Design and main technical characteristics of Bajaj Dominar 400 2019
Looking from afar, the silhouette of the 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400 remains the same. Up close, some changes are still noticeable - the headlamp has become visually smaller, although the overall design and shape remains the same, the tail lamps have also been updated, giving them a fresh look while maintaining the signature design of the Bajaj Dominar 400.
The motorcycle received an inverted fork with a diameter of 43 mm and a new forked muffler can, which gives the motorcycle a “muscular” look and adds low frequencies to the exhaust. A fuel tank display has been added to the main instrument panel, showing the selected gear, time and trip information. The display on the tank is poorly positioned - to read the information, you have to take your eyes off the road. The main instrument panel now shows average fuel consumption, current fuel consumption and remaining mileage until next service. New mirrors have pillars cast from aluminum, and the steering wheel weights have become longer.
The passenger seat of the Bajaj Dominar 400 2022 has straps to which it is convenient to attach luggage. There's a new sticker on the fuel tank and a "D" stamp on the passenger seat. The side leg received an enlarged heel so that the motorcycle rests more confidently on it. The 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400 has two color schemes - Auroral Green and Black-Grey, while white and red colors are no longer available.

Pros and cons of Bajaj Dominar 400
Advantages
- Informative and easy to read dashboard at any time of the day. There are two of them - one in the usual place, and the other on the gas tank. Unusual, but very convenient.
- Effective standard light optics.
- Confident acceleration dynamics and good brakes with ABS, a floating 2-piston caliper on the front wheel and reinforced brake hoses.
- Ergonomics thought out to the smallest detail. Unlike the old Japanese 400s from the 20th century, the Bajaj Dominar 400 was clearly created with a European audience in mind.
- Many spare parts are suitable for the extremely popular Bajaj Pulsar 200, and therefore they are almost always in stock and are inexpensive.
Flaws
- Excess weight for not the most powerful “400”.
- The standard springs in the front fork are too soft. Riders weighing 100+ kg will probably want to replace them with stiffer ones.
- Low quality standard tires. But for an additional fee, dealers usually offer to install better tires right in the cabin.
Engine Bajaj Dominar 400 2022
Apart from the external changes, the engine performance and handling of the 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400 have improved. Once you press the starter button, the space is filled with a loud, tight bass that accompanies you at all engine speeds. In terms of numbers, the 2022 Dominar 400 is 5 hp more powerful. The engine installed on it is 373 cc. see from KTM 390 Duke, received two camshafts, new ECU firmware and a new exhaust system. Maximum power is now 39.4 hp. at 8650 rpm, and the maximum torque has not changed - 35 Nm at 7000 rpm.
In practice, the engine has a higher maximum rpm and the torque is distributed over a wider rpm range. The motorcycle accelerates to 60 km/h very quickly, and accelerates to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds. If you love long drives on highways, then the new Dominar 400 is your choice, you can ride it comfortably for long periods at a speed of 120 km/h. However, the vibrations remain - at 3000 rpm the engine begins to vibrate noticeably, and closer to 6000 rpm vibrations are felt on the seat and footrests. There are no vibrations on the steering wheel thanks to the larger and heavier steering weights.
A new front suspension, upgraded engine and exhaust system have added 2kg to the new Dominar's weight and its curb weight is now 184kg.
Bajaj Dominar 400 2019
The new Dominar 400 has good dynamics, but it is not such a fast motorcycle that, for example, it can confidently accelerate from 100 to 140 km/h. On a flat and long stretch of road it can be accelerated to 160 km/h, but it is clearly not enough for fast overtaking at speed. However, the tasty exhaust note, good low-end acceleration and high-speed stability are impressive.

Review and impressions of Bajaj Dominar 400
Today I had a chance to ride the 2018 Bajaj Dominar 400. I want to share my impressions of this motorcycle. The fact is that I have long been looking for the opportunity to try this model, since in many respects it is potentially suitable for a beginner, and school graduates often ask for advice in choosing their first motorcycle. I have already covered the main points in an article on choosing a motorcycle for a beginner, but now I would like to focus on the Dominara. I will consider it, first of all, from the perspective of the first motorcycle.
Design is always subjective, but in my opinion it’s a 5 plus! The motorcycle looks very modern, like an adult. The fact that this is a four-hundred car is only given away by the wheels: the small width of the tires and one brake disc at the front. I was also very impressed with the ergonomics. The seat is very comfortable. My height is 175. Weight is 75. It feels like the motorcycle was simply made for me. It was just as convenient for me only on the Yamaha FZ6. If you look at the technical specifications, the numbers are not impressive. Less than 40 horsepower and 185 kilograms of weight. However, in reality this is not the case. It doesn't feel heavy even at low speeds. I was sure that he weighed no more than 160 kg. The Dominar steers well at low speed. The turning radius is noticeably smaller than, say, the CB 400. It would even be more correct to say that it is easier to turn. Turning around at 5 meters was not difficult at all. It felt a little awkward in normal turns. Habits of a clean road worker. Cornering at speed is not his thing. It was not possible to drive over 100 km per hour, but at speeds up to 100 the dynamics of acceleration are maintained. There is a slight delay when opening the throttle at medium speeds, but after a second there is quite noticeable acceleration. And if we are talking about a rider with little experience, then the absence of an acute reaction to opening the gas is rather a plus. The engine sounds unexpectedly bassy. At high speeds, of course, the sound is not for everybody, but the motorcycle sounds like an adult, you can hear it and, in my opinion, that’s good. There are enough brakes. The dynamics of acceleration and braking on the Bajaj Dominar are comparable, which creates the impression of a complete motorcycle. Rear wheel ABS works very predictably, in the sense that it does not interfere or intervene prematurely. I have not checked the operation of ABS on the front wheel.
The suspensions for a motorcycle of this class are quite suitable. The headlight is great! The light is just great. The mirrors are comfortable. I was very pleased with the backlighting of the buttons on the remote controls. Not to say that this is a necessary option, but it looks cool. The additional display on the tank with a set of useful warning lights is very convenient. There are questions about the main dashboard. Not very informative tachometer. Visually the scale is readable, but the numbers are small. There is no gear indicator, although even Chinese Lifans, for example, have one. It's a pity that there is no center stand. Perhaps it is available as an option, then I recommend purchasing and installing it.
I liked the checkpoint least of all. But here again we need to make a reservation - if this is your first motorcycle, then most likely the box will not disappoint you. In at least 30 minutes of driving, I never missed a gear. Everything turned on and off as it should. However, I am spoiled by Honda gearboxes, and any other gearbox seems rough. On the Bajaj Dominar, the gearbox looks more like a Yamaha one. To sum it up, the bike is excellent. At the moment this is the best motorcycle for a beginner . Especially at such a low price. In the 400cc category, this is the undisputed leader.
