Very often the reason that the engine does not start is the lack of a spark at the spark plug. This is diagnosed very simply:
- you need to unscrew the spark plug from the engine (or take a spare one),
- put a candle cap on it,
- turn on the ignition,
- press the spark plug to ground
- crank the engine with the starter, or better yet, with the kickstarter.
If a spark does not jump between the electrodes of the spark plug, the engine will not start.
But fortunately, the ignition system on Alpha mopeds is quite simple and you can find the fault on your own.
I always try to follow the principle “from simple to complex” when troubleshooting. That is, before disassembling half of the moped, you need to try to check everything that is easy and cheap to check.
First, remember what preceded the malfunction: some work may have been carried out or there may have been mechanical damage (for example, the moped fell). If something like this happened, start troubleshooting from there. There is a high probability that upon inspection you will find a broken wire, damaged insulation, a damaged connector, or something else.
Be sure to try cranking the engine with a kickstarter; it happens that the starter turns too slowly and there is no spark.
Why is there no spark on the moped?
How to check spark on a moped?
To check the spark you need to turn the key in the ignition. Next, take out the spark plug and check if there is a spark. In order to check the spark on the spark plug, you need:
- Remove the cap and unscrew the spark plug. Pay attention to the candle itself, or rather to its black soot; often, if it becomes dense, then it becomes a conductor, i.e. you don't get a spark, but it hits the insulator.
- Next, insert the unscrewed spark plug into the cap (holding only the cap) and lean it against any metal part of your moped.
- Next, we begin to crank the foot starter and carefully look at the electrodes on the spark plug to see if a spark will jump between them. If suddenly there is no spark in the spark plug, then it may be that the spark plug is broken, i.e. the spark occurs in the wrong place. How can I check this?
We take the cap, there is a metal electrode inside it, insert a screwdriver into it and bring it as close as possible to the metal part of the moped (hold only the insulated parts). And we also press the kick starter, you should hear clicks and see the action. If a spark jumped between the screwdriver and the engine, but there was no spark in the spark plug, then you just need to change the spark plug. If there is also no spark, then you need to inspect the armored wire. Are there any cracks on it? If there are cracks, then it is breaking through. This is easy to check.
- Take the foil and bring it to the crack.
- We press one part of the foil to the frame and hit the kick starter.
- If a spark occurs, you may even be able to hear it. This means the armored wire is breaking through.
The next problem may be the ignition coil. If your ignition coil is broken, naturally there will be no spark; it may be broken inside. There is only one way to check this. This is to remove the coil and install a new one or ask a friend. If still nothing works, then everything is fine with the coil. The switch is responsible for supplying voltage to the ignition coil. How to check the condition of the switch. If you have an acelogrof, then connect it to the output contacts of the commutator and see if there are impulses; if there are none, then the commutator does not give them. If there is no acelogrof, then you need to remove the old switch and install another one and check it. Another ignition problem is with the alternator. The rotor generator has a magnet and a coil; 4 wires come from the coil. Next, you will need a multimeter; you cannot do without it. Put the multimeter in AC voltage measurement mode, go to the wire that powers the switch (this is on the diagram of your moped). After this, crank the kick starter and see if there is voltage, if there is, then everything is in order. But if there is still no spark, then pay attention to the hall sensor, because it is this that gives the commutator an impulse. You can also check it with an acelogr to see if there are any pulses or check with a light bulb; we connect a light bulb to the output of the switch if you have power to the switch. The switch is known to be working, but the light does not blink, then there is something wrong with the hall sensor.

Leave it to mechanics or install electronics
Perhaps not all older motorcycle models are running. The Ural motorcycle sits and rusts in my grandfather’s barn because it won’t start. The wheels are spinning, the engine is not jammed. Maybe the spark goes into the ground, as they say. In short, you need to look at the spark generation system. But even a working motorcycle, with a contact ignition system, causes unexpected and unpleasant problems for its owner:
- won't start when you really need it;
- with new oil rings in the engine, the spark plugs become covered with soot;
- there is no required engine power when driving with maximum load;
- the maximum speed is not reached;
- The battery is slightly discharged and the engine does not start.
The contact ignition system creates a lot of problems, especially when the moving parts in it have already worn out, backlash has appeared, and the geometry of the elements has changed.
The solution is simple - all cam ignition is thrown out, a modern electronic non-contact type spark generation system is installed. You will no longer have to deal with the thankless task of cleaning contacts and endlessly adjusting the gaps in the breaker. All this is possible thanks to the simple, but quite reliable design of the motorcycle. For example, it is quite easy to set the thermal gap and adjust the valves in the Urals with your own hands, using only your own tools from the garage. This way you will gain valuable experience and save money on visiting the workshop.
The third reason is the generator
If after replacing the ignition coil and switch the spark does not appear, then we check the generator. Here we need a multimeter. We set the device to the diode position, remove the generator chip and begin the test. Two wires are responsible for the spark:
- blue with a white stripe is a hall sensor;
- black with a red stripe is the coil on the generator.
Generator chip Check the hall sensor.
We connect the probe from the device to the blue wire with a white stripe. And we connect the other probe to engine ground. Numbers should appear on the device, indicating that the hall sensor is working. We do the same work with the coil on the generator. If the numbers are displayed on the device, then the coil on the generator is working. If nothing happens on the device, then you will have to change the generator or hall sensor.
Generator and ignition sensor
You can check the generator and sensor without removing them from the engine.
We switch the tester to the AC measurement mode for the 2V range or, if your tester has such an option, for 200mV. With one probe we touch any metal part of the scooter or engine, with the other probe we touch the sensor wire (in the picture above it is labeled as a Hall sensor, but in fact it is an inductive ignition sensor). We turn the engine with the starter and look at the multimeter display. If the numbers are flashing on the display, it means the sensor is generating a signal and everything is fine with it. Otherwise, the sensor is faulty or the wire is broken.
If you know easier ways to check or something is not described in sufficient detail, write in the comments. I will be glad to improve the article based on your feedback.
Basic repair methods
The generator produces the spark, so the first thing you should do is inspect it: check the integrity of all wires and contacts that are adjacent to the generator. Then carry out diagnostics of condensates. Sometimes a spark may not appear due to mechanical damage on the generator, so it is worth carefully examining its winding. If there is a serious defect, it is better not to repair it, but simply replace it with a new part.
Quite often, a spark does not occur due to a malfunction of the spark plugs, which are consumables that regularly fail. For this reason, it is worth checking these elements for damage. Pay special attention to the color of the candle - it should be clean and without any soot. If the spark plugs are broken, they should be replaced.
Breaks in electrical wiring
This happens very often, especially on Chinese-made scooters. Here, wire breaks in the ignition system are possible.
The reason may also be oxidized contacts and terminals. Do-it-yourself scooter repair, in this case, consists of checking the integrity of all wires in the ignition system. Also pay attention to the terminals. If the contacts are oxidized or do not hold tightly, then they should be cleaned and tightened. It would be a good idea to check the wire that comes from the switch. You need to make sure the connection is secure and the terminal is clean.
There is no spark on the moped - what to do?
Failure of a motorcycle ignition system can be caused by a variety of reasons, ranging from small and insignificant to serious ones requiring major repairs of the vehicle. Fortunately, bikes are technologically relatively simple (compared to cars) and you can fix the breakdown yourself. Very often, the reason for the incorrect operation of the ignition system is that there is simply no spark on the motorcycle. In this case, it is necessary to accurately identify the part or assembly that led to the breakdown.
- Spark Plug Inspection
If there is no spark on a moped or motorcycle, first of all, you need to check the serviceability of the spark plug . It should not be excessively dirty and be of a natural color. If the motorcycle owner has a 100% serviceable spark plug on hand, then test the operation of the ignition system with its help.
How to check the spark?
First make sure there really is no spark. To do this, you need to unscrew the spark plug and turn it with the contact into the cap. The housing must be on ground (cylinder). The housing must be in firm contact with the metal. Otherwise, the motorcycle's electrical components may be damaged. Only touch isolated parts. It is advisable to carry out the work in dry rubberized gloves that will not conduct current.
Even easier - put a new candle. If the ignition fires, then the problem has been found. Otherwise, you will have to look further for the reason.
Ignition coil
If everything looks intact, check the ignition coil. To do this, disconnect it (remembering how the wires are connected) and use a multimeter to check the resistance of the windings.

The primary winding is made of thicker copper wire. Its terminals are connected to two terminal connectors at the end of the coil. It has a small number of turns and therefore its resistance is low, approximately 0.5-5 Ohms. One wire of the coil is connected to ground - you need to check it, attach one multimeter probe to the nearest metal part of the moped, and the second to the coil connector. The resistance should be close to zero.
The high-voltage coil consists of several thousand turns of very thin copper wire, so its resistance should be on the order of 2-5 kOhms. The resistance must be measured between the coil contact connected to ground and the core of the high-voltage wire.
In this way, we will check the coil for a break, but without special equipment we cannot check for other coil faults, for example, an interturn short circuit, so we will leave the coil alone for now, also because a coil without visible mechanical damage is most likely working.
Breaks in the spark plug cap
This reason can also be considered simple. If there is no spark on the scooter, you should remove the cap and then check its resistance level. After disconnecting the cap from the wire, take measurements. The multimeter probe is inserted into the spark plug hole. The other is attached to the pin that the wires go to. If the cap is working properly, the multimeter will show about 5 kOhm. On most modern scooters, the high-voltage wires, spark plug cap and ignition coil are made one-piece.
All these parts are filled with rubber or compound. Therefore, you can test the cap, wire and ignition coil as a whole. One of the probes of the device is inserted into the spark plug hole on the cap. The second is connected to the ignition coil. This is how the resistance on the primary and secondary windings and the high-voltage wire itself are revealed. The reading on the primary winding should be between 0.1 ohm and 0.4 ohm.
Secondary resistance ranges from 6.35 ohms to 9.7 ohms on most scooters. Sometimes a high-voltage wire becomes unusable. To replace it, you need a cable with a metal core. A car part with carbon filler is not suitable for this procedure.
Why the moped won’t start: three main reasons and testing method:
I have this situation. The moped does not start, everything seems to be fine. There is a spark, gasoline flows, but when you unscrew the spark plug, it is in gasoline, you unscrew it back and the same thing happens. The moped seems to be trying to start, but something is preventing it from starting. Compression is normal. Please help me. I haven’t been able to start my moped for half a year now.
The first thing to do is replace the spark plug with a new, dry and known good one. The second thing is to replace the gasoline with fresh one: completely drain the old one from the tank and from the carburetor, and then fill it with new one from a good gas station (preferably not the one where you last refueled). During a cold start, the air damper must be closed. If after this there is no improvement, then most likely the problem is in the carburetor. Perhaps the fuel level in the float chamber is too high and excess gasoline flows into the combustion chamber and floods the spark plug. If the carburetor has a fitting for draining condensate, you can put a transparent tube on the fitting, lift it up and unscrew the drain screw. The gas valve on the tank must be open. Gasoline, according to the principle of communicating vessels, will rise in a transparent tube to the same level as in the carburetor. The level should not be higher than the gasket between the carburetor halves (upper and lower). If the level in the carburetor is normal, there is a (small) chance that the flywheel has turned on the crankshaft. Although there is a spark, it’s not at that moment. The simplest thing to check is with a strobe light at the marks on the flywheel. Or remove the flywheel with a puller and put it on again. Good luck with the renovation!
It's difficult to start, it runs for about 30 seconds and stalls, but if you give it gas it dies right away. New piston with all accessories
If it doesn't start after replacing the piston, the first thing I would check is the compression. If there is no compression with the new piston, it means there was a mistake during assembly: either the camshaft is set incorrectly, or the compression ring is broken, perhaps the valve clearances are not set. Apparently, everything is in order with your ignition system and fuel is flowing, since the moped still starts. You can also check the carburetor, but if you didn’t mess with it during repairs, most likely everything is fine with it. You can also check if there is any air leakage after the carburetor; perhaps the gasket is broken somewhere.
I have this situation, I was riding a moped and it suddenly stalled. Afterwards, attempts to start it with an electric starter were unsuccessful. The next attempt was to start the kick starter, the result was the same. The engine doesn't turn over at all. All electrical equipment works (except for the electric starter). Help, what to do?
In the article I gave the order of actions that need to be performed to understand the reason. Without doing all this, you can only guess what the reason is.
Hello! Same problem. I did the steps described, but there is still no spark!
And she shouldn't appear. All actions are described here to understand the reason. There is no spark - this is the reason that the moped does not start. This means you need to check the ignition system: spark plug, coil, high-voltage wire, switch, generator, ignition switch and other wiring. If it was working and working and suddenly stopped, I would first ring the generator, maybe a wire has broken there.
Tell me what to do please. From the beginning there was no spark, I did a lot of work, replaced the generator, spark plug, switch, ignition relay, everything new. It started, but the carburetor started firing, drove it in the evening and left it overnight, couldn’t start in the morning, the carburetor fires and won’t let it start, gasoline comes in, the spark plug is black as coal (but I cleaned it and put it back in). After all these shots, I cleaned the carburetor inside and out, but to no avail. There is a nuance, the moped stood for a week without a candle on the street but was covered, maybe dirt got in or something else, I don’t know which direction to move. Tell me what to do please, thanks in advance. Moped Alpha zw50q2
The first thing I would check is whether the marks on the gas distribution mechanism match and whether the valves are jammed (I wrote out the instructions for adjusting the valves in detail). If possible, check the compression. Perhaps the intake valve is not sealing tightly and gases are shooting into the carburetor. You can also try replacing the gasoline with fresh gasoline from a good gas station. If the flywheel (generator rotor) was removed, you need to check that it is installed correctly, i.e. remove and reinstall along the guide key. If all this does not help, the problem is in the carburetor. Check the fuel level in the carburetor. Well, adjust the composition of the mixture at idle.
Why won't it start, the pipe is leaking, what's the problem?
This is interesting: Never leave these things in the car in the summer
If it shoots at the muffler, then you need to check that the valve clearance is set correctly. Instructions here. Perhaps there are simply no gaps and the exhaust valve does not close. And when checking the gaps, you also need to check the coincidence of the marks on the flywheel and the sprockets of the head.
I have a Karpaty moped, everything is new. It won’t start without starting, and not with the starter, and the piston cylinder block (so healthy gray) has one of its ribs broken, could this be a problem in starting?
No, broken cooling fins should not be the reason why the engine will not start.

hello, I hope you can help me, I changed the central wiring on the alpha moped, I also changed the spark plug in the place with the armor wire and I have no sparks and the current doesn’t flow anywhere except from the ignition coil and that’s all what could be the reason
damn what to do please tell me I was riding an alpha 71kb moped and it started to stall and stalled and would not start again and I changed the spark plug and cleaned the corberator and it still did not start. And when you start it with your foot, sometimes it can shoot out of the pipe. Please tell me how to make a moped
Dmitry If the carburetor is in order and there is a spark, but the moped does not start, look at the valve head.
I can't start, can you help me?)
Why the hell are there extraneous sounds on the video, and so essentially nothing is said, so there are also extraneous sounds on the video.
Thank you very much helped

Hello everyone, take a look at my channel, I make different videos
Please give me some advice on why the Alpha moped does not have a spark, but it starts and there is a spark from the foot, the starter is spinning.

Where are you, I'll get you a motorcycle
Hello, how much does it cost to put a step on an Alfa moped?
Hello, I wanted to ask you, so I bought a 50 cc engine from an Alpha or Delta! And what do I need to buy to start it, what kind of wiring, so that it just starts from the kickstarter, basically from the stand!
Hello, I have such a problem. In the left cover, the coil was screwed onto 2 bolts, it turned out that 1 bolt was unscrewed and broke inside, there is a small hole on the magnet. I replaced the generator coil, ignition coil, and switch. Still no spark. Don't know what the problem is?
Denis, I have a spark, but it’s weak (it seems so to me). When starting with electric ignition, there is no such a confident sound (grinding), but a barely audible scrolling of the coil. What could this be?
Please tell me why there is no spark at the spark plug? I replaced the ignition coil, switch, and generator with new ones, still no =(.
I have the same problem((
Most likely the central wire (which fits the spark plug) needs to be replaced.
I have the same problem
Hello, I have a Trophy moped, such a problem happened when I turn on the turn signals they don’t blink and the dashboard doesn’t show that they are working either, what’s the matter, did I change the turn signals, maybe something wrong with the electronics?
+Denis Valerievich Thank you!
Most likely the turn signal relay has failed.
What about licenses for mopeds, are they already issued? Who knows what?
Andrey Samunin From the age of 16 you can take category A1 (up to 125 cubic meters) and category M (up to 50 cubic meters), and category A (No restrictions) from the age of 18.

Do the spare parts from this site come normally and how long does it take to wait?
Hello, please tell me the website of the online store from which you order spare parts
+Denis Valerievich Thank you very much
Denis Valerievich, I didn’t drive all summer, because of a non-working spark plug, and as luck would have it, I bought new ones, but as it turned out, they weren’t working and they were fucked all summer, when it dawned on me to check the spark plugs themselves, they turned out to be pierced into the body, and there were NJK candles, although they weren’t expensive, I thought that this wouldn’t particularly affect their performance, but it turned out that it did.
+Denis Valerievich, apparently he didn’t know that it wasn’t working, so I already bought three candles and everything from one batch turned out to be bad, later I read similar cases with exactly the same candles that I bought. At first there was no spark at all on the new spark plug, after prolonged attempts to get a spark, it eventually made its way, and soon disappeared without a trace after a short period of work.
It happens that a spark plug and a new one don’t work; I’ve come across some of these. But there weren’t new ones in stock, and I don’t understand why I should carry a spark plug that doesn’t work with me)).
Checking the spark plug for serviceability
First of all, to determine the serviceability of a spark plug, know where to find it. As a rule, to do this you need to remove the plastic, for this you need to have a screwdriver. Let's assume that there are no problems with this, let's move on to the reason. The first and main check of the condition of a candle is its appearance. It should look working and in good working order, this is not difficult to determine. Minor soot is allowed. But if the spark plug is melted or black, then it is clear that it is faulty and the spark cannot flow.
To determine the cause of carbon deposits on spark plugs, you need to determine whether it is wet or dry? Has the candle turned black on one side or all at once? The answers to these questions will give you the direction in which you need to “dig.” You can find out why candles turn black here.
Power check
In order for a spark to jump between the spark plug electrodes, the commutator capacitor must be charged from something. And it is charged either from a battery or from a generator. Means what? Right! We check whether power is supplied to the switch.
Before you start measuring power, let’s determine what type of switch is on your scooter. Visually, switches of the DC CDI type are twice as large as AC CDI. But this is not an exact criterion. The most accurate criterion is to look at the output of the high-voltage coil of the generator:
- If it is not activated, it means that your scooter is equipped with a DC CDI type switch
- If enabled, then vice versa - your scooter is equipped with an AC CDI type switch
The output of the high-voltage coil of the generator is located in the same place as the output of the generator itself: we are looking for where the wires coming from the generator are connected to the on-board network of the scooter and if one of the two wires with round terminals is not connected, then the coil is not activated
The second reason if there is no spark on the Alpha moped is the ignition coil, or switch
Checking the switch
The switch is in an accessible location. You just need to remove the right side decorative cover on the moped. Disconnect the switch from the wires and check with a multimeter. If such a device is not available, then we go to the store and buy a new switch. Fortunately, it costs a couple of hundred rubles.
Similar actions with the ignition coil.
Ignition coil (Bobbin)
Briefly about the contactless ignition system
The contactless system, installed on all vehicles, includes:
- modulator i.e. Converter of magnetic flux into electrical impulses;
- magnetic flux sensors (for example, a Hall sensor);
- an ignition coil, slightly different in design from the traditional one;
- switch that distributes sparking;
- switching wires, terminals, fasteners.
The operating principle of a contactless ignition system is not complicated. A rotating plate mounted on the shaft, with its petals, opens and closes the path of magnetic flux (the magnetic field is formed by an installed magnet), which fixes the Hall sensor.
How to make an ATV from the Urals - this article will certainly be of interest to lovers of boxer engines and creators of real garage monsters.
These field breaks depend on the position of the distributor shaft. A pulse from a Hall sensor (or a similar one) occurs at a certain moment when the piston is at the required point for sparking. Next, instantly, the impulse is transmitted to the switch and to the ignition coil. The result is the formation of a spark in the spark plugs.
To mount the ignition system on a motorcycle, you need to either make its individual elements (modulator, plate) with your own hands, or purchase ready-made ESZ kits such as Saruman or Sovek.
Electronic ignition systems from Sovek and Saruman, equipment, features and differences.
If you don’t want to make electronic ignition elements for your Ural motorcycle yourself, you can purchase a kit ready for installation. Advantages of ready-made ignition systems:
- manufacturing takes place in a factory;
- the technical control procedure does not involve checking individual elements, but testing the performance of the entire system as a whole;
The most common and available for purchase are sez produced by SoveK and Saruman.
1. "Saruman". The package includes two options - with an optical sensor or with a Hall sensor. Any configuration includes an ignition unit, a platform for installing a sensor, a modulator with a flow interruption curtain, installation wires and installation instructions.
Features of the Saruman set:
- separate ignition timing generator (IAF);
- built-in system protection against generator overvoltage;
- LED indication to facilitate ignition setting
- microprocessor firmware is made for a specific motorcycle model;
- waterproof, locking connectors;
2. "SoveK". Several ignition system options are available. Microprocessor type and regular contactless.
The configuration can be with or without an ignition coil. Includes an ignition module, a modulator, and a switch with built-in FUOS.
Technical features of the Sovek kit:
- microprocessor module can work with various ignition coils;
- sparking is ensured both at low (6 volts) and at high voltage (16 volts) in the on-board network.
Features of electrical equipment
Unlike domestic motorcycles and mopeds, Alpha
already in the basic version it has a number of advantages:
- Electronic 12V ignition;
- Electric starter;
- Electronic tachometer on the instrument panel.

Alfa moped switch
In this part of the article, we will look at the pinout feature of the switch for the Alpha moped (and, to boot, the Delta), and also find out the purpose of each wire. All information is presented in the diagram below.
It is noteworthy that the same switches can be installed on mopeds of various brands of Chinese production, since there are a lot of Alpha clones.
As we can see, the pinout of this switch is very simple.
Pinout
- Black and yellow wire 1
goes to the ignition coil. - Black-red wire 2
is responsible for power. - Contact 3
is missing in principle. - Black and white wire 4
is responsible for turning off the engine and goes to the ignition switch. - Blue-white pin 5
goes to the Hall sensor. - The last, green pin 6
is ground.
Alfa moped wiring diagram : features of domestic operation
With the development of trade relations between Russia and China, in addition to traditional knitted goods and consumer electronics, various auto and motorcycle equipment began to be imported en masse to our country. And since the domestic motorcycle industry was experiencing a decline, the new items were to the taste of motorcyclists and began to be purchased en masse for their own needs.
Classic look of the Alpha
Of particular interest is the ALPHA moped with an air-cooled engine, which is sold in the Russian Federation as “ Alpha”
110cc" or " Alpha"
49". The numbers in the name indicate the engine displacement:
- 49 cc four-stroke air-cooled engine. cm, power 4.5 hp;
- 110 cc four-stroke air-cooled engine. cm, power 7 hp.
Mopeds, due to their external resemblance to motorcycles, differ from scooters, although they represent a separate class. However, the combination of technical parameters, ease of do-it-yourself maintenance and low operating cost have made this moped a sales leader on the Russian motorcycle market.
For reference: in China, several manufacturers assemble the ALPHA model. Among them are Horse, Chong Qing Bull, WONJAN, Omaks and a number of others. Companies such as AVM and SMoto also assemble mopeds in Russia. At the same time, the wiring diagram of the Alpha is identical, regardless of the location of assembly.
If the moped is not
Sometimes it happens that the moped does not want to start after several hours of inactivity. However, after warming up, it works and starts stably. Let's figure out why this happens.
When the engine is cold, all clearances (in the piston, in the valves, etc.) are far from ideal. Plus, when fuel gets on cold engine parts, it evaporates worse and therefore ignites worse. Because of this, during a cold start the engine needs a richer mixture than usual. It is for this purpose that devices are made on carburetor engines to enrich the mixture at start-up.
On the Alpha moped (and similar ones), an air damper is installed. It reduces the air flow and thereby enriches the working mixture. The damper has two positions: “closed” - the lever is raised up, “open” - the lever is lowered down. When starting “on a cold” air damper must be closed (lift the lever up) . When the engine runs for a while with the throttle closed, it needs to be opened. Driving with the throttle closed will lead to increased fuel consumption and the formation of carbon deposits on the spark plug and piston.
What to do if a cold moped does not start even with the throttle closed? Try using a syringe to fill in 5-7 ml. gasoline directly into the carburetor inlet pipe. If the moped starts after this, then the carburetor needs to be adjusted. If it doesn’t start, check the spark and compression (see above).
Spark plug, high-voltage wire, tip
Next on the list is the spark plug. It happens that an apparently serviceable spark plug does not work, so it is better to immediately replace the spark plug with a known serviceable one. Even if the spark plug was in good working order, it’s okay, spark plugs are “consumables”.
Be sure to take a spark plug recommended by the moped manufacturer, or its complete analogue, selected from the catalog. Do not listen to “experts” who recommend non-standard spark plugs, for example, with an increased gap or three electrodes.
If the spark plug is working but there is no spark, check the tip of the spark plug and the high-voltage wire. There should be no mechanical damage or cracks on them.

After unscrewing the screws, remove the windings and sensor and inspect for damage.
You can measure the resistance of the components and compare it with the recommended one without removing the cover. Remember, as a rule, the control unit receives a signal both from the sensor and from its winding, distributed over the stator power windings. Therefore, it can operate regardless of the functionality of the main power system (the engine can be started even without a battery). [email protected] what to do?!
Unscrew the high-voltage cap and place the end of this wire against the nearest bolt or metal of the moped, that is, against ground.

Mopeds and scooters made in China are now very popular. The main reason for this is, of course, the low price. However, in terms of quality, this equipment is much inferior to models produced in Japan, and therefore it breaks down much more often. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly inspect Chinese mopeds in order to identify faults in their infancy and eliminate them as quickly as possible.
However, it is sometimes impossible to foresee everything, which is why owners of Alpha motorcycles often have to face the problem when their mopeds cannot be started. There is no spark on the alpha moped; it is this malfunction that causes the vehicle to not start. You can read more about this on the information portal, but we will give only a few ways to fix this problem.
Most of the reasons for this malfunction are very trivial and associated with minor breakdowns. However, if even after eliminating them you cannot start the moped, then you will have to either completely rebuild it or turn to specialists for help.
conclusions
From the article you learned why there is no spark on a 4t scooter and the reasons for such a malfunction. The cost of repair work may vary depending on the cost of the parts, but it is always more profitable to do the work yourself. And now you know what to do if the spark suddenly disappears; what to pay attention to. Be careful when troubleshooting, pay attention to details, refer to reference books for accurate data. Only if all conditions are met will you succeed!
The scooter today is a very relevant, popular, convenient and practical means of transportation for people of various age categories. For many, this technique is the only means of transportation, while for others it serves as a device for riding and entertainment. In any case, every Chinese or Japanese 4-stroke scooter may have problems, both mechanical and electronic. Today, various electronic problems often occur on scooters. Since modern technology has many built-in electronic systems, some of them may malfunction, which in most cases can be fixed on your own without visiting a workshop, where you will have to pay the craftsmen sometimes a large sum for repairs. To save money and time, it is better to service your scooter yourself. So, what should you do if there is no spark on your 4T scooter?
First you need to determine the reason why the spark disappeared. The first thing you should check is the spark plug, since this part fails for various reasons, and in order to avoid trivial problems that can be corrected in a couple of minutes, you need to replace the spark plug with another one.
If after replacement there is still no spark, you need to “dig” further. Now let's examine the wiring, which is responsible for power supply and spark generation. It quite often happens that when shaking on potholes, the wires become disconnected at the connections, and of course such a break will lead to the fact that not only will the spark disappear on the scooter, but other electrical appliances may not work. If you find a disconnected wire lying aimlessly on the frame or under the trim, then you should definitely find its true purpose; in all likelihood, it is this wire that can cause the lack of spark. It is also worth checking the components and boards that produce the spark; as a rule, they are not repaired, but replaced with new ones or high-quality used parts taken from disassembly.
There are cases when the spark on a 4t scooter sometimes disappears, how can you find and fix the breakdown with such symptoms? If the spark disappears from time to time, then you need to check the reliability of the contacts and examine the tightness of the wiring. If any connection that is responsible for supplying current to the spark supply unit has poor contact or moisture gets in, the spark will be supplied unstably, and at times may disappear altogether. To eliminate this problem, you should check the electrical wiring, thoroughly clean and insulate all connectors so that the contact is reliable and sealed. You can use electrical tape and sealant for this.
If you were driving and suddenly the spark on your 4T scooter disappeared on the road, what should you do in this case? Of course, you can simply pick up and tow the scooter to a service station, or fix the problem yourself, right on the road. You won’t have to disassemble much; it’s enough to remove the main part of the cladding to see the wires that feed the spark supply unit.
Some scooter models have protection against short circuits, so it's worth finding the fuse box and checking for any blown fuses. If you find a melted one and you don’t have a replacement, you can use foil or one strand of thin copper wire.
Sometimes it happens when a very weak spark on a 4t scooter leads to deterioration in engine performance, difficulties appear when starting, and when cold the scooter does not want to start at all. In this case, you need to check the main board, where the current pulse and the high-voltage coil are produced. Most motorcycle owners, as a rule, simply replace these parts and if the problem disappears, then they leave everything as is and ride until something fails again. Practice shows that this is the most effective and fastest way to eliminate such a breakdown as a weak spark.
Very often, foreign technology fails domestic motorcycle enthusiasts, who often encounter a problem when there is no spark on a 4T scooter from China, and many people don’t know what to do in this case. But in reality, everything is not so complicated, it is enough to change the main parts responsible for supplying the spark, check the wiring and the problem will be solved very quickly, the main thing is to be assertive and a little patience to find and fix the problem of the Chinese scooter.
If you don’t know why the spark disappeared on a 4t scooter, then you should dig a little deeper into the “insides” of your scooter, and you will definitely find the reason, which can only be hidden in the wiring and components responsible for creating the spark. In the case when there is no spark on a Chinese 4t scooter, you don’t need to immediately go to the station where you can be ripped off, it’s better to understand the system yourself and you should definitely enjoy the process of finding the problem and fixing it, and then you will be proud of the repaired equipment. Now you know when a bad spark occurs on a 4t scooter, what to do in such cases. The main thing in repair is to focus on the design of the system, understand its operating principle, and then the problem will become clear as two times two.

The reason that there is no spark on the scooter can be due to several malfunctions. In this article we will look at how to find them, where to start searching and what to do next.
First, let's understand that the lack of spark on a 2t or 4t scooter has almost identical reasons.
The main reasons for poor engine performance
So, for stable operation of the engine, three conditions are needed:
- The presence of a spark on the spark plug electrodes at the right moment.
- The presence of the “correct” working mixture in the combustion chamber.
- The presence of “compression”, that is, a working cylinder-piston pair and properly functioning valves.
You should always check using the “from simple to complex” . If the moped was working like a clock just yesterday, but today it refuses to start, remember what happened to it during this period of time. Maybe you made changes to the electrical circuit, or adjusted the carburetor, or washed the moped, or did some other work - sometimes this helps to localize the fault. If possible, return everything back.
Before starting the test, carefully inspect the moped. You may notice a torn or exposed wire or some other small thing. Sometimes this helps a lot.
Condition of the spark plug and its malfunction
The simplest way is external verification. If it has a normal color and looks natural, the part is most likely working. Signs of use such as erosion and sediment from long-term use are acceptable. When a vehicle's fuel mixture becomes too rich, the result affects not only the engine, but primarily the spark plug itself. Thus, black dry deposits appear in some areas. , as well as replacing the air filter, will help correct the situation Do not use a dirty or damaged spark plug, otherwise the engine will not operate properly and will soon need repairs. This is one of the reasons that answers the question of why there is no spark on the scooter ?
There have also been many cases when the wrong amount of oil entered the engine, which contributed to the contamination of the spark plug. It is easy to distinguish carbon deposits from oil contamination; examples are in the photo. And according to statistics, such malfunctions occur precisely with 2t scooters that have an oil pump. Immediately replace the spark plug in the oil with a new one.
Switch
To check the switch, we need a test lamp - this is a regular 12-volt light bulb with wires routed out for easy connection. A test light and connect one end to the ground wire, the other to the ignition coil wire. We turn the engine with the starter.
If the light comes on, the switch and its wiring are working properly. If the light does not light, then the switch or switch wiring is faulty. In order to be 100% sure that the problem is not with the switch, I recommend replacing it with a known good one. A switch for Chinese mopeds is inexpensive, if it suddenly turns out that the old switch is working, let it remain in “stock” until the next check.
