Honda Zoomer (Ruckus) from LowRuckus Custom Moscow

Honda Zoomer is a line of youth scooters from Japan with a very non-trivial design in the style of Mad Max. Mopeds are not designed for off-road travel, long distances and transportation of heavy luggage. More precisely, a scooter can easily drive for a long time, but the driver will quickly get tired. Replacing the seat will correct the situation. Cargo can also be transported, but to do this you will have to modify the fastening system and install a trunk. Fortunately, the design of the moped is “naked” - there is no plastic body kit, access to all components is open. You can tune the Buzzer as you please, changing the appearance and characteristics at your discretion.

Model history

Honda Zummer is produced at the Japanese Kumamoto plant. The developers’ idea was simple: to offer young people a kind of “construction set” – a scooter that can be modified to suit themselves. In fact, only the base was made, without any decorations, although it can be used in this form: even without tuning, the Zoomer is a lively and playful vehicle.

The ancestor of the line was the Honda Zummer 50 AF 58, which was released back in the mid-1990s. The first modification of the scooter was proposed by manufacturers in 2002 - it became the Honda Zoomer NPS50. The model turned out to be incredibly popular not only in Asia, but also in the USA, Canada, and Europe - it was able to remove Fuji Rabbit and Mitsubishi Silver Pigeon from the leadership pedestal. In the CIS countries, Buzzers appeared later - around 2007.

Honda Zoomer 50 AF 58

Honda Zummer AF58 is the base model of the line. The design is as simple as possible due to the complete absence of plastic body kits. The abundance of chopped and cut edges makes Buzzer aggressive and gives it a masculine character. The wheels are a standard 12-inch, but they appear larger due to the high-profile tubeless tires and inverted hydraulic fork front suspension.

Hello. Actually, there should have been a review here about the Yamaha FJR1300 tourist that I bought in the spring. However, it was not he who painted this summer with bright colors, but a small but very charismatic moped with an unusual appearance. Honda Zoomer. This is not quite the American Rakus that customizers love so much. This is more of a utilitarian relative of the Dio AF56, which is not afraid to peel off the plastic and get its narrow wheels stuck in the sand or swamp. This is a real universal stalwart soldier. You know, it is somewhat similar to the Nokia 3310 model. There were phone models that were both advanced and reliable, but the 3310 was the standard for how phones should be made. Here it is. This guy is in the right place everywhere, and will duck through city traffic jams, and jump off the curb where necessary, and accelerates enough for city traffic. The water-cooled motor allows you to weave and rush. The maximum speed in stock is limited to 55 mph; I didn’t play tricks with the variator and didn’t remove the limiter in the block. It’s fine for me, and so is the resource of the moped. The design is extremely successful. The comfortable, grippy tube design of the saddle allows you to pull the moped out of any swamp, the thick donuts of the wheels provide excellent grip on any chomping surface, and the tread pattern pulls you out of the mud almost better than narrow enduronic wheels. I would like to note the functional design. On Zoomer you can transport boards, some long items, you can fasten almost everything with an elastic band. A sort of truck with a modest appetite. Gorgeous lighting. I repeat - gorgeous. The original lamps cost 25x25w, I installed 35x35w. The light is simply motorcycle light, excessive for these speeds. After the purchase, I replaced his shock absorbers, and since I couldn’t find the original sizes, I had to install a larger one, from the same Dio. After such a collective farm, I had to lengthen the standard central stand by heating it with an acetylene cutter and bending the stand, which is made of a rod, to a greater length. In my opinion, the moped only benefited from this. There are a lot of videos online with complaints about the motor, and it is disposable, sluggish, and demanding. I don’t know, the service life of this engine is simply colossal; on foreign forums they talk about runs of over 70 thousand before re-boring or replacing the cylinder. Of course, if you install Chinese repair pistons, valves, gaskets, then the mileage will be corresponding. On the odometer of my copy there is an optimistic figure of 7-odd thousand twisted kilometers. It is not known how long he ran across Japan and what he saw in Russia before me, but his motor is silent and cheerful. The belt whistles on steep climbs, I'll change it in the off-season.

Long story short, I recommend this device to all mushroom pickers, fishermen, and just summer residents who love to attack forest paths and hills. Personally, I have no doubt in my choice between the Chinese quarter and this moped. All the best and new unexplored paths.

Honda Zoomer 150

The design remains the same, with the exception of the seat - it has become a two-seater seat (although the seating position between the driver and passenger is too cramped and not very comfortable). The main changes primarily affected the power plant. If the base model had the AF69E with the PGM-FI system, then in the Honda Zoomer 150 we already see the Chinese 139QMB engine. A number of works were carried out on the device to replace parts of components and assemblies in order to increase the engine capacity from 50 to 150 cubic meters. see. The power of the electric scooter has increased from 8 to 11 horses.

Honda Zoomer (Ruckus) from LowRuckus Custom Moscow

First of all, I want to say thank you to Philip for the fact that such a wonderful motor resource has finally appeared, which does not look like a dinosaur of the early 21st century, but a completely modern product without “attacks”, with a beautiful layout, constant updates and detailed answers to the questions I ask in private messages. A good thing, in general.

I remember the Internet from hissing modems and busy phones, and I remember well its evolution from the romantic to the political, but at some point I was simply tired of these crests, revelations, endless trolling, paranoia with jeans and advertising, stupid copying of foreign materials, I even There is an expression: “today on a bored panda tomorrow on a thieving adme.” At some point I realized that there was no need to waste time, rubbing my fingers on the keyboard, creating nothing and leaving nothing behind. (pretentious kid, but oh well)

A couple of years ago I became interested in photography, at first it turned out mediocre, then a little better, at the moment it’s satisfactory. Since I myself am a motorcyclist with considerable experience, the genre in which I “work” suggested itself. After traveling a bit around competitions and events, I realized that the most interesting thing for me was taking photos of custom motorcycles and unusual equipment.

Why am I doing this? It's simple, I like how someone likes fishing, football, BDSM and stuff like that. That is, this is my hobby, which does not bring money, and sometimes, as in this shooting, I also had to pay an additional 2,500 rubles to the Moscow data center for an incorrectly parked car. — masharo. At this stage of development of our custom culture, most workshops don’t even think about promoting their projects and ideas, believing that it’s enough to film it a couple of times on a mobile phone and post it on your VKontakte page and the client will fall away. It doesn't work, to be honest. That’s why there are a lot of foreign projects on the Internet, but ours are like crazy (well, you understand what the word should have been here). It's a shame for the country. Actually, for this reason I write or meet guys from workshops at exhibitions and agree to shoot the highest quality projects.

Why am I filming like this? I think that a motorcycle should ride, and personally, for me, a dynamic shot with the presence of a person is much more interesting than banal pictures against the backdrop of a wall or a garage with an indispensable capture of every screw. Again, I’m not against such photos, but this can be found from several dozen photographers who photograph motorcycles, Google will help.

Like any creative person, I want to receive feedback from my activities, that is, to show the result of the action, a kind of vanity inherent in bloggers. We won’t lie, everyone who writes here wants to share their thoughts with the public, and does not use social networks as personal diaries.

And here the most important question arises: “Bolodya, why are you posting the last 6 pictures and not telling anything about these mopeds?” As I said above, the problem is with marketing. It’s just that the guys didn’t send any text other than a table with performance characteristics and a list of alterations. I simply can’t come up with a beautiful story about the creation, and I can’t give a value judgment either, because I rode one of these mopeds for as much as 400 meters and didn’t even understand how to turn it.

It looks fashionable, stylish, youthful and quite unusual. People in cars and pedestrians are really breaking their necks. Despite the completely destroyed scooter sector in Moscow, the guys continue to ride them.

Honda Zoomer X 110/150

The Honda scooter Zummer X 110/150 has been produced since 2012 at Honda factories located in Thailand. Comparing this moped with its predecessors, it becomes noticeable that it was made a little more compact. The length has shrunk by 2 cm compared to the base model, the width has shrunk by 3 cm, and the height has decreased by 2.5 cm. The seat is for two, but it’s still more comfortable to ride without a passenger. The brake system has changed. In the Zummer X 110 and X 150 the rear brake is not drum, but hydraulic. Inside there is a modified 139QMB engine with a displacement of 108 and 149 cubic meters.

Honda Zoomer X110 review

A prototype of the 2013 Honda Zoomer X 110 scooter was presented in Thailand. Six months later, the serial version of this model was presented here.

Perhaps many will say that the production version could have lost a little in relation to the prototype, and they would be right. At the same time, the Honda Zoomer X 110 was able to retain all the main features. If you take a closer look at the scooter, you will notice an abundance of chopped and cut edges; the sports wheels on the discs have standard sizes, which are equal to 12 inches. They may appear visually larger due to the following:

· tubeless tires with a high profile; · very interesting design solution with front suspension.

The front suspension of the scooter is something other than an inverted hydraulic fork, such shapes are quite unusual for this class of scooters.

The practicality of this model has remained at the same level. This model is still best used for riding, not for long trips. This is due to the fact that, for example, a skateboard can be placed in a scooter, but ordinary luggage may simply not fit. On the sides of the seat rack there are special wire mesh on both sides, which will prevent valuables from falling out while driving. The model index “110” naturally indicates the engine size. Honda Zoomer X 110 is equipped with a single-cylinder engine with an automatic injection system called PGM-FI. This modern system provides high fuel efficiency. With one liter of fuel filled, the scooter can easily cover a distance of fifty kilometers.

At first glance, the scooter is enough to understand one thing - it was created specifically for:

· adventures; · long trips; · for active recreation with friends.

But the Honda Zoomer X 110 is in no hurry to turn your adventures into big troubles, so it is equipped with a unique braking system from Japanese designers. With the rider's light pressure on the brake lever, exceptional braking performance can be achieved.

According to reports from some authoritative motorcycle portals, the Honda Zoomer X 110 model, although it is a new scooter of the 2013 model, has already gone on sale in Thailand. Soon Europeans will also be able to become happy owners of a scooter, who will have to pay about 1600-1700 US dollars for this little pleasure.

In its outline, the new scooter resembles the previous version, but at the same time there are a number of serious differences that significantly distinguish the 2013 model. The scooter will be available in both white and yellow color options. But there is assurance from branded suppliers that the option of creating other color ranges that could satisfy the wishes of young people is currently being considered. According to representatives of the Japanese company, they plan to reach a sales level of 60 thousand Honda Zoomer X 110 units per year. The figure is really quite large, so you should expect active sales from the first days of the premiere of this scooter in countries around the world.

Honda Zoomer NP S50

The Honda Zoomer NPS 50 scooter (aka Honda Ruckus) is a modification that was made for American and Canadian consumers. It is made at the Honda Motor Co. plant in California. Frame, brakes, CVT, suspension - everything is similar to the AF-58. Changes are in the power plant. This model has a two-valve, four-stroke engine AF55-E (aka JBH-AF58). For delivery to Europe, scooters are equipped with a four-valve AF69 engine with a PGM-F1 injector.

Analogs

Buzzers have many replicas and clones that completely replicate the design and construction, but are made from cheaper parts (and therefore less durable and durable). The closest to the Zoomer AF 58 model are the Chinese Forsage Martian and Patron Robot C. Among the advantages of these mopeds, it is worth noting the steel frame rather than aluminum. It is more durable, and in an accident it does not crumble, but bends, which can be easily adjusted. In addition, the Martian has more clearance, so it is more suitable for off-road extreme sports.

An analogue of the Japanese “zoom” Honda NPS Zoomer is VENTO NAKED. It has a 150 cc four-stroke engine. The brake system is combined (discs at the front, drums at the rear).

By the way, Honda produces scooters with cladding, which were built on the basis of the Zummers, but “packed” in beautiful plastic and equipped with various accessories for a more comfortable ride (comfortable seats, functional dashboard, luggage compartments, etc.). Such models are Honda Jazz, Scoopy, Metropolitan, Crea Scoopy.

Maintenance and repair manual

The scooter requires regular maintenance, which avoids problems with the operation of internal components. Mandatory procedures include:

  • Change the oil every 5,000 km (which is convenient, after passing this mark the red light on the dashboard starts blinking). You need to fill the buzzers with SAE 10W-40 or 10w-30 (with a simple replacement, 0.6 liters is enough, after disassembling the engine - 0.7).
  • Replace the coolant every 3000 km.
  • Tire replacement. At Honda factories they install Kenda K761. These durable Japanese tires can withstand intense driving and are designed for approximately 10,000 km (when driving on bad roads, the figure is reduced by 2 times). When replacing, you can use any tires of a suitable size for the Buzzer.
  • Checking valves. The inlet should have a gap of 0.1 mm, the outlet - 0.19 mm. The error allowed is 0.03 mm. It is recommended to check the valves once a season.
  • Adjust the idle speed of the carburetor (Keihin is installed on the Buzzers). There is no need to adjust the quality of the mixture - everything is done at the factory (therefore, the head of the bolt does not imply its constant unscrewing).
  • Check spark plugs every 3000 km. Factories install Zoomer with NGK and CR7EH9. When replacing, it is not necessary to use original parts. Any resistor type with a 10 mm thread and a gap between contacts of 0.9 mm will do.
  • Replace the belt after every 7,000 km (with moderate use - every 10,000 km).

Scooter tuning

Due to the lack of a body kit and easy access to parts and components, Buzzers open up wide opportunities for improvement. To change the appearance, just paint the aluminum frame in any color; if you wish, you can buy a plastic box and make the moped more sporty and elegant (each part of the body kit will cost about 3,000-5,000 rubles).

To improve the performance characteristics of the scooter, you can make the following replacements:

  • Spark plug . For example, for driving at high speeds you can install iridium CR8EHIX9 or CR9EHIX9.
  • Variable speed drive . You can install a Malossi and complement it with a Zero Duke exhaust. This will increase speed by 10-15 km/h and even out the start.
  • Anthers . In the original configuration, scooters do not have any protection against dirt, so it is better to put boots on the front shock absorber; as a result, oil seals will last 3-4 times longer without replacement or repair.
  • Seat brackets . Their installation will be necessary for tall drivers (above 175 cm) - as a result, it will be possible to move the saddle frame back by 10 cm and increase the seat height. This will make your feet much more comfortable.
