Depending on your needs and desires, there is a wide range of motorcycles designed for everyone. From enduro to sports bikes, cruisers, touring bikes and even regular classic bikes.
Just like in the world of cars, in the world of bikes, some names echo high performance and design. One of them is MV Agusta, an Italian motorcycle manufacturer known for its stunningly beautiful motorcycles and racing history.
The company produces everything from supersports to naked bikes, as well as sport-touring motorcycles. The company was founded in 1945 by Giovanni Agusta, and since then it has flourished and grown into one of the biggest names in the motorcycle world.
Today the name MV Agusta competes in the World Superbike Championship. The three-cylinder Agusta F3 675 sportsbike stands out from the F3 800, Brutale, Brutale Dragster, Stradale, Turismo Veloce and Rivale.
One of the latest additions to the MV Agusta lineup is the 2021 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR.
Review of MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR
The MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR is a big step forward for the company compared to the Rosso trim. This bike gives you the full experience of riding an Italian motorcycle without the body kit. The Brutale 800 RR restored what was lost during the construction of the Rosso. While this bike has the same engine as its predecessor, the Brutale 800 RR has more power than the Rosso.
It is designed with aggressive angles that run throughout the exterior. The headlights of this beast are round with red highlights. Other great features of this bike include beautiful graphics on the fuel tank, split seat, pan and a beautiful gold triple exhaust. The moto comes in Shock Pearl Red, Carbon Black Metallic, Avio Gray Metallic and Avio Gray colours.
If you are an experienced biker and are looking for a quality naked bike, then the 2022 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR is what you need. This exotic mid-displacement motorcycle has a higher and better level of class and prestige compared to other motorcycles in the same category.
All things considered, it's no surprise that the 2022 MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR has a hefty starting price of $19,400. Buying this moto means that you are not only paying for the performance and looks, but also for the class it has.
The Brutale 800 RR is equipped with electronics to help you while you ride. These include, but are not limited to, eight traction control modes, Bosch ABS, four riding modes, a large TFT instrument panel and fully adjustable suspension.
Diffusion
It would seem that the MV Agusta Rivale largely consists of halftones, having absorbed the features of several classes of cars at once. However, in this motorcycle there is no hint of compromise and pastel colors of understatements. MV Agusta Rivale is a compact, tightly knit bundle of adrenaline, already in static conditions it makes the heart beat faster, and this vehicle drives exactly as it looks: assertively, hooligan-like and aggressive. Perhaps the operation of some of its electronic systems does not have the pedantry and precision of German motorcycles, but it is almost impossible to make any noticeable complaints about the operation of all components and systems of Rivale without slipping into the muttering of an old bore with an eternal song that now everything is not just like before. Although, indeed, now everything is not the same as in the past, and a pampered, fed to the point of hiccups, a spoiled buyer can now buy a motorcycle of any class or even a car at the junction of classes, a car of a different dimension, a new level of emotions and perception - MV Agusta Rivale.
Specifications and Dimensions
The 2022 Brutale 800 RR is powered by a 798cc inline three-cylinder engine. cm, 4-stroke engine and 12 valves. This engine has a maximum power output of 140 horsepower and 87 Nm.
The bore is (3.1" x 2.1"), the compression ratio is 13:3:1, and the timing system is DOHC, which comes with a standard mechanical chain tensioner and DLC pushrod. The starter is electric, the cooling system separates liquid and oil radiators.
Engine power is transferred to the transmission, which is equipped with a hydraulically actuated multi-plate wet clutch and a reverse torque limiter. The gearbox is a six-speed cassette type with constant mesh. Main gear - 16/41.
The overall length of the 2022 MV Agusta 800 RR is 204.5 cm, overall width is 87.5 cm, wheelbase is 140 cm, seat height is 83 cm and ground clearance is 13.5 cm. The dry weight of this motorcycle is 175 kg. These are great sizes for a compact sports car that you can drive every day.
WHEELIE FACTOR
Typically, on a motorcycle equipped with traction control, wheelie requires the electronics to be turned off. But in the case of the MV Agusta Rivale (as well as with the naked Brutale family), such manipulations are unnecessary: no matter what position the 8-level traction control is in, for the Rivale it makes no difference, and in the first three gears the front wheel can easily go into air! Moreover, in the case of the first two stages of the gearbox, this can happen against the will of the rider, simply due to intense acceleration. With a strong desire and sufficient experience of the pilot, the MV Agusta Rivale is capable of wheelie even in fourth gear! But this Italian dish is very spicy: despite the fact that engineers have “softened” the engine’s response to the movement of the throttle, riding in a wheelie (especially controlling the angle of the motorcycle in the air) is still a non-trivial task even for an experienced rider.
Review[edit]
First shown at the 2013 EICMA show in Milan, the Dragster was intended to be a more aggressive version of the naked Brutale. [1] Initial sales were good, with the model selling three times its 2014 forecast. [3]
Models have been updated for 2022. The engines have been updated to meet European Euro4 emissions standards. [5] The cycle parts were also changed, giving a 20 mm longer wheelbase and 8.5 mm longer trail. [6] Engine mounting points have been modified to provide greater torsional rigidity. [1]
Technical details[edit]
The 799 cc engine The CM, originally designed by Ezio Mascheroni and first installed on the F3 [7], uses a DOHC inline three-cylinder design with four valves per cylinder. A counter-rotating (reverse) crankshaft is used [8], which counteracts the centripetal forces of the wheels, allowing the bicycle to spin faster. [9] The hole and stroke are 79 mm and 54.3 mm. [1]
The engine is suspended on a tubular frame and is a stressed element. The machine has 43mm up-and-down Marzocchi forks, a Sachs rear shock, and a Brembo four-piston (front) and two-piston (rear) brake system. The wheels and swing arm are made of aluminum. Other aluminum parts include the frame plates and fork bridges. The car has a full set of electronics, including traction control, ABS and four driving modes [2]
Article review of the mv agusta 800 dragster motorcycle
MV Agusta 800 Dragster is 125 hp. pure power, short wheelbase and 165 kg weight. All the data makes this motorcycle a real gopnik. Because he, like a true bully from the gateway, will beat off the rider’s entire loin on the road, take away all his money for fuel and oil, and make him shake with fear when the biker cranks him up to the cutoff in the first three gears. And all because it will make you feel like you are about to fly out of the saddle. Let's figure out why this happens.
It has, as we have already said, a very short wheelbase, namely 1 meter 65 cm. Moreover, all of it is concentrated very high and closer to the front of the motorcycle. The rear part is completely unloaded. The engine is located very high, it has a high center of gravity, because the engineers at MV Agusta are experimenters by nature, and their sinister experiments consist of turning the engine in the opposite direction on this model. Because of these features, the bike's gearbox is located on top. This motorcycle Leaning Tower of Pisa is completed by a large tank, which, although made of plastic, also gives the structure additional weight. Below there is nothing except the exhaust pipe manifold. In order to somehow compensate for this advantage at the top, the Dragster was given a long narrow oil pan. What does such an unusual weight distribution give? When you start from a traffic light and press the gas to the floor, it turns out that there is no resistance to the steering wheel and it dangles in different directions. The smallest dynamic acceleration relieves the bike's front fork so much that steering seems weightless. At the same time, the model’s sliding mirrors turn the steering wheel into a real weather vane. What can engineers say in their defense? The motorcycle looks really cool! This is one of the most beautiful bikes in the world, especially when you look at it from afar. But when you come closer and touch its decorative elements, you will discover how “Chinese” everything is done in the bad sense of the word. Everything is flimsy, incomprehensible and dangling. There are a lot of gaps here, and all the drawn elements will be erased in literally six months. There are also a lot of screw connections in the most unexpected places that are extremely short-lived. When disassembling this device, you run the risk of simply not screwing back some screws. Every detail here is individual and carved strictly for him. The only thing that stands out from this ensemble is the rear steps, which look like they were made from an old water pipe. They do not fit at all into the image of the motorcycle, where the main monolithic footrest looks more than just beautiful. On the same MV Agusta Rivale, the rear steps are already monolithic, but why this model, which is the company’s top model, was equipped with outright hackwork remains a mystery.
Given the design, it may seem that this bike is designed to easily stand on the rear wheel. But due to the non-standard rear wing, this is inconvenient to do, because the plastic immediately bites into the asphalt. Therefore, you will raise the motorcycle a little, but you won’t be able to ride “in the candle”.
It is also worth saying that this is a single-seater motorcycle. Therefore, it is certainly possible to seat a second passenger, but both of you will regret it like hell later, especially if the trip is planned to be long. And if bad weather suddenly happens, then everyone who sits on this unit will be up to their ears in mud. At the same time, the landing itself is generally uncomfortable and seems to pinch the rider. At high speeds, you will have to lean heavily on the rear of the seat and hold the steering wheel as lightly as possible, because even the slightest shaking will end in catastrophic consequences.
A few words about the engine. Here is a motor from an MV Agusta F4 with a sawed-off cylinder. That is, it is a 3-cylinder engine with a power of 125 hp, which has quite good torque and produces its maximum at 12,650 rpm. The gearbox is 6-speed, semi-automatic, there is a quick-shift system, which does not work adequately at low speeds and has a bad effect on the entire condition of the gearbox. Because of this device, it is very difficult to feel the feedback from the throttle. In short, you need to get used to the nuances of this motorcycle in order to use it for a long time. The engine also has four operating modes: R – rain, S – highway (in this mode the bike consumes 13 liters per 100 km in the city and 8 liters on the highway), C – customizing (you can customize the operation of the engine yourself), N – neutral mode, the most adequate of all, when the throttle has good travel and you can “pile up” decently from a traffic light.
The clutch here is non-adjustable, cable-type and quite rigid. The on-board computer has a test that checks all control systems. The remote has a “set/ok” button, which also interacts with the computer, a button to turn on the engine and blink the high beams, which also resets the lap counter. There is also traction control. And if in the disabled state it allows you to drive as you want and does not interfere in any way with the operation of the bike, then even in the first mode it does not give the rider the opportunity to drift and grind, as a result the wheel slips and the speed drops. In mode 8, the traction control does not even allow you to stand on the rear wheel. Therefore, this device will be very useful for a beginner. The motorcycle has an ABS system that can be turned on and off at will. For fans of racing tracks, there are such parameters as “personal bests” and “lap times”. Just don't think that this model is for racing! Because, as we already mentioned at the beginning, the weight distribution here is absolutely wrong.
The MV Agusta 800 Dragster has Brembo brakes: front 320 discs, floating, rear 220 disc, also floating. There is a cantilever pendulum system. Everything here is done using high technology. In this motorcycle they tried to combine hi-tech and sexuality, but completely forgot about convenience. Such happiness costs around 800 thousand rubles.
Model options[edit]
Dragster 800 [edit]
Introduced in 2014 as the Brutale Dragster 800
, the car was based on
the Brutale 800
. The rear end has been redesigned to accommodate the larger 200/50ZR17 tire. [2]
Dragster 800 RR [edit]
Dragster 800 rubles
, introduced in 2015, is a more powerful version of
the Dragster 800
. Modifications to the intake and exhaust system increased power output by 15 hp. up to 140 (104 kW) hp at 13,100 rpm. A quickshifter was installed to the gearbox, which made it possible to shift both up and down without a clutch. The suspension was made stiffer and spoked wheels were installed. [3]
Dragster 800 RR SCS [edit]
The Dragster 800 RR has been further enhanced in 2022 with the addition of the SCS 2.0 Intelligent Clutch System and is designated Dragster 800 RR SCS
.
[10] The SCS 2.0 system, which was first installed on the Turismo Veloce in 2022, [11] allows the driver to use the clutch in a conventional manner using a lever, or simply let the system operate the clutch. [12] The system is based on the Rekluse clutch
, which allows the driver to engage the gear when changing gears without using the clutch. As soon as the throttle valve opens, the clutch is engaged. The MV system adds electronic control that optimizes clutch engagement depending on engine speed and throttle position [9].during upshifts and downshifts. The SCS system weighs only 36g more than a conventional clutch. [12]
