake system;
  • front and rear disc brakes;
  • centrifugal, dry clutch;
  • 3 gears;
  • spring-hydraulic front and rear shock absorbers;

APACHE BACKCOUNTRY TRACK SYSTEM

Driving in deep snow and difficult conditions of winter operation of the equipment sometimes required the installation of bulky track systems on the ATV. 's all-new Apache Backcountry will forever change the boundaries of what's possible for those battling harsh winter weather or plowing their way through deep snow.

– Increased controllability

The Apache Backcountry Track Kit combines snowmobile-inspired technology with the same high-quality performance that is familiar to Apache 360 systems, resulting in high ground clearance, minimal snow-to-snow pressure, and unsurpassed deep snow capability.

– Advanced technical solutions

These tracks are designed for aggressive use and are equipped with 5 cm high lugs for excellent flotation. Add to that the industry's largest contact surface area provided by the 34 cm wide front and 35.5 cm wide rear tracks, and you can see how the Apache Backcountry system provides minimal snow surface pressure and virtually constant traction even in deep snow.

– Unique performance characteristics

Uniform distribution of the load on the surface is ensured through the use of a lightweight, durable frame and specially shaped guides in the design. Due to this, excellent traction, acceleration and controllability are achieved. Increased control when turning, braking or traversing slopes will allow Can-Am ATV owners to climb higher on slopes or get into deeper snow - in short, veering off the beaten path during winter trips.

– Easy to install

The Apache Backcountry Track System turns everyday life into thrilling adventures with its advanced design and unique performance characteristics. What's more, the easy installation and ability to quickly swap tracks for wheels will allow owners to easily decide where to go next time without having to worry about the time-consuming installation of a track kit on their ATV. You should spend more time looking for winter adventures, not service!

To install this track system, you will need a special Apache 360 Backcountry installation kit (purchased separately). The track kit is intended for winter use only.

Other options

Other parameters include secondary qualities of the ATV or those that cannot be classified into one large group:

  • The fuel tank volume is 7.5 liters;
  • the weight of the entire Apache 150 ATV is 137 kg;
  • it can be accelerated to a maximum of 65 km/h;
  • maximum load capacity – 280 kg;

“I originally purchased this model because of its low price. Honestly, I thought that in the near future I would regret it. However, it turned out that the ATV does not require special care, and it is a pleasure to ride.”

And Alexander Golodyuk shared his impressions of his purchase of the Apache Track 250:

“I’ve wanted to buy a similar unit for a long time, but I didn’t have enough money. Not long ago I saved up and bought my dream. Now I ride it in the village all year round, I even taught my wife. Now we often argue about who will drive.”

Driving characteristics of the summer version of Apache Track 200 cc

Driving characteristics of the summer version of Apache Track 200 cc

When an ATV of this model is equipped with conventional wheels, it has average performance for equipment of this class. The device is quite playful, easily picks up speed and holds itself stably in turns and on obstacles.

Rubber-running 199 cc engine. cm allows this device to accelerate to 65 km/h, which is a very decent indicator for this class. The same engine is capable of producing 16 horsepower, which does not prevent it from being quite economical. In the summer version, the device consumes only 3.8 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers. With a tank volume of 5.5 liters, this figure allows it to be used for quite a long time without refueling.

Winter version of Apache Track 200cc and its features

Winter version of the Apache Track 200cc ATV snowmobile

When the vehicle is equipped with caterpillar tracks and skis, its speed and efficiency are relatively reduced, however, cross-country ability increases. This becomes especially true when moving through very deep and loose snow, where it can fully compete in cross-country ability with conventional snowmobiles.

In winter configuration, the device is capable of moving through snow at a speed of only 35 km/h, which is a pretty good indicator for snowy areas. Fuel consumption can reach up to 10 liters per 100 kilometers traveled. And even with this consumption, the device can be considered economical, because the tank volume is enough to travel in the snow over a distance of 60 kilometers.

Features of the Apache Track 200 cc configuration

Equipment for the Apache Track 200cc ATV snowmobile

As for the configuration and additional equipment of this model, some small but useful details deserve attention. There is also a reliable towing device, which in winter allows you to pull a sled with a load of up to 200 kilograms.

Finally, it should be noted that, despite its versatility and decent equipment, the Apache Track 200cc ATV snowmobile is relatively inexpensive. This allows it to successfully compete with other models that do not have such versatility.

Owner reviews

The Apache 150 ATV is characterized by its owners as a maneuverable model. This is facilitated by the special tire tread pattern, as well as the high suspension. In addition, wide tires provide high cross-country ability of the ATV. When driving on different routes, the model demonstrates high cross-country ability. Wheels do not spin on dirt, gravel or clay. But the car will be able to show all its delights only on relatively flat and hard roads, for example, on asphalt or concrete.

The engine power is enough to transport cargo and ride with a passenger. The motor also allows you to easily overcome various obstacles, for example, bumps, potholes, and potholes on the road. The model can be used both on public roads and off-road. This is a pretty fast and versatile ATV.

Drivers claim that everything in the Apache 150 is done very well. Many people like the information dashboard. Fuel consumption is minimal. With average frequency of use, a full fuel tank lasts for a week.

ABM Apache Track 180 (Model 2012 - 2013)

Alex Nefedov APACH TRUCK 180CC 12/21/13

Winter adventures, or monitor the condition of the belt - APACH TRUCK 180CC Well, I don’t know what to write, in short, I assembled everything, it also turned out that my rear caliper was jammed, I installed washers, the axle began to spin simply by hand, I began to tension the chain without tracks, pulled it up, checked it, turned it normally, started it, turned on the front one and... the front one began to fly out, adjusted it, checking the tension.... set it up... turned on the front one, turned it, sagged, HM..... I twist the axle by hand.... WOW the rear sprocket has axial runout.... stunned......well, okay, I rebuilt it to the average, started everything up in a bunch. I didn’t bother to cook the tank, I was tormented and just inserted a wooden block and screwed a screw into the hole for the bolt, well, it’s not aesthetically pleasing, but at least I’ll do that, but only from plexiglass or plastic such a spacer. I started it up, rattled it, well, I think I need to go for a ride…..I drove out….. the lafa…. the move is easy, doesn’t knock anything out, the speed has increased…. food the soul vibrates with pleasure... Well, I think there’s 2/3 tanks of gasoline….. I’m giving up in a big circle….. I’m riding happily….. the moon is shining full, there are a lot of stars in the sky, it’s really beautiful and whimsical….. such an awesome feeling of pleasure….IIIIIIIII….. he there’s a stake…..well, I think it’s crazy… the nearest road is 3 km away….. forest and 21-00… holy shit…. I turn on 27 MHz, call my wife..... she hears, but poorly..... I turn on the emergency channel on the digital station, writes in the access zone, explains the situation and the battery runs out.... I ended up without any connection. My wife screams on 27 MHz that she is coming in my direction..... 22-00 we met on the road.... and she didn’t take any tools or anything…… we got to the quad, poked, started the winder, completely broke the left plastic of the footrest…. well, grab the hands of those who designed it... so even a women’s 38 doesn’t fit there... it starts, but doesn’t drive.... they spat and went home... 5 km back, they came to dress the child, it’s not a good idea to leave him alone... they explained that he had special night adventures..... and so the barn along a snowy forest road, on highway winter tires....235\60\16..... lowering all-wheel drive, and at a glance walked half the forest... sat down, the back was snowed down to the headlights... it's 45cm.... there was a track here but it was closed... dug up, took off, flew to the edge of the forest... well, now we need to push the quadric to the road and drag the two of us for 300m across the virgin soil... in short, they dragged it for about an hour.... umud…. this is nothing to say... Well, they dragged me... but we have to turn around... we dug out a site... somewhere 6x8... I start to turn around…..they sat on their belly…we dug themselves in……. Well, in 40 minutes I was able to jump back out... I found a place to turn around where the snow seemed to be dense... gas... and it turns us around, just as it should... we got hooked again... we dug up and turned around...... well, they didn’t drive backwards, they dragged the quad, hooked it... it’s already an hour... the little one has ecstasy.. he likes it... Well, on the way back….some of them slipped through and in the place where they got in last time the car also gets blown into powder…. Well, we sat down tightly…..in short, we dug…. It's already 2 o'clock... we bent the diamond jack... well, we have to go home... my wife went.... Time passes, I see he’s coming back... I met some evil dogs in the forest, he’s back... well... I took the jack extension... rod... and went... fortunately, I walked side by side for 1 km through the forest 1 along the road... the dogs, feeling that they were being put on the extension, didn’t even poke their noses in.... Well, I got there... I took the drag net, threw on some boards, took a jack and a winch, changed the weapon to a Finnish egg cutter... like a machete from the 80s, a knife for mineral wool... I put on the strap of the drag net and went back. And what a moon it was, as bright as day... I wonder how people would react at 3 o’clock in the morning when they met a dirty man with drags and a 50cm knife. I came... I tried the winch.. I don’t care... I just don’t care..... the whole car has already been dug up and everything under the bottom has been dug up, but there’s a bastard sitting...... we jacked it up, put boards under all the wheels... gas..... and lo and behold, at 4 o’clock in the morning we drove out onto the hard snow …. pulled the quad, hooked it up.. and off we went…. somewhere 25m before reaching the road it blows away again... we decided that we don’t have the strength to dig anymore..... and we unhooked the quad and dug a bit.. we left and hooked it again and lo and behold..... we headed home... we arrived without incident....

Repair and tuning

When purchasing a new Apache 150 ATV, repairs are carried out free of charge by the manufacturer. But if desired, the vehicle owner can perform additional tuning. The manufacturer offers the installation of a rear or front rack as such options.

You can replace the speedometer. Instead of a standard device, a model with an electronic operating principle is installed. You can also additionally install an engine hour sensor and additional rear-view mirrors, which will make driving comfortable and safe. If you plan to travel on the roads, you should think about brake lights.

If repairs are required after the warranty period has expired, the necessary parts can be found on the market. If you wish, you can replace components and parts yourself. For the presented model, not only original parts are suitable, but also similar spare parts from Chinese cars. The components are inexpensive, so the owner can save a lot on maintenance.

Reviews

  1. I purchased the ABM Apache 200 ATV because of its low cost. The model, in my opinion, is quite successful. The ATV is not demanding in terms of maintenance, quite economical, easy to control and comfortable. The plastic elements of the body look flimsy, but in reality they are not at all. The plastic here is shock-resistant, which I checked while driving through a forested area. Although the luggage platform is not designed to carry large loads, it is quite enough for the things needed on the road. In my free time from work, I often ride an ATV for fishing and sometimes hunting. It does not bury itself in the snow, especially if you install skis and chains. The cross-country ability on dirt is also impressive; swampy areas are easy to navigate, as are water areas. In principle, for the money it’s a pretty excellent device.
  2. Recently moved to another region. We have a lot of forests here, but driving through them all on a bicycle is very difficult. In this regard, I thought about buying some inexpensive and passable all-terrain vehicle. I accidentally came across the ABM Apache 200 model and, after looking at all the technical specifications, I realized that the equipment was ideal for my requirements. I bought it in the city for 140 thousand rubles and after checking the equipment, on the very first day I set out to conquer the local beauty. The ATV may be Chinese, but its quality is quite high. Reliability is also beyond any doubt. The car can go almost everywhere, and thanks to its relatively small mass, in some cases it can be pushed out on its own. Maintenance is not particularly expensive; the machine generally requires topping up working fluids and less often replacing them.
  3. The ATV has many flaws, although for such a price tag this is quite normal. The first malfunctions during the run-in were problems with electrical wiring. At first the headlights worked normally when driving, but then they began to blink when the gas was added. The battery is fully charged, nothing unnecessary is connected, but this problem often appears. The brake lights do not work correctly, namely, they will light up once, but not again the second time. I checked the contacts, it turned out that they were very poorly connected. I fixed it and now everything is normal. The plastic began to crack in the cold, which is why we had to partially abandon winter use. But besides the shortcomings, the model still has its advantages. I liked the maneuverability and power in it, it’s very playful, especially when cornering. The controls are not satisfactory; everything is quite simple and convenient. Cross-country ability is acceptable and even higher than that of some analogues.

Apache 150 ATV

Until recently, it was believed that ATVs were an entertainment technique for the richer segment of the population. However, with the emergence of a manufacturer such as China on the world stage, the whole situation has changed dramatically. Today, people can buy quads regardless of their income, since their price categories have expanded significantly.

Apache 150 ATV

The Chinese produce fairly high-quality goods at prices significantly lower than their counterparts from the USA, Taiwan or Japan. Chinese ATV manufacturers quickly adopted the experience of engineers from abroad and began to produce good equipment. In this article, we will look at the topic of what Chinese ATVs are (using specific examples) and we will figure out whether it is necessary to buy more expensive equipment from China.

Apache 150 ATV – why pay less?

The Apache 150 ATV appeared on the market not long ago and can be purchased for 100,000 rubles. The offer seems very tempting due to the price category.

Characteristics of the Apache 150 ATV

The Apache 150 ATV has an engine capacity of 149 cubic meters, which produces as much as 9 horsepower. A CVT transmission works together with a four-stroke gasoline engine. The drive to the wheels is carried out via a chain transmission. The ATV is a two-seater, and therefore has a length of 2 meters. The width is 1 meter and the height is 1.3 meters. Disc brakes are installed on the front and rear wheels. The speed that this quad can reach is 60 km/h. The basic equipment includes a luggage compartment (front and rear), counters on the steering wheel, and turn signals.

Winter version of the Apache 150 ATV

Compared to machines of the same class from foreign manufacturers, the Apache 150 ATV has a great price advantage, and it is no worse equipped and equipped. However, such a four-wheeler can be more likely attributed to the teenage look. For an adult, its low power of 9 horses and the transported weight for two people with luggage of 150 kg are unlikely to be enough.

Test drive AlfamotoApache 200

My first “confrontation” with this bike took place in its historical homeland – China*. That day, the test “menu” was very extensive, and against the backdrop of very interesting examples of the Chinese motorcycle industry, the 200 cc “stunted” did not make much of an impression on me. Yes, it looked pretty good, rode well and was well built... but it didn't impress. The second acquaintance took place in Ukraine and lasted for six months. But first things first.

The Lifan YK200 is the heir to the tradition established by the Yamaha YBR125. This is a lightweight city motorcycle, designed to quickly get through traffic jams and minimize the owner's financial gain. And, in fact, that’s all.

Unfortunately, many owners of such equipment misunderstand the message of the creators. A similar bike can easily be seen galloping along a rural dirt road with a load of: a 100-kilogram summer resident, a 100-kg summer resident’s wife and three bags of potatoes. The other extreme is young racers who strive to boost the engine in every possible way and set speed records. The result of both extremes is the rapid transformation of the motorcycle into a pile of scrap metal and another topic on the motorcycle forum in the style of “China is shit.” I won’t hide it, I thought so too, and was ready to desperately kick myself in the chest with my heel, proving that buying Chinese is the same as drinking vodka without pi... sorry, throwing money away. I haven’t understood Chinese philosophy yet.

Do you know why Chinese motorcycles cause disdainful “fuck” from owners of Chinese phones? An expensive modern bike is a thing that is very far from the concepts of practicality and utilitarianism, unlike the same teapot. But still, there are such teapot motorcycles. Therefore, they need to be assessed accordingly. You won’t demand a carbon body and the ability to connect a steam turbine from your kettle, will you?

An ordinary morning. It’s too early for the crowds of motorists rushing to work to disperse, but at the same time, too late for them to have time to get through the half-empty city before them. Anticipating a not-so-pleasant time among the canned cars stuck in traffic jams, I decided, as an experiment, to ride not on the usual KTM 990 Adventure, but on a tiny Lifan YK200, which looked like a starving donkey against the backdrop of the tall Austrian stallion.

The “Chinese” engine started from the first push on the starter button and began to warm up. Since the revs were a bit low, I turned the choke lever and... the engine stalled. Well, okay, get warm, I thought, not eager to deal with the carburetor. Finally, the single-cylinder 200 warmed up and ran more smoothly. The exhaust sound is quiet and indistinct, but without the annoying metallic notes that are present in most small-capacity vehicles with standard mufflers.

The landing triangle of the steering wheel-seat-footpegs is made according to the canons of road classics, and all the levers, paws and switches are where you would expect to see them. While my arms and legs were getting used to it, the “fifth point” reported that the seat was moderately soft and of the correct shape - I could coexist with this for quite a long time.

Thanks to the low seat height (790 mm) and modest weight (curb weight - 138 kg), the bike is suitable even for small people. But for riders whose height and weight are more than 180 cm and 80 kg, the motorcycle will seem like a children's bike...

The instrument panel looks simple, but provides all the necessary information, and even reports the number of the gear engaged. Thanks to the free layout of all indicators, one quick glance is enough to “read” all the data. The mirrors, on the contrary, aroused my distrust - while standing still, it seemed that, due to their complex shape, they were “cutting off” important sectors of the rear view.

Okay, let's go! A fair amount of time has passed since the test drive in China, so I had to get acquainted with the behavior of the motorcycle again. The first thing that was felt and pleasantly surprised was the reaction of the engine. This is a very common CG-series engine (163FML) in China, which is installed on every tenth Pepelats. In this case, it works in tandem with a carburetor, which is equipped with an accelerator pump** - this is rarely seen on a “civilian” budget motorcycle. Thanks to this, when the gas is opened sharply, there is no characteristic dip in thrust.

According to the passport, the engine should produce 16 hp. at 8000 rpm and 14 Nm at 6500 rpm. It seemed to me that such indicators were achieved earlier. In any case, the engine has good low-end thrust and a surprisingly juicy mid-range, but by 8000 rpm (and about 110 km/h), it begins to shake as if in an epileptic fit. When I first felt this, I gave up all attempts to check the maximum speed for fear that the motorcycle would crumble right on the road.

According to the manufacturer's description, the Lifan YK200 engine is equipped with a balancing shaft, which most successfully combats vibrations in the range of 4-6 thousand rpm (a subtle hint at the optimal operating mode of the engine), which corresponds to 50-80 km/h in fifth gear.

Having emerged from the half-empty streets of the residential area, I immediately dived into a long traffic jam. Thanks to its small width, short wheelbase and high steering angle, the bike is able to turn in a space of 2 meters and weave through cracks that I couldn’t squeeze through even if I wanted to, even on a KTM 690 SMC-R (whose anti-traffic capabilities I value as the highest ), not to mention Adventure left at home. As a result, I got to the final point of the route not in the usual 20 minutes, but in just 15!

As it turned out, I was wrong about the mirrors: they gave a sufficient idea of what was happening behind. True, when the engine spun up more than 6000 rpm, the picture “blurred” and became completely unreadable. Considering that they were an unnecessary fetish in a traffic jam, I tried to fold them... but the counter-nuts turned and the mirrors began to rotate freely, resembling two weather vanes. I had to unscrew them completely and throw them in my backpack.

If the rider has no more than 80 kilograms net, then the Lifan YK200 suspension will seem very comfortable to him. In any case, the bike handles chipped asphalt and smooth compacted dirt road with flying colors. You can only get a suspension breakdown by getting stuck in a hole broken by trucks or a hatch deeply sunk into the asphalt.

As for driving with a passenger, this is where the pain begins. Having put a girl weighing barely 50 kg on the tail, I felt the whole way how the rear suspension “folded” on every hole and bump. Therefore, if your 90-pound friend tearfully begs you to give him a ride on this bike, then be merciful to him and better shoot him right away.

However, if the rider rides “light,” then the YK200 allows you to take advantage of its low weight. Standing up a little on the footrests, you can sharply swing up and down, as if jumping. At this moment, the suspension is almost completely unloaded, and the motorcycle becomes capable of flying over areas where you wouldn’t go in your right mind without any consequences.

The handling of the motorcycle can be called bicycle-like - this is a hackneyed comparison, but it fits perfectly. The narrow standard tires played a positive role here. The bike shifts from turn to turn with the power of thought and in skillful hands is capable of performing miracles of maneuverability. True, the same comfortable suspension does not allow you to use the agility of the motorcycle 100%... Due to the lack of damping, the front fork sharply “pecks” during fast shifts. This is especially noticeable at low speeds. Therefore, I would recommend future owners of the Lifan YK200 to pour thicker oil into the fork. Although, I highly doubt that anyone will be so persistent in calculating the maneuverability limit of this technique.

As for the gearbox, this moment surprised me even during the test drive in China. The bike has a surprisingly soft and precise gearbox with moderate foot travel. With all due respect to the Yamaha YBR125 (which, by the way, is now not only assembled, but also manufactured in China), its gearbox compared to the gearbox of this “Chinese” is a bucket of bolts. In my memory, this is the first Chinese-made Pepelats for which I had no complaints regarding the gearbox! Even the gear ratios are chosen quite well. I would only add a sixth gear to the existing five - not that it is really needed... but on the highway it certainly would not hurt.

The braking system of the Lifan YK200 is typical for small budget bikes. This is a hydraulic front brake and a drum rear brake. At the front there is a two-piston “floating” caliper, working in tandem with a brake disc rigidly mounted on the wheel. I expected the system to work “sluggishly and weakly,” but, oddly enough, the front brake turned out to be quite effective and informative - the force of two fingers on the lever was enough in absolutely any situation. Of course, the low weight of the bike and the low speed limit (about 70-90 km/h) had a positive effect here. The rear “drum” also turned out to be very effective, but sometimes such a “voice” woke up in it that pedestrians on the sidewalks jumped in fear, and cars shied away from the wild creaking!

Having ridden this frivolous Chinese motorcycle around the city for half a season, I firmly decided that I wouldn’t get off it next season either. At least on daily city trips. And let my friends continue to twirl their fingers at their temples, proudly sitting on a dirt bike stuck in a traffic jam...

Our editorial stable is gradually replenished with test equipment, which we, without a twinge of conscience, have the right to drive head and shoulders, without worrying about new scratches on the plastic or broken parts of the body kit. It's time to talk about the Lifan YK200 (aka Alfamoto Apache). The fate of this bike was unusual. He spent half the season on the training ground of the Vschleme motorcycle school, stoically enduring the bullying of the students.

* We are talking about the author’s business trip to the Lifan plant in Chongqing. More details in MD No. 98.

** Serves to enrich the combustible mixture when the throttle valve is opened sharply. When the throttle valve is opened smoothly, the accelerator pump does not operate. It is considered an attribute of sports equipment. Now, during the massive transition to fuel injection systems, it can be seen in the carburetors of cross-country motorcycles.

Exploitation:

1. During the long stay of this motorcycle in the playful hands of the students of the Vshleme motorcycle school, a lot of interesting things became clear. The most pleasant thing was that after a little modification the motorcycle is not afraid of light falls. Only the steering wheel weights and footpeg brackets suffer, acquiring new scratches. During more serious falls, the bike reaches the asphalt with the headlight housing and rear plastic, but such contacts are limited to small scratches without compromising the integrity.

2. The most serious damage that the bike has received so far is the torn off aluminum plate for attaching the footpegs on the left side. The problem was solved using argon welding.

3. The stock tires didn’t inspire confidence in us at first, but they turned out to be quite good, providing good grip. In conditions of daily training on the site, it was enough for half a season. Moreover, it was mainly not the central part of the tread that was ground down, but the sidewalls.

4. Due to the presence of an accelerator pump and driving mainly in the city and on the training ground, the average fuel consumption on the Lifan YK200 was very different from the declared one and amounted to approximately 5 liters of 92 gasoline per 100 km.

5. The engine has two oil filters. The first is located under the drain cover and is made of metal mesh. It will prevent large pieces of anything from getting where they don't belong. The second is centrifugal, for fine cleaning. It is located under the right crankcase cover and must be periodically disassembled and cleaned. In total, this procedure takes longer than replacing a conventional oil filter. But you don’t have to look for and buy a new one every time.

6. The air filter is located under the right seat pad and is a piece of molded foam rubber. It comes from the factory dry and perfectly passes all the dust into the inside of the engine. Therefore, before starting operation, it must be moistened with special oil for air filters.

7. This engine performs well on regular automotive “semi-synthetic” with a viscosity of 10W-40. The main thing is that the canister does not indicate the presence of additives that reduce friction. As for the inevitable slipping and death of the clutch, as well as the entire engine as a whole, this is a common myth.
